He heard the hesitation in Otto's voice, felt the vibrations of his movements, and Chance shifted to look at him, expression softening a little.
"Sorry," he said softly, gently knocking his head against Otto's. "Didn't mean to bring up bad memories." A breath was exhaled, Chance's eyes flickering towards his own hands. "I like to think that my mother loved me, though I doubt she ever did. She was more concerned about her boyfriends than her son."
His ribs gave a twinge, as though reminding him of the burn marks across his skin. A quiet laugh escaped him, not quite bitter, but not quite amused either; somewhere in between the two.
"Maybe that's why I am the way I am," said Chance. "But you're a better guy than me; maybe there was love there for you with her."

"How am I better? You're way nicer than me." Otto blinked up at the man, confusion in his eyes. "I mean.. if I got any good in me, it's from my Grandpa. Before he died, he was pretty much the only person in the world who'd pay attention to me." Smiled, laughed played with him. Encouraged the arts and games that a kid actually wanted to play. The movie, despite being mostly a comedy, was ignored for now.

He lifted his head to look at Otto with some surprise.
"I'm not so sure nicer is the right word," said Chance with a soft laugh. "I mean, yeah, I tend to be more relaxed about things, and you've got enough sass and snark to last you to the next millennium."
His eyes flickered a little. He rested his chin on Otto's shoulder, looking at his profile. "But you put everything of yourself into things, don't you? You tell yourself that you're not worth much, but you take the time to do things for other people because you care."
A small smile found its way onto Chance's face.
"And your grandpa sounds like a good man."

Chance tended to see the good in Otto that he himself couldn't. Or maybe just didn't. He didn't know how to respond to all of that, even though he knew it was all true. He'd just not seen them as good things at all. "He was." He murmured back. He pressed a kiss to his nose, unable to help himself when Chance was so close. "We're missin' the movie, yanno." Unless Chance was looking to open a few more emotional scars, though truth be told Otto seemed to survive that one.

The kiss to his nose was endearing. Chance's eyes fluttered a little, and he gave a little laugh.
"I know," he said, and lifted a hand, wrapping it loosely around the back of Otto's neck to draw him down again, Chance pressing a warm kiss to his lips this time. He drew back after a moment and let his fingers fall away, his forehead pressed against Otto's shoulder.
"I know this is going to sound pathetically sappy," said Chance, "But regardless, since I'm already physically pathetic right now, I'm glad I met you."
He smiled a little. "I like to think I'm learning from you about things. And, well movies too," Chance added with a laugh. "But, you know. Life s**t and all that."

A warm kiss, drawn in by his hand behind his neck, melted Otto away from worrying about his past, or the present movie getting ignored. Dammit. Trust Chance to make feel Otto just as sappy in return. Sass and (failed) machoism often fell to the wayside. "M'glad I met you too. You kinda make me better.. in some ways. Sometimes."

He snorted with laughter against Otto's shoulder.
"Sometimes," Chance deadpanned, but then he smiled. "Hopefully in good ways." And just because he was feeling sappy and pathetic, he eased himself up for another kiss, letting his fingers sift briefly through Otto's hair. He curled himself up beside Otto, relaxing a little against him.
"I know you're the one who put me on house arrest, but I'm sorry for invading your space," Chance murmured. "I seriously did not think this whole plan through."

Otto smiled lazily. "Can't say I disliked the outcome, even the means sucks a**." Of course, having someone there every day was a no go. But now and then, sitting with him on the couch, just like this... this was nice. Warm. His kisses felt good, his presence eased his tensions. Whether making him endure his trolling or enjoying the feel of his body; he enjoyed the man's company. "So you don't gotta say sorry." Because he felt a little greedy, he leaned in for another kiss.

"True," said Chance and laughed. "If there's ever a next time, I'll have to really ******** be careful, though at this rate, I seriously doubt there'll be one if this is going to be what I have to get through just for four hours of no pain at all. Cost versus benefit, and all that s**t."
The warmth was helping to soothe the ache in his bones. Chance happily accepted the offered kiss, shifting to drape both of his arms lazily around Otto's neck, reveling in the softness and the utter lack of pain that stemmed from this.
"I'm still sorry," Chance murmured against his lips. "But thank you anyway. You know. For not kicking me out on my a** or anything."

Otto smirked, "No problem. If you ever show up like that again though I really will kick you out on yer a**." Because Chance needed to learn his lesson, you see. He would have pinched the man as a warning, but... yeah. Not a good idea.

Chance snorted, too warm and comfortable to remove his arms from around Otto's neck.
"You're such a s**t," he said, rolling his eyes; but there was affection mingled with the exasperation and sass. "But if there is a next time, I..." Chance heaved a melodramatic sigh. "I promise I'll go to the infirmary, okay? There, I said it, I'll go to the infirmary like a normal human being."

"Lord help me, the idiot can learn." Otto murmured with a deadpan face. He rather liked Chance's hands around him, so why he risked losing them to sassy retort, no one knows. Otto was indeed a s**t.

He made a sputtering sound that was partially one of mock outrage and partially one of amusement at Otto's sheer cheek.
"I retract my previous statement," said Chance, winding his arms more firmly around Otto's neck and doing the only thing he thought might possibly shut him - namely kissing him firmly on the mouth.
"You're not just a s**t, you're a big s**t."

Otto wasn't easily shut up, especially when it came to open opportunities to be cheeky. Still, a kiss like that did a real good try at it. It shut him up for a good few seconds, anyway. Other than that, it really felt more like a victory than a leash to him. So words didn't happen right away, but he did smirk smugly. "Deal with it."

Otto had definitely won this round, even if Chance didn't want to admit it. He gave the smug smirk a pointed look, wondering if he could just kiss it smack off of his face, Chance easing himself a little away from Otto so that he could see him more clearly.
"You're ridiculous," he muttered, but it was clear he was trying to hide a smile. "Especially since when all of this is finally over, I'll have to deal with it, if you intend to take me up on that offer to do whatever you want for however long it takes for this to end."
