Thank you for understanding >w<;; and yeah, you get more than 12 notices and gaia eats the rest lol, but even though I'm the captain, I have such a wonderful crew (and friends), because we end up working together/splitting up work evenly on a lot of things, so there's not nearly as much work on my plate as there would be if I were running the guild on my own. @ w@

Leader Misty

Misty chuckled as Alex explained his situation with his eevee. "So you aren't going to evolve her into a vaporeon?" She asked curiously. It seemed like the logical reason for a water type trainer to be working with an eevee, but the way Alex talked about it made it seem like he wasn't planning on evolving her after all. She wouldn't judge if he didn't stick just with water types, but stated that she wasn't budging from her favorite type, which Alex seemed to appreciate and respect, since he seemed to think it would inspire other trainers like himself. Misty grinned at that. "Hm. It's what I do~" She stated proudly, thumbing her nose a bit as she did so. She had her staryu harden to help lessen the damage from the marshtomp's tackle, but it seemed Alex had his own tactics in mind. A mud slap from his marshtomp coated her staryu in mud, making it harder to see. "Hmph. Not bad, but you're gonna have to do more than that to keep us down. Staryu, hit it with another water pulse!" Misty commanded. The layer of mud was still thin enough for her staryu to wipe off and see the marshtomp clearly, but if the ground type continued to pack it on, it would prove to be problematic, and Misty didn't plan on letting that happen.

Not a problem, I'm still posting more than usual cause of it, so a little time between isn't a big issue. I also like how the mods seem to split things up. This guild does take a lot of work, too much for any one person on their own. Anyways, got lucky with that attack, it's a little difficult typing out the damage when Staryu gets the defense boost. I dunno how else to type it out, so I did what I did. I'd love to make it look a little nicer though. lol

Alex kind of had a feeling that the water type gym leader would probably ask about evolving Eevee since the normal type was brought up. "That was the idea, but Eevee doesn't want to evolve. I still would like a Vaporeon, but I'll just have to wait." He said with a chuckle as he wasn't about to force a pokemon to evolve, no matter the case. Either way, it was good to see that Misty was also happy to inspire young trainers to use water pokemon. It wasn't that surprising though, gym leaders really did care about their pokemon and seemed to stick to a type. Alex was glad to have lowered Staryu's accuracy, but it didn't stop another Water Pulse from hitting Marshtomp. His pokemon also stumbled a bit and seemed to have been confused. "Shoot... Marshtomp." This was a risky choice to make, Marshtomp had already taken a quite a bit of damage. Now he was confused, it was possible to attack still, but it was a gamble. Despite that, he made his choice. "Try to hang in there, Marshtomp, lets try to do some damage, use Tackle." Even though Marshtomp was confused, he managed to get a hold of himself for a moment. The water and ground type moved quickly and ran forward, tackling the Staryu.

Leader Misty

Ah, well that explained it. "Doesn't want to evolve huh? Well at least you respect it's wishes. Good luck getting yourself a vaporeon." She nodded approvingly. Afterwards though, their battle got a bit more complicated and interesting as her staryu's accuracy was lowered and his marshtomp became disoriented from their water pulse. It was still able to attack however, but Misty supposed it didn't take much direction to see the at least some vague shape of your opponent and slam into it. Misty grimaced. She'd been hoping that tactic would work to buy her some time while they bolstered their defenses, but she wasn't going to just let her staryu get slammed into. "Why don't we put this poor confused mudfish out of his misery staryu?" She commanded cooly, and the staryu sent another wave of water at the marshtomp to knock it down and out. "He did well, but you're gonna have to do better than that if you want to beat me at my own game." Misty said confidently with a grin.

