Jun's snort hinted towards him not being a billionaire, secret or not, and yet Christian still shook his head, disappointed, when the man said as much. "Well hey, I just had to make sure." Because, if Jun had been been such a man of prestige, then Christian would've tried all the harder to secure a friendship between them.
...He wouldn't have. But, it was still good to know!
Christian grinned as they stepped out of the maze, the corn, which had become an all-too-quickly familiar sight, replaced by the food stands. So is assumption had been right. He nudged Jun's shoulder, "I didn't realize we were maze experts." Before he could say anything more his attention was caught by an item booth, right outside the maze. "What should we do next?" the blonde inquired, even as he meandered over to investigate.

Ledian used a hand to cover her mouth, trying to laugh silently at the antics of Duna and Chickpea. The two were just so full of youthful excitement. Thankfully her buzzing was quiet and didn't sound like laughter unless you knew what to listen for. She was amused in a mentorly sort of way and didn't want either of them (especially Dune) to think she was mocking them.
Dune wriggled back and forth, as if he was settling into sand or dirt to listen to Chickpea's story, even though there was nothing to settle into here. [ "That sounds interesting. It's n-nice to know there's good human places," ] he said. He'd had nightmares after Team Rocket showed up and tried to take him. Learning about different places that weren't so bad made him feel better. [ "I can't imagine a place with so many other pokemon l-like you though!" ] he laughed.

Jun glanced back at the maze. He wasn't really sure if he'd call them 'maze experts', but they did make it out in good time and with what seemed to be a good amount of plushies each. Two golden GS Balls was nothing to sneeze at in terms of prizes.
"Hmm. Let's look around for something?" he suggested. There wasn't much in the vicinity aside from food and the maze. They could wander a bit, see if there was something else to do. He was tempted to go back in the maze for the prizes, but the interest in seeing something new won out.
"Hey, check that out," he said, pointing to the facade of a futuristic looking haunted house. The lit-up lightning coils on either side of the door had caught his attention. 'Frankenstein's Lab' said the neon blue sign.

The inside looked almost like a museum, with lit displays showcasing supposed experiments (or pieces of experiments) above small cards listing information. The place had also been set up to seem like the first floor of, well, Frankenstein's home, with the edges lined with bookshelves or decorations to make it look like a sitting room to the side.
Most likely, there would be something interesting in the basement.
For now, Jun checked out the item closest to the door. "Huh." It was shaped to look like some kind of deformed hand, and the card even said 'Touch me!' on it. Uh. Weird.
...he touched it.
The fingers curled up, almost catching his hand inside. Jun had quickly snatched his hand away, but watched as the display uncurled to reveal a single ticket held in the palm. Okay then.

Chickpea bobbed his head, glad to see that Dune was understanding. "Mhm! Everyone there was really nice to me." Though, from the way he spoke, it sounded as if Dune had only had experiences with bad human places, and that wasn't good. The Chikorita puffed out his chest, oddly proud to have come from a place where several of his kind lived. "Maybe, one day, I'll go back there -- and you can come with me! Then you'll be able to see all the Chikorita."

"A haunted house?" Christian looked the attraction over, its blinking sign catching his attention first. After several seconds of being transfixed by the light itself, he broke out into a grin and gave a nod. "Alright, yeah. It looks like it'll be fun!" Everyone loved a good scare, every now and then.
A soft, lulling song could be heard, upon entering the home of the demented doctor, one that Christian couldn't recall but he did recognize how old it was, and was most likely produced by a phonograph. It was soothing, but a bit off-putting considering the dismembered body parts, floating in a strange liquid, that sat nearby. Out of curiosity, Christian stepped close enough to peer at the of a woman, her eyes glassy and the top of her head cracked open to reveal the brain. Upon tapping the glass, the head's eyes rolled into the back of its skull and its jaw dropped unnaturally low, allowing for the head's gray tongue to loll out.

Finished agitating the reanimated limbs, for now, Christian wandered back over to Jun, just in time to see him receive a ticket from a dismembered hand. "Aw, my head didn't give me anything," he, teasingly, lamented. He shoved his hands into his pockets, then cast a quick gaze around the parlor. Besides the inhumane experimentation, and the bookshelves (probably) filled with all kinds of medical journals, there wasn't much else. "Wanna see if the doctor keeps any organs in his fridge?" he offered up, indicating that they should investigate the kitchen.
"Oo! Or, maybe, the cupboards will reveal just what a mad scientist's diet looks like." Christian cupped his chin. "I'm thinking it looks a lot like take-out, five nights a week."

