Somehow, this situation he found himself in was oddly familiar. Fighting against a doppleganger? Had he not just done the same thing a few Octobers ago?
(Did Christmastown only have Twelfth Octobers? He wondered...)
This one was wearing an absolutely hideous sweater though, and that meant that it clearly had to go. Besides, he was tired of all this fighting. Couldn't they just cool down, sit down, and all get along? He had to bring kindness back to Halloween, instead of all of this competition.
(Later, Ignatius would likely reflect on the fact that he loved competition, but the feeling that was enveloping him at this time didn't leave much room for that affection.)
He decided that it was time to get to business, so he suddenly stopped thinking and shot his hands out and blasted the enemy with all he had. It gave a bit of recoil, shoving him back a bit with the force, but in all honesty, his enemy seemed much more crippled by the blast. Considerably more, in fact. A victorious smirk spread on Ignatius' lips, but he couldn't get too ahead of himself...

Since he did considerable damage on the first shot, Ignatius was, admittedly, quite confident in his ability to finish this thing off. So much, that instead of going back to his FEAR right away, he instead decided to simply start slinging small bursts of electricity at his doppelganger.
Of course, it was a doppelganger, which meant it too was made of electricity. Perhaps it did not react quite as intensely as he would have expected, but it still seemed to push the doppelganger back. He rubbed his arm slightly where a return shot was slung, but he was not ready to stand down by any stretch of the imagination.
A small setback. It was fine.

The next shot was, unfortunately, a much bigger setback.
Ignatius figured that perhaps, he should take a shot at another FEAR, after all. His chain lightning might not be too effective here, but perhaps his newest developed FEAR might have more of an impact. At least, that was what he had thought before he shot it off and saw the electricity that he shot disappear somewhere deep into the relative emptiness that surrounded them.
And, of course, he still took a shot to the gut from the doppelganger. Ignatius cringed slightly, stepping back to reevaulate the moves he was making.

Alright, that was fine. No more FEAR then. Or perhaps just not that FEAR. Against this ugly sweatered doppelganger, anyway.
Not that he could use it again right now. Otherwise, he'd probably just go back to his plasma blast. That seemed like the easiest way to win, considering how much that had torn the doppelganger up the first time...
Ignatius was so busy smirking about how awesome that plasma blast had been that he completely missed that the doppelganger was actually still there until he got smacked once again. Oh, right. Suddenly snapping out of it, he loaded some electricity into his foot and kicked the doppelganger and its terrible ugly sweater back.

Now that Ignatius had managed to snap himself out of his distraction, he got himself into a fairly good rhythm with his attacks. In fact, he managed to quickly swap to his other leg, hitting the doppelganger for another hit in the ugly sweatered torso, knocking it back again.
The doppelganger did not appreciate this and shot back, but Ignatius could truly feel the upper hand returning, and the smug lightning elemental had a grin on his face, advancing closer...

The doppelganger tried to stop Ignatius, but there was no stopping Ignatius now. Shrugging off the further damage he received like it was nothing, he swung around and punched it, fist sparking. That seemed to do it, evidently. "HA!" And Ignatius probably took it a bit too seriously, kicking at the spot where the doppelganger had been. "See that?! That's what happens when you try to fight me!" He was stopped and given a medal, though he noted with some sadness that there was no sweets this time. Though, at least he had restored kindness. Right? That was what this fight was supposed to accomplish? He poked at the green heart pin on his tank top, before shrugging it off and heading to the stands. Arrakis' HP: 30-2= 28 Doppelganger's HP: 30 - 2(STR) - 4(LCK) - 14(FEAR) = 10 Damage this turn: 14 Turn Count: 1/15
Arrakis honestly didn't know if he should be offended or not by the sweater that his doppelganger was wearing. The two of them sized each other up, the doppelganger seeming to mirror Arrakis' initial hesitance. He took a deep breath and shook that off, however. He could do this. He would do this. It was his doppelganger, so it couldn't be any stronger or faster or better at fighting than he was, right?
Right.
Theoretically.
Onward!
Arrakis immediately dove in close to his doppelganger, pulling his sword and slashing once, twice, three, four, five, six times, making sure to stay light on his feet to keep out of the range of similar retaliatory attacks. Twist, turn, duck, step forward, step backward. Each one landed, though some much more soundly than others. Maybe it was luck, or maybe it was something else, but the doppelganger looked decidedly worse for the wear by the time they broke back apart.
Arrakis realised, then, that he had indeed been scored by his opponent, hissing a little when he took notice of the slash wound on his left arm. It wasn't deep, but it was still there. At least it wasn't his dominant arm, he reflected, as the two of them circled each other again. He did note that his opponent moved similarly, and he found himself impressed at how accurate of a doppelganger his opponent was. Could he use that to his advantage, maybe? Try to predict where the other would be?
One way to find out.

