Arachnae lovingly nipped at her mate, guiding him beside her as she walked towards home. Her skin had began to crawl in the middle of the night, knowing that she was so close... She needed to see her sister... The last she had seen, her sister was still devestated by the loss of her children, and she had vowed to go south to find them.. And well.. She had.. Bruin and Nascien anyways.. who had headed north and were fine and healthy and great... In fact, she knew something about Bruin having mated, though she hadn't met the female yet.

D'von smiled and walked quietly by her side, trying to suppress the anxiety growing in him as he remembered where they were going--and who they were about to meet. The protective father that could--despite Nae's description of him being sweet and caring--try to kill him on sight. Or maybe just after he found out who D'von was.
Maybe he'd get lucky and it would go over just fine, but he wasn't really an optimist about this sort of thing.

Jaro just continued walking. "You're worrying again Jara. Just put it out of your mind for now as we focus on patrol."
Jara nodded to her father. "Its just difficult sometimes Daddy. After all this time I just want my children back with me."
Jaromir stopped, quickly getting in front of his daughter as he spotted two figures in the distance. He looked quickly at Jara, his eyes saying all he needed as the two of them were at a run now, both looking as menacing as possible. And that was when Jara saw Arachnae.
"NAE!" She shouted as she zoomed past her father but skid to a stop when she noticed the azrein she was with. She had heard about this one and his siblings and their vicious mother. "Arachnae. Who is this and why is he here?
Jaro had caught up now and put himself between Jara and Nae and the stranger.

Nae was happy to see her sister, until she saw the scared look in her father and sister's eyes. She looked at D'von, a silent plea for him to stay back until she talked to them, before she went and nuzzled her sister. "Sissy, Daddy. This is D'von... He's.. well he's my mate. And... Well yeah..." She said, about to say that she was expecting but deciding that, under the circumstances, that could wait until later. She looked back at D'von and gave him a reassuring smile. "Before you say anything.. He's really not as bad as you think... Actually.. He's really nice to me.. and saved me from Ruin.... and several other Sixers..." Her pink eyes flickered between her sister and her father, hoping they would atleast give him a chance.

D'von nodded to the silent plea, taking a few steps backwards. He was alright until Jaromir put himself between him and Nae. The movement sent his brain on one of those worrying tangents that came with being a strategist. What if Jaromir decided that he wasn't welcome there? What would happen to Nae? What would happen if she had to choose between him and her family?
Then she gave him that reassuring smile and his doubts evaporated. He smiled back, but stayed where he was; the last thing he needed to do was make a wrong move and wind up in a hostile situation. Nae would let him know when it was alright to rejoin her.

Jara shook her head slightly. If there was something she had learned its that no one is safe from Ruin.. She took a few steps back from her sister and the evil male. Her head still shaking she turned and walked away from her sister and her 'mate'. He could 'save' her sister from ruin but not go back for her two children who were taken from birth? Jara's vision and understanding was clouded with her hatred of evil aligned azrein, no matter what.
Jaromir looked at the stallion with his judging eyes, as if he could see into his soul. "How did he save you from Ruin, dear? How do you know it's not part of his plan?" His eyes never left D'von's.

Arachnae sighed. She should not have to explain herself or her heart, which she didn't even understand so how could they(?), to her family. They should accept it implicitly like they had accepted Huel... However, she could see her father's point.. Huel had not had a bad past like his brother and D'von did, and also.. her family had not been struck with tragedy yet. "Daddy... I know because my heart belongs to him, as his belongs to me... I feel it in my bones. He treats me well, Daddy... and I know he loves me and I know it is not one of Ruin's plots, because Ruin would have hurt me had D'von not helped him. I also know he loves me, because he did not have any reason to stay with me after... we first met.. and he had no reason to stay with me when I told him that we would be having foals. It is not something I can put into words, Daddy... Jara.. You'll just have to trust me and my heart... I have not felt this way towards any before... not Paimon who asked me to lifemate him... D'von is it, for me, and it took me going down to the South to check on Bruin and Nascien and almost getting killed to find him..." She said, giving them as much information as she could without revealing her little reckless and mindless tryst with the demon in the south which actually led to her meeting D'von.

