(Sorry, I changed my story a bit, Lyra's name was ORIGINALLY Lyra, but all the people survived and got powers took new names to symbolize the new people they are. Lyra just reversed the order of her name so now she's Aryl: Lyra backwards. Sorry, hope you don't mind.) Kamiss sat down besides Aryl, watching the spider with her. "We'll move out when Zero is reaady. That sure shook him." He needn't mention what he was talking about. He watched the spider begin to spin a web. "It's so weird... That small creature people are so afraid of us trying to trive while the rest of us are in the dirt." Kamiss sighed. "What do we do?" He asked, not specifically at her, his eyes trained on the spider but no longer focusing at it, as if he could see through the ceiling to the sky above.

(Aryl - Aryll - Link's sister - ^_^) Blinking slowly, watching the light glint of the spider's many eyes, she spoke quietly. "We carry on, because that is all that we can do. Unless you want to give up. I'm sure there's one or two nice little demons who'd help you." A cold laugh accompanied her words, but there was a little light in her eyes now.

(THAT IS NOT LINK! GRAAAHH! Sorry I just feel they insulted Link in that game.)
Kamiss nodded at her harsh words, taking no offense. Though spoken softly, they carried power. "I had a dream." He looked towards Zero. "These... demons aren't just that. I think they are animals, but in the same way we humans are animals. They have a level of thinking only we humans have accomplished so far. They can be killed because they are like us. They have hearts that pump blood and brains and have feelings." He turned to Aryl, eyes full of pain. "We are at war with the only other species to reach our intelligence. We are slaughtering other people." He looked back at the ceiling. "I don't know why they are attacking us, but I think it is something we did, unkowingly, to them. I need to tell Zero he didn't actually see Death, but that'll be the only good news."

(I know. I loved the game, due to my slightly huge obsession with the ocean, but I hated that character. And he makes sketchy noises.)
Aryl searched his eyes, making sure he spoke only what he thought was true. She blinked, and looked away. "Intelligence. Perhaps one of the downfalls of man. But yes, I agree. They seem to be like us, but structured so differently... What caused this? Why are they so powerful? I don't know why they attacked us, but as you said, it was most assuredly our fault somehow." She sighed, hating the human race. "Any good news is a miracle, at this point. Tell him, before night falls. He'll need the light."

Kamiss sighed and dragged himself up, sliding a last glance at Aryl and sighing once more for uneeded emphasis. He moved over to Zero and started talking in hushed tones, for as night came so did demons. "That wasn't Death." He began, and repeated his story.

Lacking a better pasttime, Aryl pulled a ragged cloth from her pack, and started to wipe clean the gore from her once shining weapon. It took a while, but soon she could see her tired face in the metal and gem.

Zero swore, rather loudly, and turned away from Kamiss, slamming his fist against the wall. Kamiss knew he couldnt do anything more, and turned back to Aryl. He, in turn, swore, and threw a black dagger past Aryl's head. He ran to the window, drawing a sword, and leapt off the building, ripping the serrated dagger from the wall no more than an inch from Aryl's head.

Clenching her fist around her spear to cure her shakes, Aryl blinked away her fear and dashed after Kamiss, sighing at the neverending stream of terror war drove upon the world. She'd have words with Kamiss about the dagger when the fighting was done. Until then, the shock of losing a locke of her hair would fuel her fighting.

(I hate doing this. I really do. Aryl's weapon got changed to a sword. You choose which type: Rapier, longsword, etc. This is because I can't imagine her fighting with a spear. I see the other people with their weapons but I can't imagine how she fights. Another thing: Aryl now has control over three elements: Air, Earth and Water. Water --> Ice. Yah. 3 Elements now. Sorry for the changes.)
Kamiss flipped through the air, arms spread eagle, his body moving backwards over and over as he fell. He threw the dagger, but missed the neck, and it hit the creature in the arm. It was a different kind of demon, not as tall or wide as the originals, but much faster and could also jump higher. Assassins. Was Kamiss' immediate thought. Zero zoomed down next to him, seeming a blur as he ran down the wall. Kamiss landed on top of the creature, twisting his dagger and ripping it free. He would have slashed but his arm wasn't yet ready. It didn't matter anyways because Zero's katana ripped open its throat to end its scream before it could begin. Kamiss had no doubt that if Zero hadn't the whole area would start swarming. He drew his second sword and melded them with shadows, though it took a few seconds. He then shifted into a battle position as demons, both old and new, surrounded him, and cut him off from Zero. "Let them make the first move." Zero called to him. He nodded, then looked for Aryl. He wondered how quickly she could get down; she had no speed nor jumping abilities. Kamiss shrugged the thought off, knowing she'd be here soon enough.

( gonk Fiiine.) She landed as his shoulders fell, wondering as she landed what had happened to her familiar. She clutched her rapier tightly, strangely eager to hear the whip-like sounds of its sting. She seen the new demon's death as she rappelled down the wall. (Rope in her pack, no jumping skills, so it was all I could think of to keep her equal to them...kinda...) Things were getting worse, then, if these swift things were part of the enemy.

