"Hey... I was aiming for him," he huffed, jerking his chain back into his hand. "She was just... in the way."
"M-Mayu..." Demare whispered, opening his eyes enough to see the girl lying on the floor, wondering what had happened. Did the people that just appeared do something to her? He released his arms, trying to reach a hand out to his friend.
Dante shrugged a bit. "You and your... puzzles. Think you can handle him? I'll put the girl back into one of the cells until you're ready for her. I doubt she'll be able to get out on her own without this one there to help."
He stepped over to the child, picking up her limp form carefully, checking the back of her head for a moment to make sure there wasn't any actual damage. Unless she was one to recover quickly, she'd be out for a decent amount of time. Perhaps he'd cast a minor healing spell on her, just to be safe in case something else did happen.

"Right," the woman scoffed. She shuffled off to the side for a moment, rummaging in the bins for some unknown object. Stopping for a moment, she pulled out a long metal chain -- best to take precautions. Plain rope wouldn't be enough to tie the boy down, not after his impressive display in the cell. Weakened or not, he could still be a potential danger.
Lillian stepped over to Demare, slugging him over her shoulder as if she was carrying a potato sack or something of the sorts. Returning to the room, she laid him out on a surgeon's table and secured him with the chain.
It was a while since she had... "operated". Tapered fingers ran over a neatly arranged row of surgical instruments, pulling out a scalpel from its holder.
"Now, what can we do with you?" she murmured, gazing over at the boy.

Demare could hardly struggle as the woman did what she did, twitching against the chain wrapped around him. What were they even doing? Why did these people take him and Mayu away from the park? Had they done something wrong...? Maybe Neko would know something.
His eyes grew wide at the sight of the scalpel, fright washing over him.
"W-what are you doing?" he asked quietly, trying to ignore the pain. "What do you want with us?"
Dante made his way to a different cell, one that looked similar to a jail's. He figured that if the girl had anything to do with the children getting out the first time, it wouldn't be wise to put her in the same place twice. She'd only be able to get out of it that much faster. Carefully placing Mayu on the cold cement bed, he waved a hand over her body, causing a pale green aura to surround her.
"There..." he cooed softly, watching as the color faded away. "Should be all better now. Lilly wouldn't like it if you were damaged."
Turning around, he walked out of the cell and back into the hallway, sliding the steel barred door closed before making his way back to the other room. He was interested in seeing what Lillian had planned to do to the boy.

With a fluid motion, Lilly flung the scalpel at the boy. It landed a mere two inches away from the top of his head, pinning a fly in place by its wings. Scare tactics were so fun.
"There, there. We're going to make you... normal, to put it in simple terms." she crooned in a mock-sincere voice, eyes running over the drawer of surgical instruments agian. She would have to run some DNA tests, figure out what genes made the kids Legends and eliminate them.
Lillian extracted a large needle and an empty syringe, glancing over at the boy. She smirked, and swabbed Demare's arm with a dab of disinfectant.
"This won't hurt a bit," she said, grinning a cheshire cat grin. In seconds, she had a full syringe of blood ready for testing. Slipping on a pair of nylon gloves, she stepped off to begin the preparations. DNA testing was a lengthy process, but it had good payoffs.

Demare's nerves had been shot. Clare couldn't take things like this, even with how far he'd come when it came to Demian scaring him out of his mind. He'd just met this woman, and she'd succeeded within a mere 10 minutes. He'd grown completely unresponsive by the time Lillian had taken his blood, his mind swimming with the thoughts of being normal. Normal... Would that even be possible? He liked being the way that he was, even if he didn't like sharing the body. It wasn't the body he had a problem with; it was the soul he was stuck with.
Dante leaned against the door frame as he watched Lillian do what she needed to do. He never did understand these human things... Their DNA was complex, and hard to figure out exactly what was what. The one and only time he'd tried to "fix" someone he'd managed to turn the subject from male to female, while he was aiming for simply changing their skin color from blue to a more peachy, human tone. He quit right after that.
"How long do you think this will take?" he asked, peering at the boy curiously, wondering why he wasn't saying anything. "These kids have me on edge for some reason, and the sooner we can get rid of them, the better."

Rows after rows of data ran down the screen, and the woman analyzed them with a sharp eye.
"Aha, what's this?" Raising an eyebrow, Lillian double-clicked to pause the scanning. A string of genes had appeared on screen. Non-human, at that. Scratching down a few notes on a legal pad, she resumed the scanning, pausing the flow of data ever so often to investigate a gene that had appeared to her as other-worldly.
"The DNA scan won't take too long," she replied, "but I'm not quite sure about actually... correcting the problems. We'll need to eliminate these strange genes from the body altogether, and God knows how long that will take."
Mayu stirred slightly, immediately feeling a sharp pain in the back of her head. It felt like she had been run over by a steamroller, reinflated, and run over again.
Taking a moment to recollect herself, the Legend surveyed her surroundings. She was in another cell, though this one was not as fancy as the one in the hallway. Ordinary steel bars, with a large padlock hanging from the door.
Now, lock picking wasn't her specialty, per se -- in fact, she had never even picked a lock before. She had seen it on television, however, and had memorized the steps taken to open such a lock. She needed something sharp. She eyed the door handle that she had stuck in her pocket earlier. It was sharp, but too large to fit in the keyhole.
She rummaged in her pockets for something sharp, and found just what she needed -- a screw that had not fallen when the handle was yanked off of the sliding door. Perfect. Now, if she could only remember how to pick a lock...

