The mouth opened or rather dropped down as it moved. Both long wings were spread forward like the claws of a mantis. They worked by the same theory too.
First spring forward to impale a person on the curved arch. A quick flick of the wing later and the person - living or dead - found their way into Null's mouth. Those massive yellow stained teeth soon went to work on chewing greedily at the prize.
It did not even seem to care about the arm dangling from its teeth by a piece of the man's jacket. Eventually the thing fell off as another person was plucked up and then another. Both wings were hard at work spearing all within reach.
People could run from it - the creature did not move all that fast in a walk - but those who hid were not so lucky. It seemed to...sniff them out with two verticle holes running down its charcoal 'face' or 'body' - if there was even any seperatation. By look its nose was located on its chest.
And then those 'spears' went to work.

Chomp.
Scream.
The gnashing of teeth was strong in this neighborhood. Sure - most people had already gotten off the streets. Those facinated by this had taken to the highest windows they could reach. Quick lesson to the unfortunates who stayed on the ground level - you can be reached there. After the third person was plucked out of the window and deposited people moved up.
Null - unfortunately - did not really want to climb after them. Nor did it want to fly. That was too much work for so little a prize. For the longest it had been content to sit on its rump with both stubby legs thrown out comfortable. If kids came in egg shape with dinosaur feet, deformed arms, and bat wings, this would totally be the most 'kawaii' thing ever.
If your into kids who use a navy blue convertable as a chew toy...in which case your obviously a sick person.
Once the car was gone - vanished into that suprizingly endless appitite - the tiny creature pushed up to a stand. Not with its arms which were by all purpose useless. Instead it pushed off with those wings, even moving down the street with them, until at last both flat feet hit ground.
"Boring." Looked south. "Fun." And that was pretty much all the thought that went into that one as it started off. The trip could take awhile though...it did not move all that fast.
