Gonna make a reminder post here, since I don't want to leave anyone hanging (or at least I'm trying not to), but I will be gone for the next two weeks. I'll hate not being around the internet, but field camp is taking me out camping and mapping. I should be back on the 16th.

I'm sorry. I really hope I didn't leave anyone hanging, I tried to finish replying to people so that they wouldn't have to wait on me (I hate it when there's a pause in the middle of the conversation due to inactivity and you can't get out of it because that would seem weird/rude).

Demon Fox Kyuu, if you want to look at Reina's pictures, I give you permission to check out her sketchbook. It's half empty, but there's a page with different flowers and butterflies, a few page of guns (mostly handguns, but there is a shotgun on a page and all with different levels of detail), a few page showing sketches of people's expressions, and a page with various camping equipment.

None of these pictures will be moving or coming to life. I wish I could do more to help you out (I really didn't want to leave you hanging like that), but sadly, I'm leaving in about 3 1/2 hours.

Wish me luck!

So I got a social life and it infringed upon my online social life.

I promise to be more active as social lives give me a headache.

Like a hangover, only without the fun drunk part in the middle.

It's good to have a balance. classified_northkittenstar

I try to keep a steady balance between work, online, and offline. It can be tough sometimes though. I'm sure everyone has a dose of this in some way.

I am personally inclined to disregard online stuff in lieu of offline stuff via philosophical view.

This usually means that I will disappear for a week or two and eschew computers because of whatever offline reason.

For me, the balance is achieved when I no longer feel as though I am relying on the online to substitute/replace something offline...

It makes me a bit less attached to everything I do online.

Eh, the balance is lost when you're relying on the net to replace your real life. ninja

And true balance is achieved when I no longer use the computer for anything but research/writing ^.^

Not that I don't like the people I meet online.

(and gaming).

Nah, I disagree with that. The net's just another way to network. RPing is just another way to RP. Talking to people online is just another way to connect. The net's way of doing things parallels here to everything in real life, the main difference being that you're sitting before a monitor.

Balance has nothing to do with what is done on here specifically. If the net's the best way for me to meet up with people who are willing to create a story with me, then I'd use the net for that purpose.

I think balance is more of a question of 'how often' as opposed to 'what'. Engorging oneself, whether that is by overRPing, overgaming, or simply overeating, the theory's the same.

You are correct.

It is simply my personal preference to have my social life rooted in the physical reality rather than the digital reality.

Writing and RPing go hand-in-hand though, and the social interactions that go with it I don't mind in the least.

In fact I don't mind being social online at all but to me it does not compare, and therefore does not hold as much weight, as being social offline. The parallels are great (and might I add pretty damn nice considering not even 20 odd years ago it was just phones and letters) but I can never honestly say that I'd prefer to talk to someone online than face-to-face.

And yes, that does take into account the people who are actually better people online. razz

All things in moderation. The only reason to completely cut off an activity for the sake of 'balance' is if you can't control yourself enough to moderate. Otherwise there's no harm in spending a reasonable portion of your time chatting with people far, far away. Internet friends are just high tech pen pals and there's a long history of those becoming meaningful relationships. Sometimes you even make friends you'll end up seeing IRL. Mel and I are on our way home from such a visit (after driving well over 2,000 miles).

So just keep up the gym and social life but don't feel bad for getting online. We'd miss you if you disappear.

Also, you should get on AIM. I has crazy music stories to rant at you.

Meaningful relationships. Man.

Anyway, you should probably go to bed, you've been up late a lot this week.

And I'll be on AIM eventually. Sometime between all this hullabaloo.

Meh, sleep is for the weak. . . and those that don't have insomnia.

Hope things are going good with you, wasn't aware of a hullabaloo. . . great word that.
