"A pleasure," Requiem replied quietly to Rajih, only half paying attention. The arrival of the witch eater was making him extremely apprehensive; his fingers tightened around Lycander's hand, to the point that it was nearly painful - though this might have also had something to do with the fact that he was listening to the redhead banter back and forth with Rajih and Theo, and it was making him vaguely uncomfortable, for some reason.
Ophelia, however, made Requiem turn his head back to her, his face as impassive as ever, though his brows lifted just the smallest amount. He did not reply for a moment, but when he finally opened his mouth, attempting to discern a polite response, Lycander spoke up first.
"Are you inquiring as to whether or not I will go with you, as your 'companion?'" he asked Lycander, gaze moving from the girl to his best friend. "That is..."
He trailed off, unsure of what exactly to say. He had never actually attended a dance before; and would it even be appropriate to attend one with another male? Requiem was not entirely certain as to what the proper procedure was here, and he was still relatively on edge from the witch eater, though Rajih had - strangely - dragged her away. It confused him, since the feeling he'd gotten earlier from the teal haired boy had made him believe that Rajih might be similar to him in that one regard - Majin. Had he been wrong? What Majin in their right mind put themselves directly in the path of a witch eater?
He turned back to Lycander, lips pressed together in an unreadable expression.

Xerxes teetered on his toes as he wondered whether to just go over there or continue searching for a familiar face in the crowd. But just as he was thinking of moving on, he noticed the girl wearing an eye patch moving her arms in the air. Was that to encourage him to join them? His ears were perked up, listening to catch bits of their conversation as he drifted closer to the trio. His gaze darted to the other Mononoke, and for a moment, he thought their eyes met. Was he also inviting him over?
Putting on a bright smile, Xerxes joined their little grouping. "Hello," he greeted with the smallest hint of shyness in his voice. Somehow, it seemed easier to speak with his classmates at the Academy. But out here in the middle of town square, he couldn't stop the trickle of nervousness at approaching random strangers. What if he said something that made him look stupid? But he kept his wide smile firmly in place. "The name's Xerxes." It was probably best to start of with his name, he decided.
He made a quick sweep of the town square with his eyes before landing his gaze back on the trio. "I don't think I've seen so many people here before. I guess this ball thing is a pretty big deal." He actually didn't much about what this ball was about, except that it was for Hallow's Eve, which was what drew his attention to attending it in the first place. His tail twitched behind him. He hoped it didn't require anything too fancy for attire because he didn't really own anything like that.

The Mononoke Reaper snorted softly, tail flicking in some sort of emotion that was hard to read. Her cool gaze met Professor X's almost interested one. Something about the man encouraged her to share more than she usually would about what she was doing. Or why she was in this town. Shaden glanced over her shoulder at the town in question, eyes scanning the crowds before she spoke again.
"How terrible of me to give such a thing away with my tone alone." She said dryly. "Why am I in such a....'vile' place as this? Well." The Reaper turned back to offer a small almost smile. "If I knew the real reason why, I probably wouldn't be standing around idly. I am here because I was told to be here."
Right. That sounded rather like she was a dog following her masters commands. Which was, for the most part, true. But she had been sent here because of those rumors. And probably to play crowd control in the 'Royal City'.
The gentle voice of Athir drew her gaze away from X. Shaden gave him a rather sweet and warm smile. Definitely something rare for her to so openly show. "It was nice meeting you as well, Athir. Do be careful wandering around the streets, will you?" Alright that sounded a little motherly. But to hell with it! She kinda liked this sweet boy. And would hate for something to happen to him. Or find his body laying in the streets while on patrol. She gave him a little wave as he walked away, eyes following his movements until mention of this Ball was brought up again.
A small spark lit in her cyan gaze as she folded her arms to watch X and Miusa. Of course she jumped on a particular tidbit dropped in there. "You will be attending this...Hallow's Eve Ball?" There may have been a slight look of disbelief on her features, but more so amusement. Shaden couldn't exactly picture this man being a chaperon at such an event very easily. This...might have to be proven to her own eyes.

The faintest dusting of pink appeared on Azra'iel's cheeks; though whether it was from the nick-name Ruria had bestowed upon him or her insinuation of him and Rosel attending the ball together, he could not have said.
Intimidated by Rosel's unexpected silence and slightly nervous about the odd gleam in Salem's eye as he spoke of the pink-haired witchling, Azra'iel mentally stumbled about trying to figure out the proper behavior for the situation. His training told him introductions were in order; his instincts told him to run away and try to keep Ruria from getting involved. At least with Rosel: Salem was a completely unknown entity. He seemed pleasant enough, but he was willingly escorting Rosel so... well, Azra'iel was amazed with all the risks he had undertaken to touch the lightning wielder during their conversation. She had zapped him for far less than the statements he had made today... was her control getting better? THAT was a terrifying thought.
Azra'iel's eyes flew over to catch Rosel's, but she was not paying him any mind what-so-ever or perhaps she was letting him answer just to watch him squirm... figures. Shifting his eyes skyward for the moment, 'she never reacts predictably, why be silent now?' Wide, slightly panicked champagne eyes met Ruria's, but his voice remained relatively smooth. "U-unfortunately, she is not my date; I have not found someone to attend the ball with me yet! Though if I am able to attend I certainly cannot deny...the request of an old friend."

