Okay. Standing Take 2. You can do this, Candace. She groaned as she pulled herself up to her feet again, trying to force herself to stand straight. She would have helped Aria if she wasn't ready to throw up from pain. It was like being stabbed in the ovaries with a thousand heated knives. It was not pleasant. She wanted to cry but she grit her teeth and kept her eyes tightly closed. She would. Not. Cry.
At Aria's question Candace gave her a thumb's up. She was never trusting a headband again if that were the case. She looked around, finally realizing who was close by. Molly and Feng. Oh good, they were safe. And where was Syd--ah! There she was.
"What subject is he going with? Atropos decided to regale me with a tale of her past...it sounded like the introduction to Aladdin, though." She laughed, shaking her head and clinging to the arm of the couch with an almost vice-like grip. "S..so...the house is all cleared out now, right?" There was no way Candace could fight like this. She could barely stand.

"Don't be," Aria replied to Molly, taking her comment to have been directed at her. "At least you -- all of you are getting these experience now. Me? I had the pleasure of getting this effect while on the field." Aria looked away, her cheeks flushing as she recalled the memory. "It was... embarrassing. I'm lucky I was carried back." She shook her head, one hand moving to stroke her weapon. The memory alone was enough to make Aria send a quiet thank you to her weapon for being so useful; even when carried she could at least still aim and attack when needed while they retreated.
Symphony asked quietly, breaking into her thoughts. Aria nodded, breathing a sigh of relief as it seemed easier to stand up and walk.
Just enough to make sure everyone will be all right, Aria replied, Or at least until we get back to base. We can find somewhere to curl up and wait it out. Aria took a deep breath, shooting down the idea that Symphony presented to her. No. Not there. I prefer somewhere quieter. There's a chance that I'd be found and disturbed there.
Aria managed a chucke towards Syd. "Sounds like it's doing the trick though. It beats repeating Runic chants." She was with Candace; what was Syd's weapon talking about?
When Candace asked her question, Aria nodded. "Your body learns to adapt, but that... That takes a long time. Even after training it took me a couple years to reach this point. If I didn't have Symphony, I wouldn't be standing here." Aria shuddered, touching her weapon again. "The more time you spend with your weapon, the easier it is for a weapon to be in tuned to you. Symphony was able to warn -- remind me, rather, about the crunch effect before it hit." She sighed. "I'm sorry. I wasn't expecting Allan to have gotten his hands on some and turn them into animal ears like he did."
With Candace's second question, Aria shrugged. "Since nothing has attacked us? Possibly. I'm going to wander around and make sure there aren't any open windows or anything for one to slip into. It doesn't look like we're moving anywhere for awhile. And," she looked troubled as she glanced from face to face, frowning. "If Allan was able to get as many of these headbands onto hunters as I think he did... I don't think we're going to be in good shape. Keep trying to move around, and keep talking either to your weapons or each other. The more you move and the less you think about the cramps, the faster you'll recover. If you can, get some aspirin into you. Don't rush; take your time. You're going to be feeling like complete and utter s**t for the next couple of days until your body recovers."

Cass seemed horrified at the idea of having to get this kind of 'experience' while being out on the field, because as it was, all she wanted to do was keep herself curled up against Marcus and make sad faces. "Nicodemus is definitely a boon in this case.." she agreed, patting the chain that had reformed around her waist. There was no way in hell she was going to maintain a steady weapon under these conditions.
Then again, Cass was all-range. Well, she wasn't long-a**-away-sniper-rifle range. But that wasn't the point.
Still... "Of all times to be caught without my bag.." she grumbled, half burying her face into Marcus's leg with a groan. Nicodemus, in her head, was throwing a small fit about her head being in a boy's lap and how inappropriate this kind of fraternizing while being out on the field was. It was kind of obnoxious, actually.
Still, she offered Aria a weak thumbs up as to 'how she was doing'. However, the idea of 'getting up' to actually walk around caused a major cramp to just run right through her body as Cass hissed and curled her knees up to her chest - or as close as they could get at the given time.

"He's... decided... that I read poorly," Syd gritted out. "So now he's... reading a romance novel... from my memory. And it's... horrible because... he's good at it," she explained. "With... sound effects," she muttered, her face bright red.

