Shu conveyed that she just wanted to help, and Mimsy's bitter expression softened a bit. There were countless times when she had done homework or projects for others because she enjoyed it, and if this was what Shu enjoyed, she couldn't bring herself to discourage her from it. Still, she had no desire to peel any vegetables, unless they were in the middle of a physics problem. "I see. Your happiness is of paramount importance in this. As long as you are enjoying this activity, and it is not overly-taxing, please continue as you were." She nodded towards the pile of vegetables, just in time for two other trainees to catch her attention. Or a trainee and a weapon golem in a crown? Whatever the case, she would keep her eye on them. Very carefully. Nearby, Robert posed an important question, and she stopped everything to reach into a small pocket on the interior of her coat. When her fingertips found something rough and heart-shaped, she withdrew her hand, sighed, and smiled, brief and crooked. "Good morning, again. I feel confident that this is not a dream, but those who should be doing this work are very likely daydreaming. I commend them for their clever methods of evading the responsibility of cafeteria lunch preparation, however. Unless, of course, we are preparing a hearty stew for Titans. Perhaps we would be lunch, in that case!" She giggled, then abruptly stopped with an oh, and leaned over to pinch his arm. Well. He'd asked.

The knight-in-waiting actually knelt in front of him, and Edgar could hardly keep a straight face through his urge to smile. He was too stubbornly dedicated to allow that, however, so he managed to do so by thinking about how to handle this quest log thing. Texting it might work, but he didn't know either of their names, and it still pained him to use a cell phone in costume. Maybe a verbal quest offer would work. He looked down to him, expression as serious as he could manage, and cleared his throat before speaking. "As ye arrive upon the fields of training, thou art greeted by the great Prince Edgar Precival Augustus Burke the second, he of legend. Thy task, says he, is to peel yon potatoes afore thee. Thy reward, squire, is knighthood among the royal court of the Basement Kingdom. Doth thee choose to accept?" Then he waited, very pleased with himself for maintaining the appearance of his character. Which almost slipped in the next instant, as a very cute girl curtsied to him, and asked for her job. His face visibly flushed, and he had to clear his throat again - twice - before he could repeat the 'quest text'. "As ye arrive upon the fields of training, beautiful maiden, thou art greeted by the great Prince Edgar Precival Augustus Burke the second, he of legend. Thy task, says he, is to peel yon potatoes afore thee. Thy reward, maiden, is the crowned position of princess among the royal court of the Basement Kingdom. Doth thee choose to accept?" Oh god he hoped she accepted.

Potatoes... Carrots... Bananas.... Well. This was kind of disappointing and not at all what he'd spent the night gearing himself up for. His lips pursed together, brow furrowing slightly as he pondered his next course of action carefully. < Training with a knife in hand is training, is it not?> With a knife, yes. Sure as hell aren't using you to peel potatoes. He ignored the following comment from Tivadar, tugging a pocket knife out of his bag only to flip it open and head for the pile of carrots. "C'mon, Inoke. When in Rome..." Carrots Peeled by Arland: 5

He flopped down by the crate of carrots, putting himself in position to easily grab one after another. The first five went quickly enough and then the artistic side of his brain started focusing on the grain of the carrot in his hand; the way it was shaped along with all of the untapped potential. Later on someone on the Deus kitchen would pick up a carrot and find it looking back at them, a face carved roughly into it. Satisfied with that piece of work, Arland grabbed a second and made quickly to peel it, covering his tracks. Carrots Peeled by Arland: 7

He didn't get far with the next carrot either, muse striking him again. This time he went with a touch of macabre, carving out a well manicured nail in one end of the carrot to turn it into a finger. <... This is hardly getting anything useful done, dolt.> "What do you know about art?" He muttered beneath his breath to his weapon, setting the finished product aside. Carrots Peeled by Arland: 8

He spent the next ten minutes with another carrot, cross enough with Tividar that instead of carving anything into it he simply took the entire ten minutes to very slowly peel it until it was smoothed to perfection.
Satisfied.
The silence he received in return was proof enough that the gryphon was anything but.

The tiny girl giggled and blushed a little hearing Edgar's description of her, someone had called her cute, but no one had said she's beautiful, that flattered her a lot. What he said was a foreign language that she couldn't fully understand, but she knew that this awesome cosplayer was named Edgar and his room was in basement too! Princess! It was every girl's dream to become one, to get spoiled and admired. "That's what I've been doing, I have quite a good progress, Goshujin-sama~" She smiled sweetly with a light blush. " Your order is my pleasure." Would she get a little princess crown of her own? The idea delighted her. Seeing Robert's arrival, she waved happily at him and Mimsy, showing them she was enjoying that, making a new friend and peeling potatoes. "…this is somewhat different than I expected, gotta admit that, this is a little more…banana boot camp." Admitted Jasper.
Still he opted to go ahead and try and peel some bananas, maybe he could manage to get that done without squashing them for his own amusement.
Maybe.
Of course he decided that musical accompaniment was absolutely necessary. HEY mister Tally man…Tally me ba-nahhh-na."

