A grin lit up the professor's face as the young man introduced himself. "Well fantastic! It's always a pleasure to meet young and inspiring trainers and researchers! Blackthorn city is a long ways away though. I'm glad you made it here in one piece!" As the professor watched the boy greet the pokemon, he could only think on all the trainers he had met in the past. Some knew exactly what they wanted, some were confused about it all. Some, like Ryou, knew that they wanted a starter... Just not which one. He was glad that someone who would take good care of the Torchic would get her.
"Fantastic choice! While you two get acquainted, I need to grab a couple of other things for you." He excused himself to grab a couple of items that he usually had prepared for new trainers. There had been a few recently and he hadn't quite refilled his usually spot of them. After a few moments, he returned with a few pokeballs, a couple starting potions, and a Pokedex. "To start you off, here's your official Pokemon League Pokedex. It will record all the pokemon you meet and catch along the way. Here are some pokeballs and some potions too. Don't want your new Torchic to get lonely, or hurt, on your travels."
Ryou smiled up at the professor when he said it was a good choice. His attention returned to the pokemon in front of him who had decided bunting her head against his arm over and over was a good way to call for his attention. "Alright I'll scratch you again" the boy said with a soft laugh. He barely registered when the professor said he had to go get something-so caught up was he in this new pokemon but he did notice when he came back and gave him some items for the journey. His eyes widened when he said Ryou would receive his own pokedex. ( his own pokedex! He was going to be able to record every pokemon he saw and caught! And so many of them wouldn't be dragons!) as well as pokeballs and potions. "Oh wow that's...that's incredibly generous of you sir wow thank you." he said with a bow. Shouldering his new load Ryou returned his newest pokemon and started walking towards the exit after thanking the proffesor again and saying good bye to him. "I can't wait for you to meet your team mate" he said to the pokeball as he walked out into the town.

While a sudden vacation to the tropical island region of Hoenn would of been really fun, Uhroa wasn't a happy camper. Having been dropped off in an unfamiliar town in an even more unfamiliar region. He had been on the train with his brother, but Reohyeon had stayed on the train, urging Uhroa to travel alone for the time being. After standing on the train platform for long while, Uhroa finally lifted up his phone and answered the call. "Finaly. Look, Yeye... I know you're upset with my, but trust your Hyungnim, alright? I swear I'll meet up with you again at some other time, just I think it'd be real good for you to travel alone. Hoenn is a sweet vacay spot, you'll love it. Plus, you got Pivot with you right?" Pivot in question was calmly resting on Uhroa's shoulder, the Snivy appeared tired. "Look, Yeye. 2 weeks, okay? Just travel by yourself for 2 weeks then shoot me a text tellin' me where you are. If I'm in the area I'll be at your side at quick as I can." After another long pause, Uhroa's hand tightened on his phone. "Okay. You better keep your promise, Hyungnim." Uhroa replied. "I know things might be a little scary right now-" "I'm not scared!" Uhroa quickly cut off his brother, biting his lower lip with a look that suggested he was about to cry. Uhroa wasn't one to shed tears, but one can't really predict how someone, no matter how collected or mature they seen to keep a straight face in a situation like the one Uhroa was in. "Right, right... Yeye, you got this! I know how strong you are, you're not called a mini me for no reason got it! Good luck, Yeye. Stay safe. The next time we talk I want to hear only good things." Uhroa kicked at the ground and nodded his head. He could just imagine his brother, his idol all badass. He wouldn't be on the verge of tears right now right? "Okay, I got it. You too, Hyungnim... Have fun." A light hearted chuckle crossed the line before Reohyeon offered his good byes and 'I love you's' before Uhroa did the same.
Taking a slow pace out of the train station, Uhroa checked a nearby map that clearly marked the exit to the next route as well as the building for Professor Birch's lab. While he wasn't going for a Pokemon he did need to get the various items the lab provided. The two brothers had planned to travel together so Reohyeon had called ahead and did all the necessary work to get Uhroa registered... least that was what Uhroa was lead to believe. This wasn't the first time Reohyeon had lied to him, but usually it was for a good reason. Uhroa just had to believe that there was yet again another reason as to why his Hyungnim had lied to him.No doubt it had to do with this sudden impromptu vacation. Either way, despite his lingering somber mood, Uhroa made his way to the professor's lab.
Once entering, a lab assistant quickly noticed him and offered their help. he instructed that he was here for his Pokedex and other assortment of items offered to new trainers. The assistant quickly vanished returning with the necessary items. A very, very small part of Uhroa had actually wanted to meet the Professor, but he wasn't about to hang around like some idol fan with nothing but a sick devotion and time on their hands. "Lets get out of here, Pivot." Uhroa voiced before quickly taking his leave.
Brian walked down the road to Professor Birch's lab, a bit of a spring in his step. He'd waited for what seemed like forever to finally get his starter Pokemon, and now that day was finally here. He couldn't help but be happy that his journey was finally about to start. He couldn't blame his mother for wanting him to be fully prepared, but she was adamant that she teach him everything she knew about cooking and caring for himself as well as his Pokemon, so the lessons had taken a lot longer than he'd anticipated. That being said, he was more than ready to start his journey, and his first step was stopping in to see the Professor. As he walked through the doors of the lab, he noticed it seemed quieter than usual, with very few Pokemon sounds coming through to the front. "Professor, are ye in here?" he asked. If the man himself wasn't there, he was sure that one of his assistants could point him in the right direction.

