My friend, Jon, had braces for a while and he was great at playing trumpet. Then last year he got them taken off and he still hasn't fully recovered from the change. I know this is random, but does anyone else refer to trumpets as t-pets? Our band has nicknames like that for every section.

I won't face it... xp only because I knw a guy with a Bach Strad...and he makes it sound like its the worst not the best... so in my experience its the player not the Trumpet. but hey! whee Oh yes, the player is definitely important...but a good trumpet can enhance a player's ability...they do make a difference sometimes...but you shouldnt depend on the difference they make... Now mouthpieces...I use a Vincent Bach Straight 3...It helps your sound improve over time, and doesnt hinder your range as much as say, a 1...thats a good mouthpiece...Nick Balleza, the first chair...he is currently using a 1/2 size mouthpiece, so his sound is improving a lot, but he cant play as high...which isn't really a problem, since before he could play at least double G...

It's the one above High C...That's the highest one he's allowed to play in our music...he can play higher...my highest note is High C...but then again, I am only in second band...

Russ B A double G? Thats it? I hope your talking above the scale, cause i can play well over that. You make it sound like a double G is nothing. I was really proud when I hit the second G above the staff, which was actually inspired by the band forum. 3nodding Thanks for the motivation people.
