Upon exiting, Levi did indeed glance around, eyes adjusting to the new level of light compared to the darkness she'd just been in a moment ago. She registered Noland's voice, but hadn't the foggiest of where he was.

Her tail swayed and a smile creeped onto her face when she noted that she had successfully exited the test area. Shun- That's right, she was alone. Shun hadn't followed her in the maze of darkness and couldn't be seen either among the trees of the typical none-spongey forrest. Glancing behind her now, Levi just saw a wall. The tatzel somewhat expected the ToTer to make it unlikely for reentry to happen. There was nothing left for her to do but wait and hope the reaper boil would find his way through. Had he adjusted to having one eye yet? One of her Uncles back home had a missing eye; freak pitchfork accident. It wasn't right to judge the skill of a creature though based simply on their eye count though; Levi believed it was how one used it/them.

Sitting with her back to a tree trunk, waiting with her eyes closed, Levi only arose when the reaper was heard. Yew found folk in'thar...? Levi had been mulling over the same thought; Noland's stomach knew no bounds. The tatzel joined Noland and Shun again, responding to the ToTer's inquiry. Learned darkness can hide ya but- ... She had to pause and think of the rest. ...ya'don't need ta'be dark ta hide'in'it. Her brows contorted to show she was deep in thought over it. This was something she indeed already knew, but not in the literal sense of being a ball of light in complete darkness. Hey, that was something too...

Oh! And sometimes, in'a dark place, ya'gotta look inside fer yer own answers. Deep, Levi. Deep.

Looking to the ghoul, back to Shun, then the ghoul and back to Shun again, Levi offered the reaper a bit of praise; it wasn't as easy as Noland said it was. Mighty fine work, Shun. Knew I'd be seein' ya out 'ere. 'N with 'a survivor. Further proof they could've been in there for much much longer... thank Jack.

The ghoul looked absolutely distraught at the loss of her trusty pointed stick, and her answer to the question was nothing more than a gaping, noiseless mouth. Her hands were raised palm upward, in a position that clearly spoke the words she could not. 'Why, Jack, why.'

"Useless, you say? Nobody should ever consider themselves useless.. but I'm glad you learned how much more useful having a partner can be! Maybe next time you'll stick with your friends in a bind!"

"Maybe next time he'll eat the bug." The ghoul had finally found her voice, and was already making sarcastic jokes at Shun's expense. She'd heard his gratitude, and it soothed the sting of losing her weapon. A little. If he looked her way, she was even smiling at him. A little.

Noland leaned in close to Levi, the expressionless white mask only an inch away.

"You sound like you learned a very important lesson." Noland brushed up and down her arm with a tendril of darkness again. "Just like I'd planned all along!" He lied. "Good job! And now, your reward."

He backed away from them both, and started to walk away. "Follow me, I know the way home!"

...was that their reward?!

As Levi gave her answer, Shun looked towards her, then back to Noland. Granted, he soon shot the stranger a bit of a look when she made a jab regarding the bug again. He wasn't quite sure what that smile meant either. At the mention of a reward, he furrowed his brow.

The Reaper might have gotten out without dissipating, but he wasn't entirely certain if he was really worthy of a reward. Silently, he just started to follow the hungry ghost. Granted, he wasn't sure if the guy really had a reward for them in the first place. Regardless, he went on and removed his leather jacket. It was kind of heavy being waterlogged, and it wasn't making him feel any warmer right about now.

He was also going to need a shower once he got home.

The walk home was, thankfully, not their reward. After a few minutes of silence, Noland finally piped up with a bit of advice.

"The one thing I want you to take away from this experience is how important it is to use all of your senses to, well, sense an oncoming attack. The first step to being stealthy is being able to dodge an attack better. That's my opinion, anyway. So here's my advice. When you're fighting someone. Don't just look for their weak spots. Listen to the way their body shifts. Smell their fear. Use all of your senses, and maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to know when their attack is coming. They won't know what hit them! Sorry, that's not right. They won't know what.. didn't get hit? Really, I have no fun way of saying this. Just learn to dodge better!"

And that jumble of nonsense was their true reward.

New Learned Ability Unlocked!
Beginner Dodge:
Difficulty level: Beginner
Pre-requisites: Sign up to be mentored by Noland O'Facey
Battle Effect: Once per battle, roll three of your normal attack dice instead of two. (If you're Y3, that means roll 3d10). The first two dice are your normal attack roll. If the third dice is even, your opponent's modifier is raised to -8 on their next turn. (If fighting a Horseman, the modifier goes from -8 to -9. If fighting a Protector, this effect is invalid.) If the third dice is odd, nothing happens.
Non-battle Effect: Your character is now one step closer to zen-like sensory function. And they're, you know. Good at dodging.
Requirements: Successfully complete first mentor activity with Noland O'Facey.