Demare didn't do very much as the woman analyzed the information, his right arm coming up every so often to test the chain around him. Blood dripped slowly from his fingertips, having seeped through the red soaked bandaged. He needed to heal his cuts soon, before anything could get into them and cause an infection. His blank eyes were fixated on the ceiling, the boy appearing to be in some sort of trance.
"Demian..." the halfing whispered quietly. If he couldn't call out to the demon in his mind, maybe Clare's voice would work. "Demian, answer me..."
You have some nerve coming to me now after all the trouble you've seemed to cause, the demon hissed finally, the two red eyes on the body's right side opening slowly. What is it?
"I need your help... I can't do this alone anymore..."

The Legend jiggled the screw around in the lock, hoping that the tumblers would catch. No click, another failed attempt. She was getting frustrated by then, and she had to stop to calm herself before she attempted to pick the lock once again. If she tried while she was frustrated, chances would be good that she would break the screw in half completely. And then what would she do?
Another jiggle. This time, a muted click sounded, and the padlock came apart. Mayu sighed with relief as she removed the lock from the cell door, pocketing the screw. She placed the padlock besides the open door and sneaked out silently.
She knew that watching all of those detective movies would pay off one day. As she came up to a corner, she peered over to check that no one was coming and quickly slipped out of the dark hallway. Now, she just had to get through this maze of hallways, find Demare, kick butt, and get out of the building with time to spare. Easy enough, wasn't it?

Why do you need my help? You got yourself into this mess, so get yourself out of it.
"I... I can't, Demian. I'm scared... What if something happens to Mayu? I can't risk her getting hurt... I've already, somehow, put her through enough."
Who cares? It isn't my ******** problem.
"These people are trying to change the body."
For a long moment, the demon was quiet. What do you mean, change the body?
"They mentioned something about turning me... normal. I'm assuming that would mean changing the body to appear human, possibly getting rid of you. As... two souls isn't normal." If that didn't entise the demon, Clare had no idea what ********. They can't do that. We could die!
"That's why I'm asking for your help. We need to get Mordanath back... Things will be a little easier if he's here."
YOU LET THEM TAKE THE DAGGER?!

Okay, another split in the road. Mayu closed her eyes and pointed in a random direction. Left, she supposed. Traipsing lightly down the corridor, she found herself in the hallway of glass cells once again -- good, she had gone in the right direction.
Now.. she had to go right to reach the reinforced steel door. Turning the corner, Mayu once again started down the nearly endless hallway. She wasn't quite sure if they had even kept the boy in the room, they might have moved him like they had done to her.
Well, she had to take chances and make mistakes, she reckoned, even though this wasn't the best situation in which to apply the famous words of Ms. Frizzle. As she approached the door, she slowed her pace. She would take the two by surprise.

"I didn't just LET them... They took him while I was asleep. We need to find him, though."
Well, he's not in this room. He's down the hall, to the left, first door on the right.
"...And how do you know that?"
I can feel him, stupid. Can't you? ...Oh, right. You can't so much when you're in the body.
"Great help you're being."
You want to do this alone? Then shape up. Just give me control of the body, and I'l--
"No..." The body twitched a little bit after being still for so long. Clare was surprised that the two strangers hadn't reacted to his "behavior" yet. "I want to stay in the body. Just until Mayu goes home."
Why the ******** does it MATTER?
"Please... I'm begging you. Help me, but let me stay in the body. I promise... As soon as she goes home, I'll let you have the body for however long you want."
That's a dangerous thing to say.
"...Okay, I'll let you have the body for however long you want for the next couple of days."
You're lucky I'll let that slide. THIS time.

It was all or nothing now. Mayu slammed into the steel door, holding the door handle in her hand menacingly. Just as she entered the room, she realized how stupid of a plan this really was -- she was only armed with a broken door handle, Demare would probably be tied down, and the two were obviously well armed.
"LET HIM GO! OR.. OR I'LL.. THROW THIS SHOE AT YOU!" Mayu cried, kicking off one of her sandals and chucking it at the blond man.

"Thank you..." the angel whispered, pulling against the chains a little bit. He had to get out of there somehow... Mayu might need his help. His eyes turned to the door as it slammed open, however, almost dumbstruck to see the girl standing there.
Dante had been caught off guard, getting smacked right in the face with the sandal. His eyes twitched as it fell down to the floor, his grin faltering as he did his best not to lash out at the girl.
"Now now, good little girls shouldn't be so ANNOYING!" he growled, reaching for his chain. His hand appeared to be stuck, however, unable to move his arm. "What the...?"
Turning his eyes downward, he noticed the shadows behind him moving a little bit, black, clawed hands reaching out and grasping the man's arms and legs. The same thing was happening to Lillian, trying to keep the two from stopping the kids.
"Mayu! He won't be able to hold them for long... Help me with these chains!" he called to her, fidgetting as he tried to get a hand free.

Lillian shrieked in frustration, fighting against the shadows as best as she could. And she was losing.
"They're getting away.." she snarled, attempting to wriggle out of the shadows' grasp. They held on tight, and she could only watch as the silver-haired girl untied the boy.
Mayu had the chains loosened in a matter of seconds, and was hobbling over to pick up her thrown sandal. She stuck out her tongue as she ran towards the door, waving Demare over as well.

Demare sat up quickly as the chains were loosened, throwing them off of himself. With Demian's help, he was feeling a little stronger, the body no longer aching like it was.
"I need you to go on ahead and try to get Mordanath," he told Mayu, hoping down off of the table. "Demian said... he was down the hall, and... there's another hallway on the left? He said he was in the first room. I'll meet up with you in a moment."
Dante wasn't too happy about this. "We're not going to let you get away that easily, you little punks!" he growled, trying to free himself from the shadow's grasp. "We're not done with you yet!
