Wen - Ring toss Marks 4 1/4
"I was thinking more of the ring toss then the high striker. Speed, air currents, surface, distance all calculates in to it." Wen glanced over at the other game. "That one.. is brawny, something I'm sure Jemi would excel in." She had a reason to show her strength off.
"Humor me for a bit?" Wen asked, moving towards the ring toss and handing over a quarter mark for a try. He wouldn't spend much here... but a try or two to wouldn't be a major lost of funds.
He took the rings, eyed the targets and tossed them.

Cai - Ring Toss Marks: 3 3/4
"I suppose." She folded her arms and watched him take a turn, trying to see if it really was as scientific as he had said. Really seemed like it was pure dumb luck that dictated whether you won or not. The thought of Jemi playing the hammer game did draw a smirk from Cai. "I'd be surprised if she hadn't already been here. Too bad you weren't here last time. They had wrestling."
Wen's score was less than Impressive. Too bad for him, Cai was not the consoling sort. She snorted. "That was terrible Wen. Was the wind speed wrong?" Cai pulled a quarter mark from her pocket, gingerly set her bag at her feet, and claimed three rings for herself. "It's probably all just luck."

J'nes - Ingar's stall 6 Marks (5 from rank, 1 from threadfall pearls)
J'nes waited through the speeches, then waited a bit more as people began to head off for the Gather. Eventually he decided J'len wasn't coming just yet. She had said she just wanted to sit down for a moment and she'd be right along, but perhaps she had dozed off. He wouldn't blame her in the slightest; taking care of a new baby was hard work, and she'd had to do more of the work than he'd liked since he'd had to take it easy the past couple days while his Threadscored leg healed. Ah well, he may as well start on the Gather without her, and if she came along later their dragons would help them get in touch easily enough. It just meant more baby time for him.
So he slowly levered himself to his feet with the aid of the table, then set off to investigate the Gather. The food smells were tantalizing as always, but he wasn't hungry just yet and wanted to see what else there was first. A couple of games and a variety of stalls were apparent, but the shine of polished metal at a stall caught his eye and he went over to look. A smith's craftwork was on display, everything from a gold dagger to small hoop earrings. A broach of a gold dragon drew his admiration, but after the briefest moment's thought he determined it was not anything he wanted. He had no need for such himself, and while he might like to get something pretty for J'len, a gold dragon would not suit her at all. He looked through the rings, and while some of them were quite pretty, he couldn't recall if she ever wore one. That didn't mean she couldn't of course, but would she want to? Best to wait until he found something he was more sure she'd like. The earrings were out, he was pretty sure her ears weren't pierced, and he doubted she'd start now. Not to mention hoop earrings would be inadvisable as soon as small hands started reaching and grabbing for things. And at that, he made a mental note to baby-proof the weyr before the little guy learned to crawl.
There was one thing at the stall that seemed useful. The plain daggers would not make for a pretty gift for his weyrmate, but looked to be of solid construction and sharp. With the times troubling as they were, a good blade could be valuable. "Pardon me," he asked the smith, "how much are those simple daggers, and may I have a closer look at one?"

TawnyAngel "Well thank you!" Ingar replied with a big grin. "Smith yourself are you lad? Glad to have somebody in the know looking over. It's very nice when a layman gives you a compliment of course but from somebody who knows what they're on about it's all the better." I'saak - Ingar's Stall 4 7/8 marks
"I am, sir. Journeyman these two turns back." I'saak ducked his head, flushing slightly with pride at the accomplishment - he was still happy for having done it. "Haven't made anything near this beautiful, though - may I?" He asked quietly, reaching for one of the plain silver rider's knives on display. The obviously golden blade was ignored - out of I'saak's price range, and the smith wasn't exactly the kind of person to purchase a purely decorative weapon, either - but the more practical pieces...he picked one with the dragon's eyes picked out in green stone.
"Beautiful," he murmured, turning it over in his hands as he checked the weight and heft of the blade. "How much is it?"

S'lin - Ring Toss 4 1/2 Marks 6 points: spending.
As S'lin strolled through the Gather, a crowded stall in the games area caught her attention. As she drew closer she saw it was a game of ring toss, with various prizes on display. She considered them a moment. There were some nice ones, most of them were likely worth at least the price of the game, maybe more. And it did look fun. So she paid for three rings of her own and gave them a toss.
One ring fell far short, one actually bounced off a peg, but the third landed squarely and netted her 6 points. Not bad, she could get something decent with that. She surveyed the prizes, considering the ones she could afford. Some useful, some decorative, a few that looked more frivolous than anything. Eventually she decided the wooded boxes seemed most useful to her. "Excuse me," she said to the stall owner. "May I have a look at some of those wooden boxes, please?"