It turned out, he realised, that trying to predict his copy's movements based on his own was not going to work out very well. He'd circled back in, sword at the ready, hoping to find tells in how the other stood, but nothing stood out to him. They looked in similar directions and shifted similar ways, but that didn't really actually help him any. He didn't know what to do with it, to be honest, and he was realizing the difference between theory and practice, between thinking about how to do something and actually knowing how to do it.
Well, knowing how to do something, knowing practice, came with experience, right? He didn't have any, but there was only one way to change that. Arrakis dove forward again, twisting and bringing his sword to bear. His sword bit empty space at the same time as he felt his doppelganger's criss-cross the cut he'd already been given. Arrakis jerked back and muttered something unkind under his breath. Alright, alright, fine. Time to try that again.

Arrakis' HP: 26-2= 24 Doppelganger's HP: 10 - 0 = 10 Damage this turn: 0 Turn Count: 3/15
This time, he attempted the strategy of not giving his copy much time to think about what to do. Maybe if he pressed in, he could force his copy to make a mistake, and then Arrakis would be able to land a solid blow, right? So Arrakis spun into a strike without warning, coming in very close very quickly. It wasn't a strategy that he was terribly comfortable with, as he worried that being so close would make him an easier target to hit. He could also be grabbed or pushed, or any number of things, really. But none of his other ideas so far had worked, so this was worth a shot at least.
Until, well, it turned out that this did not work either. He came away with another cut, this time across the bridge of his nose, without having landed any kind of strike on his opponent. The cut on his nose stung like nothing else and he resisted the urge to wipe at it, hoping it would scab over quickly. In the meantime, he had a match to win. Onward!

In, out, turn, dodge, swipe... Arrakis was not having any success with this. It seemed his early success had been a bit of beginner's luck. He supposed it was a good thing that at least his copy wasn't landing any staggering blows either. They could both suck, and they could do it together, apparently. Arrakis supposed that his luck had to turn around sometime, right? He couldn't just keep being bad at this, could he? Eventually he'd be able to land another blow. There was no way his doppelganger could be that much more agile than he--they were supposed to be the same, after all! So if it were a matter of luck, surely the other's would run out at some point?
Well, as long as Arrakis were still standing and able to try to turn this back into his favour, there was still a chance. He wasn't about to let that chance go, either, and he steeled himself for another swing in towards his opponent. Remember, Arrakis, they were supposed to be fairly evenly matched, being that that was his copy. Was it eerie fighting himself? Sure, absolutely, but it wouldn't be impossible, right? Right. Alright, on more time! He could do this!

He was still not having any luck with this. Arrakis knew he wasn't exactly the most proficient fighter around, but he was starting to think this was a little ridiculous. He was going to have put some time into practice on his own, because this wasn't any good. His doppelganger was landing more hits than he was! Glancing blows, sure, but those were going to start adding up if Arrakis didn't get a move on and get another couple of hits in.
He tried again paying attention to his opponent's body language, seeing if he couldn't find something, anything really, that might give away what the other was fixing to do or where he was fixing to go. Was his doppelganger wondering the same thing, he wondered? It was hard to tell. Neither of them were particularly chatty. Aside from Arrakis' periodic swearing under his breath, neither of them had said anything to or about the other. On the one hand, fewer distractions were nice. On the other, it was harder to gauge if his copy was any more reckless than he was.
He was going to guess "no", judging by their results. Well, he wasn't going to win this by standing around thinking about it. Time to try again.

Almost! He'd almost gotten a blow in! Arrakis had made the strike, but it'd been blocked by the other him. His arm still tingled from the impact as they broke back apart and went back to circling one another. But hey, a blocked strike was better than a missed one. Maybe his doppelganger was getting tired? That would be fortunate, wouldn't it? As much as Arrakis would like a victory based entirely in overpowering his opponent, he couldn't argue against the value of attrition. If he won, and he won honestly, did it really matter how it happened?
Well, either way, he needed to not get too far ahead of himself. An almost hit still wasn't an actual successful strike. He, himself, was starting to feel tiredness setting in as his copy kept landing glancing cut after glancing cut. He couldn't argue against the value of attrition, even if it was being used against him. Arrakis was just going to have to try and make sure that attrition hit his copy harder and faster than it hit him. That meant he already had some catching up to do. Alright, one more time...