Zigzagoooooooon "Yes... That makes sense!" As if he could understand the pokemon infront of him, Professor Birch jotted down what he thinks he understood. Next to him, a Treecko was munching on the professor's forgotten sandwich. Yes... Yes he was making another breakthrough! This Galarian zigzagoon was so interesting! Especially compared to his normal ones! The professor continued to jot down notes until he heard a voice in his lab. Was that? He quickly grabbed towards his sandwich, being handed what was left. He didn't even notice the missing half as he took a big bite and hopped into movement.
Crossing around the corner of a bookcase and Brian was looking around. "Well well! Brian how are ya? How're Adam and Allison? Any new mysterious eggs?" He asked as he happily walked over.

Oh, no, that's perfectly fine with me! I figured Brian and his family would know the Professor, lol
It seemed Brian was right, as Professor Birch appeared not long after he arrived. From the look of the man's sandwich, it seemed like he'd caught him in the middle of his lunch. "Ah, sorry if I caught ye at a bad time, Professor," he said. "I'm doing well. We haven't gotten any recently, though I think we're supposed to receive a couple in the next week or so." One of the perks of living at a daycare/breeding center was that he had access to various Pokemon eggs, once the Professor had gotten a chance to study them, of course. "Was that a Zigzagoon I heard a minute ago?" he asked, remembering the Pokemon cry he'd heard right before Prof. Birch had appeared.

Birch waved a hand as if waving him off. "Not to worry, just doing my research. But i've always got time for all. It was literally in his job description. His eyes lit up as Brian mentioned getting some new pokemon at the center. That was exciting news. He would be very interested to see which ones. He was trying to think which ones when the Zigzagoon was brought up. "Oh! Yes, my kid sent a Galarian Zigzagoon a few days ago for me. I've been studying him and his habits. I feel so close to a breakthrough, I can almost taste it!" And in literal fashion, took a bite of his remaining sandwich.
"Well, what can I do you for? I don't see an egg, unless it's hidden?"[
tab Standing outside the front door of the lab, a timid hand reached towards the handle but stopped in hesitation just before making contact. Clearly feeling nervous, the boy pulled his hand back to his chest. "M-maybe I should come back tomorrow." he whispered softly beneath his breath. Why was he so nervous anyways? Granted, being on the front steps of one of the foremost pokémon experts would be intimidating for anyone, as far as Silas was concerned, but still, he was the one who chose to come all this way. To turn back now after coming so far would be such a waste. "Come on, Silas. Pull yourself together." he quietly scolded himself, giving his head a firm shake.
tab Once more, Silas reached forth for the handle of the door, this time taking a hold of it. "Alright. Let's go." he said. And with one last calming breath, he opened the door just enough for him to slide through. "H-hello? Is anyone there?" he called out, giving the area a quick scan. He then noticed the man he was there to see, Professor Birch, was busy talking to another boy. "Oh. I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. I can come back later if now if you're busy, professor." he said, feeling a bit embarrassed for having potentially interrupted them.
Brian smiled as the Professor said he was just doing his research. He knew the Professor was dedicated to his research; the way his eyes lit up when Brian mentioned getting new eggs at the center was confirmation of that. He gave a slightly confused look when Birch mentioned that the Zigzagoon he'd heard was a Galarian Zigzagoon. "Is that a regional variant, like some of the Alolan Pokmeon?" he asked. It would make sense, seeing as it was called a Galarian Zigzagoon. He'd heard of Galarian Pokemon, of course, but he'd never seen any first-hand.
When Birch asked what he could do for him, Brian gave a smile as he remembered why he was here in the first place. "I'm actually here to get my starter," he said. "I would have started sooner, but Mom wanted to make sure I was really ready, so she insisted I learn basic medical knowledge and how to cook before actually starting my journey." Before he could say anything else, he heard another voice from nearby, and turned to see another boy standing there. "It's alright, we were just talking about Pokemon," he said, giving the newcomer a friendly smile.