[ That would be crazy! A place full of Chick-peas!" ] Dune could hardly imagine what that would be like. They probably didn't all have personalities like Chickpea, but just imagining a horde of the little green guys was nuts.
[ "I bet it's n-nothing like here," ] Dune joked. The house (was it a house?) they had gone in now was all dark and spooky, though it being dark didn't automatically make him scared.

Jun eyed Christian, going so far as to wave the ticket back and forth once before slipping it away. "Guess she didn't like you that much." He ran his eyes quickly over what he could see of the room from here, curious if there were any obvious sources of tickets or other freebies. Nothing of note, so he felt fine taking Christian up on his offer. "Wanna bet on it?" Given the care put into the entrance of the place, there was a good chance a detail like livers and hearts in the fridge would be a... no brainer.

"You speaking from experience?" Jun asked as he stepped onto the tiled floor of the kitchen. As someone who had eaten cooked meals nearly his entire life, the idea of always getting takeout was utterly foreign.
The fridge was an old thing, blocky and white. Jun glanced at Christian, "So, bets? Brains or lo mein?" He pulled on the handle and it stuck. After a moment's pause he pulled again and this time it popped open.
A foul stench wafted out. There was a purple something inside. "G-grimerrrr."
"Nope." Jun slammed the door shut.

Chickpea giggled. "It would so cool! Think of how green everything would look!" After all, if there was one thing Chikoritas were known for it was... being green. Well, maybe just a little more than that, but they were green. "What would a place full of Dunes look like?"
He looked around at the many strange displays, and, while he couldn't understand a thing, his curiosity was still piqued. "Nope! It definitely didn't have all these things in it," Chickpea confirmed with a shake of his head. "This place looks cool though! I'm glad we're exploring it."

Christian stared longingly at the ticket Jun taunted in front of him. "I don't know why she wouldn't. I've been nothing but a perfect gentleman." With a heavy sigh he joined his friend in doing a sweep in the room, and on a guess hunch he walked over to the sofa and boldly shoved his head in between the cushions. His bravery was rewarded, as his fingers brushed against a stiff, but small, piece of paper before he yanked it out.
"I guess she's just the type to play games," Christian boasted, waving the ticket around just like Jun had before he tucked it away and waltzed back over. He grinned, then nodded his head to Jun's wager. "Yeah. I'll bet you a whole meal." He was feeling lucky!

Onto the kitchen, Christian's favorite room in every instance but this one. "Mm. Sort of. I've been staying with a friend this past week, and she's not much of a cook. So, take-out's pretty much all I've known." And he certainly wasn't complaining! Am had known some good restaurants.
Hands in his pockets, he peered down at the fridge, the winner of their bet hidden by a worn out door. "I'm going with brains. I bet the fridge the doctor has in the basement is overflowing, so he had to relocate a few organs." Confident in his choice, Christian waited eagerly for Jun to open the door. Though his response was far from what he'd expected. The blonde was only able to catch a whiff of something foul before Jun closed the door shut.
"Pssh. I didn't expect you to be so easily grossed out." Christian shook his head, then gently shooed Jun out of the way so that he could peer into the fridge itself. What he found... "Huh." He reached his hand farther into the fridge, empty, save for a single... ticket; whatever had been in the fridge before was gone now. He pulled it out, along with a satisfying grin, before he turned to Jun.
"So, I guess we were both wrong. Though, I have to say... I'm disappointed in you." Waving the ticket like a flag, Christian 'tsk'ed gently, before patting Jun's shoulder. "Well, that's alright. I won't hold it against you -- too much, at least." He placed the ticket into his pocket, where the other one rested, before turning his back onto the fridge. "Well, let's continue on!"

Dune wriggled and laughed. [ "It depends. It might just look like a cave! B-but when everyone came out to say hello it would be a bunch of yellow heads!" ] He shifted his wings, thinking of the difference between him and the other dunsparce they represented. [ "Most dunsparce aren't black like me." ] Ledian had assured him that that was normal, if rare, for pokemon.
[ "Y-yeah but... let's not touch anything." ] Dune eyed ledian, who was able to fly high enough to look into the displays.

Jun backed away, happy to let Christian experience the fridge for himself. He took an extra step back, just in case a swift retreat was needed. From his position the fridge's insides were blocked by its door. He watched Christian reach in, further, and further and further... His eyes widened. What the ******** just barely managed to school his expression into one that looked possibly a bit miffed instead of absolutely shocked. Seriously, what the ********>. Instead of shrugging Christian's hand off his shoulder, Jun shrugged. Cheeky little s**t.
He had to check the fridge before they left though. He opened it, and stared at the empty shelves. A single ticket lay in the center of the top. Where the- what the- how the- Jun took out the ticket, looking for some kind of mechanism inside and finding none. Even the scent was gone. He sighed and straightened, closing the door and following after Christian.
