< Not attached, > Tenebrae murmured mirthfully.
While for Jack the sensation was new and terrifying, for Chel it was no different than if Jack had been in nothing at all. Makeup changed nothing about him except that she now had a smudge of too-dark foundation on her cheek and her lips were stained a slightly darker color than they should have been (samn his beautiful asian skin, damn it to hell). Chel had kissed men and women alike with makeup; it didn't matter to her. It was the person underneath, always.
She would have kept going and forgotten the human completely had Jack not pushed her back. The sensation was unpleasant, like being ripped away from her safety blanket. That was when a wash of fear came over her. Had she gone too far? Had she messed up? Was he going go leave- they always left-
< Pushy whore. >
Chel didn't see hatred in Jack's eyes; she saw a look that she wore all too often. She tried not to put too much compassion in her voice, knowing her would interpret it as pity. "Hey- where you at man?" She ventured a hand to his shoulderblade, stroking the crook between his neck and his back lightly. "Jack you look amazing," and she meant it, every word, "Your cheekbones are off the chart and your eyelashes go out to space." There was a very small pause. "What's got you?"
There was indeed a bottle of makeup remover on the table and it crossed Chel's mind to offer it; always conscious of others' limits. But her eyes remained fixed on Jack. For once she could pick up Jack's feelings, and she knew there was at least something more to this than emasculation. You can do this.

He might have ran if she hadn't been all but pinning him down. Too much. Stop. Think. Break it down. Take a breath. He took several.
"Nothing," Jack replied, his mind clearing of its initial revolt but his eyes still pointed anywhere but her face. "Nothing." Overreacting son of a b***h. "Just being a ******** p***y." His hand left her and pushed his glass up. "May I see the mirror again? Just for a moment."

Chel waited patiently, albeit with a concerned look on her face. She hadn't known this would affect him this much- she didn't know anything could affect the almighty Jack so hard. She let him breath, stroked his skin in time with the expansion of his lungs, waited.
She had an entire slew of angry words when he called himself a p***y just for wearing makeup, but she subsided and did as she was told, finding the mirror she'd cast aside and handing it to him. Maybe she had been too hasty in her kiss, but Chel couldn't say she regretted the hands that grasped her so fully, the overwhelming amount of feeling that they so usually lacked.

He had a good enough imagination. He could take what he saw in the mirror and reformat it to what it most likely had been before the impromptu miss sneered some of it off. It wasn't quite like looking at a different face—objectively he knew and could tell it was still his—but at the same time it was a venture into the uncanny valley. Jack agreed; Chel was too good at this.
Nevertheless, the longer he looked, the more impressive details he could pick out: the way she had highlighted the rise of his cheekbones, the high arch of his darkened brows, the way his eye lashes framed uniformly and how even more striking his eyes seemed with the additional color and lining. It was everything that was already there multiplied, and eventually even Jack couldn't stare for too long without feeling self-conscious. But he did so just long enough to consider what it all might make him, the way he used to for theater. Some make up was of course natural, but it was for a character, not for him. He couldn't any more reconcile that than he could go from basics to full blown do over like this without an issue.
Gingerly he put the mirror away. He was calmer now, more in control of himself now that he knew what he looked like, even if inwardly there knots so complex not even a sword could have cut through them. Compartmentalize. It was him, and it also wasn't him; that was the only way he could maintain his composure after that little episode. Deep breath.
He considered the effect he had on her in turn, gazing at Chel in half-lidded contemplation until he slipped glasses off and set them aside. Then his hand made a fist in Chel's top and gave a coaxing, small tug as he smile faintly.
"Where were we?"

The red on her face was subsiding, but with skin as white as hers it was going to stick around a while. What was left was an awkward sort of blotchiness to her face that would have been unattractive in most situations.
But there was Jack, attempting a smile for her and tugging on her shirt. "Wish I could take a picture," she murmured, fully aware that that wasn't going to be possible in any light. Despite Jack having indulged her in many selfies (sometimes unwillingly), she knew this would be one she'd never get no matter how much she promised his privacy. She sank into another kiss, but this one wasn't as frantic as the first. It was brimming with affection and encouragement, maybe more than she meant to put into it.
The lack of selfies was quickly forgotten, just like the human in the bar existed. Chel now had extra duties for no reason, but Chel regretted very little few things in life.

incognitoChris's ears may have turned a little pink, but he just tugged on his beanie and hid it with a laugh. "Keep doin' that and yer eyes'll fall out. Then you won't be cute at all."
They reached the portal and Chris expertly haggled with the techs for Chel's exact location. That is, he begged until they gave in just to shut him up. It was amazing what the cousins could do through sheer annoying willpower.

IncognitoWithout something immediately snappy to say, Abbi only frowned up at Chris as she followed him out, not sure what to make of all of that. He had called her cute, right? So did that mean she had to keep pestering him about that point? ...Well, of course. But Abbi was good and helped haggle with the techs, flashing them her own sparkly gaze and doing a very awkward job of attempting to flirt. Chris won with begging and the teen happily hopped through portal, saluting at the techs as she disappeared. Once in the parking lot she pushed at the man, using him mostly as a shield because she wanted to hide and he looked strange enough their targets would hopefully overlook him. "OK SO. The deal is... We gotta find them and make sure they're having fun. Yanno, no sad things on Chel's birthday outing." xdarkheartedsorrow OH LOOK I DID THE THING HA HA ;;;;
