Kechara was sure her blush reached her toes, she couldn't believe that this was what the "feathers" meant. "I-I'm sorry," She apologized, "I-I didn't know..." She flushed darker and mumbled something softly, not realizing that Briar would probably hear--"I'm sure little Briar's would be adorable..." and then absently took another bite of her fruit and blinked as she discovered that it was the last bit. How long had they been here? She usually took a long time to finish meals...
Looking down at her paws, she realized they were a bit sticky and blue tinted. I'd better wash them... She murmured internally and stood slowly, stretching sore muscles and wincing as she remembered her cut.

"You don't need to apologize," Briar said, shaking his head with a light smile. He didn't hear Kechara's comment about little Briars, though if he had, he would have darkened about five shades of red. He finished the last little bit of his half of the fruit, licking a little of the juices from his paws.
Looking up when Kechara stood, Briar caught the wince on her face. "Are you okay?" he asked in worry.

Kechara nodded slightly, smiling, "Yeah, I'm fine. My leg hurts...but it's nothing." She held out a sticky paw to help him up then looked at it and retracted it with a flush, "Sorry," She apologized, "I guess I can't help you up..."
She glanced around, "Do....do you think there is some water around here?" She asked softly, tilting her head back towards him, "I.....I'd like to clean my paws...." She flushed again, embarrassed that she had had to admit it.

Briar frowned, not liking to hear that Kechara's leg still hurt. He checked her leg, but there was no blood seeping through the bandages, so he believed it was safe to assume that the wound hadn't reopened. He climbed to his feet and looked around the area. "There might be a stream or something nearby," he said. "We can look for one."

Kechara nodded once, smiling sheepishly at him, "We could go back to the lake too, if you like." She offered, pointing in the direction she had thought they had come in. Glancing over she blinked in surprise, she didn't recognize anything. Shaking her head she brushed it off, figuring that she didn't recognize anything because of her determination to find the fruit originally. "S-so, shall we go then?" She asked, lacing her sticky paws together.

Briar nodded at the suggestion. They knew the lake was somewhere nearby, but they didn't know if there would be a stream anywhere closer. It made the most sense to return to what they knew was there. He took Kechara's paws with his own. "Then let's go."

Kechara flushed in surprise, "Ah-Briar..." She mumbled, wanting to remove her hand but not wanting to hurt Briar if she did so, "I-I....my paws are s-sticky....so maybe it woudn't be a good idea to...?" She flushed again, "I-it's just...I don't want to get your paws sticky too..."

Briar grinned at Kechara. "A little bit of stickiness isn't going to hurt me," he said to reassure her that it was okay. "We're going to the lake to clean off your paws. I clean my paws there too."

Kechara blinked at him, astonished. He didn't care? But why not? She flushed, everyone she had known at home would have made her clean her paws before even coming near them, why wasn't Briar doing that?
Because he's not like them.
She flushed again, this time in shame. Of course he wasn't like her family and those she grew up with, why couldn't she get that through her head? Unconcsiously, she squeezed his paw, her thoughts far from her physical body.

Briar watched Kechara. He could only guess that the reason she had been worried about getting his paws sticky too had something to do with her family and the way they had treated her as she grew up. He didn't like the thoughts that brought to his mind. He was used to a life of freedom where other numas didn't punish him for a simple error.
He shook the thoughts from his mind as he felt Kechara squeeze his paw. "Well, then," he said out loud, smiling at Kechara. "Let's get going." He started leading the way to the lake.

Kechara looked up, surprised and immediately dropped her gaze, "Yes..." She quickened her pace, catching up to her mate. After a few minutes, in which she was incredibly apprhensive to say anything, she spoke, "Um....Briar?" She asked, tilting her head to look at him sideways, "I....I'd like to know...." She flushed crimson, shifting her gaze away sheepishly, "Um....I-I.....well..." She blushed darker. Why was it so hard to ask? It wasn't that big of a question.
"Um...W-well, I'd like to....know more about you." She glanced at him from behind her multicolored hair, cheeks stained a light pink. It was just...they actaully didn't know each other well. If she really thought about it, they didn't know many things about each other. Favorite foods, hobbies, almost everything.

Briar paused and stared at Kechara, blinking in surprise. It hadn't occurred to him that they didn't really know much about each other before becoming mates. "What would you like to know first about me?" he asked, not sure where to start himself.

Kechara flushed, "Um....well...like, favorite foods and stuff you like to do..." She shrugged slightly, "You know, things that..." She blushed crimson, "Anyone s-should know...e-especially your mate..."
She slowed a bit and brought Briars paw up to her face, nuzzling it a bit, eyes half-lidded, "We are very new at this..." She murmured, "But we should at least learn about each other...yes?"

Briar thought it over and realized that Kechara was absolutely right. "But in return, you have to tell me about yourself as well," he said, smiling at his mate. "My favorite food would probably be gummy fruit, though that fruit you just showed me might be my new favorite. As for stuff I like to do, well, there's a lot of stuff I like to do. Explore the land, find new food, play games with other numas." He then looked at Kechara. "What about you? What are your favorite foods? What do you like to do?"

Kechara blinked in surprise, "What-?" She squeaked. That hadn;t occured to her at all. That she would have to tell another about herself. She turned pink anyway. It was only fair to tell about herself after all.
"W-well, I like chocolate and this cold stuff that can be many flavors, I think it's called "ice cream"?" She flushed, how could she not know the name of a food she liked? "A-and I like to fly and I love to read books." She blushed, "I-I really like the rain too." She mumbled, "Thunderstorms especially."
