Since Alex had started to speak again, Ravi had more time to think. Ah, yes! This woman didn't know that he could dance - heck, even HE wasn't sure he could dance to the kind of music being played. On mentioning the state of the ballroom population, Ravi was quick to add his own two cents. "I'm afraid I won't be dancing, Alex." Yes - brief, direct, and understandable. Perfect for a host!
But Ravi was more than a simple host, and he had other remarks in mind for the black-haired woman. "Perhaps... YOU should go and join her," Ravi added with a rather sinister looking grin. "You mentioned you enjoyed dancing, right? You could... "break the ice" with Chloe over a song or two, I'm sure." He rose his arms in a sort of shrug, and said, "Only if you'd like, of course. Merely making suggestions. We also set up a pinata."
Ravi couldn't help but turn his attention back to Chloe. She seemed so... so defenseless, so open. Hardly threatening at all. And Ravi, despite his frigid exterior, almost felt the desire to protect or encourage Chloe in some way. Well, things were as Alex had said; with rather unfortunate timing, Chloe, Kyou, and Natsuki had all lost their homes and places of business, yet they were here doing their best to be cheerful. Perhaps, for once, Ravi had a human sense of morality about him. Maybe he could get... at least a step closer to Chloe... yes, just a step-
He stopped dead cold when Chloe turned and waved to him. Mid-step was hardly a flattering position to be caught in, so he straightened himself and grinned, though the expression looked more akin to a grimace. There was no way he could turn around and leave now - he'd been noticed, and he had no choice but to go over to where Chloe was. After all, he hadn't greeted her yet.... and going to her side didn't mean he had to dance, either. Maybe he could even offer her a few tips, if he felt gracious enough to do so.
Turning to Alex with the same faltering smile on his face, he nodded in Chloe's direction and uttered, "Well. I'm off." And after a few seconds, that he was, though at a speed that rivaled nothing more impressive than a sloth.
"H-Having fun, Chloe?" Ravi asked once he'd made his way to the lab assistant. His face was now returning to a more natural, albeit static, expression; he hoped Chloe would find it more inviting than his "host smile." At a loss for what else to say, he chose to communicate what he had observed earlier. "You look... beautiful."

She was being shunned. Pushed away. She could feel it. These kids had no idea just who they were dealing with, did they? She was older! And taller! And had more limbs! And she was here to stay. It was either this or the 'fro dude, after all.
"You know," Amaris said conversationally, leaning forward just a little to get a better look at Roux's cut, "If you're not more careful with your skin, you could bleed out. Big cuts can kill you. You shouldn't be pawing at broken glass."
Withdrawing, she rocked back on her heels and frowned. "If you'd let me, I could go look for some peroxide to clean that. You could get a nasty infection otherwise." She looked around the party; maybe there was some in the bathroom?

((Just whack me if this post isn't what's wanted >-<; ))
A new face walked into the lavishly decorated lobby, carrying a sketchpad and a few pencils with her. This person, this human, appeared to be very grown up if you wanted to judge people by their height, but the subtle remnants of acne on her cheeks and forehead said otherwise. As she looked around at the colourful streamers, she was instantly reminded a little bit of some large 'physical' piece of artwork that she'd learnt in college during her courses. And couldn't help but smile because of it.
The reason for the sketchpad and drawing aparatus where still unknown, but it was probably to relieve her boredom should she have nothing to do during this party. Although, unconciously she doubted there would be nothing to do.
...still...
She didn't know quite how to approach this scenario, she was still working on her social skills and had only been briefly visiting this place for a short while. She hadn't even talked a great deal to some of the people. So she just stood nervously in the middle of the lobby, hoping she wasn't bothering anyone by just suddenly appearing.

Shuura rolled 1 100-sided dice:
12
Total: 12 (1-100)

