Saraf Post 5

Saraf gave the Matori man a long look before turning back to Kalli, "I am glad to hear that he wasn't going violent." He was also glad to hear that the man wasn't the woman's lover or something. The very last thing he wanted was to get himself caught up into some sort of spat between them. Knowing it wasn't something like that put him at ease. Crossing his arms over his chest he gave a half shrug, "Well, without the proper training one isn't really ready for a fight. If you're considering getting in any real fights, especially against someone that size, you might want to start training straight away." He suggested, not wanting to tell her that she didn't exactly look like warrior material.

"Hm?" Saraf looked toward the two 'leaders' and gave a snort, "I think that we should be liistening to the words of our King or perhaps Lady Naevius, not that of one who is a known traitor and war prisoner." He said it simply before he looked away from the pair that were making decisions that were, in his opinion, not theirs to make.

That would be wonderful!

Keelthy Post 4

Keel smiled at the lady and danced a little for her on the spot sans blades. "There are a few of us out there, I think maybe there will be more around soon, it is somewhat rare still but its something I have always loved to do. Reill helped, swordplay is like a dance with rigid rules and dire consequences."

"Well, guards and the army might not be so far spaced as you think. Coordination and something like that." Keel waved a hand, that was Reillan's deal, tactics and armies and blargh.

Reillan Post 4

Reill nodded, "Yes, I'm sure they have talked at some point. Maybe not overly familiar but we have heard your name before." Reillan thumbed the handle of his sword. It was nice to chat, but in the back of his mind Yi still haunted him, where was she was she safe? "Do you happen to know if any mail is coming through? We have a friend in Chibale for the festival, and we are deeply concerned over her welfare."

Xarthin would protect her but he hadn't really had any official battle training, if the alks were particularly skilled then they could get around or through him to Yitzah. He highly doubted she would have the patience to act like a crazy alk in order to save herself until they could scoop her up. He was sure she didn't agree, or so he hoped, alks hadn't been very kind to her.

Irrohna Post 4

"A janarim?" Her eyes widened, "You must be rather good then, I hear they are very very difficult and they look it too, biiiig teeth." she gestured with her hands and giggled.

"It sounds like a wonderfully exciting profession, if I liked the big critters more I might have gone that way, but I'm a little intimidated."

"Oh really five babies? That would be wonderful, what do they look like?" She asked, "I'm very interested it can get kind of lonely and it would be relief to have a constant companion, maybe they could even scout for me when I treasure hunt.Or are they built for scouting or just a pet?" And she could spoil it beyond reason. Now that they were talking about it she realized that she had a sort of hole in her life and a perzi would fit it perfectly. "I'll have to learn more about them."

Kalliope Post 6

With this man looking toward the Matorian she had just walked away from she also turned to look. He seemed to be talking to someone now. Kalli frowned but let the subject go before she brought her attention back to Saraf. He mentioned getting training if she were going to fight someone, especially if they were bigger than her. The small dancer have a bit of a giggle and pulled her skirt away from her upper thigh to show a sheath with a dagger hidden away. "I can use one of these, does that count?" She was still smiling.

Traitor? Kalliope blinked and cast her red eyes in the direction of their tribe's leader. Surely he wasn't such a thing. "Do you think the king will agree with the people or will he keep us here?" She wondered out loud. Giving her attention back to the Oban male she found herself curious. "Do you want to go to war?"

"Mine too, that's for sure! None of that string-playing for me; it's pretty alright, but I like to make a lot more noise than that."

He grinned, pleased to hear that someone -- an Oban beast-tamer, even -- had the same musical tastes as him. He joined her in surveying the varied crowd. Some of the Obans (and yes, the Matori too) had stuck to their own kind throughout the debate, but others had begun to spread out (some, admittedly, did so only to start arguments). After a long time of seeing just one or the other, it was sort of thrilling... but it also made him nervous.

"None yet." He echoed her sentiment. "But if they go to war, there sure will be. And if the reinforcements are put under the control of an Oban general, things might begin to look a lot like what they once were."

Abie Post 4

Abie sighed as he looked at Incanthis. Not knowing really about the others family ties, he knew at first glance Mave's large offspring seemed...worrisome. He stepped back to lean into Incanthis' side muttering in his ear. "Its alright. Mentor wouldn't socialize with someone who had ill intent towards children. Besides, what everyone doesn't know...and Mave's kept secret. 15 of the 23 aren't his, their war orphans he took in. A few of the older ones are hybrids. Usually they keep hidden. Ah...look."

Abie nodded as a hooded youth picked up the missed orbs in a basket and set the item beside Mave. Their green eyes sparkled as the girl smiled at the trio before she muttered something. Mave's tender smile in turn and his gently pat to her shoulder dismissed her softly into the back. The Oban glanced to the trio and nodded. Abie's breath tickled Incanthis' ear as he chuckled. "That was Jeva. You'll see her around Mentor's stables along with a few others that Mave is raising."

He straigthened and cracked his knuckles. "Alright Mave...one more time."