"...A romance novel with sound effects." Candace blinked, just staring at Sydney. Underwear obsession, romance novels that she read so frequently her weapon could pick it easily out of her memory...well then.
Not so strange when I make fun of the sounds you make for the doctor now, hmmmm? Candace glowered, saying nothing to that. It wasn't a similar situation at all. Damnit.
"Is it a good one, at least?" Things like that were important.
When Aria spoke up to answer her she immediately had Candace's undivided attention. Years...it took her years to adapt to this. ********. Atropos had tried to warn her but she barely had a second to register Atropos had even said anything before it happened. She whimpered, her knees going weak and nearly giving out as another wave of nauseating pain hit her. So this was Allan's fault.
Allan made it a little hard to like him sometimes.
"Y-yes, ma'am." Candace breathed out, coughing and forcing herself to ignore how her stomach once again wished to be emptied of its contents. Mind over matter. Mind over matter. You are the master of your own goddamn stomach, Candace.
Everyone who had helped clear the main building had been told to wear the headbands. Even Lance had one. Where was Lance? Was he okay? "Days?!" Candace cried, holding a wall and taking a few steps. ********. Every step felt like she was being slowly murdered. It was so much easier to curl up on the floor like Cass and--wait. Wait, Cass. No.
"Cass, honey.." She hissed, pressing a hand to her abdomen. ********. "Get up. We have to walk it off. Come on." She felt more patient than she probably sounded, her efforts to not just curl up into a ball of sobs and cries. "Cass, get up. We'll just walk around this room, okay?" Just a couple slow, walking laps. That's all they had to do.
Where was Molly? Aria had said find aspirin, and Molly was always prepared. Did she have any kind of painkillers?

Marcus was trying to grin and bear it, save his masculinity but ********. It was hard. It was really hard with the whole 'feeling like a brick was being slamming into you'. Keeping his hand at her back he was keeping with the motions of rubbing trying to keep her somewhat distracted...himself as well. He would properly apologize to Aria for barging in later. But..Cass. Cass radar had gone off.
He couldn't just ignore Cassdar.
"Cass." He whispered, trying his best to nuzzle his way into her ear. "Candace is right we gotta-" Oh ******** if this was what women go through he was going to treat Cass like a goddess when she got her period next, "-Get up. You can climb on me if you want. Or I can try and carry you."
Try. Big words for the pain he was in.

"I think... he's patching them together," she said, frowning, because this was serious enough for her to forget about her cramps. "Because the hero's name was Rock two minutes ago, and he just called him Henry. And... an international spy."
No, seriously, this was getting fascinating, and she almost would admit it.
"Now his name is Harry."

Cass took a moment to frown as it seemed it was time to get up, shifting her weight to push herself up onto her knees before whimpering, a throb going through her body. "********, this is worse than usual..." she whined, and as it was, she was normally incapacitated by the damn thing anyways, so just sitting up took her about two minutes punctuated by long pauses and small whimpers until the next problem would be getting up onto her feet.
"Okay...getting up...." she whimpered, half into Marcus's shoulder.
Any time now. Nicodemus added helpfully as Cass slowly...slowly..did nothing. For about five minutes she had to give herself the pep talk to get her legs moving, wrapping her arms around her stomach as she inched one of her legs out from under her to start getting up, hissing.
It would take nearly fifteen minutes of Cass toughing it out before she was up on her feet, leaning against the wall and half in tears from the agony of her inside. Worse cramps of her life? She could hardly feel her legs and trying to stand on them was becoming a task.
"Marcus, I think I'm gonna half to lean on you, babe..." she whispered with a sniffle. She hated her body so much.
I can't help.

Patching them together...
She gave Sydney a serious look. "Is Harry a wizard?" Does he put on his wizard robe and hat?
Candace shook her head at Marcus' suggestion to flat out carry Cass. "No, don't carry her. That completely negates the whole purpose of walking it off. Cass is a tough girl, she can handle it." She gave Cass an encouraging smile, reaching down to help her up when the girl did finally start to move. Come on, Cass. You can do this. You've handled worse, right? Just a little higher and you'll be standing...annnd.. "Thatta girl~." Candace tried not to double over in pain as another wave hit her. Fffffuuuuuuuuuuck!
Oh god. Cass was crying. Nonono. "Shhh, shh. No, no. Don't cry, sweetie. We'll find some aspirin, okay?" Candace reached out to cup her cheek, shaking her head. "Come on. Take a step. If you fall you've got two people here to catch you, okay?" Candace took a hesitant step back away from Cass, wincing and pressing a hand against her abdomen. Ow! ********. God. This hurt so bad.
Is this what childbirth is like holy s**t I never want to have a baby ever oh my god it feels like I'm being stabbed in the gut with a thousand heated knives whyyyyyyy! Candace whimpered, stumbling back a bit as her legs shook and threatened to give out from under her. No! Stay standing!
What's childbirth?
What!?
Does it hurt? Humans have to hurt themselves to have scarelings?
...Oh god. I am not having this conversation right now. Atropos whined. Then don't bring it up! I want to know!

