He'd taken a hit for that damn scream, but he would go in again and try and get SOMETHING done this time, he swore. Then he'd move away from the annoying pain in the a**!

Megan groaned as another monster showed up. These bitches- hopefully the ******** FEAR hunters were getting their s**t done and saving the world and you know. Not ending up dead as ******** all. But that wasn't the priority for her right now. Right now it was kicking monster a** from here to California. Looking as some guy missed she hissed. These were the hunters? God, they sucked. Saving the world indeed. "Mind actually hitting the thing you know? That would be nice."

They were hopeless.

Did he just say..was he going to.....?

Yep, he was tearing off the bandages that she'd barely had time to start putting on. Her face went stony still, and the gaze she gave him was completely flat. Without even a thought, she leaned down and forward, her body brushing against his as she grabbed for the shotgun that he had put down in order to bandage himself up. And what was she going to do with the shotgun? Why, she was going to shoot it, of course!

She didn't hesitate, because if she did, he was liable to take it away from her before she could get the shot off. She just hoped he'd kept the thing loaded as she swung it up to her shoulder, took aim, and fired.

The recoil stung like a b***h, and jerked her back, but she maintained her balance. She wasn't used to handling such a powerful weapon, but she was no stranger to shooting a gun. She lowered the gun with a smug look, and held it back out towards Lucas.

"What do you know? It does work."

It was chaos. He'd managed to somehow lose Zoey and Lucas again, unable to see or hear them in the mass of Runic hunters struggling to keep the portal safe. The monster had died, but another one had come through the portal to replace it, just as nasty as the first. Around him, other hunters were starting to fall back a little, tired and wounded, and the medic tent was getting more and more full as time went on. So far, it seemed like no one had died, but how long that would last, it was hard to say.

Grunting a bit as one of the other hunters' shoulders hit his own, Cliff gripped his lasso tightly, his eyebrows knitting together as he watched the monster wreak havoc. The cattle prod would be a better choice here, but he kept it at his belt for now, instead looking for a good opportunity to try to grab hold of the creature. If he could pin it down, even for a second, it might be worth it -- it'd certainly keep the thing from hurting anyone else for a short time, giving them the advantage. As if it heard him, the monster's head snapped towards him, glowing eyes focused on the cowboy for a moment before it lunged, lashing out with it's claws. Giving a yelp, Cliff stumbled and fell onto his back, hissing in pain as knife-like nails raked over his chest, just as he tore his cattle prod from his hip, jerking the metal prongs up at it with a zap of electricity that sent it retreating away from him.

For now.

What in the ********? It seemed like half the other runics were flipping their s**t over god knows what. Fighting among themselves too k so much unnecessary energy that they could be saving for the big dance party after this mission was completed. Or for fighting the creatures that continued to emerge from the portal.

She guessed that was potentially important too.

There hadn't been much time between creatures to wander over to the medic tent, so C took this one on while still a little sore from the last one. She was tough. She could manage some little bullshit monster, especially with the others helping to whittle away at it.

"I know it might come as a surprise to you, hearing this come from me," she began, stepping hastily towards the solemn-faced thing. "But focusing might be a pretty rad thing to do right now."

Her swing at the creature barely grazed the thing, which was a bit embarrassing, considering her words just seconds ago. Maybe nobody saw that part. You know, due to the lack of focus and all.

Heidi didn't have much time, she could feel the barrier dying off. So in a last ditch effort she slashed across the creature's chest, grabbed her other dagger and moved a safe distance away from the creature.

It was only after the creature had retreated back a bit that Cliff took the time to glance over his shoulder at the other hunter he'd effectively squashed during his impromptu attack. The damage done didn't seem to be as bad as he'd have originally thought -- the guy wasn't unconscious or anything, so that was good -- but he did notice that he was practically sprawled out in the boy's lap. Bracing his palms on the street at either side of him, the southern boy grunted as he lifted himself off Gear, rolling off to one side so he could take his weight off the significantly younger boy, ending up on his chest in the gravel. In that moment, he took a quick survey of his aches, rolling his shoulders a bit to see if anything had been damaged too badly: a few bruises, but nothing serious. He would definitely live. Tilting his head to one side, Cliff gave the other boy a look over as well, pushing himself up to his knees before reaching over with a slight grin, extending a hand to help him up.

"That's for your comment, about not being able to wrangle a monster," he teased a little, reaching with his other hand to grab Gear by the shoulder, "You ok?"