Alex was glad that Misty understood why he agreed to Eevee's wish not to evolve. "Thanks, I always wanted one, but I'd rather let them decide for themselves on something that important. Eevee here never changes her mind once she's made a choice." He said the last part with a laugh as this would explain why Eevee wasn't into a pokeball. Once again, Alex focused back on the battle knowing that doing any damage was rather lucky. He really hoped that Marshtomp would be able to come back to his senses and survive the next attack. Unfortunately, another pulse of water washed over him and his first pokemon fainted. He let out a sigh, but then returned Marshtomp to his pokeball. "You did good, that Staryu is strong after all." Alex put the pokeball back on his belt and reached for the next. "Alright then, this battle is far from over, let's go, Croconaw." Again, it was another first evolution starter pokemon and just as before, he was shiny too. The pokemon was light green instead of blue and the spikes were blue instead of red. He looked around at the situation and was happy that he could battle right away. This water type wasn't the type that wanted to sit still for very long and of course was a little reckless.

Leader Misty

Misty nodded in agreement with Alex's words. She would love a vaporeon too at some point, but she wouldn't force an eevee to evolve into one if it didn't want to. "Heh, well at least she's decisive!" She laughed. Sounded like her kind of pokemon, strong willed and independent. Focusing on the battle at hand though, she knocked out Alex's marshtomp with one last water pulse, grinning as Alex admitted that her staryu was strong. "You bet!" She nodded, watching as Alex sent out another strange colored pokemon, a croconaw this time, but with blue spikes rather than the usual red. He claimed that the battle was far from over, and Misty grinned. "Good, there's nothing worse than a boring, one sided battle." Misty chuckled. "Staryu, lets give them a taste of their own medicine, use tackle!" She commanded, and the starfish pokemon reared up and spun rapidly to slam into the croconaw full force.

SpectralEternity
I figured as much, so don't worry about it. I was always wondering how I should type it. Should have been x .1 actually. I did fix it in this post. Either way, just feels easier to remember this stuff if I type things out the long way. lol

Alex was glad to hear that the gym leader he felt most inspired by agreed that Eevee was very decisive. The small normal type really had helped him out through a lot and she actually was stronger than a Eevee usually seemed. "We've been through a lot together, she's helped me out more times that I can count. I don't think it would do us any good to change things." With that said, he was pretty sure both of them would focus on the battle. It was tough so far, but he did have a few tricks up his sleeve to make sure his second pokemon wouldn't faint. Croconaw took the first hit, a tackle, it knocked him back a bit, but the shiny water type didn't seem to worried about it. He appeared to be ready to strike back, Alex knew his pokemon was rash, so he tried to keep up and call out the next move. "This will be anything, but boring, use Ice Fang!" This wasn't the strongest attack, but it did have the potential to slow the Staryu down with status conditions. Croconaw was pleased to hear that it was his time to shine as he closed in on the other water type. His fangs began to glow light blue, before they released two light blue bolts of ice energy. The attack hit its mark, it didn't seem to make the water type flinch, but Alex knew right away that Staryu had been frozen solid.

Huh.... Yeah you're right. I didn't even notice because the end result was still correct, but yeah, it should be x.1 >w>;; Also ice attacks are 1/2 effective against water types, so ice fang would actually only do 24 damage.

Leader Misty

"No use fixing something that isn't broken." Misty replied when Alex commented how his eevee had really helped him out a lot and so it wouldn't do to change things. Happy to hear that Alex was still planning to keep things interesting, Misty sent her staryu off on the attack, slamming into the croconaw to do some damage, but Alex had his croconaw retaliate with an ice fang, which wasn't the most effective move against a water type, but it sure had it's share of nasty side effects, like freezing her staryu solid. "Hmph. Not bad, but your status afflictions won't work on us! Staryu, return!" She recalled the water type. "It's your turn starmie!" Misty called, sending out her staryu's evolved form to take it's place. "Ready?" She asked Alex with a grin. She would refrain from explaining her staryu's ability for now. That would be a fun surprise for Alex to find out later. It was certainly making the battle more interesting though. It wasn't often that she got to use all of her tricks in a battle.

