Sissil swatted his paws together, freeing them of some of the silk that had gotten caught on his claws. Well that certainly hadn’t been that tough a battle. He could tell Calcifer’s watchful gaze was still on him, though what he was thinking he couldn’t tell.
As opposed to asking though, the Magikit set his focus on the shuffling grass nearby. Apparently, he would be getting no answers from Calcifer at this rate. While they were temporarily paused it would be nice to catch what little breath he might’ve had. Or maybe ignore the Mismagius the same way it seemed to be ignoring him. Whatever he was supposed to be teaching him could wait; maybe that Faraday guy would clarify in the event the other ghost didn’t do his supposed job...

Down and done. Sissil brushed the fluff of his short furry coat as the Wurmple recovered and rapidly scurried out of view. Well that wasn’t that hard. With a little huff, he set his paws on his hips, turning to locate the other ghost. Calcifer was still floating there, watching with an unreadable expression. Sissil felt the fur on the back of his neck bristle.
"Something wrong?" The Mismagius questioned, noticing the leery look he was receiving. Sissil tilted his head down and away, arms now crossing over his chest in a huffed fashion. Apparently it was now his turn to be the difficult one.
"I thought you were supposed to be teaching me something?" The Magikit inquired once more, still staring in the direction of the other ghost. For once, Calcifer expression shifted and if it had been possible, it would’ve implied he was raising an eyebrow inquisitively. There was a moment of prolonged silence before he finally spoke again. "I am." Was the simple remark. Sissil blinked, head tilting back and up to stare at the ghost. Say what?

"This doesn’t seem like teaching." The ghost kitten retorted with a bit of a growl in his voice, agitation resuming. This was the farthest thing from teaching he’d ever encountered! The Grimarcane of his coven weren’t this annoying. Bossy sometimes, at least too much for his liking, but certainly not this problematic. To some degree, this Mismagius was reminding him of the things he didn’t particularly enjoy. Calcifer tilted his head a bit again though, still watching the other psychic ghost a moment before finally speaking again.
"You can’t teach someone something without knowing their abilities first, you know." He replied, hovering down and closer to the Magikit now, giving him an inspecting gaze. Sissil blinked, one eye squinting in confusion as he stared back. "Wha…?" The ghost floated quietly a moment, head giving a little nod gesture before he turned and started -this time more slowly- floating back through the forest.

"Faraday wants me to show you how to investigate. But before I can do that, I need to know what kind of skill level you have in the first place." The Mismagius started up, not bothering to glance back to affirm that the Magikit was following after. He had an inkling the mischief maker was in fact following, despite all his agitation. "You might’ve been able to slip under the radar for him, but I knew you were around the entire time." He flipped upside down at this, giving the other pokemon a bit of a leery look. "For what I do, you can’t have that." Sissil blinked and stared a moment, the confused look still etched on his face.
"Oh." That … didn’t really make much sense to him. What did this have to do with learning about how Faraday did his tricks anyways? He folded his arms across his chest as he followed after. The other ghost righted himself and kept going. "Yes ‘oh’. If you will be investigating, then you need to be better at hiding your presence. The fact that you opted to fight everything instead of avoiding it tells me enough." The tone of the Mismagius’ voice sounded like disapproval.

While Sissil slowly began to unravel exactly what Calcifer’s intentions where when it came to the whole training deal, Faraday and his own little training possee where well on their way to becoming a fitting team. The man had taken a seat next to a tree after a bit within watching distance, though Dresden was primarily left to keep a watch on the mud fish. She’d eventually adapted to the look-before-you-leap idea of battle, only charging in when she was certain of what she was facing down. The Buneary could rest easy for a bit as the wild pokemon became monotonous, the same types making repeat appearances. Not that he had a problem with this. In the meantime, Murphy faced off against yet another Slakoth. These things weren’t the liveliest of creatures were they?