He groaned, grabbing the wall to stand beside her. "See? You can do it." So could he. Look at how amazing your man was Cass, just ignore the fact he was grabbing is side and biting back the pain lacing his words very poorly. Fingers went to her hair, brushing away a few strands from her face. Looking over at Candace he let out a choking chuckle. "She's strong...but she tends to... go over board at times." He take was taking the time to even his breathing. "The pills... don't help a whole lot either. Not yet for me at least."
He might have chugged a handful.
"You and lean on me Cass, I'll be right here okay?" He kissed her nose lightly, moving across her face. "Just take it slow and keep... your breathing steady." Kissing her helped distract him, helped him move off the wall. "We can go and Curl up, drink some tea, maybe sneak into the film room kay?"

"I hate....my...uterus." Cass choked out miserably. "I want to die....even when...it isn't activating...it's..superpowers.." still, she half managed, leaning into Marcus's little butterfly kisses more than appreciatively. It was probably a horrible time to be lovey dovey like that, but she really didn't mind since it wasn't as though they were getting hot and heavy. They were just being a couple.
Like couples were.
Still, as she seemed to be urged to do on all fronts, Cass took a deep breath before leaning against Marcus with another small whimper. "Tea and a movie sound great." she agreed. "Just gotta..tough all this out first." was added to a few small kisses of her own. Which mostly meant slow breaths and forcing herself away from the wall to brave walking like a boss!
She'd taken about three steps before her legs shook and she looked back to Marcus like 'Oh god, help'

Izy said gleefully.
"Noooo," Syd said. "Don't make him a wizard just because of that--"
Syd groaned, lightly hitting her head on the ground. "Brace... yourself?" she repeated. "Really, Izy--"

As the trainees were talking, Aria turned her back towards them as she answered her phone. "Aria. Yeah. Wh-" The division leader dashed up the stairs, disappearing. A door was slammed open, her footsteps barely audible. The soft sound stopped, returning before the leader leaned over the rail. "Five with one, one up. Yes, that's what I said. Look, are you -- okay. Thanks. It's going to take more then that. Yeah. Wait. Can you -- augh!" Aria snarled, shoving the phone into her pocket. "Every goddamn time. Son of a -" She cut herself off as she returned to the lower level, her face grim as she surveyed the trainees. "If you can move, I need you with me and on your feet." Aria began briskly. " Feng? You especially. The rest of you, try to group up and move at least into the living room. We need to start fortifying this place." "I just received word that a large amount of Insanity is going to converge over the town. There's a high chance that those things will try to get in. I don't think we can make a run back to the main building where the runes will repel them." Aria paused, studying their faces. "The best thing we can do is prepare. If any of those things get through, we're going to have to fight." "If you chose to, you can try to run but I don't recommend it." Aria added, gesturing outside. Already the weather seemed to become cloudier, darker as the impending Insanity wave grew. "I don't know when reinforcements will arrive," if any, "Or how long this wave will last. If you can help, then help. If not, then be prepared to defend yourself." With that said, Aria moved forward and dumped the various magazines and knick-knacks off the coffee table that the previous house inhabitant left there before dragging it over to the door. It was tipped on its side, then braced against it. With luck, nothing would get through... Quote: The Mists+Marcus are now suck in a house pre-Insanity wave! This is going to function just like Princess Island with notable differences: - There is no Princess. - Everyone is at half HP (except Feng) - If a mob gets through, HP is not removed. Instead, a mob is spawned and must be defeated. Due to the effects of runic headbands, everyone's ability to make defenses is cut! Please roll 4d4 if you choose to build defenses. I will be handling the attacking forces roll. Bonus Mechanic:- Mist acting as Moon? Great! +1 number on top of whatever you roll. - Moon being a Moon? CONGRATS you get to roll the full 12d4. Good thing you took all that defensive training, huh? Please keep a running total of the path HPs! You can click here for a link to the Moon Princess training course which this is based off of~ Nothing like runic cramps and certain death to bring a division together, huh? |D

Looking over to Aria as she spoke, the moon hunter hoped nothing bad was going to happen but then again, he also thought about Murphy's law. If it can go wrong it will. And naturally, it would, and did when you were a hunter. No days off ever really.
Marcus liked the idea of running but in the condition they were in? Ahhhhahhhhahah nope. Nope nope nope. Maybe like a foot. Maybe. Then they would just writhe on the ground. He'd use his run card to find Cass. But, even in pain, he would be able to at least barricade some things. "Of all the days I go leave the caverns without the daggers..." He groaned, letting Cass go he moved to do something useful. Moving furniture wasn't a big deal, nor, was setting things against the opening. What was a big deal?
"Jesus ******** Christ I will never envy a woman ever again."
