"No Jack they're ********' poodles," she said sarcastically, waving a hand at the beer. Should she have sobered up a bit, yes. Was she going to, no.

Without meaning to her hands balled into fists as arrows flew across the screen, a tiny fist pump as Eowyn took one down by slicing both legs at once. Fantasy elephant battles were ******** amazing.

A small, wheezy laugh left him at the mental image. "Nice."

Rather than give her a beer, Jack gently but firmly began to reel her in by her leg in an attempt to get her to ooze into his lap and away from the booze. Perhaps the timing would help; the battle was a little more creative than previous ones with the introduction of the whatsits. Eowyn was kicking a**, and while he preferred Elf Chick Whose Name He Kept Forgetting, it was nice to see her actually do something aside from begging for various things.

Chel let out a low, earthy laugh and succumbed to his reeling willingly. She'd been itching to return to between his legs anyways.

The back of her head rested comfortably on his shoulder; so close she could feel his breath on the rim of her ear. She took his arms like a seatbelt across her stomach, secure and safe.

Chel only leaned forward as the action increased and she even gave a little, "Yeahhh!!" as Aragorn led the ghost army into battle. It was ******** sweet and a well deserved release after two hours of teasing.

Even better that Eowyn finished off with her victory and the iconic I am no man line.

Quote:
In the South of Minas Tirith, the Black Fleet arrives up the river. The Orcs gather outside the ships, expecting reinforcements. However, instead, Aragorn leaps off the ships, followed by Legolas and Gimli. Gimli says that there is plenty for the both of them and let the best Dwarf win. Then, the huge Army of the Dead charges out onto the battlefield, slaying the Orcs, Aragorn leading the charge with Legolas and Gimli behind him.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, as the Witch-king moves in to kill Éowyn, arrogantly telling her that his power prevents any man from killing him, Merry suddenly stabs the wraith in the leg with his sword from Rohan, wounding himself in the process. As the Witch-king shrinks from the blow, Éowyn approaches with her sword drawn. Removing her helmet, Éowyn defiantly counters that she is no man and stabs him through his face. The Witch-king implodes and is destroyed.

Jack further obliged her by pulling blankets over them until they were both snug under several layers, just in time for the battle to kick it up another notch. At the very least, Lord of the Rings knew how to make things look epic even on a small screen. Chel's micro-reactions to each thing happening made it even better, and he couldn't help but grin to himself as a legion of ghosts took out orcs in mere seconds. He even refrained from making a comment as one of the hobbits tried to stab the wraith leader (about time the midget did something useful) and Eowyn followed up with her own kickass one-liner.

Idly, he kissed her hair. "Love you." More of it just spilling over.

Chel was distracted by the TV but managed to tear her eyes away to return his sentiment with a short kiss. She was unsure why he'd say it now when she was probably at the nerdiest she'd ever been, but then, Jack was still hard to figure out even after all this time.

The aftermath of the battle swelled; Theoden died, Eowym was assumed dead but then wasn't, and events moved on. Chel played with the ends of Jack's hair while they did.

"See, he did have the ring," Chel said pointedly, "You just gotta be more patient."

Quote:
Shagrat commands them to kill Gorbag, and a huge fight ensues between the Orcs and the Uruks. In the fight, most of the Orcs in the tower and Uruks are killed in the huge orc-to-orc fight. Outside the tower, Sam arrives and finds the whole place filled with dead bodies of the slain Orcs and Uruk-hai. Sam then goes to search for Frodo, and kills the surviving Orcs in a moment of intense courage. However, unknown to Sam, Shagrat makes his escape with the Mithril vest. At the top of the tower, Frodo tries to pull himself free from his bonds, but is suddenly confronted by Gorbag, who says that he is going to kill Frodo. However, before he does, Sam arrives, who kills Gorbag in anger.

Letting the dead Orc fall to the floor, Sam then greets Frodo, who apologizes for sending Sam away, but is distressed because he has lost the Ring. Sam than says that he hasn't, and produces it from his pocket, saying that he'd taken it from Frodo's unconscious body so the Orcs wouldn't find it. Sam begins to hand it back to Frodo and momentarily pauses, having been mesmerized by the Ring's power. Frodo brings him back from the Ring's spell and explains that the power of the Ring would destroy Sam’s soul. Sam returns it to Frodo, saying that they must leave and finish the Quest.

He just hummed with a smile to himself. It was less about being patient and more about giving the movie a hard time. Jack really was enjoying himself, even when he gave the impression that he was less than impressed; it wasn't a habit he would be breaking anytime soon.

