I wish VJ was still a thing...I could just link to a flash space with a long playlist and we all would chat in real time lol.

Yeah, Gaia got rid of some pretty decent things. I miss the chat they had about half a year ago.

Nariana Yeah, Gaia got rid of some pretty decent things. I miss the chat they had about half a year ago. Are you talking about the IM system or Friend Chat? In both cases of the IM system, it was due to the third party backing out of it or discontinuing their service (AOL with GAIM, Google when they acquired Meebo). Guilds chat seems to be functional half the time.

Ummm, I'm not entirely sure honestly. I think it was Meebo. It was phased out just recently. We still have a chat app on Gaia??

Nariana Ummm, I'm not entirely sure honestly. I think it was Meebo. It was phased out just recently. We still have a chat app on Gaia?? We had two forms of instant messaging service. The first was GAIM and it came with zOMG. The second was Meebo, that came with the second footer bar. Meebo was killed off as soon as it was acquired by Google because they wanted to promote their competing product (Google Hangouts/Talk) instead. Not an instant messaging system, but if you click the 'Join Chat' button on the guild's home page, it'll take you to a beach-themed single-room flash space (assuming it's working correctly at the moment).

Okay, not the zOMG one then. I haven't played in a few years. Meebo was really useful for quick chat. Better than PM because it notified you in real-time. Flash spaces aren't convenient to me. I tend to multitask, and keeping up with the chat feed is just bleh. Gaia needs to stop focusing so much on new items and update its guild and communication systems. >.>

Oh I hated Meebo. If I was using an old computer with out dated software it would take forever to load preventing me from doing anything on Gaia until it was finished loading. Most of the time it just got in my way.
I agree with you Nari, the guild system as a whole could use some updating. At the very least it would be nice if there was a way to tell if a guild is active or dead without having to check the dates on forums. Of course, that may just be me being lazy. xd

Of course, that may just be me being lazy. xd The problem with this is there isn't a good standard for 'active guild'. Average posts per day? These disproportionately punish tiny guilds and/or ones that fill in niches. It also heavily favors spam and mainstream fandom RP guilds of variable quality. A similar activity formula to the one used for spotlight? Time since last post? It's too swingy and has consistently let through false positives (guilds that have just formed). I'm hittin' up the 'looking for guild' threads at the moment, maybe someone will bite.

(excuse the double post) (Quoting from Temp thread; it would be offtopic to continue it there) I'm not going to split off more subforums lol. We've got a glut of them as it is. I think a tag system will work better, like how the Exchange has [T], , and . Instead we use like [ship], [gen], [com], etc. I'd read fics if someone wrote any, but I'd only write for requests (not that they'd turn out good but whatever lol).
...although I did just get another idea: fics set up as roleplays between the players of characters involved. It depends on those two people being active, but removes the feeling of not doing another person's character justice when writing them out.

Still getting used to proper placement of topics, I guess. >.< So create a fanfic, then act it out 1x1? Or what? Slightly elaborate. I kind of get what you're saying.

(I've got a cat that wouldn't get out of my lap for a while lmao) I think it'd be easier if I explained it with an example: You have an idea for a crackfic shipping Sabe and Nariana. You can write it out yourself, or you can ask me to write out Sabe's part if you don't think you can do it yourself, and treat it as a 1x1 (or whatever the case may be, there might be multiple people involved). You'd tell me the premise of the fic and the general direction of it, and I fill in dialogue and character-appropriate reactions.

Okay, so we wouldn't actually RP it. We'd just collab on writing it.

Nariana Okay, so we wouldn't actually RP it. We'd just collab on writing it. I consider those two to be the exact same thing sweatdrop So yes, it would be a 1x1 RP. I do a terrible job of explaining things, par for the course. The difference is I understood create a fanfic as in 'write it out fully'. What I mean is come up with a premise that we RP from.
