“Respect is probably what we should shoot for, yeah, but as a word of advice..." Sessrumnir spoke up again once Celsus was done speaking, hopefully before any of this pointless bickering could get any worse. "Putting kids down isn’t really the best way to talk to them," he said. He looked at Shalott more than he did Babylon, since he figured she should know better seeing as she seemed to be one of the few adults here (at least as far as age was concerned). “And considering there seem to be a lot of kids running around trying to save the city, I think you’d be better off giving them a break and helping them before criticizing them.”

He knew he didn’t have the best track record, but this meeting or whatever it was was already getting out of hand, and he didn’t really feel like standing around and letting that continue. As one of “the adults” and as a teacher himself, he felt somewhat responsible for preventing things from blowing up too badly, even if it was sort of amusing. “You can correct him all you want, because you’re kind of both right here, and if you meant one thing and not the other then go ahead and says so, but it actually sort of seems like the kid does know what he’s talking about, so instead of acting like he’s an idiot, maybe you should be the bigger person and drop it. I think we’ve bickered enough here.”

The page of Jupiter then spared a glance for Babylon, showing him half a grin and a quick shrug of the shoulders. “We could probably come up with a few other historical quotes that pretty much mean the same thing,” he observed. Ideals and sentiments weren’t commonly restricted to a single individual throughout history, after all.

“Sooo, instead of continuing on with that,” Sessrumnir continued, “how’s about we focus on the important stuff, like what we’re doing here, and what this room is, and how we all got here, and what we’re going to do about it, and who or what it speaking through us, because I don’t know about all of you, but the idea of having something or someone speaking through me doesn’t really sit well with me. As far as what we want when it comes to the past, present and future, it seems like we've all got it pretty figured out already,” he said.

Valhalla looked uncomfortably around the table and wished he were somewhere doing something other than this. This wasn't the first quasi-meeting he'd been to that had spiraled out of control, and he wasn't all that thrilled about it happening again.

He just sighed to himself and kept his mouth shut...

Except for a small comment of "nerd" in Babylon's direction.

Ian stood still while he took in his surroundings - the smooth stone beneath his bare feet, the table and chairs, the candles, the fireplace ... the fact that he was wearing clothes that were extremely comfortable and not his lucky pajamas.

He heard others moving around, chair legs scraping across the floor as some of the other sat down, and then lights as some of them lit candles. He moved to join them around the table, hoping he was not too late to ... whatever they were here for. Introductions were going around, and so he offered his own name: "I'm Red Cliff of Mars." He took note that the other Knights were identifying themselves as of other planets, which made sense to Ian in a weird sort of way.

The Knights of each place were grouping together. Ian felt very alone, with no one else of Mars beside him. And the dark void above was starting to feel really uncomfortable.

"Wonder?" he repeated at Babylon's words. Being a dork about Chinese history, Ian knew there had been a famous battle at a place called Red Cliff in China, but, much as he would have jumped at a chance to go there, he had never been. The red-haired boy was very new to all of this, and really had not received a whole lot of guidance. He would have to go to his Wonder, sometime, somehow, very soon, to find out what was meant by all of this - was it bad he had not been yet? Ian shrank a little where he stood, feeling even more shy about his lack of experience.

He kept quiet, taking in what the other, clearly more experienced Knights, said, and nodded occasionally. He felt foolish for things he had said the night he had found his power - not all of it had been sincere, though, as fear had made him not himself, but Ian still felt guilt for having asked for power only to protect himself. He knew that being selfish was really not in his nature, though, and, listening to the conversation around him of just how ancient his power was, Ian understood that there were definite responsibilities he now carried. Like Spiderman.

"I guess what I need to do first for myself is investigate this Wonder of mine," Ian admitted, standing behind one of the empty chairs and resting his hands on it. "Whatever past I have, I ... honestly know nothing about it, and if I'm going to do a good job being Red Cliff now, I need to find out who Red Cliff was before." It sounded like ancestors could provide guidance - something that Ian had of course already heard of, coming from a culture that traditionally respected those who had come before.

"Beyond that, though," he added, more quietly, "I'm not really sure what else I can offer just yet. I'm still pretty new to this."

Finally there seemed to be some agreement! Esquiline wanted to clap with joy. The voices wanted them to rebuild this place, and the Knights in general. They now wanted to know just how they were going to do that.

"Well, if we are all in agreement with rebuilding with a combination of old and new." She started to say, softly at first before getting a little bit louder. "Then does anyone have a plan for doing just that? It seems to me that the Knights are a newer faction than the senshi or the Negaverse. For whatever reason, we arrived late to the party. So to rebuild, maybe we have to come up with common rules, or goals. Establish what it means to be a Knight. Maybe even come up with a way to compile and organize all of the information we have." Esquiline was thinking almost like an almanac of Knight-dom, or a computer database with information on their Wonders, enemies or even friends. Perhaps combining everyone's knowledge would help them to reach another connection or two that would otherwise elude them.

Finished with her speech she folded her hands neatly in her lap, resisting the urge to look down. Now was not the time to be meek.

Caelian glanced to the Venus page next to her and gave a smile. Now, this girl was showing some sense. If they could make something to…to preserve the things they had learned so far, maybe, maybe they could really rebuild the faction as a whole. “I really…think we should strive for some sort of unity first.” She said, glancing around. Would this opinion spark another argument? She truly hoped not, but…They were all on the same side. They shouldn’t be arguing about who did what, who said what or who didn’t do what. They should be figuring out how to better grow and learn.

