Carter MillerI grin at Emmi and nodded. It seems after all these years of emotionless life I found a place where there are so many things that I couldn't help but feel emotions. I look back at the mage and said "Just cause your bette at one type of spells doesn't mean you can't learn a little about other spells." I mumble as i looked at the scar that was now near his eyes. His eyes seem to be blind. Which makes me wonder how he got here if he couldn't see. Does he have magic to allow him to know where to go? I ponder this and realized that even if he was blind it's rude of me to stare. "You eyes seem a little odd. Is your sight okay?" i asked with concern in my voice.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Duelists of the Roses CaptainMulti- colored Rose *** Siera and Jakar **** Siera sat watching Jakar and Zack, she knew for a fact that Jakar was holding back. Jakar watch as the Zack used the action to spin himself around and land safely on the ground, he raised an eyebrow slightly at the fact that the boy still looked like he was having fun. At his words Jakar laid his gun-blade against his shoulder, "you want me to stop holding my strength back then fight me with everything you got, You were the one who stated the terms of this battle, then prove it to me. Only then will i consider you the chance of staying with my sister." Siera growled slightly rolling her eyes, she was seriously going to hit her brother across the head the next chance she got.

Samuel Bates Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?" "No, I mean like I couldn't learn about healing spells because I literally couldn't read the books. They didn't have any in Braille," he muttered, giving a slight shrug. Then the boy went on to ask about his sight, and he cracked a grin. "I wouldn't call it 'sight,' exactly," he muttered, sticking his finger in the socket filled with liquid silver, pulling out a sticky strand of the stuff; it glimmered in the light, and a strand of it stretched between his finger and the socket, before the liquid on his finger was suddenly sucked back into his eye. "But it works. As for actual sight, no. I am completely and totally blind. But I can see just fine," he said cryptically, grinning in his bizarre way. "It's all a matter of perception."Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."

Emmi Witch - Demon

Emmi smiled back at Carter, then watched as Sam pulled a string of liquid silver stuff from his eye. Emmi tilted her head cuiriously; how odd. Crossing her leg's Emmi stayed silent as the two of them conversed, listening quietly. Then she remebered about the spell books Carter gave her for ice spells. She softly pulled one out of her purse and opened it, reading through what he had.

"My history class has thousands of books. I'm sure I can find one you read." when I saw the silver I nearly turned pale. That is the most unusual thing I've seen. But it seems to work for him.

Samuel Bates Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?" "I don't have a problem with most spellbooks; generally speaking, they've been used enough that the psychic impressions leftover from the past usage is enough to get a decent feel for it. But it's a lot harder piecing a whole bunch of tiny fragments of psychic impressions together than it is to take one whole one," he muttered, giving a slight shrug. "The books in the library trade hands too quickly and too often to leave anything truly useful for me. The last really good book I got a hold of was this old dusty tome I found in an occult shop a long way from here," he muttered, hand tucking into his robe to pull out a journal-sized book bound in tattered scraps of oddly-colored leather. The scraps of leather had been stitched together crudely, and the binding of the book was honestly bizarre; however, upon close enough investigation, the origins of the book's bindings would become clear enough. The spellbook he held in his hand was bound in patches of human skin. "Someone- probably the author- put an awful lot of time into this beauty. Emotion, too- mostly pain, anger, stuff like that. It's pretty dark stuff in this one, though. Works out well for me, being a necromancer and all... But if you've got a weak heart, or weak stomach, might not want to read too much. Want to borrow it?" He smirked, then even loosed a chuckle as he offered the book to the man.Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."

Carter MillerI looked at the book and noticed that it was human skin. I slightly grinned at it and toke it as he offered it "I'm sure I can handle a little bit of powerful emotions. I tend to be rather good at being level headed." a little too good. I still can't seem to act casual about anything and lose this stone façade I wear. "I might even enjoy learning necromancy. Though with the way I am I might not be suited to bring back the dead" I mumble a little darkly as I thought of bring my brother back and making him relive our mom death just to make him regret jumping off that bridge. I put my stone façade in place to not give my dark thoughts away. It seemed though that he might be able to feel that dark emotion just by the way he talked about those fragments.

