Vyrtem was stunned. Boys will be... "I'm sorry, what?"
She laughed softly. "I just mean that you Sith are a pretty rough-and-tumble lot, and you're going to get caught up in the moment every now and then. It's a normal thing, I don't see why everyone's making such a big deal about it."
He was in love with this woman. He caught what she said, though, and groaned softly "Is it really everyone?"
She laughed sympathetically and nodded slowly. "Yeah... yeah, it's kinda everyone..."

Vyrtem leaned on the counter, sagged his shoulders and hung his head. "Yeah, that's what I was afraid of... Oh, well, what can you do?"
She nodded sympathetically and patted his hand reassuringly. "Not a whole lot. But you don't seem like that person from the stories. People are probably blowing it way out of proportion. You didn't really challenge a Darth to mortal combat, did you?"
Vyrtem laughed out loud "That's what they're saying!? Ha! No, he wasn't a Darth. He was an apprentice, though..."
Her breathed a sigh of relief "Well at least you're not like a full-blown crazy person. You're just a little unbalanced"

Vyrtem had to laugh. He had to agree with her. In hindsight, what he'd done was pretty stupid... "Maybe a little unbalanced, but nobody's ever accused me of being very smart, either." He scratched the back of his head.
She was still smiling. "Well, you don't seem like you're too stupid to me. But hey, looks can be deceiving, isn't that what you Sith say?"
Vyrtem shook his head softly "Well, I thank you, but I'm pretty sure I'm pretty stupid."
She smiled again "Well, I guess time will tell. Well, why don't we do something about getting those bounty hunters off your back?"

He chuckled. "Yeah, let's do something about that. I'd rather keep my head if it's not being removed by a Darth. Anything less is just insulting."
She laughed and began touching her tablet again. "Okay. All done. I guess they'll be leaving you alone now."
He nodded. "Well that's a load off of my mind. Maybe you can help me out, though. See, I have this longstanding desire to be hunted down by heavily armed gunmen, so I need something else to practice with."
She pointed at his shirt. "Well, it's probably a good thing you're practicing now, it doesn't look like your last session with this little guy went very well."

Vyrtem didn't know what she was talking about until he looked down at his shirt. In his haste to get down here he had actually picked up the shirt that he'd worn while practicing. The one with the holes burned all over it. "Oh. Yeah. I had some troubles, I guess." He laughed and scratched the back of his head self-consciously
She laughed. "I kinda like it. It makes you look tough."
Vyrtem flexed his muscles against his shirt and watched as the fabric stretched. "You think so? Well, maybe I'll keep it then."

At this point in her training she was tired. Tired of the experiments. Tired of the pain. Tired of her so-called classmates poking fun, sneering, leering, and attempting to embarrass her. She picked one out and challenged him. She's finally had enough. It's time to teach them all a lesson in who not to mess with. This one, whoever he is, just happened to say the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now is the time for her vengeance, retribution against everyone and everything brought to bear in this one individual. She charges full speed.

His attack misses her as she leaps over him and slashes downward at him. She wants him to hurt like she has to hurt, so she aims for the shoulder of his sword arm. She misses, but just barely. She lands on her feet a few feet behind him. She starts laughing just as he turns around, feeling an exhilaration such as she has never felt before. She doesn't know if it's from the fight itself, or if it's from something else like the Force. The look of surprise on his face is beyond priceless. So much for these idiots thinking she'd be easy prey. So much for him ending this quickly. She attacks again, aiming low, trying to get him to follow then swinging high, aiming for his neck.

She laughed and picked up the droid and the saber and looked back at Vyrtem. "So what else is it that you need? I'll grab it while I'm in the back."
"I'm looking for a stun baton, if you happen to have any."
As she walks to the back, she calls over her shoulder. "I think we have some, let me check."
"Thank you. I appreciate it." He smiled and drummed his fingers on the desk, waiting for her to come back. All of a sudden, Vyrtem sensed a disturbance in the force.
Mina rounded the corner into the room. Her eyes got big before she realized who she was looking at. "Well, look at what we have here. If it isn't the most brilliant young mind in the Academy. Look who it is, girls, it's ickle baby Vyrtem. Do you think he'll throw us a tantrum today?"

