She was tearing up and facing her head toward her hooves so he wouldn’t ever see her tears mask on or not. In her memory. Yes that’s the only place he would be ever once Demoni came back. It wasn’t right and it wasn’t fair. She wanted to keep him with her not lose him in the midst of a demon’s mind. His touch was gentle and despite her strong exterior it was welcome. When he pulled back she followed him so he couldn’t get away. “I don’t want you to go. What can we do so that you won’t just be in my mind and Demoni’s? There has to be some way of keeping you here with me in more than just this time.” She hated fate and personally wished she could rip apart Demoni’s personality so that only Nastu was left there.

Nanatsu didn't expect Adaeze to keep him from moving away. His restraints on his emotions were practically dissolving at the gesture. A wing draped across her back and his side pressed lightly against hers as he nuzzled her neck with his nose. He wanted to stay with her, love her, maybe even raise a family together... The last thought presented an answer to the question Adaeze had proposed, he realized. A piece of himself to stay with Ada? A child. Their child. But he refused to suggest that. If the strong mare came to that conclusion herself, he would agree wholeheartedly, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. Nan couldn't request that of her. "I don't know," he said instead, voice as soft as his affectionate nosing. Maybe they could find a way to simply keep him dominant, prevent Demoni's personality from awakening...

That wing across her back could disappear at any time. She muttered an ungrateful word or two while he nosed her until she finally moved away taking a deep angry sigh. “Nana I don’t wanna just leave you to disappear. We’ll find a way to keep you around. I promise.” Her voice was a growl as determined as she was. Her mind was a mired maze of random thoughts. She plodded along trying to come up with a solution. She didn’t know how to keep Demoni from coming back because it was a mind issue. She had no way to help him in that. So how could she have Nana leave a mark on the world that would be clear for years to come? Wracking her brains for an answer she was swiftly coming up with noting… It wasn’t right and it was beginning to annoy her.

Nan smiled sympathetically. "I know," he replied softly. "We will find a solution together." He gently nudged her cheek, a reassuring smile on his face. "It will be alright," he added, four yellow eyes gazing into Adaeze's. Why couldn't time stop for them, allow them a lifetime of happiness before he was forced to relinquish his freedom to his other self?
He glanced up at the sun before speaking again. "It's almost noon. We should find somewhere out of the sun to rest." From noon until evening was the best time for them to rest; staying out in the heat of the day was dangerous, and it was hottest during that time. Even in the more southern parts of the plains, that heat was likely to be troublesome during those hours. But Nan didn't mind at all. It meant they could rest, think, and talk.

Noon? Well that explained why the heat was worse. That had been something she had learned when she traveled south the first days had been a hard transition. She nudged him to have him lead the way. “Alright. Nana you lead the way.” She tried to smile but it was half hearted at best because she was still busy thinking.
She followed along at a slow trot. “….” She gave a grunt when she had a strange thought. “Hey Nana Demoni has a mate right?” She looked toward him not really sure. She was positive there had been something said like that before. There was the whole family of demons there together so Demoni must have a mate. “If Demoni was gone the mate and children would know of him and keep him alive. We just need to find you a mate and get you to have some foals who know you, that’s you and not Demoni”

Nanatsu nodded and led the way, eventually spotting a rock formation. It wasn't the best source of shade, but it was the closest. It would have to do. "That is correct," he replied to her question about Demoni having a mate. He tilted his head slightly as Adaeze put his silent idea into even better terms. "You make a good point," he replied, though he shuffled a bit nervously as they reached the shade. "But the only person who knows me as me instead of Demoni is you, Ada," he pointed out after an awkward pause.

He had a point. She snorted and thought about it. She made a face that was somewhere between confused and perplexed while she mulled things over. Once in the shade she didn’t sit down as much as flop down with a grunt. She thought back over all her experiences and what things were like. Her mother was as much a dog as she was an azrein and had children before up and leaving them all with their loving father and his bonded. Part of Ada disliked her mother for that and she was determined to be more loyal than her mother was. “Alright then.” Her coarse of commitment was set in her mind at least.

Nanatsu couldn't help smiling in amusement as he watched Ada flop down in the shade. He laid down next to her, letting her think while his own mind tried once again to dream of a life with the amazing mare next to him. His idle fantasies were broken when Adaeze spoke. He blinked, tilting his head as his four yellow eyes fixed on her. "Alright?" he echoed, wanting confirmation as what she was saying 'alright' to.

