I've recently fallen in love with the Naruto/Gaara pairing. Does anyone have any really good fic recs? Not AU if at all possible? -will love forever- ;p

Alright, I am going to put some of my own change into the first post thing...

I do agree with most of what you said. There are just some things that I I really don't agree on with you.

Ok, like the leaf picture. I really didn't see that as a symbolicly representing Gaara and Naruto. I saw that more as representing the Leaf and Sand village. Both villages were not to friendly twords the other and it took both of them to beat eachother senceless to begin for the end of a fight between the Leaf and Sand. Almost like the viloent version of Romeo and Juliet or The Way Side Story.

Now, you were talking about how Sasuke completly missed the point of Naruto showing him that life was more than just throwing lemons at the people you hate. Yes, Gaara did learn that he could be more than just "a weopon" to the village. Infact, he became the Kazekage.

I honestly believe that Sasuke would have not left the village if Itachi did not show up the time he did. Sasuke was in the prossess of being healed by Naruto. Sasuke did not see Naruto as "the evil monster with the demon inside him", like all the other villagers. He saw him as the "goofy annoying kid who wears orange and he can probably more or likely take down". He didn't see, or rather didn't want to see, the awsome power Naruto had inside him. Unfortunaitly it took Itachi's appearence and discovery of why he appeared from the blue to set the gears in motion for the massive damino effect.

People still saw Sasuke as the specil kid because of his family. But Sasuke always lived under his older brother's shadow and never really had the chance to develope into his own identity. Naruto gave him that chance and was saving Sasuke from his own self-doubt.

I know you guys are going to hate me a bit for saying this but, I really have no choice but to bring it up... To make matters worse, Naruto does infact play a role in pushing Sasuke away. How does he do this? By defeating two opponents Sasuke himself was unable to defeat. Because of thiose events, it leaves Sasuke feeling weak and helpless al over again. That and a few major things:

arrow The masicare of his family is still freash in his mind.

arrow Itachi's role in Sasuke's extremely low self-esteem when he teels him how "weak" and "worthless" Sasuke is. And adding insult to injery, he attempts to bring harm to Sasuke's friend.

arrow Sasuke simply feels stuck in his position. Here he sees Sakura and Naruto becoming stonger every day and he feels like he is not improving at all. He feels helpless because he was unable to prortect his friends from enemies and his own brother. He refusses to see the improvement he has made. In lamest terms, he is simply envious of his team mates.

Sasuke was ready to change, but the appearance of Itachi messed it all up. Gaara was ready to change. Naruto despreatly wanted to change his friend but has to learn that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. But it is completly understandable that Naruto would feel some sort of guilt. Here he was able to change somebody who was an accuantince, who later becomes a very good friend, but he can't even save his own best friend.

But that doesn't mean that Naruto would ever abandon a friend. He has seen from Gaara's eyes that he could have ended up just like him and perhapes is even more so thankful for that. Gaara saw that Naruto was just like him and craved for that and achived it.

GaaraNaru is the pairing. Naruto and Gaara can relate to each other, they know each other's pain. Even though Gaara had to suffer through a lot longer than Naruto had to.

For a person to go through all that suffering and yet protects the people to made him feel that way, Gaara is a strong person at that. That's something you have to really admire.

Thnx to Naruto, Gaara was finally able to recieve the attention and the love he so rightously deserved. Naruto was the key to opening Gaara's heart. I believe strongly that is the pairing that shows everything.
