Come to think of it, he didn't have anything here- and he'd been inside a warm room when he fell asleep. He was alone and helpless and becoming very afraid...

Basil didn't know where he was. He couldn't see or smell anything. It was just empty space. He was waitless-but there was always weight. Always something holding him back and keeping him in his place. His brothers and sisters. His tangled web of a tail.
He froze, breath coming out in small short bursts, whiskers twitching rapidly. Empty. He was empty. There was nothing in his head. No connection. He turned and didn't feel the distinct tug on his tail-on his tails. Nor did he feel the other consciousnesses trying to go their own way.
He turned and his own tail lay there. Limp, unknotted, alone.
He was alone. He was never alone. Fear began to set in. He was never alone. He was never alone!
He shrieked but only silence echoed it back.

Aiden walked along the seemingly endless road. On either side of the road were rows of houses but they each were clearly abandoned and in disrepair. Gardens were wilted and black, windows were smashed in, roofs caved in, doors hanging open, and more. There was no sign of life around him, not even animals nor insects. His heart thumped wildly in his chest as his panic steadily grew and his foot steps sped up. Where was everyone? How did this happen? Where was he? So many questions raced through his mind until it all went blank in shock.
The reason for the blankness was clear to anyone who could see the road ahead of him. The road finally ended but the end was not what he expected or wanted. It end in a circle plaza with a memorial statue for the dead. The reason why he blanked in shock was because the memorial statue was made up of everyone he held dear. His brain rebooted and he opened his mouth to let out a cry in pain and loss...
...and woke up safe in his bed with Souji asking him about why he hah started crying in his sleep.

Your greatest fears and hesitations rise up to meet you, memories or ones not yet fulfilled, anxieties grip and tear into you.
You dream a terrible dream one that seems to last forever.
The sound of glass shattering startled Bennett back into consciousness. She must have dozed off again. Maybe she had been spending too long in the lab. The dull light outside indicated that it was, indeed, well into the morning. She'd been working all night. Raking her thin fingers through her long hair, she looked for the source of the breaking sound near her feet, assuming she had dropped something or knocked it off the table. Everything was as it should be.
Again, a small crash was heard. More glass breaking. Bennett shot up from her stool, spinning around to find the source. Surely she wasn't going mad! She hadn't worked that long! A sense of discomfort that she couldn't quite place began to overtake her. Her normally icy skin prickled and felt...warm. Her eyes were flittering around the lab, her ears open to any disturbance. Than again! Smash! The sharp sound of another instrument hitting the ground. Everything felt surreal and the warmth on her skin was growing, turning into what she could only imagine as heat. If she had a beating heart, it would have been racing as she moved, feeling as though the air was thick, toward the source of the noise.
"Father! What are you--What are you doing?" She cried, her voice feeling more trapped than usual as she watched him pick up another of her instruments and throw it to the floor. "Please, I need you to--I need--" As she watched, seemingly unable to move to stop him, her voice failed her completely, leaving her feeling chocked and confused.
"Bennett, the time has come for you to put away these foolish tinkerings. You are an embarrassment to this family. Locked away in this lab night and day."
"Father!" She managed to squeak out, taking a minuscule step towards him as he picked up another glass flask that had, only moments ago, been bubbling over a warmer.
"NO! Your mother and I have had enough." As if on cue, Bennett felt her mother's hard fingers close around her shoulder, pulling her away from her father, towards the door.
"Come now dear. You know you can't hide away forever. It's far time you became a proper young vampire and joined the family." Her mother's voice was not so angry as her father's, but somehow devoid of any of the understanding that she'd become accustomed to hearing. As her mother moved her closer and closer to the door, she felt her skin prickle more and more with the strange heat.
"I just need to...I just...Mother, please?" She begged, trying to reach for the notebooks off of one of her tables, but finding them inexplicably out of her reach. Her father smashed the contents of another table in a sweeping gesture of his arm.
"We just need to get you away from this nonsense, dearie. You'll be much better after that." Her mother said, one hand stroking Bennett's hair, in what seemed to be an attempt to soothe her. But Bennett didn't feel soothed, she only felt more panic and more heat.
Her father was following them now towards the door, his expression hard, as he brushed all the papers and instruments from seemingly every table before following Bennett and her mother out the door. It felt even hotter out here, though her parents didn't seem affected, only cold and indifferent as she struggled to make her way back to the door.
"My work--my work is all in there. I need--I just need--" Again she choked on her own words, unable to insist this was unnecessary, frightened by the anger in her father, frightened by the unfamiliar heat. It wasn't until her father picked up a torch that she understood the prickling heat that was plaguing her.
Fire. Not normal fire that lit the candles. A true blaze at the end of a long torch, that she watched. Her mother's arms gripped her tightly now, knowing that Bennett finally understood as she watched the torch disappear from her father's hands onto the floor of her lab, erupting as it began gobbling everything it touched. She couldn't make a sound as she wretched from her mother's grip towards the door, only to have her father, slam and lock the door to the lab.
"Now, Benny, I've got you a lovely new dress. Take a moment, gather yourself and get ready to come downstairs." Her mother's voice was calm, as though it was just a little hissy fit thrown by a toddling ghoul.
"You'll find yourself much more normal now that you're away from all this nonsense!" her father snarled, taking her mother by the arm and leading her down the hall and out of sight.
Bennett only watched until they were gone from her sight before flinging herself at the door, trying desperately to get back inside. She could feel the heat of the flames licking at the other side of the door. She knew it would lick at her skin too if she remained there, but she couldn't leave. Couldn't abandon everything she'd ever known, everything she'd worked for, the only place she'd felt safe and sane. It burned. The wood trim on the stone door was beginning to catch on the other side, and yet she remained, unable to move either through the door or away from it, unable to call for help, unable to cry in rage at what her parents had done, unable to do anything.
She had failed her parents. She had let them down. She had robbed them of everything they'd wanted in a daughter. Now they had robbed her of everything she was and abandoned her to her despair.
I've got to move away from--move away from the--Must get inside--inside. Save it. I can save it. The broken pattern of her speech had found it's way inside her mind. Thoughts stumbled over each other, interrupted each other, and soon became incoherent as she leaned on the door, feeling she had become part of it, as the heat from the flame began to sear her skin. It was done...it was...nothing. She was...nothing.

