"Dammit..." He was hurt pretty bad himself, but not to that extent. Unfortunately, the Death Dragon would yet to give into death itself. With it's last breath, it leaned it's head to Lilith and expelled it's flames.

Lloyd had lost his sword after he was thrown, but he had to protect her. He dashed towards Lilith, once in front of her the Blood Knight lifted a shield of blood in front of him to protect her from it's flames. That same shield was then transformed into a spear which he threw into it's heart, silencing it for good.

It's body slowly began to fade away into a black mist, which seeped into Lloyd's armor. "What is this sorcery?!" He fell to his knees, it was being consumed by the curse, empowering it. The bloodlust wanted full control over him, but he wouldn't let it take him.

Despite the pain that crippled her, Lilith leaned forwards to grab ahold of Lloyd's ankle. Although she wasn't as full strength and couldn't cast spells properly she could still channel energy.

Muttered a prayer through clenched teeth, a holy light began to spreed up Lloyd's body to combat the black mist attempting to envelop him.

Lloyd took a knee, concentrating keeping his will in control. His body turned around on it's own, kicking Lilith off of him and mounting her. It created a dagger of blood from her own open wounds to kill her.

"I'm not, letting you, control me!"

Lloyd was doing everything in his power let go of the dagger, or at least remove it's bladed form. He wasn't sure if he could stop it...

Hissing in pain as her mangled body was violently twisted, Lilith stared in shock as she noticed Lloyd's pitch black eyes. There was little she could do to defend herself given her injuries, but using her one good arm she grasped Lloyd's wrist and once the movement of the dagger had halted/slowed, blasted the black mist with another burst of holy energy.

The light of her holy magic pierced through the darkness. It evaporated and disappeared from sight. With it, so did it's hold on Lloyd, his eyes returned to their normal red color. He gasped for and released the dagger from his grip, the blood returning to it's original owner.

"This isn't exactly how I imagined being on top of you." He said was a weary smile and rolled off of her. After taking a moment to catch his breath, he looked for cloth to wrap her broken arm in.

"I'm sorry I can't heal it for you either." He said as he wrapped up her arm. At the moment, Lilith was covering for him in the temple. Given that he never received proper training for holy magic.

"We passed... small hamlet on... our way here." Lilith said through her teeth. "They should be able... to help bind it better. They... might even have... proper medic if... lucky."

Unfortunately with her leg bent the way it was, Lilith would be unable to ride her horse, even if she got it into a split of some sort.

Lloyd nodded is head and searched for two bones and more cloth for a makeshift splint for a leg. "Save your strength, you will need it for the trip."

With the way her leg looked, he was going to have to carry her all the way there on his horse. After collecting their weapons, the blood knight lifted her in his arm, carrying her to the horses.

He tied the two steeds to each other and began on their journey. "I'm sorry I nearly killed you there, I think it knew how I feel about you. And well, you already know my story."

Despite being in great pain from her injuries Lilith found the strength to speak again.

"Not your fault." Lilith replied, "The dark magic... that animated the creature simply went... looking for a new host and... you were the next most logical choice."

"It's always my fault, Lilith. You know that." He gave her a small smile and lifted her onto his horse. After climbing on himself, he made sure he was holding her comfortably and firmly before setting the horse off to their destination.

Though he was joking, that was kinda true. Things tend to be his own fault just for living. Lloyd only wished to no longer harm her. But being with him would bring that sort of trouble with him.

The trip back to the small hamlet was uneventful at best, the pair making swift progress across the open plains although Lilith was unconscious for most of it. She claimed to only be sleeping but being a paladin, she was terrible at lying.

While no magical aid could be found in the town, a few townsfolk with medical know-how volunteered their services to help the injured paladin and her burnt squire.

Lloyd was taken aside by one of the volunteers' daughters and had large amounts of anti-burn cream applied to his exposed skin, which had gotten the worse of the burns.

Lilith, on the other hand, was carried into the tavern and placed on a clean bed. Once removed of her armor, a task made all that much more difficult by the nature of the injuries, her caretakers set the bones of her arm back in place, properly splinted her leg, and were in the process of making a plaster cast for her shattered arm.

Lloyd thought nothing of her unconsciousness, one way or another she was resting wasn't she? At least the townsfolk were helpful, probably because she was a paladin. They even helped him with his burns.

He wanted to go back to her though, and eventually he did once they got her to a room in a tavern. They got him a room next to hers, but he stayed with her instead.

The blood knight would sit by her bed and hold her uninjured hand till she woke up. He wondered if he should really drag her into this fate of his.

While she was unconscious for much of evening and late into the night, Lilith was aware of someone or something holding her uninjured hand. At times she thought it to be her god preparing to pull her spirit from her body while other times it was just a black blur.

The hour was late by time Lilith finally regained control of her senses, the pre-dawn sun lighting up the backside of some hills near the hamlet. Feeling something in her grasp, she squeezed it just to be sure it was real.

Lloyd was half asleep himself, but he managed to yield to her request and squeezed her hand back in response. A yawn escaped him, he rubbed his eyes and looked at Lilith.

"You're still here with the living, so just rest."

From there, Eric stopped reading and sighed. He curled up next to Roxanne and laid his head on her ample bosom, hearing the rhythm of her heartbeat. "The more I read this, the more i'm lost to this. And yet, I get this strange feeling in my heart."

"Oh really, and what feeling is that?" Roxanne asked, playfully ruffling the knight's hair while he had his head planted atop her breasts.

"What confuses you? Perhaps mommy Roxanne can try to explain things for you..." She added playfully.

"Har har." He knew she was teasing him, but if it let him stay on such comfortable pillows, he'd take the verbal abuse. "I just feel connected to them somehow. I wonder if this book is the only way I would have heard of this story."