R'an - Leaving the NPC Weaver stall and heading towards the Ring Toss - Approx. 2 1/2 Marks After paying for RingToss Points: 14 R'an was done browsing, he had bought his two bandanas and stashed them inside his sling, easiest place to reach with one hand. After that there really wasn't anything he was willing to spend on since he had all he might need, but the attention from the Ring Toss game was getting ridiculus so he headed over there. Seeing the prizes, he smiled alittle, okay, he might like a new notebook, just to sketch in. Or Syriacuth might like that little dragon toy. Even if the dragon seemed so proud and aloof right now while he was in pain. He figured that the big softie would love something to cuddle with. He figured, what could it hurt? He set the 1/4 mark down and grabbed the rings, "Okay, lets see how I can do this with one arm." He tossed. He grinned as he got a nice number! He even could get something off the top shelf! He was looking at that notebook, but now he started to look at the other items. Maybe he should go again? (*) Heill - Ring Toss - 1 1/2 Marks Current points: 10 New Points: 19! He grinned at his 10 points and looked through the prizes. He didn't know if he wanted more, those sweets were really calling to him, but he realized he could get more. Maybe more of the things on the top shelf? His sensible, slightly adult, pessimistic side said that he would be wasting his money while his childish side said DO IT! He grinned and set down another 1/4 mark, it would be his last one, he told himself as he tossed. He whooped loudly. 10 more points! Oh he so wanted to try again but he was good! His mother would smack him upside the head if he tried again, so he called out. "Hey! Can I have my prizes now?" He asked of the vendor. ((First 3 are R'an's. Last 3 are Heill's))

Riarna - PC Weavers Stall ALL ITEMS OUT - OPEN FOR CUSTOMERS
Riarna set up her small signs indicating the prices for each item once everything was out on the table. She even set up signs that indicated commissions were accepted and informed customers of a special sale for commissioned women's shirts in the new style Riarna had picked up.
She had yet to tell Kindra the price of the dress, but since the woman had indicated interest only a moment before Idris had addressed them, Riarna found it best to wait. She could continue her discussions once they were done.
At this hour, most people hadn't even begun doing their shopping; they were playing games, still, or trying to get snacks or meet up with friends. There would be plenty of time for sales later.
Cetalese - Wandering around the stalls, afternoon/early in the fair 5 Marks
Daine was chirruping Ceta's ear off as the pair wandered through the chatty, mixed crowds. The Greenrider was without an escort at present, but her friends and lover were around somewhere. She would send Daine for them if they didn't run in to one another in a timely fashion.
She browsed through the stalls as she passed, keeping an eye out for Smith and Tanner booths. She was always willing to spend money on something practical; it was difficult for her to spend money on the more superfluous items that caught her eye (like the vest she had passed on last Gather). She rarely regretted her frugality later on, but... well, there was still a hesitation where she wanted to go back and purchase the item for a short time after those decisions.

"Well belated congratulations," the smith went on to I'saak as J'nes arrived, he gave a small nod of his head to the brown rider to let him know he'd not be long. "Please feel free," he added with a nod towards the rider's daggers. "You'll not find finer work anywhere near here, decades of skill has gone into making those beauties. I'd usually sell daggers like that for five marks or so but I've got them here today for four marks young sir."
"Hello there sir!" Ingar beamed turned then to J'nes at the new father and made a sweeping gesture to the simple daggers. "These are only a mark today, usually they'd be dearer - two and a half marks - but I've got special prices on my daggers in honour of the occasion. Pick up any one you like, see what feels good in your hand."
"You've got a good arm on you!" the stallkeeper observed with a big smile - hard to say if it was meant or not - and a nod for S'lin. "Go right ahead miss and take a look at them, all very fine work I'm sure you'll find, my cousin makes them."
The stall keeper then turned top Heill with another big smile, wondering silently if he should have made the prizes more expensive or given people fewer throws. "Of course you can young sir! Just pick out what you like."

I'saak - Ingar's Stall 4 7/8 marks
Four marks...
Technically, he could afford that. As he turned the knife over in his hands, he frowned thoughtfully. Ingar was right - it was beautiful craftsmanship. He traced the lines of the hilt, turned it over several times, and eventually unsheathed it to look at the blade. He had no use for a knife, but C'ross...
Well, C'ross was clearly going to be throwing himself into situations where he really had no excuse to be if he was unarmed. And I'saak would much prefer he go in able to protect himself.
The blade was good. His thoughts weren't quite moving linearly. Four marks. It was a big purchase - especially on a gamble. What if C'ross didn't like it? What if it messed everything up? But at the same time, it was beautiful. He set the first dagger down, picking up one with garnet eyes and turning it over just as thoughtfully. Another check to the blade. The uniformity of work...what right did a journeyman have to try and bargain over something like this? But still...
"Your prices are more than fair, Master Smith," he began, giving the man a smile that he was worried might have faltered. "But I'm afraid that's almost everything I have. I'd love to buy one of these beauties from you, but I'm not quite sure I can afford four marks..."

