wiping the goblin blood from his face, Nizam rushes at the next closest goblin, flipping the hammer in his hands so that he can use the hook this time.

Good, another one down, and who knnows how many more to go. After the brief distraction of thinking to himself, Brendon notices the fleeing goblins and swings at the closes one.
8+4Str-4penalty=8 MISS!!
In an attempt to stun the goblin, Brendon reduces the force prior to the blow. Obviously he reduced to much 'cuz it barely caused the damned goblin to flinch.

Action Summary: The raiders are fleeing en mass now. There are no raiders or goblins within the town walls still on thier feet, and the rest are fleeing into the nearby woods. The guards and townsfolk are stop the chase, noticing the heavy losses they have suffered in the battle and the darkness of the wood.
Each party member gains 400 experience! You should track this by editing your sheet. There is an area in the top of your sheet. wink
Current situation: The battle is over, the raiders have been routed, and what is left of the town has been saved. The townsfolk and guard are beginning to clean up the mess. Transporting the wounded to the temples, and putting the dead in carts. Looking back at the town, you see that most of it has been reduced to smouldering ruins. A few sections of the town have been left unhurt, and shelters are being set up there to house the many recently homeless.
The Captain of the Town Guard, after noticing your skills in battle, gathers you together. "Thank you all so much for assisting us! The town of Triel is in your debt. I would like you to accompany me to see the mayor, as I am sure he will want to reward you all, or least give his thanks." He will not take no for an answer, and practically herds you along.
He leads you to a large building in one of the unburnt sections of town, though on the way you see many kinds of human suffering caused by the night's events. The building is alive with activity, people shouting and moving in every direction. It appears the mayor is going to be quick in responding to the plight of his people. Entering the large manor you are presented with the trappings of a wealth that seems beyond such a small town. The Captain takes you up a few flights of stairs, then into a large office, where a portly man in an array of finery sits at a desk looking over documents and talking to a few other well-dressed men. Probably nobles of some kind. As they discuss how to get enough supplies and workers to rebuild, the Captain clears his throat. "Excuse me sir. I have come to report on the situation at the gate. I have also brought a few who stepped forward to help save our town. They are very skilled, and fought selflessly in our defense."
Just as the mayor silences the nobles to respond, a woman dressed in a wild, but regal dress, bearing an amulet with a symbol of a Unicorn, bursts through the door behind you. She rushes past you to the mayor. "I think this whole night has been a diversion!" she shouts, "While we were fighting the fire and the raiders, someone broke into my temple! The Book is gone!"
At this the mayor turns white. "But who would..." She cuts him off again. "This is the only evidence we have found." She hands him a peice of crumpled parchment. The mayor examines the parchment for a moment. "But, it's just a floorplan, and not of your temple Moonwind. There is but one word on it, and 'Hadonis' means nothing to me." Now the Captain speaks up. "Hadonis! I know of him. He lives in the woods outside of the town and comes in to get goods. The people refer to him as an evil cleric, but I have little knowledge of the man other than that." Now Moonwind turns white. "I cannot fathom what an evil man could do with The Book, but I do not wish to find out either! We must act!" The mayor looks grim. "You know what has happened Moonwind, you were here! As much as we all fear The Book, I have no men to send into the woods after it! Can't you take some of your people?" Moonwind responds, sullenly, "I have too few, and too inexperienced. Noone with the skill to accomplish the task. Besides, they will be needed badly by the wounded tonight."
The Guard Captain looks back over his shoulder, to you.

There wasn't even enough time for Ahirman to clean the blood off his weapon before he was brought before Triel's governing class. At this time, it didn't matter, really, but it was still a minor concern. He watched with mild intrest as the temple head gave them another clue as to just what transpired that night, and how.
Ahariman glanced back to the guard, his expression never anything but grim and stony. After a pause, he cleared his throat and spoke carefully chonen words. "Mistres....Moonwind...It's clear that everyone here has their hands full with their own problems and will for some time. However, I've already been Riled into action, and I would liketo see this though. In short, I voulnteer to help recover this book."
He wasn't doing it for her, or the Guard Captain, or anyone else. Simply, he would do it because he wanted to bar whatever this Hadonis person would do with the book if he was so desprate to orchistrate such an act to get it.

