She nodded in response, contented now more then ever with the sounds of battle raging on around them. She was falling into a familiar rhythm of strikes and dodges, moving with Shik at her side, somehow knowing just where he would move and react so that she could use it to her advantage when attacking the hunter in front of them. The hunter was good though, her movements swift even while she was hopelessly outnumbered. She must have been nearing defeat now, however. No human could withstand this, not even a hunter, forever.
Her blade whistled through the air as she struck again, taking her own blows as they came.
"Shall we see who draws it first? Which of us manages to land the finishing blow that sends her life force spilling out of her upon the ground?" Her laugh was almost a cackle, though her eyes tightened a bit after that last hit had landed against her. But she would show no weakness, not now, not while fighting something so lowly and pathetic as a human. Not while surrounded by enemies or by those who would see her weakness and jump at the opportunity to strike her down.
"We're okay," She assured AJ when he dropped by to check on them, offering him a small smile, "Just--Sophie!"
She flinched in shock when the ghoul went running for the battlefield, and she paused only to shoot Mei a quick, apologetic look before darting after her, the end of her tail bristled in alarm. You weren't supposed to let her get caught up in this! She berated herself, her mental voice a worried hiss. As she ran across the field, the baku briefly caught sight of Shun, and she remembered when he had said about how she should stay out of the battle as well--something about not bloodying her hands. Truth to be told, fighting was the last thing she wanted to do right now, but she couldn't just stand by at this point.
Xiu chose to stay close to Sophie, wedging herself between the zombie ghoul and the hunter as she brought her leg up and around, driving it into the latter's gut. They retaliated by swinging their weapon out, the sickle catching and grazing her shoulder.
Although she let out a little grimace of pain, she did not move from her spot, standing with her legs apart, knees bent, and gloved fists raised. "Sorry." It was a murmured apology to Alex, who she cast a quick, worried look at. Was he...was he okay? Those injuries...
In the back of her mind, she could hear something whisper to her, but it was too quiet to make out for now.

And then he tried...he tried to attack her again, driving his claws forward, this time he managed to slice the Hunter, a glancing blow across the shoulder, and he could see her look of fierce determination, a stubbornness as virulent as his own. Sharra took the moment of reprieve that Mort had given him, as he blocked the majority of the hunter's next blow, as she tried to take advantage of the wound that she had dealt the Nergal beforehand. "Nnn..." He ran a hand through dampened strands of blond, simmering green eyes focusing on the zomboil's form. "Mayhap...but I..." There was a rise of emotion within the demon, anger, despair, lost faces arising within a sea of fog. "...I know what they can do too. I know what they can do to us. They chose this war."
There was wisdom in Mort's words, however, that Sharra should take a step back. Taking a deep breath in, he surveyed those around him. Freya...Jack help her, looked as though she had just taken the grand tour of hell. Not precisely battle-ready, but the look in her eyes rather frightened him, simply because it reminded him how he'd felt...in the depths of the fog, needing something, anything... And he'd wanted to throw himself into battle then too. Jack, they were going to have to keep an eye on the ghouls around here.
A pang of concern flitted across his features as Sophie threw in her lot with them. Damn, but the little zombie ghoul had spunk. It was clear she was related to Alex, for all that he was getting his fine, undead a** handed to him at current.
Shaheen's insane mirth seemed to jolt the Nergal back to some version of reality, and he took a shuddering breath. "But...yes...I think...I think we should probably look out for the others." Some of them more than others, but he knew full well that Mort and those like-minded could pick up what he meant. His eyes flicked to the bloodthirsty tanned lass, and he rather prayed he would never sink that far. He'd no issue with killing Hunters, they did worse than slaughter Halloweeners...but there was a certain element of humanity, odd as that was, that needed tending to.
Speaking of losing a bit of humanity. "Freya...you going to be a'right...?" He arched a brow, leaving the question hanging in midair as he stood defensively, alert for further Hunter attacks, though he wasn't doing anything more to warrant the attention of the flagging sickle-wielder.
And now Xiu was fighting, though Sharra knew her reasons. The baku simply kept rising in his opinions of her.

