Using the phone to their advantage sounded like a good idea, but any good idea was potentially a double-edged sword. Jamie didn't say much about it either way, though he did glance at Jeremiah, wondering what, if anything, he'd decide to do. Being a responsible adult must be hard.

Even as they moved on to the next room, Jamie walked in silence. He didn't immediately answer Shiloh's question, though he did look over at him shortly to show he'd heard.

The video playing here was strange, but it held onto his attention almost solidly for a few minutes before it began to loop. It all felt so surreal. What was this place? What were they doing here? Why did it feel so much like a dream that Jamie hoped he'd wake up soon? In the end, he knew what was happening was real. It was all so... unfortunate. He laughed to himself. What an understatement.

"I'm..." Jamie dipped his head, eyes locked on the floor. "I'm not really okay," he admitted, though he knew neither of them were. "Not hurt, but I-I feel so... I don't even know. I dunno, Shiloh." He was tightly holding his own hands. "I just dunno..."

The more he listened to the others moving around the unusual room, the more out of place everything began to feel.

The room doesn't look right and Chris wants to hover in the doorway but instead follows Algie in, glancing around. He makes sure Jamie and Shiloh are safe, or at least not too far in, before taking a glance under the table and generally searching the room for anything odd.

It could be nothing, but there was something playing that didn't seem right and it felt like someone or something was around.

Had Shiloh been a more intrinsic humanitarian, he might have taken something away from the video and connected it to their situation. Instead he just watched as Gramps #2 took a look around the room. What he was doing, Shiloh wasn't sure, but he wouldn't question it.

"It's okay..." his voice was a little softer, bumping his shoulder against Jamie's. Honestly, he was scared to death too (more for others than himself) but he wasn't about to admit it. "To not be okay, I mean."

Not that Shiloh was especially the consoling type, but he did at least know that much. "C'mon, let's get out of here." he wished he meant the whole hellhole, but he really only meant the weird unnerving room. He held his hand out.

Even the shoulder bump took a moment to pull his eyes from the floor, but Jamie looked up eventually. Not at Shiloh, but at the wall. Not at anyone else in the room, either. It wasn't until Shiloh held out his hand that Jamie looked over. Even then it took his eyes a moment to actually focus.

"Okay..." he muttered, on the fence about wanting to or not. He didn't want to be in here, but he didn't want to go too far, either. "Just... right outside the door, okay?" He took Shiloh's hand.

Jeremiah watched the speech on the screen before he nodded towards Algie who was already moving to turn it off. It was weird, if he were honest, that it was playing now of all times.

The speech was rather poignant.

"I don't think so," he replied to Jamie. "Just because we don't know that all of the others affected are friends are not or in contact with her." Except Jeremiah was giving it thought for a moment but pushed it aside. Later, he would check out the phone later for more texts. "We don't want to bring any more attention to anyone hiding."

Instead he was, of course, checking underneath the table in this room as well.

"Yeah, just outside the door." it would be a better vantage point anyway. He could keep tabs on the group on the other side. Plus, maybe it could give them both a moment to breath. His face still wasn't that reassuring when he took Jamie's hand, but he gave it a small squeeze, noting how absolutely ******** foreign and weird holding someones hand was. His hand was so soft and Shiloh's were so rough and it was just generally weird and—okay, now wasn't the time to be distracted.

"Yeah..." was his single word response to Jeremiah. At least it was food for thought. He glanced up, considering saying something more.

Instead he went back to tugging on Jamie, leading the twosome out of the room. There seemed to be a commotion on the other side, but nothing violent (yet). Instead he looked to Jamie again, wondering if there was something he could say, something he could do. It was hard. They were both eighteen, both confused as hell, both definitely not okay. What the ******** was he supposed to do?

"After all of this," he paused, leaning against the wall, still holding onto his hand for as long as Jamie wanted, "We should go get icees or something."

America wanted to turn off the projector. The video was getting on her nerves, not because of the message, but the way the black and white, gently flickering passion filled the undisturbed room. Right next door a boy had been attacked. Across the way, Lara was being...

Reaching for the off switch, her hand paused and she asked the others, "D'you think it kept this room...safe? White noise covering over anyone in here?"
PostPosted: Sun May 22, 2016 12:32 pm

"Maybe... it'll be of some other help," he responded to Jeremiah as they stepped outside. Though he wasn't sure it would be, he had his hopes. If it was, he might feel useful for finding it. At least a little bit.

When he and Shiloh made it out of the room, Jamie stared out across the expanse of the second floor, watching the other side, feeling that same sense of surreality weighing on him. Do you think we'll see another one soon? was a thought that crossed his mind, one that had been crossing his mind since they subdued who he could only assume was Finley. Part of him wanted to ask Shiloh, but another didn't. That side prevailed.

Honestly, Jamie was glad it had.

"That, um... would be nice," he said with a hint of a smile that didn't quite manage to manifest. Not only nice, but normal. All Jamie wanted was normal, even though he was beginning to understand he'd never be normal again. Fingers tapped occasionally against Shiloh's hand. "Would trying the red icee be worth it..?"

"Detective Mercer. We have Lupin here, but she has been bitten; the wound looks very bad. The rogue is dead."

The radio crackled to the life and Jeremiah's heart sunk as he was crouched next to the table. His eyes went to Algie and then to America and Falco. Those that knew her. There was no mention of Cerby and that-

"Autumn," his voice comes over the radio and it's clear he's not talking to Shun because he knows she'll hear, "can you do anything for her? Kuroda, if she can't and Lara is not a danger, get her escorted down stairs ASAP for attention."