I looks at the mayor, trying unsuccessfully to hide the smile on my face at the thought of the dangers and adventure I was likely to encounter. An evil cleric was no giant of course, but there was still likely to be much adventure. And who knows what they would encounter on the way."I don't see any reason why I can't be of some service. I know my way around the forests well enough, and am a fair tracker. Now, I hate to sound the mercenary, but will there be any sort of compensation for this?"I look around the room, being fully aware that this man could probably spare a few gold. "It's not that I am motivated by money of course, but I can't be properly prepared for a mission if I don't have gold. I may be able to survive off the wilderness, but one fight's better when he's living a little better than 'surviving', if you know what I mean."

" I know not what matter of book this is, but the situation seems to warrant attention. I will gladly lend my assistance in whatever ways possible." he said simply. " If they went through this much trouble to create a distraction then they must have something foul planned."

Dorak walks with the others to the mayors house. As he is walking he checks out his fellow defenders of the town to see just who and what they are. He frowns at the elves but doesnt let them faze him. After all he had met a few good elves before. When they get to the mayors house and goldmoon comes in and talks about the book he listens. So who is this evil cleric? What god does he worship? I helped defend this town because I walked into it, but I will not do this for free. How much are we going to be paid?

Staring out toward the last few retreating figures of the raider, Faust looks over his shoulder to see the amount of bodies that failed to leave. twisted "Dammit, not even enough bodies to create a shock force." twisted He mumbles more to himelf than those surrounding him. twisted "Oh well, at least I get to have some fun later with the few that are still alive twisted . I still can't believe that I let some get awa-" twisted was the last thing he said before some idiot shoved, what he assumed, was a adventure into him. The next thing he knows is that he's in some old dufus's room asking to return some moldy old book back to the village. Yawning slighty Faust enters a sort of trance as the mayor briefed the rest on the situation. twisted Hey, Dimitri, you can have your control of the body again. But while your there help ask for that favor before you let me take over. twisted "I applogize for...spacing out like that." Bowing before the mayor and the priestess. "But this book you mention intrigues me. I am gatherer of knowldgeas well as a collecter of magical items at heart. Pray tell what is of such importance with this book that a force of raiders would attempt to burn down your village as a distraction to take it. Oh and I have a...friend who, if possible, would like to question the currently unconscious raiders for information. sweatdrop .

(Don't worry... it was a GOOD die roll and that's all that matters 3nodding )
Navon looked at Dimitri as he spoke and nodded, this one was a fellow spellcaster... and worthy of investigation, at the very least, and perhaps even some respect.
"Yes," he said "Tell us more of this book, and of what you have extracted from the raiders. My spell, the one that incapitated so many of them, should have worn off long ago... And if they were not executed immediately for their crimes I suspect you will have already learned something from them."
Looking at those who asked so many questions about money he shrugs, wondering at these surface dwellers obsession with simple base metals.
"I myself" he continues "care not for monetary compensation and will participate regardless, though I will accept it or any other aid offered on this mission. I have come to this strange land to study your ways of magic, and this seems a fine way to do so while helping uphold the greater order. I only hope brigand attacks are not as common as my experience thus far leads me to beleive."

(of course, a natural six is cool, too bad there was nothing for it to be used for. sweatdrop , oh well.)
"Truly, I must agree with my brethern in magic. Monetary compensation is not necessary, but as a way to further magical research... I humbly request that half of my share be donated to the order I'm in." Turning Navon and bowing to him in respect. "Greetings fellow spellcaster, forgive me for not introducing myself to a brethern to the arcane arts. My name is Dimitri Fate. You seem to be from a race outside of the ones we normally see. Prehaps we should compare our knowledge in our respective arts one day. Oh and worry not about those stragglers that were left behind I'm sure my traveling companion Brendon is taking care of the situtation right now."
Outside at the moment. As Brendon watch Faust get herded into the build along with the rest of the adventurer. Brendon busys himself with his master's last command about sercuring the unconscious and keeping them that way. I can't believe they left me out here. Oh, well, at least the rain is slowing down. sweatdrop "
(I'll have Brendon introduce himself eventually, and I kinda lost track how many were left unconscious and should I just keep rolling sixes or use the one in my previous post? If it's the d6 from the previous post the result is 6+3Str=9*2=18 subdual damage. eek )