"Why yes! It is a regional variant, specifically from Galar. He's a bit shy or you could see him, but instead of our usual brown and tan, he's white and black!" The excitement was oozing from the professor. Obviously he'd show the zigzagoon, but that was out of the cards. As Brian answered him, Birch happily put his two hands together. "Fantastic! We have some wonderful pokemon available for you to pi~" Another voice caused him to stop midsentence.
Another child opened the door and awkwardly stood to the side. "Well don't be shy! We are about to look into some starters. I'm only assuming you are also here for a starter pokemon? Amazing pokemon they are, you know. Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip are their own little balls of wonder." He said, enthusiastically waving the child over. Of course, there had been quite a few children recently... But that was normal... Sorta? "Now then. Torchic is the Fire type. Treecko is the Grass type. And little Mudkip is the Water type."
tab Receiving permission from the professor and the other boy, Silas gave a quick nod. "Th-thank you." he said meekly. As he made his way over to where the two others stood. He listened as the professor described the starter pokemon that he had available. Seeing the pokeballs laid out before him and the other boy, his eyes lit up with excitement. "Woooow." he whispered quietly to himself. However, his he quickly realized that he was getting caught up in his enthusiasm and that he was allowing himself to get distracted from why he had come. "Oh! Wait. I actually brought my own pokemon. H-hang on." he chirped. He then began digging around in his overstuffed messenger bag.
tab After fishing around in his bag for a moment, Silas was finally able to retrieve the pokeball he had stashed away. Holding it out in front of him, the device would open, releasing a flash of light to reveal his Sandshrew, Rew. "I'd hate to take a pokemon away from another kid who doesn't have one." he explained, giving Rew a soft pat on the head as the small yellow creature nuzzled up to his leg. "I-I hope that's okay." he said.
Brian gave a nod when Professor Birch confirmed that the Zigzagoon was, indeed, a regional variant. He would have to travel to Galar at some point, just to see what other regional variants the region might have. At the newcomer's words about taking a Pokemon from someone who didn't have one, he gave a smile. "Don't worry, I haven't actually decided which starter I'd like yet," he said. "I don't mind waiting until ye've chosen yer starter. Besides, I've been around Pokemon all my life, since my parents run the local daycare/breeding center."

Professor Birch marveled as the Sandshrew was brought out, leaning down on his knees to look at the little guy. "Well, if you are certain you don't want a pokemon from me, then that is just fine. But I still need to get you your very own license and make you all official! Wait just a second there my boy." The professor walked away after giving Rew a quick pat on the head. A quick ransack of his usual drawers later and he was waltzing back. Having grabbed what he needed for both new trainers.
"Ta-da! One pokedex for each of you, and some potions just in case! Oh and don't forget the pokeballs. Want you to be able to fill those dexes out now." He chuckled as he handed the small bundle to Silas and offered one to Brian. "Besides, these little cuties and be quite competitive for attention." He joked.
"Any ideas Brian? I'm surprised your parents didn't already have one or two to send you with."
tab Hearing the other boy's words, Silas shook his head. "No-no. Really. I-I'm fine. Don't let me stop you." he stammered. It seemed the boy's sentiments were shared by Prof. Birch, who also questioned his decision. Shyly, Silas gave a nod, allowing his head to remained lowered. "Yeah. I'm sure." he said quietly, his eyes shifting to Rew before continuing "I-I'd like to keep it just the two of us ..... at least for a little while longer." He then gave Rew a soft pat on the head, the small creature responding by nuzzling up into his palm.
tab When the professor returned with a Pokedex and several empty pokeballs, Silas took the items offered to him. "Thank you, sir." he said. After tucking them away in his bag, he also returned Rew to its pokeball before stashing that away as well. With his licence now official, he was all ready to go. "Thank you, Professor Birch. I-I'll be going now." he said. He started to take his leave of the lab but just before he reached the exit, he turned back around. "Oh. And .... good luck." he said shyly to the other boy. He then exited the lab, taking the first official steps of his journey.
