Crouching down and laying the spear on the ground while he itched under her chin while petting the top of her head. "That is a clever idea for a jutsu, extremely useful when someone is low in chakra. My area for the chakra storage is a tricky one, It only works on jutsu I managed to absorb." His eyes got wide as if he had just thought of something. "It might very well work if I did it right." Standing up he looked to her once more."I managed to get that jutsu worked out. I was thinking when your sure that your free we could head over to the dangerious area within suna. Its probably been a while since you tread in there I'll bet." Picking his spear back up and attaching it to his back he turned towards the door with a slightly smug smile on his face. "Don't gotta worry though, I'd take care of you."

Kaori laughed and stood, she then grabbed her scythe from it's mount on the wall behind her chair and strapped it to her back, "Who's to say Nova and I won't be taking care of you?" She asked playfully, not caring that it could be considered flirting, it was also the truth. She wasn't made Kazekage by being weak after all.

Smiling from her comment, he knew she was strong. How strong was unclear. Leaping to the front door slightly excited by her coming along."I ment no disrespect. I know your talented, its just... what business would i have being a chunnin if I could not handle a few stray beasts. No sense in durtying your hands over such small matters. Leave them to me, ill let you practice my new technique on them once we get there."

Kaori chucked and patted Kaz's shoulder kindly, "Alright then, I'll let you take care of any small fry, and I'll step in if you get in trouble." Of course, she didn't mean that as an insult, she was only playing, loosening up a little, at least around Kaz, like she'd promised. Kaori made a hand sign and created a clone of herself. The clone then sat down in her chair and waved at Nova, Kaz, and the original Kaori. The original then turned and left the office.

At long last, Kenji had worked his way up to the rank of genin. He could now be called a shinobi and he couldn't be any more ecstatic...even if it didn't show. Before beginning today's training, he was ordered to report to the Kazekage and receive his headband. No big deal, he'd be in and out quick before making a beeline for the academy. There were a couple jutsu he felt up to trying to learn today. Then, hopefully he could find a mission or two to take up. Kenji approached the door and gave it a few solid knocks to alert the kazekage. He waited patiently for a reply to enter...

The clone of Kaori looked up from her paperwork, mostly what the original created them for in the first place, and tilted her head slightly at the sound of a knock on her door. It must be another genin here for their headband. She opened the drawer and looked at the diamond lotus, still very much active and still infused with the emotion of curiosity and the need to share one's thoughts, and smirked, this could be fun."Come on in then." The clone called pleasantly.

At least he didn't have to wait long as a voice called for him to enter. Kenji pushed the door open and to his surprise, was greeted by a flourishing garden. Here, in Suna of all places?!"I've...never seen so many flowers..."he muttered, approaching the kage's desk. To be thriving in such a place they would have to be tended to daily. Finally looking at the seated woman, he was quick to notice how pretty and young she was. To be a kage already, she must be very strong and wise. This was actually the first time he'd seen her up close and in person. Bowing, he proceeded to introduce himself."I'm Kenji Hatake. I was told to come see you"he explained, rising from his bow. His eyes remained on the kazekage, overcome with a sense of curiosity."I wonder...how old she is?"blurted his thoughts aloud, unaware he did so.

The clone of Kaori chuckled and nodded at the little genin, it seemed everyone but her brother was susceptible to her diamond lotus. She wasn't surprised he was curious about her age, she was young, especially for a Kage. She motioned the boy forward, "I'm twenty-three. And you are?" The clone asked sweetly. Again, it wasn't like she couldn't just look at his profile, but paper could only tell her so much. How the boy answered would tell quite a bit about himself, without him even realizing he was being affected by the lotus.

Unaware why she was laughing, Kenji did as he was asked and stepped closer to the desk. Hearing her reply, he came to the shocking realization that he just asked that aloud. Not to come off even more impolite, he quickly answered her question."I'm fourteen...ma'am. I-...sorry."This wasn't like him at all; talking aloud and his own thoughts at that. Was it nerves? No, he didn't feel nervous but he definitely felt embarrassed. At least the the kazekage didn't seem offended by his words. She seemed very understanding actually...lucky him.

TKaori smiled at him and nodded, "I assume you're here for a headband and not chitchat, am I correct in my assumptions?" She asked as she reached into her desk and took out a headband. She smiled and held it up for the boy to see, he was just around the average age for a genin, a little older than she and her brother had been when they were in the academy, but not by too much. She couldn't wait to see how he grew into himself. And he was a Hatake, so he'd be a valuable asset to the village, and probably one of her most trusted shinobi once he'd proven himself.

Kenji nodded in response to her assumption, ready to train as an official sand shinobi. He realized there was a lot he could accomplish at his age if he applied himself, which of course he would. His father and brother were depending on him to represent the clan honorably and show loyalty to a fault. And of course, to protect the remainder of his family who meant the world to him.

Accepting the headband, Kenji carefully tied it to his left shoulder. Once he had it not so tight but not so loose, he looked at the woman when she mention his father."...I will. Thank you"he replied, bowing to the kazekage again. He turned and headed to the door while stealing glances at the flowers around him. So many he hadn't seen before but there was no time to dawdle. The young shinobi would be heading to the academy for much needed training.

Kaori raised an eyebrow as the Hatake turned to leave. She hadn't dismissed the boy. "Excuse me, but I haven't dismissed you." She said, seemingly pleasantly, but there was a distinct chill to her voice now, like that of an animal getting ready to pounce on the unsuspecting. She pointed at the boy, then turned her hand and beckoned him closer to her desk once more. She would teach this boy some manners, and to wait to be dismissed by a superior officer, much less his Kage.

Before he reached the door, Kenji stopped in his tracks at the kage words. Swiftly turning around, he re-approached the desk where he stood previously. It seemed that wasn't his que to leave...which, again, didn't look good."Err, sorry...again"he apologized. Way to look insubordinate in front of his village's leader.
