Professor Oak was all sorts of surprised when he found a presumed new trainer in his lab already, so soon after he just got here. Not to mention her... erm, lack of coverage. Kids these days, right? "Oh, well hello there! Aren't you the eager bibarel? Well, the early pidgey gets the caterpie." Oak greeted the female light heartedly, a brief chuckle at his own wording. He didn't seem to have caught on to her act, so there was no suspicions raised. "Now then. I am Professor Oak. Are you aware of the starter pokemon available for you to choose from here? Or would you like to hear about them? They are all quite fascinating partners." He questioned her, shuffling his way through the normal procedure for handing out starters to new trainers.
The contract was simply to collect an bulbasuar, it didn't matter how she went about doing that. This job was only to judge her ability to accomplish the mission and the style in which she accomplished it. Registering as an official league trainer had its perks but it also had its con's to consider too. Turning back towards the three orbs she took a moment to consider risk to reward. This was the absolute safest and easiest way to collect on the job and with her initial objective compromised she might not get a second chance without having to use force and then she'd be to well known to risk a third attempt if the second failed. Besides running away wasn't a very good option at this point. risk to reward, reward wins.
Fremy dramatically but silently pointed to the first of the three orbs in the line up. A green leaf sticker was stamped on the front just about the release button. "That one." She said softly turning slightly back to the professor. Her pathetic expression broken by the slightest of smiles. Fremy always looks sad it was her natural expression. turning back she picked the orb up not waiting for permission. The sooner it was in hand the sooner she could make her exit. Her payment was a rather large assortment of goods after all and she really wanted to get to her prize. "Its a bulbasuar right?" She asked sounding rather meek.

Oak was already fiddling with a new pokedex when the girl made her starter choice. He looked over and gave a nod. "Right you are. Bulbasaur is a splendid choice." he commented, not seeming too bothered that she had already picked up the ball. "It's all yours now, miss." he added, and then seemed to sort of give up on the dex. Darn his old fingers in the morning! "Usually I'd do all the entering myself, but these hands of mine don't work well in the morning. All you should need to do is fill in your information here, and after a reboot, you'll be assigned a trainer ID and be registered." he explained apologetically, handing her the pokedex. An assistant that seemed to notice that there was a trainer getting a pokemon stepped in to hand over some pokeballs and potions as well to the girl, earning a thanks from the professor.

Fremy Listened thought she honestly wasn't paying the professor or his assistant any real mind. Her thoughts where of the pokemon inside the sphere she now held. Grass types pokemon where such beautiful creatures. Bulbasaur in particular where especially sublime. Fremy took the pokeballs and potions the assistant was handing her calmly if not a tad bit timidly. She didn't have much left to say, not even a thank you. Thanks where pointless, this was his jab after all. Why should she thank someone for doing they're job ? Common curtsy was a waste of time and effort when most people weren't really grateful at all or where simply keeping face. Keeping face had never appealed as anything she needed to worry about. What was the point. none the less the gave a quit nod of thanks and left.

