Halcyon could smell the smoke strongly with his keen eladrin senses ((with his keen eladrin sense can he smell, perhaps faintly, the very recently familiar smell of burning flesh?)) "I want to scout this out."

"You two check things out. I'll stay with the children until you say it is safe. For their sake I hope my thoughts are wrong." he said. Ganner had said that they were probably having a bonfire for celebration, but the village did not know when would be returning so it was unlikely. He did not want to endanger the children by going with them so he hoped that Ganner and Halcyon would be able to take care of things without him. Still he wished to give them aid.
"May Moridin give you strength." he said while giving them a blessing. "Good luck."

"Alright Ganner. Let's go scout ahead and see if we can find out what's going on with the village." With that he began moving through the trees, off the road so as to gain some form of cover, while keeping a sharp eye out for movement or the sound of goblins speaking. "how are you doing for spells? We may have a lot more fighting ahead of us yet."

"I'm good on spells yet. Only two down so far." Ganner said as he shadowed Halcyon from a distance. Ganner was not able to move quite as quickly as Halcyon without making a lot of noise so he simply took his time, allowing his ally to pull ahead a bit. Halcyon was obviously the more stealthy of the two and if they should run into trouble it would be to Ganner's advantage if his comrade was already in position to aid him. Likewise if Halcyon stumbled or something Ganner would be able to charge in after him.

Leon moved briskly through the trees, stepping carefully to avoid twigs, leaves and moss. He wanted to be tracked even less than he wanted to be heard right now. Even goblins could be deadly if they caught him unaware.

As the two moved closer to the village, they would see that two of the homes were set ablaze. People were screaming to put out the fire for one of them stored the seeds for the next harvest. The villagers were bringing several pails of water to put the fire out while some were pulling out sacks of seeds out of the storage house.
While the villagers were busy with tending the fire, 10 goblins could be seen ransacking other homes and taking livestock. One of villagers happened to see the group and began alerting the others. Armed with their farm tools they began to engage the goblins who in turn began to attack while several began leaving with their goods.

Oh, hell no. Ganner drew his sword and charged across the distance at the havoc wreaking goblins. "Hey! You little bastards! Right here, bring it!" Ganner shouted as he ran towards the goblins.
((Guah... Short post.))

The goblins, busy with their loot did not notice Ganner until he had moved much closer. One of the goblins began yelling in their language that they had been spotted. They began to hasten their speed in emptying the shack. From within the shack, there was a loud growl. The sound of items breaking and wood overturned as seed fell to the floor could be heard.

Leon threw off all pretense of stealth, drew both daggers and advanced on the goblins with malice burning in his eyes. How DARE they kidnap the village's children and ransack and burn the village!? The crops!? Leon was going to make them pay. Dearly.

((I'll let you guys take over the fight. If you go inside you will find 2 hobgoblins trashing the place. They are armed with clubs and shields while wearing tattered leather armor. Goblins are wearing just tattered shirts))

Ganner ran in at the goblins, a couple of which braced spears against his charge. Ganner quickly drew a rune in the air and mumbled a command and cast dancing lights directly in front of the goblins. The little creatures shrieked at the sudden appearance of the bobbing spheres of light. Ganner, however, didn't even slow. Ganner's charge ended with him adjacent to a pair of goblins. A single swipe of his sword took the head directly from the shoulders of one. Ganner stepped into his swing, reversed direction, and stabbed at the second. The goblin recovered enough at the last second to try to dodge. The thrust caught it in the side of the torso instead of the center of the chest, where Ganner had been aiming. Ganner simply tore his sword free through the goblins ribs and left it bleeding on the ground as he stalked in after his next victims.

Leon Could see one of the Goblins through the open window of a home harassing an unarmed villager. He sprinted over and vaulted through the window catching the goblin in the back of the neck with his off hand dagger as he landed inside. He could see two more goblins inside as he slid his dagger free. He positioned himself between them and the villager with a careful side step, picked up a cover and leveled his dark gaze at them. "you want to fight someone? Let's dance."
One of the goblins charged him with a crude spear. He kicked the spear to the side then followed up with a side kick to it's ugly face, sending it flying onto it's back stunned and disarmed. The other goblin pulled a rusty short sword and advanced somewhat carefully. "you think you tuff elf? Me kill you!" It made three quick wild swings at Leon. He dodged back once, then a second time. One the third he caught the timing and caught the goblin's sword hand with his off hand and followed up with a stab to the chest from ember's kiss. He continued into a spin and drove the nasty creature into the ground. He slid his dagger out and walked over to the other goblin who had begun to recover. "No, NOO!!!" it shrieked. He gave it a swift kick to the floating ribs then bent down, grasped it by the chin and the back of it's head and twisted quickly. A sickening pop could be head as the goblin's neck snapped.
He got up and turned to the villager. "get to safety. Now." Then he turned and walked out the door to find his next targets.

