As the three of them started on their journey to find out what was going on, Kiyoko grabbed the charm of her necklace and looked at it. It was a wooden cross, made of a fine-smelling cherry-colored wood. She had had it since she could remember, even back in the city. Even though the city disowned her after finding out the truth, she hoped that God, or whoever was out there, wouldn't abandon her like they did. In these dark and cruell times, it was far to easy for people to get picked on, killed, treated without respect or not as much.
She hoped that one day, these people (or "we", now that she thought about it) would get the same respect and treatment as everyone else. A world of equality, peace, and love. Of course, that would be too much like heaven, wouldn't it? she thought to herself.

My name is Iris. I-R-I-S. Four letters. Two syllables.
Iris decided to go for a walk. She stood up, looking around, and started wandering. She looked at the array of broken buildings, grey as stone and overrun by plants and weeds. Steel structures, so rusty they resembled wood, Stuck up like broken skeletons. The haunted features of the rows upon rows of vacated buildings, staring at her with broken, empty doors and windows. She felt uneasy, and sped up.
She wasn't paying attention to the tree roots growing around, or she never would have tripped. She did, and was sent sprawling to the ground, right in front of three people. She was shocked, and thought of the best way to get away. But, seeing the ragged appearance, and scenting the beast-scent of these people, she decided that an introduction was better.
Iris smiled, looking a Kiyoko. She stood up, curtsying to her as she brushed herself off. "My name is Iris." she said pleasantly." I'm a snake. No enemy." She demonstrated, turning into an albino python easily fourteen feet long. She turned back to her demi-form. "And, if I may presume to ask," She said in a well-bred voice, "Who might you be?"

As the three were turning the corner, lead by Shinsei, they jumped back in surprise as a girl ran, and ended up falling on the ground in front of them. Watching as the girl as she got back up, she began to wonder if this was the girl Namine was talking about, for the cuts on her arms (although not bleeding at the moment) still looked freshly made.
Then as the girl introduced herself, she turned into a extremely long snake, then changed back. So she's just like us, Kiyoko thought. Noticing her ask her who she was, she figured it was best to be honest. After all, this girl was honest about her snake form.
"I'm Kiyoko. I arrived here not too long ago, to be honest." she replied, giving a small laugh. Thinking about it, she went ahead and brought out her wings, that were concealed in her body. Two brilliantly large pearly white wings extended from her body, and she backed up a bit, as to not hit Shinsei or Namine by accident. "As you can see, I have the wings of a dove." she added.

((the cuts on my hands are fresh. on my arms, they look almost like silver tattoos.))
She smiled in earnest. "Pleased to meet you, Kiyoko." she said. "I just got here from Africa a couple days ago. it's cool to meet... someone else... with wings." She extended two scale'covered wings from her hollow back. they were small, no more than a foot long each. "I've got some bat in the family." She explained, shrugging. "Oh. And I hope you don't mind, but..." She snapped her hand out, sinking her right index fingernail into the neck of a vole. She stashed it in the black pack she carried. 'I'm a bit hungry."

((Oh, ok!))
"Same here." Kiyoko replied, for she had only met two other people with wings: one already family. So seeing yet another person with wings made her feel a bit more.....comfortable, and less alone, even in this area full of beast-forming creatures.
Suddenly remembering that she brought her bag, she knew a way to solve Iris' problem. Digging her hand into the bag as she spoke: "Well, I bought some food earlier with some of my savings, and I've got some leftover." Kiyoko pulled out some fruit and bread, and offered it to the snake girl. She also got out her canteen of water, for it's hard to wash food down without something to drink.

She smiled gratefully, looking at the bread. "Wheat flour... yeast... salt, and... baking powder." She then swallowed some. She took one of the fruits, and ate it. She then took a bit of water. "Thank you so much!" she said. "I don't eat all too often, but when I do, I need a lot." She smiled. "Now... I just want to know why you came here... do you want to fight the overworlders?" she asked. She held a bit of venom in her voice as she said it.

"No problem!" Kiyoko replied happily, happy that she could repay the kindness Shinsei gave her (even if it wasn't to Shinsei himself). Pausing at the question, she took a second to respond, mainly because the screams from the past filled her head, as well as the images of bullets and blood......
"Well, I hadn't thought about fighting. My main priority at the time was to escape the area where I was held in. I honestly hadn't given it much thought." she replied.

She smiled. "You can help me, then." she said. "I’m a healer by profession, and I’m a fair hand at keeping people from eating dirt." she looked around. "I think that there's a good amount of excellent fighters here... but there are definitely not enough people in the backlines. If there's going to be a war, and trust me, there will be one, the beast-people need a handful of healers." She scanned the horizon. "If you're squeamish at the sight of blood, we're in a bit of trouble. But it's different from a battle. To save a life, to know that one more, then ten more, then a hundred more people are alive because of you, it feels good. And me, I’m not the kind of person to let enemies die, either. I'll help them too, incase they decide to help us."

Kiyoko stood there for a moment. "A healer, hm? Well, my fighting skills aren't all that great...." she stared at the sky in thought. "Mabye. I'll think about it. After all, I want to be able to help you guys, as well as the rest of the village." she said, somewhat thinking aloud. After all, it would be one healer, instead of one person dead on the spot in battle...