Mave sighed as he tossed a orb to the water youth. "Alright. If you make it this time, Abie. You get to pick two prizes...just cause I know you'll pout."

Abie pouted. "I don't pout."

Mave didn't look phased.

Aqio Post 4

Aqio on the other hand had picked up a cloth doll of a Janarim. It was blues and purples, something the water male rather liked himself. He looked up and leaned on the counter as he watched his brother speak to Incanthis. Tilting his head, Aqio was alert of the shifter in his own way. The other had quickly become a valuable member of the household. His knowledge of healing and skills were something their Mentor had been lacking. Playing with the tail on the Janarim toy he watched Incanthis. Humming as he watched Mave interact with his second eldest daughter.

He leaned back as the female gave him a quick hug then went on her merry way. Looking back to his twin and friend he merely sat there and stared. Waiting for his brother to toss the orb already.

Eleina - Post Five
She nodded. That's sort of what she figured. They wouldn't turn down help when it was needed. "I can do that, and who knows. Maybe I will."' she doubted it though. That would mean not being able to look in on Myrsky like she had been doing. And it meant she really wouldn't be able to travel, or do as she wished. No she didn't think joining the army was her kind of thing.

Looking around she smiled. "The two races seem to be getting along pretty well, better then I expected if I'm honest."

Ichil- post 4

Ichil smiled brightly at the proffered dance. Well, that was a welcome distraction at a time like this. Keelthy really did have a rather nice shape, didn't he? She offered an appreciative laugh at the mention of coordination or 'something like that,' but his brother spoke with sudden urgency. Her smile flickered away naturally and she turned to him.

"As of the moment I think mail is coming through, but that may change soon." If their friend was stupid enough to try and fight the supposed extremists she may well be in trouble. Ichil herself didn't know any Alkidikes closely enough to be considered friends. "I'm sure you'd be able to get her before things get nasty." If they got nasty. She wasn't so sure that was true, but maybe it was a bit comforting to hear?

Sebastien- post 4

"Well, I certainly like to think I am," he teased, offering the woman that same sideways grin. He nodded when the perzi kittens came up again and he nodded, rocking back on his heels a moment.

"Yeah! Well they're all different. Most have pink gems and spots, but there's one with stripes. Nobody know who their daddy is, so it's kind of a grab-bag. So if this all... peters off you can come right back with me, but if it... uh." He turned to the clan leaders. "If there's a battle brewing, you know where to find me, yeah? If you ask for me by name I'm sure somebody can lead you my way." The kittens were, after all, living just outside his room under a little lean-to he'd set up himself.

Illian Post 5

One of the Obans that had been speaking to Illian made a face at Jelanii's words, "I never said anything about not being a part of my family, just that I, as a member, am trying to make amends. I've already had my good intentions thrown in my face before. We know now that what was going on was wrong, but it's hard to undo decades of doing in a few years. It's like telling a Kinfa that they can fly when all they've been doing their entire life is walking. It takes time and patience." He spread his hands, "But this is neither here nor there and I'm sure I can talk until the sun goes down without you believing a lick of what I'm saying. If you don't want to fight beside an Oban, that's fine. Just know that unless there's some fancy tactical formations going out, or you're going in with a small group or solo, we as a whole will end up being weaker for it. Fighting in the ranks almost assures that these Alkidikes will win."

Illian nodded to the others words. Change happened slowly, like the waxing and waning of the moon. It would take time before anything visible could be seen, but at some peoples attitudes were in the right place.

Then Mynshaka spoke up and caught his attention. 'Moon Boy." He mouth, blinking in disbelief. That was a new one and he wasn't quite sure how he felt about it. "Jelanii-" He started, only to pause and bite his lip, "Let's just...agree to disagree on this. We have a more pressing matter to attend to, that could possibly result in us fighting Alkidikes or turning tail and fleeing."

Sanele Post 5
User Image
Sanelel chuckled; "Somehow the idea of an oban leader trying to control a group of mixed Matorians and Obans all armed to the teeth amuses me... Why do I get the feeling Alkdikes would be forgotten?" She shook her head with a smirk, that would b a disaster! Amsuing to watch maybe but not what was needed.

"If we do go.. you going? or staying behind?" She was thinking she'd go. it was a chance to see the land, help others to generate good will that she'd need down the road... Not that she intended to be on the front lines! She'd leave that to someone else who knew how to really fight, her whip was meant to tame animals or self defense... she much preferred a fist of knife in a fight. Harder to hit yourself with!

Incanthis Post 5

Incanthis gave a bit of a jump when Abie leaned in close to him, his entire body going for a moment tense. It wasn't the Water Tribesman that had put him on edge per say, it was just him being startled out of deep thought with someone so close. Forcing his heart to beat at a normal pace once more he glanced toward Abie as the young man explained to him about the one called Mave, that all of the children weren't his by blood, and that their Mentor wouldn't make friends with a user. He wanted to believe that, but it was difficult to do so at times. There was a time when Incanthis saw only the good in people, even with Issao's influence being the way it was, these days it was a lot harder to do so. He would try to believe Abie regardless since he was so insistent and seemed so trusting of Mave and his brood.