"Just want them to chuck the damn thing already," he said. "I'm as sick of it messing with them as they are at this point."

It somehow melded with Chel's personality well then; she had an insatiable need to please and would always rise to Jack's gestures.

"S'the journey not the endin', right?" she said with a s**t-eating grin. "Just sit tight, love- s'almost done."

Quote:
It is time to enter Mordor. Inside Minas Tirith, Aragorn and his allies decide that the time has come. If Frodo is to succeed with his Quest, he must cross the Plains of Gorgoroth, however, Ten thousand Orcs are on those plains. Gandalf believes that he has sent Frodo to his death, but Aragorn says that there is still hope for him - they could draw Sauron's armies out of Mordor through the Black Gate of Morannon. This will empty the plains of Gorgoroth of Sauron's army and allow Sam and Frodo the chance to reach Mount Doom. Gandalf says that Sauron will suspect a trap; he will not take the bait. Aragorn, however, says that he will.

At night, Aragorn uses the Palantír to tempt Sauron, saying that long has the Dark Lord haunted him, and long has he eluded him, but no more. Aragorn then goes to reveal to Sauron the blade of Elendil - Anduril. However, Sauron shows Aragorn a vision of Arwen dead and Aragorn, in his grief, drops the seeing stone, smashing the Evenstar. However, luckily, the ploy works and the fields of Mordor empty.

And it certainly looked like it. Aragorn was even taunting Sauron, which he had to give the guy some credit for. For that reason, and for a more subtle one, Jack chose not to taunt him for falling for the vision of Arwen's death. Who knew; maybe he was just too used to them to see the full impact anymore.

As the army of orcs ran full tilt towards the assembled allies, he asked, "Think we'll end up in a war like that?"

Under the blanket Chel's hand ran calming circles on his arm as the vision played forth. These had originally been funny movies to enjoy with the shield of "it's fantasy," but now she was all too aware that they had a hard time watching any movies with serious drama in it. It became too much of a mirror; this was why she preferred music anyways.

"Wouldn't be surprised," she told him. "Keep waitin' for Caelius to pull the sirens and tell us we're doin' a full scale invasion. Least for now we still can't enter Halloween. Least they still got a place." For now.

In that way, Chel was almost glad for the existence of horsemen. A distraction that captured both sides' attention long enough to keep them from going at each other. She wasn't sure which side she would have fought for if that was the case.

"I'm good with the quiet we got goin' now."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2016 1:07 pm

"Yeah..." Maybe he shouldn't have said it aloud; the possibility alone was stressing enough without Chel reminding him it was a very real one. He didn't have the quite the same ties to Halloween as she did, though he was determined to try and fix that, but he had his own special fascination with the place that could be threatened.

And that wasn't counting if other forces massed. The circles traces on his arm, normally just a calming motion, reminded him of Ouroboros. What were they up to now? Horsemen were bad enough, but hunters just like them...They had something to do with the grail before, if his strange dream had revealed anything. And if that could go so awry, what else was out there...

"Yeah," he murmured again without thinking. "S'what Owain said at the wedding too, before the ceremony. Have to appreciate it when it happens."

"At least we got us," Chel said, spoken from her lionheart. "Team Hawthorn, woo~"

"Naw, I think most people are happy for it. Was a long time comin'," she reminded him, giving him a wiggle before squeezing his arms.

Then began what was easily the coolest part of the movie; the hoards of orcs, Aragorn's heroic speech. Chel was actually quiet for that part, only giving Jack a nudge.

"Most people"? He was pretty sure outside their social group (and barely counting Chel's ever growing number of acquaintances), nobody gave a s**t. But then, being a self-centered as they were, it didn't matter; Jack was personally glad they didn't cause a big splash.

So there it was, the final battle. As orcs amassed around the army of men, Aragorn gave his pre-battle speech, and Chel nudged him for some reason. He only glanced at her curiously before looking back to the screen attentively.

The battle, of course, had to be cut with scenes of Frodo and Sam making their way up the volcano. But he had to scoff as the eagles made their debut, muttering, "Now they decide to come."

Chel would hit him if he brought it up a bit later but even despite knowing the ending, knowing that things all worked out in the end, watching the fellowship despair over Frodo's presumed death was still upsetting for some reason. Maybe because the idea of trying your hardest and still failing terrified her more than anything.

"Yeah that's the big joke-" she said, choking on her own words before wiping her face with her sleeve. "Coulda just sent the eagles the whole time."