Potatoes and carrots earned nothing but a mute stare from the redhead and it was not a pleasant one. It didn't take a genius to realize they'd been lured with the idea of battle, experience, and doing something useful...only to be relegated to kitchen workers. Chores were not a problem. Every Hunter had a duty on their roster, a chore to be completed, and that was fine. That was their job. This was not her job. This was someone else's job and like hell she was going to do it for them!
Bananas, however? Bananas were different. Taking one of the emptied crates that had been previously full of produce she flipped it over and sat down, snagging a single banana. Peeling it slowly she revealed the delicious flesh beneath...and took a single bite. Mutinously.
Bananas peeled: One. But she ate it.

Jasper may have been using one of the bananas as a microphone. He may or may not have also been serenading Cami… because he could.
He may or may not have found the serenading with a banana that much more entertaining than peeling them.

'We should totally do coconuts after this! we could make coconut bras!"
He held up a few bananas and pretended they were earrings. "…or we could make Banana hats, I'm pretty sure that'd be fun."
Either the idea of banana hats was exciting or he'd just decided to show off a banana peeling aptitude.

If she didn't already think that Harland might be into guys she would have sworn he was flirting with her. Blushing slightly she grinned and tucked a strand of pink behind her ear, admitting softly, "I didn't know that, any of it, but its nice to know now." Laughing her eyes pulled from the others philtrum and went back to digging out the food, shuffling a tad fast now from a fluster mood. His little tid-bits of information were kind of adorable though.
Scared of him, hah, well she had been when they first met but no use in bringing that up now. "My uncle always said it was a curse so I'm glad you think the opposite. " Laughing gently she held up the sandwich and stood to begin on her own. Again unashamed to dig in Lilac began to eat a bit quickly knowing whoever was going to join them would likely show up soon, though not messily. "Wow! Theses are really delicious, did you make them?" Not that they were anything really special she knew, but food made by other people always seemed to taste better than her own, she wondered briefly if others were like that.
Taking a sip of her own coffee a smile mirrored back to Harls as he peered to her and spoke. Debriefed on Titans, the topic had an instant spark of curiosity twinkling to her eyes. She wanted to know more about this whole word, so easily slid into a proper student as Harls spoke. On a glance over the pile of gear she nodded from time to time as he explained all that he knew. Death and Moon, they certain sounded like a good pair then if what he said was correct, the best kind of friends ones that could fall back on one another she mused happily.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak a rather hurried hunter appeared, dropping off produce and peelers to them. "...Is this normal?" She asked skeptically on a head tilt to Harland. Or was this some kind of hazing thing for the newbies? At the risk of possibly failing something she downed the rest of her sandwich and on a deep inhale went to get herself and Harland a peeler and some potatoes to start. After all he would tell her if something was up she figured. Sitting down she started on the potatoes only to blink once more as carrots then bananas arrived. Furrowing a brow she glanced to Harls, was this for real, her hands were going to look awful after this.

"I doubt anyone who was saying things like that back in Rome wasn't talking about this." He waved a hand at the barrels the other hunters had left. "I mean really. What are we doing? Carrots and potato I get, sorta ... those make soup or stew. But bananas?" He picked up a carrot, more tempted to eat it than peal it. "I'm supposed to learn how to kill things with a knife, not falay them. Pretty sure someone might frown if I start doing that to enemies." He bit into the first carrot he picked up, since he'd screwed up pealing it anyway and set about at least trying. Carrots Peeled: 3

Peyton rolled her eyes at the tall Sun before Noah's presence pulled her attention to him. She waved, flagging him down, then froze. Vegetables, and fruits, countless quantities, being rolled in. All, apparently, needing to be peeled. Lips pursed, she stood there staring, wondering what the ******** any of this had to do with defeating titans. Where were the harnesses, where was the special equipment? This didn't make any sense.

Milo hadn't noticed the lack of arriving authority in the beginning, too engrossed with those close and conversing with him. But then things got wheeled in, barrels of different food stuffs all presented to them with a job attached. The Sun gave those potatoes, carrots and bananas a curious look, pursing his lips tight as he shifted his stance to lean a little on Noemi's smaller frame (poor girl).
"You think this is some sort of trainin'?" Milo propped up a question, his imagination of course in the works, "Like in Gekiranger when Jan learned some fighting skills from cleanin' the floors or when they met the geki masters?" Or, maybe he'd throw in a reference a few more people would know, "or Karate Kid?" 'cause yeah, what did this have to do with titans?
There was extra pay involved though.