No really, they didn’t have much kick to them did they? Dresden gave a shake of his head, one paw grabbing an ear and swiping it through the white fur. He glanced back at Faraday who was still mildly paying attention to his Pokémon battling. His gaze immediately shifted as he heard Murphy give a squeak of surprise.
The sound of ruffling feathers and the squawk of a bird appeared from the nearby brush, darting out at the mud fish in a mad rage. This was the first time they’d seen a pokemon that wasn’t a Slakoth or a Wurmple or its cocoon evolutions and so Murphy was caught off guard. She stared blankly at the strange bird a moment as it flew above her head, little body pressing down against the ground as she tried to figure out what to do. Eventually though, when it was clear that this thing wasn’t much stronger than some of her other opponents, she took the brave leap forward to take it down.

Faraday watched with a slightly concerned expression as the Taillow challenged Murphy. Luckily the mud fish handled it without much issue, allowing her trainer to relax. He’d had to stand to get a better view of the battle but once he was certain that everything would be okay, he gave a bit of a smile. Dresden had an eye on Murphy so their training was handled, and Calcifer was hopefully helping Sissil get some training in as well. Which meant that for now, he had a bit of free time to do as he pleased. He knelt down to his bag that he’d left at the base of the tree, fishing out his trench coat and returning it to his person.
Ah yes, that was much better. He just didn’t feel right not wearing the gift from his sister. It was practically a requirement, as cliché as it was. He didn’t quite care though, he was quite the fan of the film noire depictions of detectives. Sure, they weren’t entirely accurate in reference to him; he was no hard-boiled b*****d with a grizzled back story. For the most part. But damn if he wasn’t willing to look the role.

With trench coat back on for the time being, Faraday dug a little more in his bag to produce a journal and a pen. With no leads, there was no planning for investigations which left him with a bit of free time. And that meant there was only one thing for him to do; plan some magic tricks. It was important to keep on top of that secondary profession of his which would hopefully be more serious.
Plopping back down with back pressed to the tree, he yanked the cap off the pen with his teeth, flipping the pen nimbly between his fingers before pushing the cap on and flipping to a fresh page. He had a new pokemon now and if there was anything he enjoyed it was trying to incorporate a pokemon into an act. He was a fan of doing that kind of thing; in both his work and his magic tricks, though each had their differences. Actually, now that he considered it, it was probably worth looking into potential options to build his team. He could get away with anything really while parading as a trainer, though he still wanted to keep to the idea of functional. What would help him in the long run…?

To better figure out what he could do with Murphy, he’d need to look into her move sets as well. That was really something he needed to do anyways if she was going to be on his team as well. And also for the upcoming gym battle. Actually… maybe it was better to prioritize. Figure out what moves he could teach her to make the battle easier along with moves that would be useful in the long run to his team. He fished out his pokedex as well, doing a quick check of the tracker to make sure everyone was still within the vicinity of the forest.
The blips for Murphy and Dresden were of course right nearby, Smithy’s was right on him (which made sense, seeing as the Klefki was safely tucked away in her pokeball at his belt) and Sissil and Calcifer’s blips seemed to be rapidly bumbling about in the same area. He had to quirk an eyebrow at that; he wasn’t worried, but he did hope the Mismagius was teaching the Magikit how to be discrete. That’s what he expected of his ghost companions actually; someone to be a second set of eyes, lurking out of sight while he was in the forefront. Really, what better use was there for their particular state of existence?

Faraday shut down the tracker for now, returning the pokedex to its normal functions. He found his way to the entry on ‘Mudkip’ and started browsing through the skill sets available to Murphy. As he scrolled through the options, a grin started to creep its way across his face the pen on the paper swiftly scratching away the paper as he started to list some potential ideas. There was probably no making use of her for investigations, he considered. According to the pokedex, the little fin on her head could function like a radar of some sort, sensing the movements of water and air. Depending on what the situation was, he could maybe make use of that… he’d have to think a bit. Anything he couldn’t track himself he usually relied on Calcifer to do and well, with Sissil now on the team and learning the ropes that was two set of eyes to watch what he couldn’t.
He’d keep it in mind. But for he’d focus on the other potential aspects of his Mudkip’s moves, which was incorporating them into tricks. And boy… was there a lot of potential on that front.

