As Melvin did his thing, Jerry gave another snarl, ducking and tumbling as a wing swept past him, but still managed to get a good BARK in- with his weapon.

And did his thing is what Melvin did. Distraction was not an exact science and was more luck and wild gestures than anything else. For now, he was using all the skills of a rodeo clown and trying what he could on a bird he hoped wouldn't peck out his eyes.

Jerry started shouting at the top of his lungs had him wondering if he was in the middle if being torn apart, but then he notice he was singing. The screaming would have been great for a heavy metal ballad but was sung with such a merry way that it list so e of its epic edge. Why Jerry was sing NOW was lost in the Lifer who just kept doing his job.

The important thing was they could move on. Again.

The shadow was very much dead which let Melvin come over and stare at the place the shadow once was. "Nice shooting ...and song." Weird but it probably was a Sun thing.
"Alright, to the gates. If we get list just keep in going." The ruins usually split then up. "Be safe and don't die." He said and started to move. As he navigated the maze, he started to him before he caught himself. "Dammit, now it's in my head."

There was power to the island, something about it that invigorated him. He made it through the maze as though it was nothing, and was humming himself with glee as he waited for Melvin on the other side.

Melvin did not take long finding the ruins and was already inside looking for Jerry. He had a guess he'd either find him at the end or fall in a hole somewhere. The most important thing was that the heavy fighting was already done for the Lifer. It was just luck now and not tripping any security measures this place had.
While being here was tiring, he eventually found the chamber. It was just his luck that he was a shiki now. Oh well. He was getting use to this minipet business.

Jerry's humming stopped as the song filled his mind and heart again. He was here... he was coming for her this time, he would make it to the end. He needed her... his muse. A proper muse. A reliable muse that would always love him...
The world seemed heavier suddenly, and he stumbled, Roar flickering for a moment before he desummoned the weapon.
Again, that weight crashing down on his shoulders. He fell to his knees, crawling forward.
She was testing him.
He crawled, breathing heavily as he tried to sing along, focus on that music drifting towards him, encouraging him to fight. After several fumbling crawling steps, he felt... odd... worming forward on his belly now, feeling as though he had far too many limbs than ever before, even more than the octopussy. He would find her...
You are nothing but an insect to me, she seemed to say, and he felt the world come to life with a wiggle of antennae. It was just a spell, it was just magic. He could over come this.
She was testing him and he would pass her trial.

He was tiny, tinier than he had ever been before, his eyes no more than a couple inches off of the ground as he stared up at the pedestal and monstrous statues above him.
For a centipede, he was huge. For a cloudipede, he was average.
A deep breath, a wiggling of antenna, he experimentally gripped the side of the column. Climbing was about as complicated as walking, and he let his body do the work instinctively, crawling along with more speed in a wiggling path until he was crawling over a twin flute. "Melvin!" He called out, his voice strangled and breathy, "I... I can't lift it!" He would have cried. The thing was bigger than he was- he could fit inside it if the other man could carry it, though...
A gift, a blessing from his muse. His scattered brain clung to what facts he could swallow.

To Melvin, the creature was massive. He had entered the chamber and had been examining a mask he once saw before when he heard the chittering noise of something nearby. Turning, he looked over to see a large centipede holding a flute and jumped back, colliding into a pedestal um as he held it, eyes wide and breath short. His stomach turned as he went instantly pale, and he felt himself started to hyperventilate as he looked at the bug that was looking at him. Cloudipede, though he didn't know why it was called this. They worked with them in the labs. Correction, OTHER people worked with them. Even when he was assigned walking them, he never opened their cage. He couldn't.
It was the whistle that told him THIS was Jerry, but the Lifer was having a hard time just drawing close. "Jerry...why..." He was holding a strange flute as he was curled about it, and he stepped closer, his legs weak and stomach turning. He was going to throw up soon. He knew it.
"I...I can't..." He told him, but as if in response, the entire place started to shake and rattle. They had to go, and for all the times Jerry saved him as a mini, it was Melvin's turn to step up.
Clenching his teeth, he reached out and took the end of the flute, picking it up along with the creature before grabbing his pendant and porting them away. When they got back, he set Jerry down quickly and stepped back to give himself space. He turned just in time to find a trash can and threw up.
It was with some pleading to a tech to get Jerry and his flute to the Lifers to take care of and let Jerry be placed on a bed with his flute till he changed back.