(I really is sorry. BTW, she coulda just used wind to slow her fall... lol)
Zero was waiting for either the demons to make the first move, since they were waiting for the humans to make the first move, or for them to argue or get bored so they could escape. Unfortunantly, the demons took Aryl's entrance as a first move. They charged. Kamiss leapt over the head of one demon, kicking it back towards Zero, who then impaled it with his katana. Zero's staff-blade was broken into two and was wrapped to his forearm by black tentacles. Kamiss saw as he fell, he was falling straight towards a demon with glowing yellow eyes and a mouth. It was no more than an inch taller than the rest, but seemed significant. As Kamiss came down, something happened. He saw, before it happened, the larger demon's sword coming up. He tilted his head ever so slightly to the right, and ripped through the demon easily with his sword. For the first time, blood spurted from the wound, coating Kamiss' sword and filling the air with blood. In that moment, three things happened. Out of the blood was formed another serrated dagger, making two for Kamiss. The first one he had found by his head one night, after waking from a nightmare. The second thing that happened was that his skin hardened once more. And beyond. His skin stretched over his bones, and spikes started protruding from his shoulders and knees. The third thing that happened was his mind got attacked again, like never before. Kamiss was forced onto his knees, dropping his swords, and his vision swam. He could barely make out the fight around him, but he did see a second larger demon--Generals, he nicknamed them--a second General approach. It raised a sword not unlike Kamiss', but shorter and without the greatsword anchor at the top, and plunged it into Kamiss' breastbone. It sunk about six inches into him, with the tip poking out his back. The General gave a guttural victory cry, but Kamiss just stood up. The skin-armor clearly protected him, even from such a horrendous wound. He cut down the General, and turned to face the smaller versions--Grunts, with the sword still embedded inside him. The fast ones, Scouts, joined with the Grunts, thinking the man wounded. And he was. Kamiss screamed, curdling the blood of even the demons as the sword sunk deeper into his chest. But at the same time, the tip poking out from his back withdrew, the two sides converging in Kamiss' chest. And then it came out, point first, Kamiss still screaming. Instead of grayish gleaming steel, the blade was entirely black, like his own swords. First out came those six inches of steel, then the remainder of the two feet of the blade. The hilt, handle, and pommel, complete with a demons-head insignia. But there was no hole in Kamiss' chest, and as the sword expelled itself into Kamiss' skin seemed like a ripple in the water. The sword fell to the ground, as did Kamiss, and a nearby Scout picked it up. It ran away, however, instead of try to kill this man full of surprises. Zero ran to Kamiss' aid, not thinking his brother would ever get up again. But Kamiss did, and quite quickly, though unsteadily. Then it suddenly dawned on Zero this was not the weak brother that their mom had hurt, that was long abandoned, that had looked up to Zero with all his heart. This was a man that would not be beaten. Kamiss stabbed his two swords into the ground, leaning on them, panting. Zero stood by him, making sure no demon approached. Kamiss' swords quickly melded into one and he charged forward, yelling, swinging his blade. Four demons were sent flying back into walls. Kamiss' eyes glowed white-blue and ten more were sent flying by invisible throws. And black fire appeared from his palm, burning further demons as it exploded, thrown into their midst. Kamiss would fight.
(It took me over 12 minutes to write this.)

(Holy WOW. That's a novel, that is. heart Mine is DEFINATELY not going to be that long. Sick = no brain waves)
Aryl, blade whipping, sliced through the smaller demons with ease. The larger ones, though, gave her some trouble. But she managed to slash her way through a line of them, and then had to rest. Ichor and blood coated her arms to the elbows, and her face was splattyered with it. Oddly enough, it no longer bothered her. She heard Kamiss scream, and turned, only to be stabbed in the upper arm by a smallish demon. A small cry, and she cut off his head. She ripped cloth from the bottom of her pants, and tied her arm tightly, all the while trying to keep her eyes moving, searching out Kamiss, Zero, and her enemies. A mass of dark shapes seemed to come pouring from one direction, so she ran that way, in time to see an explosion. Kamiss seemed to be on fire, fighting like the wind. She stayed away from him, not certain he would be in any condition to see her as a friend, instead of a foe. So she hacked away at every evil thing that came near, piling up a significant number of bodies.

Kamiss came bullrushing past her, slashing his sword. Four bodies crumpled and he leapt clear of them, his downward strike breaking a body in half and decapitating a crouching demon. One more jumped over his sword and thrust a sword at his face, but he grabbed the blade in a stony hand and pulled the demon towards him, snapping its neck.

Aryl knelt behind the literal wall of bodies, cleaning some of the gore off of her rapier by wiping it on her ripped tunic. Spining at the slightest sound, she caught a demon in the eye, and as it fell the eye stayed with her. (Ew, I grossed myself out. I just imagined a squelchy sound with that. Ew.) She flung it away, and leapt over her make-shift shelter in search of more demons to fight. She didn't have to wait long.

Kamiss raised his sword above his head, bringing it down on the head of the General in front of him. As he did, he staggered, his mind once more attacked by unseen forces. He cried out, stumbled two steps forward, and fell face down on the ground. His armor started receding and a demon stabbed him, but couldn't penetrate the armor, which stopped retreating. The demon then tried picking up Kamiss' sword to use it on the unconcious man, but it couldn't lift the blade. Kamiss eyes snapped open for one short moment as blood rushed to his brain, and the demon fell screaming to the ground, charred and smoking, as the sword burned it. Kamiss' eyes closed once more and he knew nothing of the rest of the fight.