Ganner suddenly found himself quite outnumbered. Four goblins were working together to try and get at him with their crude spears. Fortunately they weren't smart enough to try to close in on him and stood all together instead. Ganner dodged and twisted and parried, he took a couple of shots that deflected off of his armor, and he had a graze on one of his thighs that he'd have to have Alister look at if he survived the day. The damn goblins weren't making much progress against him even with their superior numbers and range, the real problem was that avoiding their assault was preventing Ganner from going on the offensive. Those simple spears were keeping him at enough of a distance that he couldn't attack back and he knew he couldn't keep up this dance all day. Ganner darted back a step, throwing the goblins out of line as some stayed where they were and others stepped forward to follow after him. Ganner deflected a clumsy spear thrust and quickly drew a rune with his left hand while muttering a command under his breath. "Alright, let's to this!" Ganner shouted at the goblins. Ganner stepped directly into their midst. Spears thrust from multiple directions. Ganner didn't even bother to try to dodge or deflect them. Instead he attacked. Light flashed as the spears bounced off of his Mage Armor, except for the one that stabbed him in the bicep of his left arm. Ganner flinched but didn't slow, and thrust his sword through the chest of one of the goblins. He withdrew his sword as he stepped back and drew a rune with his left hand, flinging blood across the ground as he did. Ganner darted in underneath another spear thrust and slammed his left hand into the chest of another goblin. The goblin began to scream as its tattered armor sizzled and burned away, and then so did the flesh underneath as the acidic power of Ganner's Corrosive Touch ate into it. Ganner spun about and stepped back, whirling his sword around him to threaten off the remaining goblins. He needn't have bothered. The other two goblins that had been attacking him had fallen back several steps. It would seem that after watching two of their fellows dispatched in such short order that they were being a little bit more wary. "Come on, you little bastards!" Ganner called at them. "Let's see what you've got."

When Leon stepped out he saw a young man with a pitchfork up against a wall holding off a lone goblin with a spear. Behind him, his young wife and baby. The sandy haired man look frightened beyond all measure, but held his resolve. Leon began walking quietly toward them. The goblin would dance around looking for an opening and occasionally jab at the young man who would dodge and then fly a wild jab of his own with the pitchfork. The man was too focused on fighting the goblin to notice Leon and likewise, the goblin had his attention too much on the young man. It was easy to simply walk up behind, grab the goblin, by habit, around the mouth and slit it's throat. He then followed up with a quick jab to each kidney to allow it to bleed out faster, and let go and let it slump to the ground, writhing and bleeding and gurgling.
The young woman turned her head and closed her eyes, clearly disgusted at the sight and the young man even seemed to pale a bit. "Good work." Leon said. "You're safe now." The young man muttered an astonished "Thanks" as he watched the leather clad elven man with the black tatoo over his eyes walk away. Leon knew he was being wreckless letting himself be seen by so many people who would remember him so well, but he felt what he was doing was right and he always had a bad habit of putting his conscience ahead of tactics. Besides, if anyone comes looking for him here, they'll pay the villagers for information and that was gold they would need desperately to make it through the coming winter.
Leon Pressed on, scanning the area. He spotted his friend Ganner tangling with several Goblins. Two were down, but there were two left and he looked a little overwhelmed. Leon knew he couldn't get over before they struck again, but he could distract them as he moved. He shouted out to them in goblin "Hey! Weakling! Useless!" And another insult that roughly translated to "one who does not contribute in any meaningful way." The last should have been enough to get their attention for a moment at least.
Leon walked past a shed. He was so focused on what was going on in front of him that he completely missed the big meaty hobgoblin fist flying at him from inside the shed until it had connected with his face, at which point he was made painfully aware of it as he lay sprawled out on the ground. His vision blurred for a second and he could feel a hot rush of blood streaming down the right side of his face. He gave his head a shake to clear his vision just in time to see the short sword stabbing down at him and roll out of the way. He continued his roll and came to his feet facing two larger hobgoblins. He'd have to worry about Ganner later.

The two goblins that Ganner was fighting both glanced back to see who was shouting at them as Halcyon ran by down the street. Ganner took that opportunity to step in and kick one of them square in the chest. Before it had even hit the ground Ganner's sword took the other distracted goblin right in the throat. That goblin went down gurgling and spraying blood, half strangling itself trying to hold its slashed throat together. Ganner stepped forward and then dodged to one side, deflecting the spear thrust from the first goblin off of his mage armor. Ganner's sword darted in catching the goblin across the forearm as his left hand darted out. Ganner grabbed hold of the extended spear, yanked it out of the goblin's now weakened grasp, spun it around, and plunged it into the goblin's stomach. Ganner turned away from the strewn bodies around him and glanced around. His quick count as he had been running up was ten. He'd already taken out four, but unless Halcyon had taken out the other six there were still goblins about. Ganner took off the way he had seen Halcyon running, thinking that where the elf went trouble was probably nearby.
