Ithildae's eyes darkened. "The main square. But Malak, we don't have time to call everyone together. We have to make the Oplians fall back before we can get people safely away." She looked miserable. "I don't think there's any choice."

"Just get as many people as you can," malak ordered her trying to think of the next step, "there are probably already people there. And i know i'm ordering you around but just trust me on this find as many people as you can and met me in the square, and try not to do anything foolish if you do..." malak hesitates as he reaches into his coat and pulls out a whistle, "use this it has a very specific tune so i'll know its you if i'm in hearing range. Its something i came across in my travels never know when i might need it."

Ithildae took the whistle from him with a mute nod. She got on her horse and rode towards the town, pointing every Belian she met along the way towards the main square.

As soon as Ithildea left Malak ran towards the direction of the square. "Follow me to the square," Malak shouted, "Gather together for defense! All who can fight please help protect each other!" Great, he thought, now all we need to do is to get a good number there. I hope we get a good number to survive Malak finally got to the square. "Now time to prepare," he mumbled to himself, "power of illusion be my friend, grant me the power to fool the Oplians." Then Malak proceeded to kneel down and continue to chant.

Ithildae rode through the town streets, searching for any Belians she could find. Every time she saw someone dead, her heart broke a little more. She'd known a lot of these people, grown up with them. She was surprised to find that this made her angry, not just sad. They treat us like their slaves...then they come kill us. Why? Do they think we're polluting their precious space? Not every Oplian could be like this. There had to be some who thought this was wrong. Why weren't they speaking out? Shaking those thoughts from her mind, she kept going.

Jake finally reached Ithildae's house. He peered up at the window. It didn't look like she was there. The ladder from which Jake had left yesterday was still leaning against the window. Jake climbed it to get a good look in her room. She was not home. Jake wasn't worried about her. He knew she could handle herself, and she was probably with Malak. Jake was worried that the Ophillians might raid her house, so he carved an Ophillian symbol on her door so that they would think another Ophillian had already raided the house or was inside. At first Jake thought of going back to Ophillia, but he decided he would try and help the Belians. Even though he had never wanted this to happen, he felt guilty. After all, He had overheard the men talking. He should have told someone about it. Jake ran off in the general direction of the town square, where he thought he would find the most people.

Ithildae came riding through the city, headed back to the main square. The town wasn't large. It hadn't taken her long to circle it and find as many of the remaining villagers as she could. Her eyes widened in shock as she caught a familiar face. She swung down off her horse, looking up at Jake. "What are you doing here?!"

Ithildae looked at him for a long moment. She wanted to believe him, she really did. He was her friend. But he was still an Oplian. She didn't know how far she could trust him. "Did you? Did you really?"

Jake started to reply, but then stopped and looked at her. "You don't believe me do you?....Of course you don't! After all, I am an Ophillian if I like it or not. I mean, just because I helped save Malak, a Belian, that doesn't make me a good person, does it?" After Jake said this he quickly looked down at the ground.

Ithildae reached out and lifted his head until their eyes were locked. "I want to believe you, I really do." she told him gently. "But we're under attack, and those Oplians who don't believe this is right are probably not here. It does look suspicious, you have to admit."

Jake though for a second and nodded. It was suspicious of him to come here. "well, anyways, I figured since i'm here, I might as well help you fight away the Ophillians. Even if I am technically one of them, killing all these innocent people is wrong."

Ithildae felt bad for him. "It's not a matter of fighting anymore, Jake. We're on our way out. Even if we fight away the Oplians this time, they have the advantage of numbers. I think that if we leave now, we won't be coming back. So just tell me one more thing...what started all this? Why did they decide to attack us without any warning?"

"well...actually I think I was one of the first to hear about this" Jake said. "appaerently a group of Belians murdered an Ophillian and didn't get in trouble for it or somethi-" Just then someone shouted Jake's name. Jake spun around, wondering who in the world would have called his name. Then he saw his father, standing a ways away, motioning for Jake to come to him. Since he was far away, and couldn't see his face clearly, Jake couldn't tell if he was angry or not. "uh.. That's my dad, I better go.." Jake said to Ithildae. Then he started walking over to where his father was, not sure what to expect.