Sarcasm practically oozed from Salem's words. Normally sweet, gentle eyes melted into a soft, disapproving scowl as Ruria gave him a quick glance. "Your words spoke otherwise the last we met, ghoul." It was quite clear she hadn't forgotten that incident, and even more transparent that she was not as forgiving as her sweet image may have suggested.
She turned her attention towards Azra'iel, her demeanor changing to the usual gentle and inquisitive, yet oh-so-awkward. "You can go with me if you want to, otherwise I'd only have those two horrible skulls to take. I don't think they'd look very good in bowties." she frowned, as if in serious contemplation about Bitter and Biter wearing bowties. Her eyes shifted towards Rosel, a curious expression in them. She could sense her aggressive tendencies, but did they extend towards females, as well?

"Requiem." Theo repeated. "That's certainly an interesting name." He murmured. He turned back to Lycander. "I don't particularly care how it really affects my appearance, I suppose. Though I do have people asking me if I'm a mononoke quite often." He smiled dryly. "Rajih here-" Theo nodded towards his archenemy and perpetual pain in the a**. "-has much more of an ego. But I suppose he can't help it, since all the pretty ladies like throwing themselves over him." Theo smirked. "He seems to be quite the ladies' man, no?" Theo cocked his head to the side slightly, watching him interact with Ophelia. "I wonder how many girls will he leave behind, hearts broken and trampled." Theo's lips quirked in a snide smile. "And as for the dance, who knows? Perhaps I'll be there. Perhaps not." Theo shrugged nochalantly. He still wasn't sure if he particularly wanted to go to the ball. besides, he didn't have a date. Not that he cared, but something about it bothered him slightly. He pushed it out of his mind. "I suppose you will be taking Requiem?" He inquired, pasting a smile on his features.
Emelia. Theo bristled slightly at this woman who assumed that just because she was a witch eater, she could push them all around. Rajih always somehow managed to piss him off in regards to this particular area. And here she was, driving Ophelia up the wall as well. She was slowly, deliberately and very carefully trying to provoke Ophelia. The two seemed rather well acquainted, considering that Emelia was something Ophelia had a duty to destroy. But Rajih... Such a pervert. "Really now, Rajih?" Theo leaned closer to Rajih. "You get smooshed in someone's boobs, then I find out you cop a feel. Quite the pervert aren't you?" He couldn't resist thet temptation of irritating Rajih. And given how much Rajih prided himself on being a gentleman, this was bound to hit a nerve somewhere.
However, Rajih did pull her away in the direction of another group with someone that looked vaguely like Salem. Almost, but not quite. It looked like Salem minus the stitches that covered his body. But then a familiar blonde head... A very very familiar blonde head... Phil. Theo didn't stop to think anymore. He started towards Phil immediately, pushing through the crowds roughly. Maybe it was his paranoia, maybe it was his sense of responsibility as the older of the two, but Theo simply could not just let Phil stand there with a witch eater literally in front of him. Dammit! He knew Rajih was a bad influence, but this was taking it too far. Putting Phil at risk? Theo could never forgive this. Hopefully, hopefully nothing would happen to his twin. If something did happen.... Theo didn't want to think about the possibilities. But there were a few things he was certain of if Phil was attacked: he would not forgive himself for not being there, but most of all he would never forgive Rajih for being the reason that Phil was even in danger. It would be almost as if Rajih led Phil up as a sacrifice.
If anything happened to Phil... Rajih would pay very, very dearly for it.

With his departure from the friendly reaper, hands firmly stuffed into his soft cushioned pockets, Athir allowed for his gray eyes to skim the buildings that encased the center of town. So many... but he wasn't too accustomed with them, as he rarely ventured from the school grounds. It wasn't to say he wasn't the adventurous type, simply that he hadn't really thought of exploring the further world yet. Always stuck in his studies, he was...
It looked like there was a bakery, a cafe nearby, a place to buy all your magical needs, and... was that... a library? though his nose and lips were currently concealed under the cover of his scarf, his eyes could show that he was indeed smiling. Now there was a sanctuary if he ever knew one. And how silly of him to not of seen it earlier! a bit embarrassed by this oversight, the blonde boy was prepared to head for it, when he felt a light brushing against his opposing side. Looking over, he was slightly alarmed from the girl's reaction. Ah. He'd seen her before. She'd been heading to the bakery, last he could remember. His gentle smile didn't waver though, and he gave a little shake of his head, "Oh, you're fine. Don't worry. Are you alright?" he asked, noticing the very vague hint of colour to her cheeks. Hopefully the cold hadn't gotten to her that badly..!