Samuel Bates Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?" Sam smirked when Carter mentioned enjoying learning necromancy, and his smirk only grew when he commented on how ill-suited he was to bring back the dead. "That's a common misconception, actually," he said with a shrug, letting his arms drop to his side as his fingers scratched at the well-worn wood of his staff. "We don't really bring the dead back to life; we just reanimate the body. Like a puppet, pulling strings. Actually bringing the dead back to life is a hell of a lot harder, and generally ends... Horribly. Mostly because if you tear a soul out of the afterlife, it generally becomes corrupted and more or less useless..." He put a little emphasis on that part, sensing some sort of dark intention from the boy. He didn't comment on it, however, but continued on his little lecture. "And besides, even if you could successfully bring a soul back from the afterlife, permanently attaching it to a dead body would be nigh impossible. And if you somehow managed to succeed... Well, that's where liches come from, and why they generally tend to suck. Or be freakishly awesome. I'll be honest; one of my life goals may or may not be to become a lich." He chuckled at that; his own quest for immortality and power beyond measure was something most people cringed at the very thought of. However, Carter had grinned at the book bound in human skin and even mentioned enjoyment at the idea of learning the darker arts; becoming a lich might not disgust him as it would some others. As the boy took the book, Sam smirked and tapped the cover. "Oh, by the way. Definitely give Chapter 9 a look. It goes into great detail on the subject of souls... Primarily how to tear them apart, but you might find something more interesting. I've basically memorized the entire book, but once you're done I would like it back. I find the psychic imprint... Comforting, I suppose. Plus, it's just kind of cool," he muttered, grinning sheepishly.Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."

Carter MillerOh yea, I'm going to have to be very careful with my emotions. The thought of tearing a soul apart seemed a little too exciting. When he told me about being a lich I ponder what that must be like. "I can understand wanting to live forever... but that would eventually get old, don't you think. All you can really do is watch as the world changes." I mumble thoughtfully. Gazing at the book and thought that is was reasonable for him to be comfortable with it. I still had my mother's necklace. I looked at Sam and grinned. "I will give it back... I might have too much fun and turn into a madman if I kept it." I said half joking. I really might go mad.. But I'm sure Emmi won't allow that to happen. "Do need anything to tear souls and to bring them back from the afterlife?" I ask with wonder filling my voice.

I wanted to move her hair behind her ear but I also didn't want to disturbed her. I gazed at her with love in my eyes. Love? I love her? I ponder this and concluded that I really did love her. I shifted uneasily and wondered if anyone would hurt her to get to me. If anyone would hurt her like my father hurt my mother. My veins started to chill like ice and turn blue. I remember the teacher telling me to calm down. I remember Emmi's grinning face. Finally I calmed down enough to hopefully escape notice.

Emmi felt him look at her and looked up, her hair covering her blue eyes. She softly smiled at Carter. Funny thing, while reading her mind was somewhere else. It was on him, and how she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. Emmi smiled bigger and bit her bottom lip.

Samuel Bates Friendly Neighborhood Necromancer Life asked Death, "Why do mortals love me so, yet hate and fear you?" As the conversation drew to a halt, Samuel turned his silvery gaze to the battlefield. The physical actions of the men were hidden from him, but he watched his own version of the battle enacted by the energy the men exuded; their auras clashed and wrestled in a climactic swirling of colors. He watched for another moment before sensing an inner turmoil behind him; the boy, Carter, was coming to realize his feelings. Sam felt his confusion fade to a relief which then boiled over into an anticipation of anger, and suspected this whole personal journey was centered on the girl he'd been lovey-dovey with a few minutes ago. The whole scenario was of very little interest to Samuel, who turned back to the fight. After the fighting boy spoke, however, he again lost interest; the way the boy spoke, he was obviously an idiot. That string of words equated to gibberish, and Samuel simply rolled his eyes. "Some people never understand the importance of language. Grammar, spelling, and sentence structure are seriously important if you want anyone to understand what you're saying," he muttered, glancing back to Carter and giving a nod. "Anyway. Like I said, check out Chapter 9 for all your soul-rending needs. I'm gonna go see what these guys have got going on in the library- maybe I can find something I can actually use."Death replied, "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am a painful truth."