lol You're right, there, I fixed it up I believe. I messed up, was looking at the type chart and was stuck on looking at Starmie and forgot that Staryu wasn't a psychic type as well. lol Oops.
Edited it. Should be good unless I messed something else up. lol

The battle was getting more exciting as the Staryu had been frozen solid. Alex watched as Misty returned Staryu and her words made it sound like this was a plan to get around the status condition. He wasn't quite sure what she had planned, but seeing the Starmie made him grin a bit. "Starmie? I thought that was the case. I wanted Croconaw to take on Starmie. Alright, Croconaw, use Bite." Alex knew well what was the weakness to psychic types, he did have a bunch of them. Even if Starmie was stronger than Staryu, the added psychic type made the pokemon weak to dark type moves. Croconaw was enjoying the battle and watched on as his opponent was changed out. Despite that, he was still happy to continue again any challenge. The shiny water type had the next move told to him as once again, he closed in and this time lunged toward Starmie and bit down with his sharp fangs. The attack was strong and seemed to cause the pokemon to flinch. Starmie was supposed to be the harder pokemon to defeat, but in this case, Croconaw had the right moves to overcome it. Alex knew they were lucky to cause Starmie to flinch, so he wanted to take advantage of the situation. Staryu was far from done, he didn't want to miss this chance. "Sorry about this, but Croconaw, use bite again." Croconaw looked back, but then seemed to like the sound of Alex's words as the water type pokemon bit down on the flinched Starmie, trying his best to defeat the opponent. Fortunately, the attack landed and since it was super effective, Croconaw managed to take out Starmie.

Leader Misty

Misty frowned as Alex commented how he had wanted his croconaw to go against her starmie. Well, this was unprecedented, but she had confidence in her pokemon. Though when Alex had the gator use bite, Misty grimaced. She hadn't expected that, and neither had her starmie, because it flinched, opening itself up for another attack. It was quite a shock for Misty, her best pokemon being taken out so easily, especially given how well the fight had been going with her staryu, but she would concede this round. "Damn..." Misty muttered, returning the psychic type. "I hadn't expected a water type to pull out a dark move. Though I guess they don't call croconaw the big jaw pokemon for nothing." Misty mused, sending out her staryu again. "But I'm not done yet!" Misty grinned. Staryu came out, thawed out and ready to battle. "My staryu's ability is natural cure. That means when it's switched out of battle it heals it's status effect." She explained. "Now staryu, use recover!" Misty commanded. This croconaw was going to be tough, so they were going to need all their health.

SpectralEternity
No flinching this time, that should make things a little more interesting. Also, glad I looked in the battle info and saw that Staryu doesn't have raised Defense or lowered Accuracy from being switched out. It's always good when you learn this stuff during a battle.

"Can't say I didn't know which pokemon you'd use in battle. I am a fan after all, but I know that water types don't just use water moves. Though, with your Staryu, probably won't get that kind of advantage." Alex said, knowing that Croconaw didn't have anything else that'd be strong against the pure water type. Things were going well, but he did remember what she had said earlier about Staryu. As Staryu was sent out, it was clear that the pokemon was no longer frozen. Alex couldn't help, but chuckle a bit as Misty explained. "So, that's what you meant." He was happy that he could see Misty using a tactic that he didn't know about. This was really the only gym he'd ever focused on, so he did know more about it than other ones. This made seeing Staryu use recover something that he had expected. "It wouldn't work if Staryu froze again though, but I'm not betting on that strategy working. Croconaw, lets keep up the attack, use Bite again." With the Metronome, using bite repeatedly would increase the damage. Croconaw was glad that he could keep attacking as he bit down again on the Staryu. This time, the bite didn't cause any kind of flinching, but it did pack quite the punch.