Dresden folded his arms over his chest, head tilting back slightly as he observed his trainer scribbling hastily away in his journal with a surprising grin across his face. The Buneary couldn’t help the slight look of uneasy wonder that crossed his face as he watched; exactly what was he so happy about now? He knew Faraday fairly well, the man had hatched him from an egg and all, but sometimes he couldn’t understand where these random bits of jubilance came from. Sure, the man took great enjoyment in his tricks and such but was not really the time for that kind of thing?
"What’s wrong?" Murphy inquired as she toddled up beside the bunny, giving him a curious look. Dresden shifted and glanced back at her, an eyebrow seeming to quirk in thought as he glanced back at Faraday. "Nah, nothing. Just wonderin’ what he’s doin’ this time." Was his response. Murphy gave a little wiggle of her head, looking in the same direction as well. She was quiet a moment, head tilting as she studied the concentrating man in the distance.
"Does he always do that?" She chimed, looking back at Dresden. The bunny seemed slightly taken back by the question, glancing at her curiously. His head tilted in thought before his little shoulders gave a shrug. "Eh, ya. A lot actually. It’s probably ‘bout you." Murphy blinked, head tilting a bit at this potential revelation. About her? Hm…
"Oh… okay then!" She finally announced, hopping and turning the whole of her body to face Dresden. "Can we find more things to fight?" The Buneary shifted, gaze narrowing onto the mud fish thoughtfully before he unfolded his arms and set his paws on the fluff of his hips. "Yeh, sure. Let’s find some more stuff."

The area they were currently in seemed devoid of any wild life after the first bit of battling and so Dresden opted to lead Murphy a little further into the grass. It took a bit of searching surprisingly, but eventually he found himself nearly tripping on what he’d thought was a rock. It was a bit… soft to be a rock though and before he could properly evaluate it, he found himself facing off with some strange mushroom creature.
Murphy perked up in surprise as she saw Dresden roll backwards and jump to his feet, eyeing the Shroomish with a slightly disdained look. She hadn’t seen this pokemon yet, but judging by the aggravated way it was staring at Dresden, she decided to take the opportunity and attack.

Dresden watched at Murphy surprise attacked the Shroomish, taking it down in a single attack. These pokemon were … very weak he was beginning to realize. There was probably a reason why Faraday had suggested training for only a couple of hours as opposed to a longer amount of time. If Murphy was already one-shotting things, then it was only a matter of time before they outgrew the place. No point wasting time like that.
Murphy gave him a curious chirp, blinking and looking up at the sight of something hanging from the tree above them. Dresden blinked, following her gaze and noting the Slakoth hanging lackadaisically above the pair. It’d been watching the battle, or well… not battle but whatever had occurred, with lazy eyes, looking slightly annoyed at the disturbance. Dresden didn’t approve of the look and with a solid slam, rammed his fist into the tree. It shook and the Slakoth fell to the ground with a ‘thump’. The sloth pokemon slowly rolled over with a growl but didn’t get to far as Murphy gave it a quick tackle to the face. This one definitely had a harder head.

Yes, these things were definitely getting weaker. Actually, had much time had passed? They’d been in this forest for a bit now and Faraday had mentioned only training for an hour or so. Maybe it was time they headed back to check in with him? That was probably a good plan. They wandered through the grass a bit more, the wild life becoming sparce once again.
A little time passed and eventually Dresden decided it was time they headed back. He gave a gesture for Murphy to follow him so they could start back, his ears twitching a bit as the grass next to them shuffled and yet another of those worm things appeared. His head tilted a bit as it wiggled it’s feelers in their direction, glancing at Murphy and giving her the go ahead to take it down before he himself started to shuffle back in the direction of Faraday. He didn’t even need to see what was going down, hearing the Wurmple go down and Murphy trot up to beside him. Short and sweet.

While Dresden and Murphy wrapped up their own training, Sissil and Calcifer were wrapping up as well. The conversation had eventually died down to silence between the two, though the silence was probably a less preferable option. Sissil seemed to pick up on the dislike going on, an instead opted to do some battling instead. Calcifer kept an eye out, or at least he assumed he was keeping an eye on him. Sisil ignored it though; at this point he didn’t rightly care anymore and instead focused on dispatching the annoying Silcoon that had rolled its way into his view.
