Whoa, spuntino. That lace is gorgeous! Where did you get it from??

Joann's Fabric and Crafts. I've also seen it at Hancock. (:
It's a poly-cotton venise lace. There's a few different sizes with similar patterns to them.

Haha, the Jo-Anne's around my area FINALLY got that lace shipment in stock. I plan on stocking up on it as if it was a sack of potatoes, and I was preparing for the next potato famine. pirate

I started this n another thread in the main listing, but instead I'll do it here where the off-topicness is low-key.

Out of my some over-ten-odd designs I narrowed it from seven, to six, to five, and the final four.

One will be a TA-styled cybergoth outfit. Another will be a VK/punk-styled vest. Another will be a lavender or crimson cherry-themed bustle skirt with Lolita blouse and an apron I think. The fourth will either be a modernized punk/aristocrat kinda thing or another cybergoth/fetish outfit. Not exactly sure.

I'll post up the designs when I get around to it - the Lolita outfit isn't complete yet, though, and the body I drew it on is in the worst position for showing off clothing ever.

Ahh Spuntino, your rose venise lace is gorgeous. That type of lace just isn't available in my country in any of the fabric (or lace) stores I've been to. So I'm stuck with broderie anglais lace that gives a country-ish feel to all my clothes biggrin

How much did your lace cost?

@Frosting
That jacket looks really nice. I like military style. Maybe if you used really lush fabrics and metallic braid you could make it into a pirate loli jacket?

-----
My current work in progress is going really well. I have worked on it for two days in a row for a total of 12 hours (I'm really slow at sewing). It's a Minnie Mouse inspired lolita skirt made of red tightly-woven polycotton (? I forgot to copy down the label) with white polka dots. It has a gathered waist on a soon-to-be elasticated (and finished) waistband, a lovely ruffle at the bottom of the skirt and cute white broderie anglais lace.

I love Minnie Mouse's outfit, but I didn't like her bloomers poking out (not for my personal style, anyway), so that's why I added lace for a similar effect. And ruffles are cute. And her existing skirt looked too plain for wearing in real life smile

So my next steps to finish the skirt are: pressing the waistband, inserting elastic (in back half of skirt only), sewing down waistband, tidying up. If I'm lucky (and motivated) I might be finished tomorrow!

When I remove stitches (or even pins) from the fabric, holes are left behind, so I might just leave all my gathering stitches (slightly visible on ruffle and around waist) in for now. I can remove them later if I change my mind.

Very, very late reply, but the lace I purchased cost about 2USD per yard, I believe? It's been a while since I bought it, however.

Also, if you're able, you should get in on the group orders for Cheep Trims. They sell a wide variety of lace at wholesale prices and if you get in on a group order, it's very economical!

Update: I finished that Minnie Mouse skirt a long time ago, and I have been enjoying wearing it smile

Current project cross-posted from Love and Lace:

I just came back from holiday in my country's capital, Wellington. While I was there I bought the cutest fabric and it has inspired me to continue work on my bodice top pattern drafting smile

The fabric is called "Little Blessings" and it was created by Nancy Davis-Murty for Andover Fabrics. Her website is http://www.beecreativestudio.com/

I bought this fabric from Arthur Toye on Willis Street, Wellington (in case any local lolis see this) for $12 per metre. So my purchase of 2.3m cost NZ$27.60. It's also available online in the US for a slightly more expensive price.

I love the colours, cute creatures and sweet messages this fabric has!

Current status:
After making a mock up from cheap fabric, I realised the bodice bust needs to be taken in a lot on the pattern to fit me better. The bodice might ideally start higher up my chest, but not sure I want to change it.

I prewashed the fabric and it shrunk a lot! The fabric went from 113.5cm wide to 109.5cm. Very glad that I prewashed it instead of ending up with a garment that is too small in the end.

Very cute!
The only suggestions I'd make is to add another button on the front. I can see that you were on this type of crisscross trend and you didn't follow through on the bottom. Scratch that, I see what you did there. X3
Then I was wondering if you were intending to have the detachable sleeves a different color from the main body of the shirt/jacket? I'd keep the main color.

Oh yeah, good luck!
