Cyndir's eyes widened as Reiku stuck his tongue out at him. What on earth? And Cyndir hadn't said a word to him that time! Honestly, a friendly guy like Michael? Hanging around with a sourpuss like Inoue? Go figure. But still, he hadn't needed to be rude. Setting his guitar down, one hand delved deep within his pocket. He came out with a few bits of string, some lint, a pretty pebble he didn't even remember finding, a guitar pick...and....ah-hah! He knew he had one. A green rubberband. Well, Cyndir may have been an all-around nice guy. But for him to have hung around with the people he had...he did have a mischievous streak in him.
As soon as Reiku's gaze went elsewhere, Cyndir layed out his music, and opened his guitar case. Then, he took aim with the rubbedband - and good aim did he have - and let it fly, straight into the back of Inoue's head. Then, he quickly turned to his music, looking for all the world as innocent as a babe, and giving off every impression of the studious musician...except for one thing. The corner of his mouth twitched in an effort to contain his smirk.

Michael was pretty much oblivious to everything. He had put his instrument together and began to warm up on his own. Chromatic scales, long tones, rythms and some other small things he had learned over the years. It mixed together into the hodgepodge of rythm and sound that was a band warming up on their own.

Kazuma's violet eyes drifted back and forthe from Reiku to Michael as they had their little exchange. He couldn't help but to notice each looked genuinely shocked by the other's actions. As Cyndir launched a rubberband across the room at Reiku's head, his thick, dark brows lifted in surprise and he couldn't contain the soft chuckle that escaped him. Shaking his head slightly, he strummed the strings absently of his acousic guitar, noticing belatedly he was still playing out that melody Keiran had played for him. His amusement quickly faded as he sighed.
Reiku's hand shot to the back of his head as a surprised yelp escaped him.He whirled around to face Firebug, not the least bit fooled by his innocent act. He shot the boy a scowl... but tit-for-tat had never been a strength of Rei... more like silent judging. He could keep quiet like it was a paying career, but comebacks? Payback? Not so much...
As Kazz's soft snicker reached his ears, Rei's cheeks felt warmer still, and his ears felt as though they matched. He slumped further in his seat as he sat stright ahead agan. What in the hell was he doing in here, anyway? He couldn't play an instrument, and he had no intentions of learning how to now. As if of their own volition, choclate brown eyes landed upon Michael...
Oh yeah... that was why. He'd just focus on Michael... Firebug was none of his concern. Probably still bitter over not being allowed to handle matches or something, he thought nastily. Not that he would ever say such a thing... he was much more content to simmer in silence. The school councelor had told him time and again that it was n way to behave, and possibly detrimental to his treatment, but Rei didn't care. It was his comfort zone.

<---from somewhere
Kimi was in her own little world as she entered the band room and retrieved her clarinet. She couldn't stop thinking about him. That sardonic smile...Something about that witty, sarcastic humor captivated her.
Easy Kimi...don't get ahead of yourself. Don't get attached. As soon as he finds out your dirty little secret, he'll run like there's no tomorrow. Best not get attached...
Sighing, Kimiko assembled her clarinet and began playing a simple tune. She winced as the instrument squeaked and another girl frowned at her.
"Hey, Akanabe, this is a band, not the Birdwatching Club. Go take that whistle someplace else till you learn how to play." she said haughtily.
Kimi gave her a sideways glance and continued warming up. She was here to learn, not to appease some busybody.

Koroji was right behind the girl sho spoke and with a confident grin he said, "Now now, we all have differant levels of skill, and patronizing someone for a mistake you used to make is something I won't tolerate."
He left the girl blushing as he stood up on his podium, looking at everyone still warming up. He saw that Inoue kid, the one that was always around Yohokiro-san. Tagging along, huh? It didn't bother him, as long as he wasn't a distraction.
He saw Kazuma and Cyndir with their guitars, as well as some other strings. He frowned. Did anyone ever read the entry letter? No of course not. Oh well, he would adapt. It would be good for him to reveiw his strings. They could provide a good base line or melody, so it wouldn't hurt anything.
He checked attendance with his control and frowned as he saw two missing. One of them had been from his theory class, and the other was Elizabeth? She seemed so eager. She must have lost track of time. He pumped up the voltage to hers. He would 'not' be taken lightly. Elizabeth, he simply gave a light reminder.
He moved his hands to silence everyone. "Welcome to the first class of band everyone. I'm very happy to see all your smiling faces. We had more turn-out than I thought, so lets make use of it, alright? Now, I'm expecting you all know your B-flat scale. Play that in whole notes with me. Percussion, please do eight-on-a-hand. One, two, ready, play." He moved his hands conduction at a mild tempo.

Reiku folded his hands in his lap as the teacher began speaking, doing his best not to be a disturbance now that class had begun. he still simmered a bit about the sting in the back of his head that served as reminder to Firebug's antics and pondered how he could possibly seek revenge. Later, of course. Oh, he knew it was little more than fantasy, but it sure made him feel better.
Setting his guitar on the floor Kazz raised his hand, remembering belatedly that he was supposed to have stayed behind after music theory. Yikes, but he wasn't making a very good impression on his new teacher, was he.
"Sensei? I know you said before you don't need strings, but does that mean we'll be forced to learn something else? All I know is the guitar, and I can't read a note of music..."