“We…are a group that seems…” She sighed, looking up at the void above her. “This place seems to suggest to me that we were unified once? At least a little bit? But, even if we are pledged to our own planets and stars and what have you, we are still knights at the core, right? So we should figure out…”

Caelian swallowed, then shrugged. “What a knight really is, shouldn’t we? What is our real purpose?”

The pledge was heard.

For some it was convicted, a true promise. For others it was uncertain, and barely the beginnings of one. But it was enough. The decision had been made, and agreed upon. The Knights had a new mission, outside fighting Chaos. And yet, completing it would be essential to their goals.

To look to the past, and learn the old ways from ancestral guidance and unearthed ancient memories.

To consider the present, and compare new ideas with the old, amongst Knights of every rank and station.

To think towards the future, and rebuild the institution of the Knights in such a way that it could represent and serve the people of the cosmos for generations to come.

It was a simple thought, but a powerful one, shared by them all. And it was enough to affect a change around them, however brief and slight it was. The candles flared, the fireplace roared, and for a second the room was filled with a flash of true color and true warmth: banners depicting coats of arms filled the room, the scent of something hearty and delicious wafted from the kitchen, and above them was a high, complete ceiling over windows that depicted a clear and true sky.

A vision of what this place once was, and at the same time of what it could be again. It imprinted itself powerfully, a clear and vibrant image that in the future would be effortless to recall, and then vanished -- but not without a surge of more tangible, magical powerful, brought to the Knights solely by the strength of their newfound convictions and curiosities.

Some would feel faster, others more graceful, and so on. Others, being mere Pages, would feel the power locked away from their reach, but lying in wait until they were ready to wield it.

Quote:
Making your pledge to the institution of the Knights has unlocked your access to one of the faction's lost powers, the Planetary Aspects! An Aspect is a manifestation of raw cosmic power that flows through the body of a Knight, enhancing their performance in one way or another. Once you hit your Squire stage, you can activate yours with your signet ring and a couple of seconds of focus.

Quote:
  • ASPECT OF MERCURY: A Mercury Knight's form becomes staticy / glitchy in appearance, as if they were products of the advanced technology that is their planet's pride and joy. This enables them to blend in with their surroundings slightly: opponents have trouble seeing them if they are standing still, and their movements can be difficult to read in close combat.

  • ASPECT OF VENUS: Venus Knights are quite literally radiant with beauty that even a god would envy, and theirs is practically unmarred. They heal extremely quickly from minor cuts, scrapes and bruises, making it difficult to wear them down with hits that only go skin-deep.

  • ASPECT OF EARTH: As upholders of virtue, Earth Knights have a saintly presence and seem to be always followed by sunlight, even at night. They have increased sensitivity to movements around them, and can always tell when someone is trying to sneak up on them -- which means there is no advantage to fighting them any way but honorably.

  • ASPECT OF MARS: The raging fires of an active battlefield seem to always be illuminating Knights of Mars. They are so filled with the spirit of war that taking damage invigorates them with a short surge of energy instead of slowing them down. While losing blood and breaking bones are still a danger to them, these Knights have been able to turn such things into motivation to keep fighting instead of reasons to stop.

  • ASPECT OF JUPITER: Jupiter Knights have the presence of a titan, trading subtlety for a capacity to overwhelm. While their booming voices and rumbling footsteps make it easy to tell when one is nearby, the miniature thunderclaps that follow every hit they land can be distracting and disorienting when they get up close and personal.

  • ASPECT OF SATURN: As servants of the planet of death, the ghost-like demeanor of Saturn Knights is incredibly fitting. They always appear somewhat cast in shadow and their movements are completely silent, making them masters of stealth.

  • ASPECT OF URANUS: The clothes and hair of Uranus Knights are always being teased by a persistent, swirling breeze. When they move that wind is always at their backs, giving a boost to their running speed and jumping distance. Other Knights of the same rank would have a lot of trouble trying to outrun those of Uranus.

  • ASPECT OF NEPTUNE: Light dances and ripples off of Neptune Knights as if they were submerged in ocean water. They can handle combat with the elegance of a sea creature in its natural element, able to rebound from knockbacks and falls with ease and grace.

  • ASPECT OF PLUTO: Pluto Knights flicker in and out of the normal passage of time, making them appear to have a lower framerate than their counterparts -- while they do not move faster or slower, there are missing split-second portions of their movements that makes it difficult to anticipate or react to them.

  • ASPECT OF THE COSMOS: The silvery sheen of starlight covers the Knights of the Cosmos, and their touch is just as heavenly. It's warm and pleasant to most, but acidic and painful to corrupted beings. For the followers of Chaos, physical contact with one of these Knights feels like a mild chemical burn: although it does little in the way of damage, it's hard to tolerate it.

  • OTHER OC: Just as with Knight themes and uniform colors, Aspects for OC royal senshi worlds need to be discussed and approved by staff. Please feel free to contact Mouse or someone on Order-side staff to determine your Aspect!

Aspects last up to five minutes for Squires and up to ten for Knights. In addition, your Aspect will be automatically deactivated when channeling your Wonder's magic, so use it wisely!

You wonder where to begin...

...but the desire to begin is the greatest place to start...

Now, young Knights, with a common path to follow...

...are you ready to begin marking the trail?