It took all of D'von's energy and concentration to keep himself rooted to that spot. The suggestion that he was helping Ruin in some nefarious plan made his blood boil. Yes, he was savage, but he wasn't a heartless demon. Was it really hard to believe that he was willing to break the social norms to be with Nae? He kept his eyes locked with Jaromir's until some discomfort on his side caused him to look down. He sighed as he realized the source; when he'd tensed at the accusation of assisting Ruin, the large wound he'd received from Ruin's saddle impaling his side had reopened once again. Even so, he remained still and returned his gaze to Jaromir's.
Well, for a moment; his gaze was stolen by Arachnae as she poured out her feelings. This was torture. He could all but feel Nae's distress as she tried to explain herself to her father. He dug his hooves into the ground in front of him, unsuccessfully attempting to keep the worry off of his face. This couldn't be healthy. Did her father and sister not see the same thing he saw? His mind was sending off little red warning flags all over the place. Nae was pregnant; they were already mates, and her family was (rather crudely) questioning her choices. If they rejected her... what would happen to her? He couldn't protect her from that, dammit! And they just had to separate D'von from her while they performed their little interrogation. How was he supposed to support her from over here?
Torture. Complete torture. He was starting to see why some northerners ended up settling in the south--despite the desert climate and the violence. If this was what happened every time a stallion from a bad background tried to turn his life around, who could succeed?

Jaromir listened to his daughter's explanation quietly and stoically. His eyes always on the male, taking in his appearance which was when he noticed the rather large wound on his side. All would implicate that this was true, the male's obvious hate of being away from his mate added to the probability of it. Jaro had just learned to be so careful with outsiders and never relaxed a moment on guard duty after two of their own were taken. After Nae said she was pregnant, it made sense why she was so huffy. A rare soft smile graced them as his eyes softened. "You both know I went through a lot to find Michiko, and I wish I could say she was your mother but you both know she's not you biological mother." He spared one look for Jara, knowing she was understanding where he was going with it. "You are welcome here, D'von, but understand not everyone, will be happy with your presence here. I will do what I can." His eyes still on D'von. He couldn't deny this to Arachnae, she had finally chosen and they must accept that, he was just doing his duty to protect his family.
Jara shook her head behind her father, she was not as ready to trust any outsiders. "No one is safe from Ruin. He will come back..." This male would have to prove himself time and time again before Jara would trust him. She was happy that her sister would be having children of her own, she knew how much she adored Bruin and Nascien. Her eyes were filled with the same sadness that never left. She feared now for her sister too, not only because of the male, but because of the children she would bare. Ruin could strike again, finding the perfect way to get back at them for the male defeating him but it would be worse than before.

Arachnae nodded at her father, tears finally falling from her face as she nuzzled her father, and then went to her sister. "Sissy... We are gonna be safe from Ruin. I promise... And hey" She nuzzled her sister. "Bruin just got home and he has some news for you... he's with Huel.. and I believe that Nascien and Nina are coming home soon too. They're all gonna be home soon." She rubbed up against her sister. "And hey.. D'von is fire-proof.. Ruin ran like a little baby away from him..." She looked back at D'von, unsure of what to say or do anymore, but just wanting her family to accept and be happy for her and her new mate.

D'von forced his gaze back to Jaromir as he spoke, relaxing slightly at the stallion's words. "I understand, sir." He turned as if to go to Nae's side, but she'd gone over to her sister. He forced himself to withdraw the foot he'd just stepped forward with, far too aware that he wasn't welcome around Jara. Interrupting their sisterly moment would be a rash--and stupid--move. When Nae looked back at him, he smiled encouragingly at her. Yes, this was definitely a new form of torture. He wanted so badly to go to her side, but until there was some kind of truce, he doubted he'd be able to move from that spot.

Jara couldn't say much as she listened to her sister. So her children were coming home? "But what of Audro? And where is Bruin. I need to see him. HUEL!" She shouted. Now searching for her mate, the stranger now forgotten. Her father could take care of him.
Jaromir noticed the look of pain on the other male. "Nae, dear, you should get his wound attended to again, as well as some rest for the both of you." Cool calculating eyes watched the three of them.

Huel looked up in surprise at his mate's call for Bruin and grinned grimly at his son. "That would be your mother. Nae must have told her you were home. Lets go." Both of them set off towards Jara, heading towards the voice.
Bruin anxiously looked back behind him, towards the area he had hid Ante. His father didn't even know about the mare yet.. Only Aunt Nae and her new mate knew. As they approached, he eyed D'von cautiously before going to his mother and nuzzling her warmly. "Mom." He said simply.
Nae nodded to her father and turned to go back to D'von, now that he wasn't blocked from her, and nuzzled him gently. "You need to lay down and let that close back up..." She said softly, concern etched in her features.

D'von didn't so much as give Bruin a bad look when he and Huel reappeared; his focus was still locked on his mate. He nuzzled Nae back and obeyed, laying down as he spoke. "It's not a bad crack; it should seal up soon," he reassured her. It was times like this he was glad he was durable; others would've died from his wounds. But then again, others wouldn't have been so reckless as to challenge Ruin. Either way, he was alive and healing well, other than the one that had cracked. But even that one's edges were slowly shrinking, despite the cracks in the middle that developed if he got too tense. He just needed to stay calm and relax, and he'd heal just fine.