Vyn, in the meantime, was nowhere near the shadows. The room was dimly-lit enough to be mildly comforting, and she was watching on indfifferently while Shuura began devouring several of the many appetizers on the table.
Mmph, compliments to whoever did the catering, Shuura thought grudgingly to herself. Despite being a decidedly picky eater, the food fit her tastes quite well. She could definitely tell that it was made of high-quality ingredients and with considerable skill, and wondered who did it. They would be high on her list of people to befriend. Before she could continue on that line of thought for too long, though, the familiar beat of B.E.P.'s Pump It began blasting out of the speakers, causing her to perk up immediately. Whoever the DJ was, they had a damn good sense of what was mainstream and club-worthy.
Not minding at all that there was barely anyone else on the dance floor--people are such lame self-conscious sheep, they always need that one person to get the party going-- she made a beeline for the dance floor, a smug grin and a peculiar feeling of benevolence dominating now that she was fed and good music was playing. Along the way to the dance floor she snagged a drink that was sitting on the bar, not caring what it was. "Vyn, let's go dance!" the hedonistic teen prodded. Come to think of it, Vyn had never really brought her much trouble, and they never really did anything "fun" together. It was high time the poor thing learned how to party, and who better to teach her than someone who was out partying 9 nights out of 10?
As she dragged her floating charge over to the dance floor, she caught sight of the DJ and discovered that it was none other than Natsuki! Flashing the cafe manager a quick grin to show her appreciation of the outstanding choice of music, Shuura situated herself and Vyn smack in the middle of the dance floor, next to Chloe. "You look pretty damn awesome!" she informed the birthday girl over the blaring music before starting to dance herself, giving a polite smile to the tall young man beside the guest of honor....hmm, actually quite cute looking in a dorky kind of way, that one.
Floating in place, Vyn eyed Shuura quizzically, shifted the gaze of her yellow-black eyes to Chloe, then back to her guardian. "What is....dance?" the soft-spoken Frei inquired, her haughty head inclined gently to the side in curiousity. While the Shadow Raevan usually preferred peace and quiet and sunning in the shadows on the balcony, Shuura's tendency to blast music all night long had long made the Frei accustomed to loud blaring music, so the current atmosphere was not disturbing to her at all.
"Dancing," Shuura answered, "is having fun." Eyes half-lidded and weaving rythmically to the beat, the raven-haired girl was clearly enjoying herself. "You might like a certain kind of music, but this is really the only kind of music you can dance to," she added. And if Natsuki was as mainstream-savvy as she let on, she would probably put on some other club classics like "My Humps", 112's "Dance with me", Lil Jon's "Get Low", Gwen's "Hollaback girl" or Usher's "Yeah" next.
Maybe it was the intoxicating atmosphere, or maybe simply out of surprise that this was the first time Shuura was really paying attention Vyn and trying to teach her something. Vyn herself was drawn to something about their interaction, about the way the beat of the music enticed her to move with it. Regardless of the exact reason, the Shadow Fei soon began to sway gracefully to the music without much hesitation, and to the surprise of them both, seemed to take it up quite well. Shuura found herself raising an eyebrow in reluctant appreciation. Perhaps she should take Vyn out with her more often--loathe as she was to admit it, this was actually kind of fun, dancing with Vyn. The Frei seemed to had a natural affinity for dance, and moreover was responding to Shuura's own movements and complimenting them with her own. Despite the fact that they were only one of the few dancing, they were moving with such grace and ease on the dance floor that it was a pleasure to watch.

Natsuki did anything but hide the grin on her face as more people took to the dance floor, including her gal pal Shuura and surprising her charge Vyn. She laughed, feeling the beat of the music cheer her spirits up again. "This next one goes out to my gal pals Miss Shuura and Vyn," Natsuki called out on the mic, mixing up the end of one song and leading into "With a lil bit of merengue remixin' here's "Get Low" by Lil Jon! I wanna see how low you can go!!"
As the bassy beats mixed with the Spanish flairs, Natsuki tipped back a sweet Midori Sour that one of the party goers dropped off for her to wet her whistle with. Though in her late 20s, Natsuki hadn't forgotten the Club Scene around Durem University. In her days, she was one of the stage and table regulars hot spots. Oh how she missed those crazy nights, and it showed as she bounced and shook her body from behind the DJ stand. Her fingers clasped the headphones in place as she bobbed her head to the music.
"Work it, Girls!" Natsuki cheering, toasting the dancing queens with the remainder of her drink before draining it and setting the cup down with a satisfied smirk.