Finally. It’d taken him two days to get here – a fact that Juliean would no doubt be greatly displeased about- but Lafayette had made it to Palett Town and was one step closer to gaining himself a ‘starter’. Which would hopefully alleviate his employer’s outrage at him becoming just a tab bit lost when it came to getting here. Train maps were just not something he could make heads or tails of and well… all the asking in the world hadn’t helped. But whatever, what’s done was done. He was here and that was what mattered.
"Come on, Noah." Lafayette glanced down to his heels to make sure the Oshawott was still in tow. Sure enough, the little otter toddled just right at his side, his shell clutched tightly between his paws as he took in the new sights. He was so used to the bustles and sounds of the trains; this place was so quiet. It was such a change from what he was used to.
"Osha…," Noah started to exclaim but was promptly cut short as his trainer started moving. Lafayette didn’t really have time to linger; he needed to identify which of the buildings was the lab and go. It was probably a good thing the town was so small; it was easy to tell residencies from other buildings and the lone giant one that was probably the lab. Lafayette didn’t bother checking the sign to be sure though; that’d just be more time wasted given his issues.
Pushing the door open a bit, the sounds of whirling machines, filing cabinets and various other scientific looking stuff confirmed to him that he was in the right place. "A’igh Noah. You stay here mate." Lafayette eyed the little otter a moment .Technically, he shouldn’t have even have him out, but Noah was one of the few pokemon he had who just didn’t like being in a pokeball. Probably for good reason given his experiences. The Oshawott’s cheeks puffed out, clearly disapproving. The blonde just gave his little friend a grin, kneeling down and giving him a rough pat on the head while he fished something from one of the pockets of his tool belt. "Here." It was a walnut, shell and all. Noah cheeks immediately deflated as his eyes grew wide, taking the walnut with one paw. If there was anything that’d keep him distracted long enough for Lafayette to get his task done, it was trying to free the contents of that nut from its shell. Perfect.
With Noah properly distracted, the man resumed his full height and stepped inside the building, eyes glancing about at all the strange doodads. Technology was not and probably never would be his forte, but that wasn’t what caught his attention anyways. No, the flickering of one of the light’s above him, indicating either a dying bulb or a faulty circuit, was what caused him to stop and stare. Someone really needed to fix that.
”Hello sir, can I help you?” A voice suddenly invaded his thoughts, attention snapping away from the light as he focused on the young woman addressing him. An assistant no doubt, judging from the labcoat she was wearing.
"G’day miss." Lafayette responded to the assistant as she disrupted his momentary obsessive focus on the flickering light above. He beamed the woman a pleasant smile. "Is the Prof in? I’m lookin’ ta get a pokie fah mahself." He remarked, head tilting just a bit as the woman seemed momentarily confused by his request. He wasn’t one to be light with his accent or his use of slang and it showed. Luckily enough, people only came to this lab for selected reasons and the aide seemed to figure it out.
”Ah yes, of course. Please follow me.” The assistant remarked, turning and leading the way back towards the back of the lab where the Professor probably resided. Lafayette maintained his smile, head nodding as he followed along after the woman.

Further back, Professor Oak was curiously looking over some papers, scribbling something down as he leaned over his desk. He seemed enrapt in what it was he was reading-- which appeared to actually be several different documents-- but looked up as they approached, offering a friendly smile. "Hello there," he greeted, setting his clipboard and pen down. He turned, facing the young man with his hands behind his back. "My name's Professor Oak. How may I help you?" Presumably, this had something to do with pokemon, though honestly the man looked as though he were here to do a repair job. Perhaps the flickering light? He hadn't personally thought it that great a problem.... Maybe one of his assistants had called him in, though? But it would be a bit rude to presume, wouldn't it...
Lafayette paused just in a few feet in front of the professor as the aide led him to him, eyeing the older man a moment. He noted he’d been looking over some documents, though he couldn’t make heads or tails of what they were, not that it mattered much. He wasn’t here to be reading over some documents after all. He was here for a starter and one of those … ah what did Juliean call it? Pokedex. Right, one of those things too.
"Pleasha ta meet you professah." The man replied, giving the older gent a wide grin. It was pretty cool to be standing in the presence of a great professor, even if realistically Lafayette knew very little about his work. And he … really didn’t know all that much other than that Professor Oak was probably the oldest of them all. He certainly looked the part. As the man inquired what he was doing there, Lafayette’s grin shrank to a proper smile.
"I’m here fah a pokie! Was hopin’ ta get a Bulbie, real rippah that one." He paused a moment, still smiling at the professor after stating what he was there for. It hadn’t taken him much thought to decide that if he had to get a starter, it would be a Bulbasaur."Reckon that’s a’igh’, yeh?" He could really make use after all of a grass type on his team, for battles and for some landscaping too. Grass pokemon had a natural affinity for that kind of stuff, right? Either way though, that was his primary goal at the moment. Now whether the professor would pick up on that fact? Well, that was another story entirely.

