"Maybe we should be trying to find out his title then," says Cy, "it would make more sense if the title held this town together. It might be some title that the leaders take now."

That would make sense, kind of like the kings of modern days take on the name of the original king of their country in honor of them. I sighed and took out one arrow from my quiver, stabbing it into the ground in front of the tombstone. I know it isn't flowers but it's a warriors gift. So Cy where should we start looking now.

I'm going to have Valient get connected to the dead hero, because he thinks they are very similier.

I guess I should be making something that resembles a back-story for him then.
"an excellent question," says Cy, "judging by the riddle, I'd say some kind of secret vault of records. If this title is hidden to most, it would probably be a ceremony done in secret that most people don't know about."

That makes sense, a vault would most likely be in one of the oldest largest buildings in the city. My mind wandered back onto the dead man and the engravings on his tombstone. I onder were that pike is.

"Judging by his tombstone," he says, "It's probably been melted down and reforged into something else......wait a minute. Maybe it's the pike! If they melted it down and reforged it into nails, then it would be literally holding the town together! Also, if it's a magical weapon, it would explain why this town is so full of magic.
Cy may be a blue dragon, but this herring is red. *wink, wink*

Wait a minute if the pike holds the town together, then the city itself was the master of it as well as this man. Then the nails holding this city together would be in the sewers most likely seeing as they are the bottom of the town. Maybe on the nails the pikes name is inscribed.

Thanks for the hint, it helped me figure all this out.

I'm not so sure about that, but we'll see
"I guess we're sewer diving then," Cy says less than enthusiastically, "hope you've got non-flamable light."

Yeah I've got an everburning torch which should last for a while.

I'm drinking a jar of water and look to the people surrounding me, does any one look strange?
PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 6:19 pm

Javius:
You look around and see beside you, in the next two bar stools, a man with a large mug of ale in each hand. An orc is passed out on the floor nearby and a half-drunk goblin is arm wrestling a drow.

Sar: Okay, I was going to just let you go here, but this is getting out of hand and it could jeopardize the quest. That grave has no real meaning, I just threw it in to try to get you to take a 20 on your search check. That's also what the "struck by lightning in a snow storm" thing was about.
"Somehow, I have a bad feeling about this," says Cy, "I wish we could hold off on this so I could prepare my augary spell. I just don't know if this is the right thing to do, but I'm filled with a sense of foreboding for some reason. I think there's something really dangerous in the sewers."

Fine we'll wait for the spell, but if we ever come back to this town you've got to help me out to get a hold of at least one of those nails. I say standing up in front of the grave. We should go to a tavern to relax while you wait for your spell.

"You must have some pretty heavy drinking planned if you're expecting my to be able to recharge my spells in that time." Cy says, "I guess it has been a while since I've had a good drink though. I'll buy the first round."
You know the nails don't exist, right?

I know that but he doesn't.
Yeah kind of heavy drinking but I plan on frinking you under the table so you pass out and morning will come faster.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 6:53 pm

"You know, my dragon blood does grant me the ability to hold my liquor slightly better," Cy boasts, "....than a dwarf, that is. Okay, that's probably an exaggeration, but I'll see a fire elemental frozen in a block of ice before an elf drinks me under the table."
I suppose it's admirable that you don't metagame, but I hope you'll meta-game about the sewer, I don't have anything for that yet.

I'll leave the sewer for some other time in the epic range. Whats meta-gaming by the way.
Well a druid such as yourself will be suprised to see a frozen fire elemental, and just to tell you I out drank a few dwarves in my days. I begin to boast back. And that was fair drinking.