"They'd come anyway," Aymet continued, to fill the silence. To reassure himself he was on the right path, and that she was wrong, she was misguided, she didn't understand. His face was an expressionless mask of bone. "Professor Red's class. The Defenders, SCREAM, DETH. They didn't even know what hunters were. Most of them didn't even fight. Not a threat at all. Were they spared?"
Of course not.
"I can't stop now, Lizzy. I've seen what they're capable of. What they do to us." The explosion that decimated the islands of the horsemen would never be forgotten. And visions of a world where hunters had taken over completely came to mind as well. They tore up Halloween piece by piece, leaving nothing but a void in its wake. In time, even that would be gone, and there would be nothing. Everyone wanted more than they would ever admit to, but Aymet had seen their endgame, and he couldn't allow it. "The day we stop fighting back is the day we lose everything."
Alexander had taken two steps back to get himself out of reach of the hunter, mentally chastising himself for job badly done many times over. Who actually managed to get beat up this badly without managing to land even one single hit? He held nothing but contempt for hunters, for all hunters. It grated on him even more to know that they could simply toss him around like nothing more then a mere rag doll, that he was still that weak compared to them, even now that he was in his third year, even after all of the strength he had developed, even after all that he had learned.
It just wasn't enough. How could he hope to save his friends from them if he couldn't even do this?
The zomboil was just beginning to straighten when he heard Xiu's voice shouting out his sisters name. Eye widening in alarm, he turned to make sure that they were still okay, only to catch sight of a flash of green as Sophie bounded by him in speeds he didn't even know she had been capable of, her fist flying out towards the hunter, connecting solidly. He felt a flash of pride deep inside, though at the same time it was almost a horrifying sight. She didn't even know what she was fighting, didn't know that this human wielded a weapon that was once a denizen of Halloween. She was just doing this for him, even after he had told her she needed to stay back. This was not a fight she should be involved in!
She was saying something to him, but he was still partially in shock at her actions so it took a moment to sink in. Yell at her? At the moment all he wanted to do was pick her up and carry her back through that portal to the school, and hold her there until this was all over. He should have never come here, not when he knew she would likely follow. This was all on him. How could he really blame her?
And then Xiu was there too, and it was just too much for him. His head was spinning. There was a smell on the air, of blood and death, strong and cloying. Those smells were always exciting to a zombie, or at least, they always were to Alex. He breathed the scent in deep, letting it overcome him, letting it feed into his natural instincts. Humans. Nothing more then food. Fleshy, warm bags of walking meat. His upper lip curled back from his teeth, his arms spread out to his sides, his fingers curving slightly into claws. Xiu's apology fell on deaf ears. There was nothing left now but the hunger, the need, the anger that had built up inside of him and needed a vessel for release. He lunged forward at the hunter, snarling wordlessly, throwing himself into her and grabbing a hold of flesh, digging his fingers in, tearing at what he could, teeth snapping in the air as she managed to hold him back and knock him to the side.
But he just sprang back up to his feet, battered but no less hungry.
After AJ got a reply from Xiu, Sophie suddenly ran away. Poor Xiu. "Let's go, shall we?" He asked Mei after the baku darted away. They arrived and found a hunter being attacked by a group of students. Well, there were Alex, Sophie and the boil he didn't get his name. He was kinda surprised and tried to kick the hunter but the human used her sickle to stop him.

Freya smiled weakly at Sharra, her soft shuffle heading towards him. He looked pretty beaten down himself, but the fight was still in him, she could tell. She shook her head very softly, but her smile remained. "Nope." She didn't need to lie to the boil, just as Mort didn't lie to her. None of them were okay, right now. Not her, not Mort, maybe not even Bella, from the way she acted. They were very, very far away from okay.
"Watch yehrself. Don't worries about me." She lifted a hand out of her thick coat, pointing towards the Mist hunter, to make sure he kept his eyes on her - when another Mist Hunter, a scruffy male wielding double pistols, used one of them to pistol whip her right across the head, knocking her down into the ground.
Mist Hunters were just asking for it, lately.

Lizzy paused, Aymet's words causing her to stumble mentally; he made sense. She had those thoughts before, and she knew that the hunters weren't the type of people to advocate for peace... But she didn't want to be the same type of people they were. She thought that they were better than that.
"Most humans don't even believe that the horsemen - and Halloween - are real," She replied, almost like she was rephrasing Aymet's words; she knew that the horsemen killed more than just hunters for Fear. The conquest horseman she spoke to some time ago considered killing humans to be the norm, something they all grew up with, "Most of them don't even fight. Not a threat at all. Were they spared?"
Probably not. She can't say for sure, since she had never seen a horseman killing a non-hunter human before, but from what she had heard? Of course not.
"I do not agree with what the hunters did. Genocide? That was wrong. Ironically inhumane," She made a face, showing her disgust, "But did you know that what the hunters did stopped the horsemen from performing genocide on the human world? The horsemen are upset that it happened to them, but they were fine with it being inflicted on another race of people? Without humans, there will be no Fear, and without Fear, there will be no Halloween... They don't care about Halloween - not in the way you and I care about it."
The dracolich shrugged, rising to his feet. The battle had moved close again, and he wouldn't be distracted for much longer. "You don't see me or anyone here walking around with a sword made out of one, with their tortured soul trapped forever inside it."
"What would you have me do, then," he asked flatly. "You keep claiming fighting and killing isn't the answer, so what is? How do I protect everyone without doing anything?"
"Take your time," he added over his shoulder to Lizzy, taking a swipe at the hunter in passing. The need for vengeance was already building up; he could practically hear it whispering through him. Lizzy's fantasy world couldn't hold a candle to the reality - fighting, killing, it was invigorating just as much as it was justified.