"Christ-" Alg murmured at the news. He didn't know what to say, but it seemed like they'd all been warned a bit too late if she'd fought and killed a were in the meantime. Hadn't she been talking to some of the others at the elevators? He'd simply lost track once they'd split.

Someone please get her downstairs, he willed silently, where she should have been all along.

"Hell no." his voice was deadpan, struggling to be something—anything—smarmy, or sarcastic, or comforting but... there was a weight to it, heavy and serious but damn him if he wasn't trying. "Always go for the blue one..."

He paused when he heard the radio cracking from inside the room, but the words were indistinguishable. It was probably better to blot them out anyway. Shiloh didn't want to be ignorant—none of them could afford to—but his head was hurting and his heart was hurting and he was trying so damn hard to be strong. He didn't want to cry— except he did, from sheer frustration. 'Deep breaths' had become a mantra playing on repeat in his head. He needed to be calm, needed to be focused, needed to be there for Jamie.

"Maybe not right after this." he added, face scrunching up in thought. He looked over at Jamie again—really looked at him, taking in the ears and the tail and the feet. "Do you think that stuff is gonna be there forever?" wait, he didn't want to freak him out more, but it was a valid question. "It doesn't like... hurt you, does it?"

He was thinking to the other weres—the rogue ones—the pain and mass confusion and hysteria they'd been in. Jamie was so calm, and so was Lily, and even the other guy... well, calm as in not-actively-trying-to-murder-people.

Oh...

Oh no...

Falco's face fell at the announcement over the radio, and he looked to America, avoiding Lily's gaze, maybe on purpose. She'd been confident the other team would get there first, but they'd both heard the other survivor... It was nice to hold onto that fantasy for a little while but...

But she was bitten, and he didn't know what happened to her dog, and he didn't want to think about it, so instead he looked around for Hot Lips, hoping to scoop the cat up like a blanket because...

...Well it hurt. It was like a gut punch, and he didn't know why it should be. He'd thought she was just some... weird teacher with a service dog this morning. Someone who he had, admittedly... maybe even blamed for becoming tied up in this weirdness... but.

And the rogue was dead. And that hurt too because he'd kind of been hoping they could save everyone. The poor b*****d probably never even came sane enough to know what had been happening to him. Just pain and anger and then more pain and anger.

"....This ******** sucks..." Understatement of the goddamn decade.

A small almost laugh was the most confirmation Shiloh got for his icee advice. It was taken to heart, though. Jamie would stick to blue. It was something to look forward to if- when they got out of here.

"I wonder what's going on..." Jamie muttered, catching the crackle of the radio just as Shiloh had, though the tone of his voice said he didn't expect an answer. "I hope Lucas is okay..." It was kinda hard, being separated from the rest of the Pack that had brought him comfort as he dealt with the inevitability of his own change. Lucas was in just as much danger as they were trolling around up here for the rouge, and he missed Eve's comforting presence, though he hoped beyond hope she was safe downstairs.

In the middle of his wishing, eyes alert and still scanning the area, Shiloh's question caught him off guard.

"Hurt...?" he asked, looking over, then lets his eyes drop to the floor. "It doesn't hurt, not right now. We, um, we went through the change in Other Ashdown. If... you go through it here, I-I think that's when y-you end up like the rouges..." Shaking his head, he let out a small sigh. "I-I dunno what exactly's gonna happen with all this... stuff." He motioned to his ears. "We weren't told a lot..."

"Other Ashdown...?" Shiloh met Jamie's eyes, face perplexed. Jamie did say he'd try and explain everything to him, but Shiloh wasn't sure if prying now would be a good idea. At least, not when they were trying to breathe. He was maddeningly curious though; being kept in the dark was a terrible feeling.

"Is Lucas the tall b*****d from before?" he didn't want to trust that guy (he sure as hell didn't like him) but Jamie seemed attached to him... his mind wandered back to the whole "Pack" thing. He was trying not to feel bitter about the whole situation given that it was affecting Jamie more than anything, but he wondered how long all of this had been going on. Surely not that long, right? When he met Jamie a few weeks ago, he...

Shiloh sighed. "I mean, not that it matters much." he stuffed his free hand in his pocket. "Are there any others like you? I know there was that... girl." he squinted as he tried to recall all the memories. Honestly, he had been so hopped up on adrenaline that it was hard to remember the finer details of much. "I just... what Thorne and Chris were saying about the Pack thing, I don't..."

    Don't what? Understand?

"Sorry, sorry..." he was starting to work himself up again. "You don't have to explain anything right now." he turned his attention away, grip starting to loosen as he looked around.

"I don't know if I can, chief. She was bit, and- and I take some of the pain. I don't know if that magic will bleed into me or turn me-

"And she's not responding. At all. We have no idea what to do with her, she's a warg and. And her dog is dead and I'm kind of freaking out here.

"I'll try to get Lucas and Shun to take her down. They're strong. And- and shun can update you when he goes.

"Get her downstairs. And chief, maybe see if you can send Algie her way? With. With the hand thing."

Jeremiah's fingers clench tightly around the radio when Autumn's voice comes back. Some part of him wants to be say something else but he doesn't. It's not the time and things are too far gone at this point anyway.

"Take deep breaths, we will get through this," he tells her, to be reassuring, because he knows she's likely not that far away from snapping; it's a lot to handle, this night, "and do what you've lined up. That's the best thing for now."

Then he turns to Algie and looks at him. It cannot be good, at all, for a warg to lose their animal counterpart. For a moment it is clear in his eyes, just to Algie, that there may be ... He shakes his head and puts the radio back on his hip.