Alex felt a smirk slide across her features at the suggestion to go dance with Chloe. She had half a mind to do so since she'd seen the receptionist on the dance floor, but for goodness sake, there had to be a male who wasn't so self conscious that they refused to dance with her! "I may just do that, since a gentleman such as yourself seems so unwilling. Really, she doesn't bite." She grinned again, mirroring Ravi's own sinister smile.
One slender eyebrow raised a touch when Ravi seemed to turn into a statue. She looked over to see where his fixed gaze was--ah, Chloe had seen him. Perfect. Before she could reply with a snarky comment, Ravi was on his way, pulled by the beautiful lure that was Chloe. Alex shook her head a little, crossing her arms again. What was WITH these guys? Vain fools, all of them.
Taking a deep breath, the woman wandered to the side of the room, pulling up a chair and sitting on it backwards with her arms laced over the back piece. She rested her chin on her forearms, watching people finally start to get a clue and mingle. Humans are the single most clueless race, she laughed inwardly, if I am the one to set them straight, we're worse off than I thought. And so she sat, watching as people came to take a swing at the pinata, feeling slightly heartened as more people took to the dance floor.

Chloe looked up at Ravi and smiled, flushing shyly as he complimented her. "O-Oh! Yes. Th-Thank you so m-m-m-much!" She paused awkwardly a moment before deciding that yes.. it was necissary. She reached up - far up, as the man was quite a bit taller than her - and managed to gently curl her arms around his chest and give a quick, shy squeeze. She lingered for only a little while, not wanting to make Ravi (or herself) too shy feeling.
She pulled back to see Shuura and Vyn appear and begin dancing. She was delighted and surprised to see the two, giving a small wave as she watched them dance in awe. "I can't dance." She said almost sadly to no one in particular. Though watching Shuura and Vyn move... she copied them a little bit, though not nearly as graceful as they seemed.
Roux decided he'd completely ignore this person now, turning a (literal) cold shoulder to her. The blood that had trailed down from his finger now reached the end of his wrist and just as it began to form into a drop and fall it solidified into ice. In fact the blood around the wounds weren't clotting the normal way... it was freezing.

Jae Eun frowned with the change in music. She wasn't that fond of rap...unless it was Epik High. After watching people for awhile, she had gathered that the thing on the ceiling, a "pi-nya-ta", was something people seemed to be trying to break open. Frowning, she was still a little iffy on just how you were supposed to break the thing open. An idea popped into her mind, and she decided to wait a bit before trying it.
Looking at the dance floor, she saw Ravi with Chloe, and smiled sympathetically at their awkward situation. She watched the new face with interest, she certainly had grace! Chuckling, Jae Eun wondered if she should ask if the DJ had daft punk's "Aerodynamic." This was one of the times where she was extremely thankful her boyfriend had bothered teaching her how to dance. She was actually pretty good at gliding, wave dancing and popping, and could pull off a few break dance moves......but! Like Tae Kwon Do, dancing isn't something you always want to show off, so she held back.
Changing her mind, she put her bag down next to a wall where a rather pretty lady was sitting, and strolled out onto the dance floor, next to Ravi.
"Oi! Ravi-shi*!! You really should try something like this!" she teased, holding out her arms and moving them as though there was a wave slowly traveling through her body, starting at her left hand and ending at her right.
((*Ravi-shi - In Korean, "shi" (씨) is a suffix that is used when addressing some people to be polite, it can be roughly translated as "Mr." or "Mrs."))

(( Going to toss in Valen at random 8D Profile )) Valen was ... uhm. Sort of lost. He'd been supposed to go to an interview tonight for a possible part-time job of some sort ... the person on the phone had been rather vague about the nature of said job. It looked like now he'd missed it though, as he couldn't even find the place he was supposed to be going. With a soft sigh, he turned around again in the street, looking around.
It was then that he caught the sounds of music and much talking coming from one of the nearby apartment complexes. A party of some kind..? He was almost sure the address he was supposed to be at was around here someplace, he just didn't know where. Frowning slightly, he considered ...
It might be somewhat rude to interrupt a party he hadn't been invited to ... but if he could simply ask someone, then he would know where this place was. Perhaps he could call back and say something had come up tonight. Try again tomorrow.
Starting slowly toward the noise, Valen though, Maybe there will be someone just outside I can ask without having to go in and look the fool ... It was ridiculous that someone with his age and experience was having so much trouble finding an address. Really.

"..... .... We`rika...." He let his name sink in for a moment, "Chloe talks abou' y-- HOOOLY SHI'!!!" We`rika literally jumped off the ground and onto the bar counter beside Aphisment. A dramatic shiver ran from the top of his head to his toes at the strange feeling that had hit his legs. Recovering from his shock, the Huichol, mumbling obscenities, peered over the counter warily expecting to see a mutant cockroach ready to pounce with it ferocious teeth!
"Oh..." He said, almost disappointed and slightly embarrassed by his dramatic reaction to Chloe's little dragon. And remembering Aphismet beside him, he looked down from his counter perch and laughed.