"Come here little girl... We only want to play." The thing said, as she approached Riley. "You'll be fine..." It said, as it's eyeball fell out.
Riley screamed. It was hideous. She wanted to get as far away from her as possible. "Leave me alone!" She shouted, turning around to run, and falling over onto her bottom. She looked up at what had blocked her running. The thing with no eye had shown up. It was going to kill her.
It bent down, smiling a sadistic grin. "Awww.. Are you scared?" She said. "You should be." It said as it placed a hand on her. She screamed a blood curdling scream, and struggled her wrist away from it's grasp, but was unable to get her wrist free.
The thing lifted Riley's hand to her face. "What a nice hand..." It said, and then proceeded to take a bite out of it. Riley screamed. She screamed so hard, she woke up screaming, and drenched in sweat. I HEREBY AGREE BY ENTERING THAT I AM SIGNING MY CHARACTER UP FOR POTENTIAL SUFFERINGno yes i do.

He and Cadence were almost always together, two sides of one coin. He stopped running. Why had he even been doing that? There was nothing even chasing him.
Suddenly the ground rumbled beneath his feet, but it sounded like the growling of a giant beast. Oh. So that could have been why he was running. His boots hit the ground as he sped off again, but it seemed there was no end to whatever beast was coming for him. The white surroundings turned black, and the floor split beneath him. He let out a gasp of surprise as he fell, grabbing for the edge and hanging on for dear life. Please.
The words rang out in the darkness over and over again as the petite ghoul continued to walk among the ill-formed world. Beyond her vision was a mist, a heavy veil masking the shapes of what would be buildings. There was no skip in her step, no bounce or even smile as she continued to wander aimlessly. Something was amiss.
"Hello?"
The words were hollow and echoed back to her sensitive ears, sending a shiver down her spine. It wasn't even her voice that came back to her, it was foreign and meek, nothing like her excited self. It made her shudder again and she stopped, holding onto herself. Her breath was chilled and Mea made a squeak, her ears recoiling tightly to her body.
Empty.
"Is someone there?!" She yelled, looking out into the veiled darkness, trying to make out any familiar shape.
Suddenly there was a clack of footsteps in the distance and her ears bounced. "Hey!" She called, running towards the sound. "Wait, please!" She felt exasperated as she broke into a sprint. Desperation was on her face as she attempted to close the distance while around her the buildings began to bend and warp through the mist. Their shapes became gnarled and twisted, jagged at the edges and closing in around her.
She was just so close now, her ears could sense it and she felt that she could see a shadow just beyond her grasp. Taking a running start she attempted to jump for them, reach them...
Crack!
Like a shot from a cannon a loud, thunderous crack rattled from under her and her body stopped, swaying back and forth. The floor under her was shattering as if it had become glass. Underneath was a surge of black liquid. Mea felt her eyes go wide as she tried to avoid the cracks, but it was too late and she felt herself slip into it.
Whatever it was felt thick and slimy to her as she struggled, her petite body sinking into it. "Help!" She called out, floundering to grab hold of anything. There was a sharp pain in her hands as she grabbed tightly to the splintered glass of what had been the floor. A sharp pain ran through her body as her bloodied hands struggled to grab onto the smooth surface. "HELP!" She screamed again. Screeching sounds echoed hollowly in her ears as her hands continued to slide backwards. Hot pain seared through them and she clawed, the liquid moving acting as a suction, threatening to pull her down into the dark abyss.
The mist was thick now, the spiraling and haunting images of buildings far off as the petite ghoul attempted to keep herself afloat. Over the empty area the footsteps returned and Mea lifted her ears out of the water. "Over here!" She cried, her voice hoarse, barely holding on. They were approaching slowly and she tried to lift her head out of the water to see. A surge of liquid splashed over her and she coughed, slipping until she was grabbing hold of the side, barely hanging on.
Overhead a shadow was moving and she felt a cold, clammy hand take hold of one of hers, lifting her above the liquid. Coughing and sputtering she grabbed hold weakly. "Th-thank you-" Her pink eyes looked up with gratitude in them, searching for a face to thank.