Azra'iel blinked once.
Then after a moment blinked twice more.
Really, the idea of those skulls in bowties...
Then, suddenly, it occurred to him that Ruria had just asked him to attend the ball with her. She had asked him! That was somewhat backwards! The young man felt the dusting of pink on his cheeks explode into a true blush. He was used to conniving debutantes who would play words games to coax a man into offering what they wanted, not sometimes-bubbly, sometimes-apologetic witchlings who could summon crazy talking skulls out of thin air! Ruria's slightly blunt, innocent manner was really ...well, quite refreshing!
An almost shy grin lit his face as he reached up to rub the back of his neck. "I-I---uhm...hmmm." Azra'iel cleared his throat and forced himself to stand straight and look Ruria in the eye with a more confident smile. He was most certainly not some coy schoolgirl. "I would be honored to attend the ball in your company, Ruria. I rather think Bitter and Biter could quite possibly look better than I do in a bowtie, but I do suspect I am the better dancer." He tried to keep a straight face after his comment. He did not know his fellow student well enough to gauge her sense of humor, but he had had a pleasant enough time talking the other night to know he could enjoy her company. Though preferably without the summoned skulls. She was... really rather cute.
Amused and rather charmed even though he felt slightly out of his depths, Azra'iel had almost forgotten about their audience. Rosel would not let him live this one down and Salem? Why had Ruria called him a ghoul? Oh well.

Kalypso smiled at the other mononoke. "Hi there Xerxes, my name is Kalypso." He was so cute with his ribbon tied tail and his bell on his ears. Kalypso fought the urge to just reach out and pet him. She pointed to the other mononoke in the group. "This is Lea and this is Cedar."
Kalypso turned back to Cedar. She wanted to ask someone who been to the ball before what to expect, hoping Cedar could tell her everyting she knew. But since Cedar had never been to one before Kalypso might have to ask someone else. "Yes I heard something about having a partner for the ball."
"Your probably right about all the exploring Lea I might just do that probably before the ball. But in daylight hours of course."

"Typically I am when the 'ladies' aren't very obviously underage." he muttered, sounding a little put off that many of the women in the area seemed to be young... Or someone he had no interest in approaching. "Even then... It's not really their hearts I'm after."
He turned his head slightly, listening to her explain the spell she had cast upon the town square, arching a brow a little. It was a handy spell, that was certain, but Cruor always did prefer to actually hunt his prey, not trap it. Though he supposed that trapping was better for those that didn't have as much offensive physical and magical strength. He did have a certain fondness for setting his enemies on fire after all. He reared back a little at the pat to his cheek, his eyes narrowing a little at the gesture; he wasn't used to sudden unauthorized physical contact.
"...It would be unwise for us to discuss such things, I believe." he responded softly, glancing at the other reapers wandering about. "I doubt we agree even a little."
Cruor gave a small sigh when she seemed to droop a little when he declined her offer of going to the ball. It wasn't that he disliked Graveyard, but he certainly disliked public gatherings and especially disliked dancing/ However her comments made him grimace and glance aside, eying over many of the other reapers. It was true that they didn't hesitate to kill those that get in the way of a kill, but to have it stated in such a manner bothered him a little. Not all of them were mindless and soulless butchers after all.
"I doubt a Reaper would kill you..." he muttered, hoping the small hint of petulance didn't seep into his tone. "Besides putting me in the midst of a Ball would hinder me more than help..."
He trailed off, thinking about the ball room, of the possibilities of effectively being able to fight when surrounded by so many people. Immediately red flags went up in his mind that this was a terrible idea and he shouldn't let himself be swayed and yet... Were any Reapers even assigned to the ball? What if something did happen inside and nobody was there to offer assistance or protection?
"I... Don't shop. This is a terrible idea, you realize this, yes?" Cruor muttered before his eyes widened a little at Graveyard's next words. "I... That is not what I said. And... This is still a terrible idea... But if there are so few Ars Lillium present then it may be necessary... To have more protection within the ball itself..."