It hadn't been long since Alexi had gone and picked up Kalec from the lab and her recent encounter with Kalec's intense power, but she felt that she had to at least come to the gathering to with Chloe and Kyou a happy birthday. After all, without their patience, she wouldn't even HAVE a Raevan to begin with, and the recent catastrophe that had befallen the lab was definitely the kind of disaster that warranted a visit.
Dressed in her evening gown, her complexion a little ashen, she strode into the party, a little unsure about where to start since these kinds of parties weren't her usual thing. However, she tended to be a rather social person and she felt confident that she would fit in. Setting her gifts on the table with the other gifts, she quickly strode around trying to find Chloe and Kyou, her heels clacking against the floor and making her gait rather sensual.
It was easy to find Chloe, as she was on the dance floor and was surrounded by a great number of people. It was probably not socially acceptable to take her away from the dancing, but she quickly glided through and brushed a gloved, dainty hand on Chloe's shoulder, whispering a quick "Happy Birthday!" in her ear with a wink and a smile. It was good to see Chloe dancing with a man, as Alexi felt that she needed that kind of confidence.
Kalec in the meantime was simply floating behind Alexi, one hand in hers as she floated gracefully around the room. That he had learned how to hover around so quickly was a product of both the power that he had absorbed from the room he was in on the ship, and the fact that his IQ and intelligence was that of a small genius. He didn't know yet how to speak too well, nor did he know social conventions, and so Alexi made sure to keep him at her side at all times.
He didn't seem panicked at least. In fact, he was showing his usual demeanor, that of a rather emotionless and calculating entity. However, he did seem interested in the other Raevan attending the gathering, as he felt that perhaps, he could learn more about what or who he was by observing them.
Alexi wasn't much of a dancer and was more fond of classical music than she was with modern or popular music. Lindin was much more into that kind of music, and she wondered if he would attend. She had extended him an invite but he had declined at least for the time being, saying that he wouldn't know what to really do. She knew however, that he liked parties, but didn't feel that facing Kyou right now would be a good idea, and so she had agreed to let him stay at the ship and help with repairs.
She wandered around, wondering where the good Doctor was. Not seeing him, she simply sat down with Kalec hovering at her side and relaxed a bit. She needed the rest after the things she had gone through lately, and so did Kalec.

It was getting busier by the second, so it felt like to Niksia, and plenty of people seemed to swing past her with surprising speed. All the mysterious faces were equally fasinating, if a little daunting in a strange way. She couldn't say she was afraid of people, just not used to socialising with them and having to have normal conversations.
It seemed slightly... Overrated? No. What was the right word? Niksia pondered the subject as she put the partly emptied plate down and wiped her fingers with a napkin. The music was distracting her from the thought, even though it wasn't what she liked to listen to, it was the beat and strength of certain music that usually appealed to her.
Dancing seemed tempting, even just a little sway or two at the edge of the dance floor would be more than enough. You see, Niksia couldn't dance in the typical sense. At all. Oh, she had some kind of rhythm, but it was more like dancing to the beat of her own personal drummer. Responding to either meaningful verse heavy songs, or those with a heavy back beat, she tended to move with what she thought it stood for rather than just dancing normally.
Sometimes it was all a little too awkward, perhaps that's what the word was supposed to be. It felt too unnatural, too much fear and the like about what everyone else was thinking. So she let her mind wander away as she swayed to the music, mostly listening to that little beat in her head.

A piece of paper floated its way across the room to Natsuki, and to her surprise it was a request from Chloe! "Our next tune is "Less Talk More Rokk"! A little bit of techno flavor to get all those shy violets off the wall and movin'," Natsuki cooed into the mic, as she cued up the next song. "Less talk and more rock? I like the sound of that..."
Over her shoulder, she could hear a familiar voice. Roux. Turning her attention to the nearby corner, she saw the icy raevan with another one huddled near the corner. Taking off her head phones, Natsuki swung by the drink table and picked up a some cold drinks with little paper umbrellas in them. Making her way over to the corner, she was surprised to see a black and red raevan being rather territorial over Roux. The air was cold around them, but the alcohol in her system was keeping the DJ nice and toasty.
"Hey guys, want something to drink?" Natsuki smiled, proffering a pair of fruity, non-alcoholic beverages on a tray to the woman and the two Frei. "Roux are these friends of yours?"