Instead she found her heart freeze in fear and the breath in her throat stalled, forcing her to cough. Above her, with long spindly fingers, her eyes were meeting her own... and yet, not her own. It was wrong, so very wrong, like a demented fun house mirror. It was a lanky, skinny version where the bones could easily be seen. Her neck was crooked and stared down with hollow eyes and a plastered, fake smile on her face. The clothes were frayed beyond recognition and a shroud of darkness surrounded her.
Shivers were running through Alamea. Was it a mirror image? Her eyes faltered at the face and stopped. A splash of red was soaked into her clothes and her eyes followed the trail to a gaping wound where the heart would be. It was darkened with a charred black while dried blood stains were splattered over her clothes. Mea was aghast.
The hand tightened around her arm, pulling mercilessly at her arm until her torso was lifted out of the liquid. Was it saving her? "Th-"
"The blood is on your hands." It shrieked, opening its mouth with a pointed, sadistic smile.
Mea sputtered and tried to speak, but no words came to her rescue. Nothing could be said as the apparition before her stared soullessly back at her. "Please." She finally squeaked out.
"IT IS ON YOUR HANDS!!" It protested, shaking her and grinning wider, the bottom of her face made mostly of teeth, sharpened to points and coming close. "...your hands." It repeated again. Mea was grasping the hand, trying to move her legs from the ooze and back to the ground but was failing. In her mind the words were screaming for her to run, for her to do anything to get away.
"Please-" She started again.
It was too late for that as she felt the thrust of her arm and gravity did the rest. The world of mist and gnarled shaped disappeared in the black abyss of the liquid. In the void of the liquid she felt it creep into her, choking her as she fell deeper and deeper into darkness. Her eyes focusing on the red liquid pouring out from the deep cuts on her hands, spreading out amongst the blackness. With a last look of the red cloud around her she released a final, futile scream.
Please don't leave me... alone...

YOUR GAIA USERNAME: Felyn CHARACTER YOU ARE ENTERING WITH: Scarlett Grace Voliva LINK TO THEIR QUEST OR JOURNAL:[<3] RED OR WHITE? Red NIGHTMARE SOLO PROMPT: First, there was darkness. It was not remarkable, it was not even scary, it just was. She existed here.
But there was something else, a flash of red. A great mask loomed from the darkness before her, the color of blood against the vast emptiness that surrounded them. The grim mouth smiled, kindly at first, but then it warped into a wicked leer.
All around her laughter pealed, echoing off walls that didn't exist. It was manic, unrestrained and terrifying.
She was surprised to feel her own hand against her chest, digging into her hunter's coat as it tried to crush down the terror swelling inside her ribcage. Cold gripped her like jack frost was using her heart as a canvas. In the same moment that she became aware of her own body, the floor beneath her gave way and she fell unceremoniously through the imaginary support, colliding roughly into a pile of rocks.
No.
A rocky path.
Her fingers curled over familiar stones until her nails ground into the gravelly soil beneath it. The smell of pine trees filled her lungs and somewhere in the distance the church bell chimed midnight, even though it had never rung after sundown a day in her life.
The panic in her heart spread to her lungs, until she was gasping for the cold country air in ragged, strained heaves. Her eyes shut and one hand rose to her chest again, willing her anxiety to abide. The sound of church bells were now the sound of her own heartbeat, pounding in her ears.
"Scarlet" A soft whisper just above the sound of her frantic heart, but she ignored it. Then again. "Scarlet".
She opened her eyes the second time, opened them to stare straight into the coal black eyes of the mask. In that sudden darkness, she screamed out her fear until a wind picked up around her. Her terror was swallowed up in the howling winds as they swirled, fading in and out until she wasn't sure if it was the wind or that terrible laughter that was deafening her.
Then it stopped, abruptly, and when Scarlett opened her eyes she was in darkness. It was not remarkable, it was not even scary, it just was. She existed here.
But there was something else..