Turning his gaze toward the one named Jeva he watched her for a moment before his attention returned to the others. He supposed that if he watched enough he would get it all figured out and learn if the man before him was truly one that could be trusted. A thought that almost saddened him, that his various experiences were making him so wary. How he'd love to return to a time when only one person left him feeling like this, that person being Incanthis's own father.

"Do your best, Abie." He said, encouraging his friend before looking to Aqio who seemed content with merely playing with a stuffed janarim instead of joining his twin. Lifting a hand he reached out to ruffle the boy's fluffy hair before he said, "You should try too, Aqio. I bet you'd be good at it."

Istanell Post 5

Istanell wondered for a brief moment what it would be like, to never have your skin change. To be ignored by Serin... no... to never have felt Serin's favor in the first place. He imagined it was a very sad life, though it wasn't something he particularly wanted to ask after. Amarone's cheerful personality was refreshing, though he would be surprised if it lasted through the evening. Talks of war weren't the best mood enhancers... unless you were blood thirsty. His eyes shifted over several Oban at the thought. He watched each place she motioned to, indicating where it was most likely for the sharper crystals to grow. "...So in theory even your kind's bodies could be used as weapons." Of course, his own body could be used as a weapon, he knew that... but... he didn't have sharp crystals anywhere on his body.

His hand rose as she mentioned his facial crystals and he brushed his fingers over it, smiling softly as he thought of his brothers. It would be good to locate Incanthis and Illian, especially with all of this going on... but he'd been terrible at maintaining any sort of control with them... he was supposed to be the head of the family now but he felt increasingly like he was a big failure in the eyes of his brothers. He didn't even want to begin to think of how Isolder, Isaris and Issaly would view him. He would have gladly told her about them, strangely drawn to the wind girl. He felt comfortable speaking to her, and that was rare. But as the talks grew more negative her attention was drawn away. So he too looked to the source, nodding. He'd seen the terror of the Alkidikes, knew the misfortune they could bring. "Now is not the time to remember those who oppressed you in the past, but of those who will die if you don't step up to help. You think the Alkidikes will take captives? Bring them back to their sacred lands?" He scowled slightly, shaking his head a little. He didn't trust the Oba race… but he trusted the Alkidikes less. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend, it is good to remember."

serr post five

Serr frowned faintly. All right, so she would be very mad if he tried to remove her from the situation without her consent. He sighed. It wasn't like he wanted to go, there was just a time to look out for yourself and... fine.

"No matter what," he murmured in reluctant assent, brushing at her back and lowering his cheek to the top of her bent head. This was nice. In the midst of all the posturing, grumbling, and pointless chatter, he was pleased that he could soothe her, even if it was only by a small amount. That was what he would cling to, even as he felt himself grow antsy again.

Amarone Post 6

As soon as he said his weapon theory, Amarone's face broke into a grin and she started to laugh. The idea was amazing, and one she never pictured before. She did note that their crystals were sharper than his, but to use them as weapons was something insane in her mind - at least her weapons. However, as she caught her breath the idea became more reasonable than before.

"I'm sorry...I just pictured someone using their body as a club...and I couldn't help myself" She explained her laughter, before shaking her head and keeping her lingering smile, "Actually, I'm not sure how good that would be, could hurt some of us if we tried to attack with our crystals..but I've seen one or two people with a few more spikes that would help a bit with defense."

As he touched his face crystals, she got another excuse to look at his forehead with a bit of awe, curious if all shifters had such intricate designs. It only lasted for a long second before more shouts picked up, and he joined in on the arguments.

As he argued about enemies, she couldn't help but think about what the Obas had that they didn't. War machines and chaos, that is what this war race was about, and Amarone really wondered if he was smart to argue them being friends. She had seen first hand what they would do. Maybe they would use such machines on the enemies today, but who is to say you wont be their enemy tomorrow. She took a deep breath.

"It sounds like Sauti will be defended, which is reassuring. If only I could contact my family and ask them to flee to Zena while they have a chance."

Karothdra - Post #6

One didn’t say “maybe” to joining the army, all the people she knew who were in the army had wanted to be in it from the very beginning. Karothdra did not blame Eleina, but she didn’t think the girl would join the army and that was okay. It wasn’t made for everyone and it was for the very observation that Eleina had made. Obans didn’t get along with many other Earthlings, even Hybrids who were half Oban. She did have a point though; everyone was behaving quite well for something such as this.

“I’m quite surprised myself,” Karothdra swept her gaze. “I don’t know how long it will last once the news breaks out of whether or not we are going to war.”

Solari - Post #6

Crossing her arms, Solari decided to listen to those around her for a bit. It looked like these Alkidikes were true born warriors, what if someone went and did not return? It was a likely situation, one Solari wanted to avoid and she didn’t even have any children yet. Surely if the Alkidikes wanted the Sauti they knew that they were going to receive the wrath of others and had prepared for such a thing. Maybe an ambush, some super-secret weapon, Solari didn’t know but she didn’t want to find out. Didn’t know why anyone would take the chance either to find out.