His word sounded like a question. It was so embarresing. She snorted and flicked her whole head like it should be obvious. “If we don’t have any other females available and we don’t know when you’ll switch so we might not have time to find one… I’ll” She was blushing horribly. “I’ll bear you foals and tell them about you so that you will still live on even if Demoni comes back. But if I do this you have to promise me something.” She looked at him and it would have stuck a charging bear in place out of fear. “you have to fight to come back if Demoni comes back you have to come back and see them all grown up so they can know you themselves.”

Nan blushed as well. "If you're sure," he replied, nudging her gently with his nose. It was followed by his affectionate nuzzling. "I just want you to be happy." Even if he couldn't continue in this dream forever, he wanted to at least preserve the happiness of the one he cared about more than anything, the only person in this world that knew him as Nanatsu. As himself. The promise she demanded of him made him smile. "Of course," he replied softly, pressing his head to hers. "I'd do anything for you," he added quietly before he could stop himself. It was true, but still a bit embarrassing to say aloud...

The nuzzling was making her uncomfortable. She wasn’t used to so much touching. Nana had touched her more than any other male or female ever had. “Y-you’d better keep it.” She growled at him and hoped that perhaps at least for the time he was with her he could be Nana. She would hate to wake and find that in the morning it could be Demoni. That thought was upsetting and terrifying. Still it wasn’t like they knew how much time they would have left together. She was embarrassed but she had a general sense of how things were meant to go. She moved closer to his side and nervously reached out to nose him.

With each passing day, Nanatsu's mood improved. Although they discussed what would happen should Demoni return unexpectedly, most of his talking with Adaeze was happy. He was learning more about this world that he'd only seen bits of, and he was learning more about the beautiful mare that was--more or less--his mate. More than that, he was learning about himself. He could sense the sleeping Demoni, and noticed that attempting to access his other persona's memories would cause him to stir. There were other things, things that called to the sleeping demon, but for the most part, Demoni stayed quiet and Nan was free to do as he pleased.
The vast vegetation of the north fascinated Nan once they passed out of the desert and into the plains. It was beautiful and vibrant, and food was much easier to obtain. They were also able to shift out of their odd sleeping and traveling schedule, now that they didn't have the desert sun beating down on them. It was still hot, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the desert had been.
After a brief lapse of silence in their most recent conversation, Nan suddenly thought of something. "Names," he blurted out suddenly, turning to look at Adaeze. "We should begin thinking of names." If something did happen to awaken Demoni abruptly before the children were born, they'd want to have some names planned, just in case. At least one or two.

Her mask was back on her face which made Ada glad because his comment made her blush furiously. She had truly enjoyed traveling with Nana and their time together had made her start to forget that he was fragment of Demoni. Names for their children not only made what she had agreed to feel more real but also reminded her of the purpose. Yes names would be good in case.. No she was not going to think about that now. It was better to think of other things. “each of us should come up with three names we like or think are good.” She thought long and hard as the plains grass tickled her legs. Strangely enough it made her think of her promise which was pointless as the other female was gone and could be anywhere. Pulling her mind back she focused again on the task at hand. She was asking for his children so perhaps. “Abeni.” She knew the children would be a gift and yet .. different. She took a breath and pulled out two other names that where about her mind though not sure if they would fit. “Abiola and… Ngozi?” She tilted her head to listen to what he thought of the names she had come up with so far. In truth she wanted to name one Nanatsu flat out but thought that Nana might feel that was taking things a step to far since he wasn’t really dying just.. going away for a bit. She chewed the inside of her cheek behind her mask hoping he could keep his word to her.

Nanatsu smiled. "That's a good idea," he replied. He listened to the names, his smile widening slightly with each one. "I think those are wonderful names," he told her, four eyes looking at the masked mare fondly. These children deserved names that matched their importance, and the meanings of the ones Adaeze had chosen definitely reflected that. Now for his own suggestions... "Hmm... Monifa, Ayodele, and..." He paused, tilting his head as he inspected Adaeze. Even with the mask, Nan was starting to pick up the subtle habits Ada had when she was feeling a certain way. She seemed a little stiff at the moment, so he nudged her gently. "Are you alright?" he asked softly. If there was something troubling her that he could help with, he wanted to know.

The names he picked were wonderful as well. She nodded barely. “yes. You just make certain that you come back to see them.” Her voice had a bit of a growl to it that was stronger than normal to hide her tight throat. She moved closer to him and didn’t care if it was warm or cold she just wanted to be next to him for a while longer. His scent was that of Demoni’s but she didn’t’ care she was going to memorize all of him that she could. “Could you take my mask off once more?” She wanted to be able to rub up against him and the mask would get in the way.