"I don't have all the answers. I wish I did, but if you ask the right questions, maybe you'll eventually find them," Lizzy replied, beating herself up on the inside that she wasn't able to confidently give him an absolute answer. She was sure that she wasn't convincing at all...
"Diplomacy? Getting the hunters to stop kidnapping our classmates?" She continued, her voice strained as the volume of her voice dropped, "Turning over those who had been causing problems in the human world to the hunters for punishment?"
Memories of the perfect little kingdom flooded her mind, and for a second, she thought about power again - about how that would solve so many problems. Fix so many things wrong with the world right now. However, once she realized the consequences of a world like that, she looked guilty, disgusted, and frightened all at the same time... And all those emotions were directed at herself, not Aymet.
In her opinion, he might be misguided, but she wasn't any better...
"Look, just... Just don't believe everything they tell you," She finished hastily, and then backed away, leaving Aymet to his murdering ways. He was right - it wasn't as if she had a solution.

Sophie flinched as Xiu jumped in between her, receiving a hit herself. That wasn't something she was expecting and it wasn't something she wanted to have caused. If she'd stayed Xiu wouldn't have been hurt but then.. Alex.. He might not have lasted much longer.. As it was, he didn't look that well now. He looked.. Sophie let out a gasp and took a step back from him. He looked like a monster. Which, in a sense he was so that may have been a silly comparison. But he looked like the kind of monster she should be afraid of. Not the kind she should protect and call brother. Not the kind she should be getting to know.
And then he attacked with such ferocity Sophie felt bad for the hunter he was attacking. It was only a slither of pity; after all, she had seen the damage she had done to Alex only moments before and was well aware that if it came down to it, she would not show pity or remorse if it came to killing Alex. Or any of them for that matter. The ghoul glanced around the field and realised just how dangerous this situation was. This wasn't fighting for right or wrong. It was fighting for life or death. You fought and you killed or you died. Simple as that. Sophie's hand rolled into fists. How was she expected to kill with such tiny hands? She wasn't, of course. She was no horseman nor was she an initiate. She chose this. She chose to defend those she cared about.
"Xiu?" She called, suddenly remembering that the ghoul was there. "Are you okay?" There was something different in Sophie's voice now. She didn't sound like a child so much. Not as innocent as she was before. Her body was tense, waiting for any signs of danger - besides that directly in front of her that Alex was currently... handling.
Aisa relished any opportunity to taste the blood of a hunter, regardless of whether they were ready or not. Some students of horsemen would do well to avoid her lengthening scythe, the metal molding to her hands as she selected the appetizer.
She was waiting for the main meal-- of which, she had no doubt that they would come.

Aisa's red dress, billowing around her waist-- She was there for a moment, before the glimmering silver of her scythe concealed her form. The handle swung easily in her palm, the weapon molding itself to extend towards her target, as she appeared from behind the pistol-wielding hunter.
"Pistols. That's quaint."

Freya felt the sting on the back of her head, and she reached out to check - no blood. That was a pretty pathetic pistol whip, if she was going to be honest. The hunter clearly didn't know how to fight with his hands, which was probably why he was using guns. She looked up at him, her teeth baring for just a moment, before the majestic image of the heir of death swooped down with her scythe, a glorious weapon in Freya's opinion, and brought the hunter to his knees. She stared down at the pitiful man, before looking up at Aisa, her shadowed and haunted eyes now possessing a glimmer of absolute awe.
"Wow."
Freya scrambled to her feet, pulling her hood back over her head and trying not to keep stealing glances at the figure that had come to help her, as she summoned her own weapon. Once a scythe as well, her long reaper's blade had taken a thicker turn, widening into an axe. The giant head of her weapon swung down, aiming for the mist hunter's neck, but he dodged expertly and shot a round right into her abdomen. Not only did she look bad in front of this goddess of fighting, but she'd also taken injury in a spot that made her entire body cringe inward, wrapping her free arm around her stomach and shying away.
If she wanted to make a good first impression, she was out of luck.

Physical Desc: Blonde, blue eyed valkyrie, normally spunky but absolutely devastated at the moment, Freya's wrapped up tighter than a quesadilla and she looks like hell on earth.
Aisa's scythe disappeared, leaving the Protector defenseless to the bullets that the male hunter shot after shooting Freya. But she didn't notice the bullets, instead, lowering her hand to run it along Freya's weapon as several bullets pierced her dress, overlaying a deeper crimson on her dress.
That beautiful axe had so much potential, it was impossible to ignore a good weapon when she saw one. But Aisa was especially partial to close range weapons, especially when she could see how loved it was. Much like Aisa's scythe, her other half--
-- the half that stabbed through a female mist hunter as this very moment. In almost no time at all, the Protector of Death slickly pulled her weapon back, messily extracting her precious weapon from the taint of the hunter's own. The droplets of blood was a especially nice touch, against the cold wintery scenery, the scent clinging to Aisa and those nearby.
"I'd like to say a weapon is only as strong as it's weakest link .. but valkyrie, your weapon tells me otherwise, you see."
Aisa couldn't help but note the others fighting-- the ones who weakened the hunter severely to this point. Everything about the initiates and fighters were quite promising. For once.