Leader Misty

Misty chuckled as Alex admitted that he knew what pokemon she would use in battle. "You really did your homework huh? Not a lot of trainers can say the same." Misty pointed out. This guy was going places, she could feel it, but now wasn't the time to be thinking about that! Misty sent out her staryu, feeling confident in explaining it's ability, something Alex hadn't known about. He seemed happy though, rather than upset his tactic hadn't worked. It was a sign of a good trainer, one who truly enjoyed battles as competitive and challenging, rather than just looking to win. He was right though, with her starmie down for the count, she couldn't switch staryu out any more if it was frozen again. Alex was planning on sticking to croconaw's bite attack though, which was both fortunate and unfortunate, since while there was no chance staryu would be frozen again, that metronome was making the croconaw's bite really powerful. Staryu didn't have a weakness to dark type attacks thankfully, but even so, it was going to be difficult to take that attack as it gained power. "Tackle it staryu!" Misty commanded, her staryu retaliating against the bite by slamming into the gator.

xxxx - - - -  As awful as he felt for it, Ezra was relieved Alex had gone ahead and challenged Misty. That meant he could prepare better an maybe find a couple of Electric-type Pokémon to use in his fight. Voltorb could be found in Lavender Town, couldn't they? Maybe he'd go and catch one. How far was Lavender from Cerulean? If he went through Saffron City, he could get there pretty quickly. But, first, he went ahead and moved Leben from his active team to make room for Voltorb. Once that was done, he left the Pokémon Center and headed for Saffron.

Alex laughed weakly at hearing her mention that he had done his homework. "I kind of saw you battle before, before I became a trainer. I used to swim competatively, since I'm from Vermillion, I've been to Cerulean a few times for that reason." He said, letting her know why he at least knew which pokemon he'd be up against. Things were going his way, since even with being tackled again, Croconaw seemed to still have lots of energy left as he waited for the next move impatiently. Alex nodded to Croconaw, before speaking. "Use Bite again." He knew the move was only getting stronger, and chances are, if Staryu flinched again, he had a feeling that they'd take out the pokemon, but if not Misty would probably use recover again. It came down to this attack to determine if the fight would continue. Croconaw rushed forward and just like the previous attacks, bit down on the Staryu. Despite the attack hitting hard, Staryu proved that it was strong as the water type didn't flinch again.

Using recover here would heal back one less HP of damage that croconaw would do with his next bite, so that's why she's tackling instead. It's a moot point lol.

Leader Misty

Misty chuckled a bit as Alex explained his background. "Ah yeah, Vermillion has a lot of great swimming programs. I remember my sisters hosting a few swim meets here." Misty said thoughtfully. That croconaw's bite was getting strong though, and Misty grimaced as her staryu was hit again. It seemed they were on their last legs. Misty debated having staryu recover again, but given how strong croconaw's bite was now, Misty figured it wouldn't do much good. It was best to try and take this croc out before it's bite got too powerful. "Keep up the attack staryu!" Misty ordered. They had been getting lucky in that staryu wasn't allowing itself to flinch like her starmie had, it was better to use that to her advantage while she could.

Oh, I see your point. lol Well, I still think you should have used Water Pulse and bet everything on the confuse status. XP Oh well, probably better for everyone if we finish this off in 10 rounds.

Alex listened to Misty explain about her sisters hosting swim meets and Vermillion City having great swimming programs. "If I remember, a trainer challenged you during one of those. I didn't get to see the tactics you used on me before today though." He said with a chuckle as he was glad to have seen such things first hand. His attention was on the battle as Misty hadn't had Staryu use recover. Instead, Croconaw took another tackle head on. Despite finally showing signs that he was close to fainting himself, the shiny water type managed to stay up on his feet. She must have been trying to take out Croconaw, before Staryu was defeated. Unfortunately for the gym leader, Croconaw was still able to move. He'd have liked the battle to last longer, but he felt that the only way to show his respect for her pokemon, he couldn't hold back. "One more Bite, Croconaw." At this point, Bite was very powerful and Croconaw lunged forward and just like before, he bit down on Staryu. As expected, this move sealed the deal as the strong Staryu finally fainted. The battle was over.
