Aldrich Brandt



He sat on a barstool and nodded, the truth of the situation hitting him. "God, this isn't going to work," he bemoaned. "She's going to know. She always knows. Ava always knows when I'm up to something." He tilted his head upwards, closing his eyes and trying to think optimistically. It wasn't easy.

"Easy for you to say," he grunted, not moving his chin out of the man's grip, but darting his eyes to the side, blushing lightly at the compliments he hadn't expected. Earle didn't have an ex-wife who insisted on poking around in his personal life. Ava had to be reassured that Aldrich was as hopeless as he was when she left him. Otherwise, she wasn't satisfied and did what she could to make things suck for him.

Blushing and embarrassed at how easily drawn in he'd been, Aldrich crossed his arms and turned his back to the man. "If this backfires and she ends up inviting ourselves to our non-existent wedding, you're gonna be the one wearing the dress!" he barked before moving away and going into the kitchen. He needed to get the good whiskey out and drink himself into a stupor. He didn't like how Earle flustered him.

The man looked up at a clock, seeing the time. Ava was due to be there in a few hours. they had time to kill and he couldn't be drunk the whole time, but he sure as hell wanted to be. Downing his glass of whiskey, the man wiped his mouth with his sleeve and started for his bedroom. "I still have Jean-Luc on me. I'm going to go take a shower and get changed into something I didn't wear last night." He stormed into his bedroom, shutting the door and barricading himself inside. He didn't want to see Earle again until his blush subsided.

After about an hour, Aldrich finally came out of his bedroom, freshly showered, changed, and on the phone with his son. "Alan, I haven't seen you that much in the past few days. Your mother is coming by tonight and I still need your help with my bandages. I can't change them all by myself all the time. I need you here." He paused, leaning in the doorway. "I know you're in love, baby, but I- Okay, fine. But you better be here tomorrow afternoon when your mother comes by again. She wants to see you." He sighed after hanging up, needing a minute to breathe. Alan never had time for him anymore.

He hadn't seen the butler clone, but the guilt on Earle's face was enough to bring about suspicion. He shrugged it off, walking over to the man and rubbing the back of his neck. "It's nothing too bad. I got shot both while I was here and back in Africa when I was checking in on my mines and am still healing, so I have to change my bandages five times a day. I can't check the wound by myself, though, just slap on the bandage. If you don't mind looking at it for me, that'd be nice." He started towards the man, starting to unbutton his shirt.
The bullet wound in his right knee had already healed, his hand still having the scar, but the three bullets from the mines were healing very slowly. He still had bullet shards in his body.
Peeling off his button-up and his undershirt, his well-defined torso was displayed in full surround as he turned to show the three bandages on his back, two near his left shoulder blade and one near the small of his back.

Aldrich hissed in pain as the bandage was taken off, the exposed wound glistening in the light. It was clearly decently fresh, several days old at the least. The bullet had been through-and-through, although tiny amounts of silver could be seen still in the flesh. He grunted, trying hard to stay still. "Does it look bad?" he asked.

"The salve only has to be applied in the morning and evenings. I'm fine for now. Just need a new bandage." He grunted as the familiar burn hiked. "Bandages should be in my medicine cabinet. If you cleaned it, that'd be nice."