Koroji's hand stopped in the middle, and he cut off the others. He looked very perterbed that he had been stopped in the middle of something. Few things got on his nerves, but that was a quick way to do it.
"Kazuma-san, please do not stop me in the middle of an exorcise. If you have a question or you do not understand the exorcise please wait. I know that there are many differant skill levels here and I would appreciate time to analyze it myself. Now," he turned back to the others, "One, two, ready, and," he resumed the exorcise and then finished.
"Now, is there anyone who does not understand how to read music, does not understand scales, or thinks I'm talking gibberish up here?"
Michael fealt really embarrassed for Kazz to get called out like that. Not able to read music? Maybe they should have a begginer band class. Oh well. It seems that Nagenami-sensei would be able to handle it. Maybe.

Kazz snatched his hand down, then bowed his head, his face a mortified crimson.
"Gomenesai, sensei," he murmered sheepishly. Well, that was a mistake he wouldn't be making again. If it could be avoided he wouldn't speak again at all. The tall teenager looked up as the teacher asked his question, and he slouched a bit lower in his seat. Wow, wouldn't it be nice if a hole opened up at his feet a swallowed him whole? Yeah, that would be pretty sweet, the boy mused to himself.
Rei cringed as Shimotsuma was scolded. Well, he really had brought it on himself. He had interupted after all, what did he expect? Still... he couldn't help but to sympathize with the blushing boy, knowing exactly how he felt.
Besides, Shimotsuma had always been nice to him, despite the fact that Rei had been barely able to summon more than 4 words to say to him at any given period of time. He did wonder how the other boy could play his instrument so well if he couldn't read music.... and what he was always jotting down under that tree he liked to sit under in the courtyard, if he wasn't writing music.

Cyn couldn't help but be amused that Reiku was still tossing him sour looks here and there. He knew he shouldn't provoke the guy...it wasn't as if Reiku was mean...He was just...well...Cyn couldn't think of a word for it... He was just...Well...Cyn didn't like being ignored when he was trying to be friendly. It was rude.
Cyndir paused in his warm-up, the small amp letting his final note linger a little longer as the redhead cringed. Poor Shimotsuma. The blond was nothing if not respectful...what had gotten into him?
Kimiko managed to push out a passble scale, though her instrument still squeaked from time to time, drawing her unfavorable looks from the other clarinet players. She ignored them.
Then Shimotsuma spoke up, and Kimi would have sworn she could see the smoke trailing from the sensei's lips. Damn but if that wasn't a bit harsh...She sighed and continued playing before she could let her mind wander again and forget her task.

Koroji shook his head as he saw the few ammount of those who couldn't. Well then, he wouldn't keep the others here when they'd just be bored. "Alright then," his voice was a bit more calm, "Those of you who are confident in your ability to read music and play scales, please feel free to leave class early. Those of you who do not feel so, please remain here for the remainder of class. Also, over the next two weeks, feel free to schedule private lessons if you feel you need them. They may be one time or perminent."
"Those of you who are ready are dismissed. Those of you who are not, please pay attention." He moved to the back wall and wrote to staves on the white board, One treble, the other bass. "Now, these are the two cleffs Treble and bass. Each line and space here represents a note.
He proceeded to write in the notes
Treble: -F E -D C -B A -G F -E
Bass: -A G -F E -D C -B A -G
He turned back around. "Everyone understand so far?"
Michael got up, putting away his chair and stand. He moved away and put his trombone away and in the instrument room. He moved to Reiku and leaned down with a shy smile. "Hey," he whispered, "let's roll, huh?"

Reiku nodded enthusiatically as Michael appeared before him. Giving the back of his head another rub he jumped to his feet and almost threw his arms about the taller boy's neck... almost. Soething just barely held him in check. Instead he took Michael's hand in his own and smiled shyly.
"Hai hai," Rei whispered back, not wishing to disturb those still having their lesson. "Let's go."

"The Union sounds good. Maybe Ariko and Shinohara are still there."
Rei smiled back at Michael, then led the way. He did his best not to bump into anything and cause a disturbance in the classroom, he saw how the teacher responed to disturbances. He didn't want to get on his bad side, especially after he had been so nice and helpful when it came to Michael. He'd even carried him to the infirmary. Rei could never had manged that... maybe drag him halfway out into the hallway... by the ankle ...

He smiled and too as much care to not disturb his sensei as possible. One thing he now knew, Nagenami Koroji was 'not' to be messed with. He looked back. Sensei looked rather serious. He hoped the others were gonna be okay. He moved on and followed Rei.

Cyndir glanced from the little bit of sheet music to his guitar, to his watch and then at the sensei. He knew how to read music. He'd been having lessons before with the previous instructor. He smiled to himself. It seemed like it had been ages since he'd seen Sanzo. He hoped the boy was awake now. Maybe they could go get dinner.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Inoue heading out the door, hand in hand with Michael. His eyes widened. They were a couple? Well, if that just don't beat all. He grinned to himself. Maybe he needn't be shy with Sanzo at all.
Picking up his things, he left the room, careful not to kick anything or knock something over with his guitar case.

Kimi on the other hand, wanted to stay, to keep her mind OFF other people. One long-haired, green-eyed wise-a** to be specific. And she knew she needed help with her clarinet. Her lips pursed in thought, she adjust her seat to have a better view of the board. She heard a snicker behind her, and saw the girl that had taunted her picking up her things, a snarky grin on her face.
Busybodies... Kimi thought to herself, before turning back to the teacher.
