They’d only managed to get a little way away from the gate before Fabian had tugged off his jacket to use as a sort of shielding from both the heat and the buffeting sands. He’d had to remove Orchid, much to her chagrin, but made sure to keep her close to her chest and protected as well so that she wouldn’t panic any further. She was a little calmer since they weren’t in a city but she clearly was not a fan of the heat. Eesh, he could not blame her.

Susie in the meantime was hitching a ride from Melody, who had scooped the little Torchic up when it became clear the sands were irritating her. With Fabian occupied with protecting himself and Orchid, it was the least she could do for the only one taking this supposed hunt seriously. Really, Melody was going to smack Fabian for this; the idea was that he would help his pokemon, not leave them to do all the hard work.

She supposed she was to blame a little bit as well; she was pretty much looking in his place and not forcing him to pick up his slack. But she’d been looking over the flyer and realized that the hunt would be ending today. Which meant they only had a little bit of time to find eggs, or at least a decent amount. And of course, the moment she told Fabian that, he’d whine and immediately drop the process they’d made so far. Which was not something she was wanting to happen; both for the sake of having started and because she had made a promise to meet Lysander at some point along the way. With the way things were looking, she might want to reach out to him and see when they should make plans for it. This egg hunt probably wan’t going to pan out so… best to check right? Noel mulled over his thoughts and plans for once he got to the different region. He had a few and wanted to do a bit of exploring in Johto itself. His pokemon also probably wanted a rest. They’d been up, down, left, right and center in both training, egg hunting and battling and rest from the regular actions would be appreciated in the long term so that he (and they) didn’t burn out.
He adjusted his headphones as they maneuvered through the desert, squinting against the brightness of the sun. Even this late in the day, it was bright but at least the sands weren’t whipping about and blinding him as well. Once Apollo had managed to get the taste of sand out of his mouth, he took a firm step forward in preparation to battle the fierce winds of the desert; dramatization. Once he covered his mouth and nose, the only real issue he had to worry about was getting his new clothes dirty. He should've definitely waited to change into them until after he'd finished crossing a dessert, that wasn't even a realization that came from hindsight, it was simple common sense.