YOUR GAIA USERNAME: Raja CHARACTER YOU ARE ENTERING WITH: Molan LINK TO THEIR QUEST OR JOURNAL:Here RED OR WHITE? White (Other char is red so would prefer to try each side.) NIGHTMARE SOLO PROMPT:
Dreams were a peculiar thing. Curious, and brought about by one's mind working in strange ways. In truth, Molan actually did enjoy debating dreams a bit while preparing for a day in the morning. This, however was different.
A world etched in shadows, nothing so unpleasant. Their world could be dark as much as there was sometimes light, he didn't mind the shadows. What troubled him was the hollow echo his steps left, the endless stillness of it all.
There wasn't a single other soul about. Nothing anywhere.
He felt as if it had been days that he walked along, encountering no stir in the world aside from his own stubborn steps. Where was he? He didn't recognize anything, even from the beginning he hadn't. There was only him in the world, this large... empty land.
It was full of things, but there was no one. A place of isolation. The question was not what it was anymore, he'd come to terms with that. The question was why it was this way, what had brought it? That question, and the impending answer was what caused dread to continue to grow in the back of his mind as he stepped along. Continually accompanied by merely the sound of his own steps. Further off into this empty place.
But the dream didn't want him to wander forever it seemed, rather the sound of noise. The clatter of metal drew his attention, ears perking as he turned rather jerkily to swerve toward the noise. While he wasn't so undignified as to run, his pace was brisk as he moved, only in time to see a gate that stretched to the heavens close and figures moving along away from it, fading into a shadow. What was this? The words never left his lips even as he got closer, recognizing the figures as fellow students. Those nearest the gate the ones he saw most often. He reached up a hand as he drew closer, enough that his voice would reach. "Where are you going?" Why such a boring question? But they had turned away, walking into that misty expanse like the countless shadows around them, milling further away from this world he was trapped in. The lock on the gate making that rather evident.
"Who knows." The tone was rather uncharacteristic from the short undead ghoul, the friendly smile missing from her face as she glanced over her shoulder. "You're the one who said we weren't good enough." It was etched on the features of her face, but now that he looked other faces too. That hurt and also anger underneath. "I... did what?" There was a noise of contempt from another figure, the ghoul had already turned away from him to continue along. "Unsightly, not worthy of showing, annoying- there's a number of words." Well, yes. Those were things said at times, but not directly. Not to everyone. He recalled those usually only meant for those who'd tarnish the family reputation, but... balancing things was important.
"But you don't understa-" It shook it's head, flinging a hand out to dismiss him before calling again. "We do. That no one's good enough for your perfect little world, and we should have gotten out long ago."
No one liked to be judged, not they. Nor he. But... he didn't like it either. He didn't hate them, well not all of them. But he wouldn't have meant it... he would have only said it because of family need. Something for appearances. But... but that didn't mean he wanted to be left behind all alone. To watch them all deem him too conceited to be worth the time...
And yet now all he could do as he stood at the gate was watch helplessly as they left. Words seeming lost on the barrier. Locked away in a place for an eternity that wouldn't end.

It started harmless enough, one set of eyes sitting there staring. Small, nothing alarming at all really. Just enough to make one curious, cautious steps taken almost methodically. Slowly creeping towards the source, when suddenly millions of eyes, nothing but eyes staring, judging. The suddeness causes a stumble, steps backwards until sitting, pressed against a wall. Shrinking tiny as possible so as not to be noticed while the eyes stared, but that wasn't all. Nope it wasn't all, at all; suddenly a thin line started. Then curling at the edges, up into a grin - from a grin to a jeer. Maniacal laughter blood curtailing, slowly dissolving into a sound akin to nails on a chalkboard. Brightness split the world down the middle and Renatus was tumbling gently across hard, warm stones. Above him in the blinding light a bird called triumphantly, crying out joy in the light.
Around him there was the smell of something burning. It was comforting.
Then the joyful cry faded, died. His eyes cleared and he woke, covered in ash. From his stony perch he saw the world around him in fast forward. Trees grew in seconds, flowers withered and were replaced. Snow fell, melted, rain grew lakes that evaporated. His wings grew, his feathers filled, and his fire swarmed up proudly around him. Mountains grew on the horizon, trees fell and roads were beat through the hearty woods. His bones were weak, fragile.
Time sprawled out before him, even as his flames grew hotter and hotter. They began sizzling at the tips of his feathers, crawling up his sides and consuming him. The sun set on the day around him and he choked on the smoke, drowning in ash and darkness.
He cried out for the light, for the triumphant, but only filled his lungs with the taste of failure.