Realizing she is about to seriously hurt this kid, she adjusts her swing just enough to let the lead blade of her double-bladed vibrosword hit him just below the shoulder joint on his sword arm. With a loud "CRACK!!!" that echoed throughout the entirety of the domed room, he fell without a sound. Looking down at him, she thinks he may have passed out from all the pain, his system going into shock. Kneeling down next to him, she slaps him awake. Once his eyes focus on her she leans down and whispers something to him. The guy's eyes go wide and he loses what little color he has in his face. Then she slapped him on the the arm right at the break and stood back up. She looked around, and glared, at everyone gathered there and walked away without looking back.

Vyrtem's heart sank. Not here. Not now. He had been having a good day. He closed his eyes and tried to will her to go away.
Mina laughed as several girlfriends rounded the corner behind her. These things always traveled in packs. "Aw.. What's the matter? Are you having a little trouble talking? It's okay. We understand that you had your brains knocked loose fighting Temyr."
Vyrtem's anger began to grow, but his embarrassment grew more quickly. He wanted to disappear. In fact, he made to before Mina and her gaggle got in his way."Get out of my way, Mina."
She looked shocked. "Excuse me? What did you just call me? You think you can use my name? You aren't even worthy of being near me. Why don't you take a few steps back?"
Vyrtem's jaw clenched, but he mastered his anger. He took a few steps back if only to put her out of fist's reach. "Mina. Please get out of my way."
She and her posse laughed as he retreated. "Or what? Big bad Vyrtem is going to hurt me? You haven't even had the stones to come out of your room in two weeks, how scary do you think you are? You should be ashamed to call yourself a Sith."

Vyrtem flushed red, from either rage or embarrassment it was difficult even for him to tell. His cheeks were hot and his vision was blurred, but he didn't know if he was about to kill something or cry.
"Excuse me. What exactly are you doing here?" There was a note of danger in her voice that sounded odd coming from such an unassuming-looking girl.
Vyrtem clenched his eyes shut and grit his teeth. Please don't come out to see this. Please just stay in the bac-
Too late. She was already out from behind the counter, and walking toward the group of girls. "Can I help you?"
"Well, we were going to pick up some equipment, but it looks like you're closing up. I mean, you're already taking the trash out."

Oh s**t. I can't do nothing, can I? Not in front of Valya. What am I supposed to do? I can't hit a girl, can I?
Valya paused for a moment. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"
Oh s**t. Wait. What? Who was this and what had she done with Valya?
Mina smiled and cocked her eyebrows. "Well, I was just saying that we saw the homeless person in your lobby and assumed he was on the way out."
Valya managed to restrain her temper and her face went neutral. "Actually, now that you mention it, the trash was on the way out. If you ladies would be kind enough to leave, it would really save me the trouble of calling in the janitors to sweep you out the door."
Vyrtem's jaw dropped. What?
Mina's face flushed and she began trembling. "You will pay for what you just said, you little b***h." Mina turned around and waved at her flock. "Come on. Let's leave this dog and his keeper alone. Maybe she can clean up his s**t performance."

Vyrtem was agape. What had just happened? Had Valya... Just... Told a Sith Initiate off? Had... Had it worked? He was at a loss for words.
Valya was still fuming. "Can you believe that woman? Who does she think she is, coming into my workplace and trying to cause trouble with my customers? What gives her the right to walk around being all hoity-toity 'Oh look at me, I'm a baby Sith, woohoo, I'm sooo great' ? She's such a-"
Vyrtem sensed that if he didn't intervene, there would be an avalanche of momentum that would consume the entire Academy. He held up his hands to touch Valya's shoulders very lightly. He turned his head down to look up into her eyes. "Valya? Valya? Come on. Calm down."
"Why should I calm down!? She doesn't get to come in here showing off and acting like she's queen Sith, to my friends, and get to walk away like nothing happened and get away with it. I ought to chase her down and show her what a real wom-"
He was laughing despite himself. She just looked so absolutely adorable right now. "Valya. It's okay. It's alright."

Valya grit her teeth and raised the shock baton she held in her hand, pushing the button and priming it, beginning to push past Vyrtem.
He held her shoulders "Woah, there, Valya, calm down! Woah, woah woah, it's okay. Just take a breath. Take- take a breath. Calm down. It's okay. Just let her go."
She pursed her lips and her eyes flashed with fire. But she took a breath. A long, slow breath. "Okay. Okay. I'm calm."
He let her go and made placating gestures with his hands. "Are you sure? Are you good?"
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm good."
He took a deep breath. "Okay. Just breathe." He stepped back a little, watching her face.