((Rolling for ring toss game - r'an)) R'an - Ring Toss - approx. 2, 1/4 Marks left? (*) R'an decided to give it another go and grinned as he got more points. Okay Now was a good time to stop, he had everything he needed to really get something. He noticed a younger candidate, from his cords, calling for attention and let him go first. He only wished he had another 6 points for that belt pouch. He would have liked to use that to carry around his notebook and ink. But oh well, it was enough. (********) Heill - Ring Toss, Collecting Prizes Heill counted out his points on his fingers and started to list off the items he wanted from the shelves. After this would be a good piece of pie and he would hang around the feast area and watch everyone. He didn't need to get into anymore trouble today. If he saved his marks, maybe he could keep them over until the next gather. If he hid them well, he might get more! Grinning at his idea, he started to list off his items. "I'd like that bag of Marbles you have that, that belt pouch, and two bags of those sweets!" He said with a bright, disarming smile, he knew worked on older women. "Please!" He called as an after thought. He should try to be polite after all. That would leave him completely cleaned out, so he waited for his prizes, wishing he was bigger than he was so he could carry it all back to his room! Though the belt pouch would help! If he was wearing a belt... Maybe he could buy one?

V'lay - Ring Toss 4 3/4 Marks
V'lay was wandering. He had nowhere in particular that was capturing his attention, but the food smelled good (and the wine looked even better than the food smelled - no doubt he'd be headed there soon enough) and the atmosphere was infectious. Disappointed as he was by the new choice in Wingsecond for Dauntless wing, he nonetheless sucked it up and put it out of his mind. If women wanted to run the world into the ground, they could.
The ring toss caught his attention. V'lay wasn't often one for stupid, petty things, but he nonetheless passed over a quarter-mark, took the rings he was handed, and gave them a cursory toss.
Spectacular miss. Shaking his head and offering a smile to the stallkeeper and other competitors, V'lay simply turned and walked away before he let competititveness get the better of him.

J'nes - Ingar's stall 5 Marks (54 from rank, 1 from threadfall pearls)
"Sounds like a bargain," J'nes told the smith as he examined the simple daggers. He picked up one, feeling the weight and balance of it, examining the hilt and blade, running a finger over the metal hilt. A metal hilt didn't suit him, so he put it down and picked up one with a hilt wrapped in brown leather, embossed with a simple scrollwork pattern. He liked the feel of this one better. To test blade, he ran a finger lightly crosswise across the edge - not along the edge, he didn't want to cut himself - and found it quite sharp. As far as he could see, the metal looked to be good quality, with no obvious flaws and polished to a bright shine. He examined one or two other daggers similarly, but eventually decided to go with the dagger with the brown leather hilt. After all, it was a lighter shade of brown that almost matched the majority of Hatteth's hide.
He caught the smith's attention and said, "I'd like to buy this one, if I may," and pulled out a one mark coin to hand to the man.

Cetalese - Vintner's Stall 5 MarksThe vintner's stall was already doing a fair business, but Cetalese found herself pausing just outside the small crowd. It might not be a bad idea to pick up a bottle for later, or to put aside for a special occasion. A pair of grinning weyrfolk vacated their positions at the front about the time Cetalese decided to see what the stall had to offer, and she quickly and politely excused herself into their places, looking over the selection available. It seemed the Glasscraft had gotten their tenterhooks into the vintner business; rather than skins of wine, it appeared this pair was selling bottles. The prices were fair, nothing too heavy, but Ceta would sample the stock before she purchased anything. If their fair wines were good, she'd think about picking up a bottle of something a bit more expensive. "A glass of your fair white, please?" she asked, sliding a Mark across the counter to get change. She might end up needing the smaller marks later in the night. She glanced briefly at the small trays of assorted snacks. This might not be a bad place to wait for someone to come by. Halith, has D'lin put in an appearance yet?I have not heard from Plexith yet, Cetalesemine, but I can ask? Please do.Plexith? Plexiiiiith? Plexith, Cetalesemine wishes to know if your D'linmine is at the Gather. She is looking for him, I think.

"Right you are rider!" the master replied with a smile, opening a sturdy looking metal cash box with a complicated looking key from around his neck and slipping the money away. "May it serve you well, and if you ever need it repairing bring it back to me and I'll give you a good price on it!"
As J'nes departed Ingar looked back at I'saak, looking first thoughtful and then almost furtive. "Listen," he said, lowering his voice, "I oughtn't to do this really, takes me below cost... but I'd like to sell one of these to somebody who knows what's gone into them. You're one of the weyrlings aren't you? Well... I suppose you can consider this a late Impression congratulations then, and all my best for the future. Two marks to you, but don't go spreading it around!"

"He was there." Plexith replied as Halith bespoke him. D'lin had gone for the memorial part of the gather but had then retired back to his hut to work on some things before heading back out later in the day. Or at least that was what Plexith recalled being told..come to think of it that had been a while now.
'Mine.' He nudged his rider mentally 'Cetafriend wants to know if you are at the gather.'
'Hmm? Oh..I guess I could be?' D'lin stated, glancing out the window to see that more time had gone by then he intended. Had he made plans to meet Ceta at the gather? Honestly he couldn't recall and that made him feel just a little bit guilty...but ever since returning from his time locked away at Benden he felt like he was playing catch-up with his work, 'yes tell her I'll be there in a few.' He instructed the bronze, pushing the parchment aside and rising to snag his jacket from the back of a chair before hurrying out the door to where Plexith waited.
'We are on our way' Plexith relayed to Halith as his rider came outside. 'Where should I send him once we get there?'