Professor Oak blinked. "A... Pokie, you say?" he repeated. Now whatever could that be? It couldn't be-- oh. He probably meant a pokemon. Yes, yes... that did make a bit of sense. That was what most people came here for, after all. What a curious accent, though. He didn't get very many here sounding quite so exotic. "Well, I would be happy to assist!" he added, dropping his hands and moving towards the pokemon he had stored. He nodded a bit as he listened, though frowned in confusion. A... rippah? Ripper? Rippur? Hm. Well, he assumed that was a good thing, whatever it was. "But of course. We have plenty of pokemon available for new trainers. I'll also provide you with a pokedex; it's quite useful for telling you about pokemon you encounter in your travels, and it records information on any pokemon you catch," he informed him, gathering the items onto a them, and presenting them, the bulbasaurs pokeball placed closest to Lafayette. "Which also helps my research a great deal."

Elijah had been excited the last few days when his parents granted him their permission to step out in the world. He traveled with groups of people, hopping from town to town until he made it into Pallet Town, where the well-know Professor Oak was. Though his appearance was gloomy and the least bit intimidating.He stepped into the lab with zeal, though his scarf covering the underside of his face may have made him look a bit suspicious. Peering around, Elijah noticed the old man, and strolled over to him. Honestly, he hadn't done much research on Pokemon themselves. His family just buried them. There wasn't a gym over in Lavender town so it wasn't like he got to see them in action. He was excited, to put simply. What kind of Pokemon would the doc be willing to offer him?

"Why hello there!" Professor oak greeted the rather... well, 'colorful' character that had entered his lab. Normally, with looks like that, you'd assume they were up to no good. However, It wasn't unheard of to have a trainer come through with misleading looks, so Oak set aside any judgement before it could form. "How can I help you today, young man? Are you here for a starter pokemon?" the professor questioned the pink haired male.
It didn't seem to take long for the Professor to pop up. He was as old and grey as people said, but he still seemed to be pretty nice. "Yo, you're Oak I'm guessing, since you're asking me that question." he stretched out his back and cracked his neck, approaching the older man. "Yep. I came all the way from Lavender Town to get one from ya. " surprisingly, even though his face was partially covered with his scarf, his voice didn't appear muffled.

"Lavender town, huh? You must have had quite the journey to get here." Oak commented with a smile. Now that it was confirmed the male was a new trainer seeking a starter pokemon, he could move on with the process. "In this lab, I am able to offer a choice of three starters. The Fire type, Charmander. The water type, Squirtle. And of course, the Grass and Poison type, Bulbasaur. Do you happen to know which you would like as your companion?" he informed the young man, then left him with the decision as to what starter he wanted. In the background, one of his assistants was already getting a pokedex and care package ready for the new trainer.
As Oak listed out the pokemon choices, Eli wasn't too thrilled until the last one; Bulbasaur. "Grass and Poison, you say?" he almost shouted with excitement. It was obvious that poison types suited his style. "I'll definitely take Bulbasaur, yeah." It took almost no time for him to decide, running up next to the Professor hastily. The pink haired punk was filled to the brim with anticipation.

Oak was a bit startled at the male's reaction when he said Bulbasaur's typing. My, this boy must really like poison types. "What a delightful choice! Come on, this way." he smiled, then lead the boy over to where the starters were held. He reached over and got Bulbasaur's ball, holding it out to the boy. The assistant came over right on time with the pokedex, some pokeballs and potions for the new trainer. "Here you go. Your very own Bulbasaur and a pokedex! And some pokeballs and potions to help you along the way." Oak told the male, handing over everything. It was always nice to see someone be excited over their starter choice. And while it might have been a bit odd that the kid had lit up as soon as he heard Bulbasaur was part poison type, he had a feeling the boy would take great care of it.

Elijah was more excited about the Pokemon that the dex and balls. In all honesty, if he didn't quite literally need them, he would've left with just the Bulbasaur in hand. Quickly, Eli let the Pokemon out of its ball, only to pick it up like puppy, holding it close to his chest as he nearly shivered with glee. "Thanks Prof. Oak!" he said, nearly dashing out of the lab, his much confused new partner in arms.