How could she be so clumsy? "I'm so sorry! Only a little distracted..." Sade was so used to being among other students that, for a moment, she almost lapsed into heady definition of the spell she'd just performed - and surely the long-haired boy didn't want to hear about that. Still, there was no hiding the fact that the air around this girl in particular was warmer than it should have been; that remaining in her presence would make one begin to wonder why the autumn chill was absent.
"I've seen you, haven't I? Outside the bake shop back there." Of course, she could be wrong. But Sade doubted she'd forget anyone with hair like that: it was nicer than most of the girls' she knew. "And I'm fine, thank you for asking. Just trying to find my way to the library. Guess I ought to focus a bit less." Her laughter was nervous, and more than a little embarrassed. On the bright side, at least he was being nice about things!

Graveyard crossed her arms, content with her positioning on the wall holding it up as she too surveyed the area. It seemed that a lot of students had gathered in the near vinicity, which is why Graveyard could understand his statement. Women of age as well...well the ones she could see we're either Miusa, a sage, the two witch eaters who she kept her magic on and the Reaper girl with the other group of boys. None seemed even near close to coming to flirt with the Dragon. Thought that was something to be said. While she found his scowl attractive and his frumpy attitude cute, she doubted many shared the same sentiment. Besides, she liked to tease him, he so easily got flustered.
"Just the sex right?" She asked the question obviously waggling her eyebrows at the man, enjoying that she may...or may not have put him on the spot. Returning to the feather in hair, stroking it easily, She continued her soft smile at him. "Perhaps your right, We'll save that conversation for another time."
"I wouldn't doubt it." Graveyard curled her arms around her protectively, "While I find the Reapers to be the place to go for protection, It is not like I am well received anyways. Not many find me....good company."
"This is a wonderful Idea Cruor!" She clapped her hands, smiling at him waving off his negativism. "See, As far as I know, There maybe a few others. But honestly, Cruor. I would feel a lot safer with you there." She eye'd him.
---
Rajih held tightly to Emelia's hand, dragging her as far as he could from the group as he could manage as quickly as possible. He waved good bye to the new found boys, sad that he had to cut them short of a fantastic meeting as he iron gripped the girl. Ignoring her jibes at Ophelia.
"You shouldn't be so mean to her." Rajih frowned at the Witch eater before his frown deepened more, "This isn't a date okay. This is me getting you away from my-" Rajih's eyes widened when his best friend Phil came towards them. His hand tight on the girl's. "Phil!" He hadn't seen Phil though they lived with each other in awhile, surprised to see the other boy though...Phil did tell him that his teacher lived in Lumena once in a blue moon. Rajih panicked as he saw that Phil was coming closer and closer, he was perfect food for Emelia, just her type. He honestly couldn't let her come near any closer.
"Eh a date? No this isn't...wait Phil...No wait." He flushed brightly before he heard Theo coming towards them, pushing himself through the crowd. Not sure what to do, he grabbed Phil's hand along with Emelia's and pulled them together. "HOW ABOUT WE GO SOMEWHERE GUYS!?!?" Rajih said in a rush, He needed to get Emelia out of sight and tell Phil at the same time, something he couldn't do if Theo was there."

Rajih was in Emelia's eyes a fool and a friend for those he was taking her away from. True, she supposed he was doing them a favor by taking her from them, but he was still a food. He was a Majin, and he'd succumb eventually. Or so she would tell herself. "She tried to kill me once, I think that hardly means I have to be polite." She was a bit of fun though. Not everyday Emelia got to dance with death after all.
"And why not a date? You are taking me somewhere aren't you?" She couldn't resist. "You shouldn't lead a lady on. I was here hoping we could maybe get some tea, chat about the news, catch u-" His rush to have them moving was odd, but hey, he was getting flustered. So cute. "Oh, are we going have a party? I always did love parties, so many sweet treats~"
She would live to torment Rajih.
Smiling at the other boy, Phil, she thought it best to introduce herself. "I'm Emelia, Rajih's date." A giggle. "He's just being shy is all."
Torment forever.

Ophelia looked up towards Theo, inspecting his horns. You mean he -wasn't- a mononoke? She mentally shrugged, wondering just what kind of tea he drank then. And she really hoped he wasn't talking about her when he mentioned Rajih breaking hearts in the future. Not that she liked Rajih. Not that Theo knew if she did or not, anyways. Of course not. And even despite that, she kind of hoped Theo was going to the dance. Ophelia would probably end up there, but she'd hate to spend the evening creeping by the punch bowl, so to speak. Though part of her was happy he seemed not to have a date. But why was she happy?
She decided not to dwell on it, especially since the boy bolted off into the crowd, seemingly after Rajih and Emelia? Confused, the reaper looked back and forth between Theo's disappearing form and the two boys she just met. Awkwardly, she apologized, "I-I'm sorry, I'd better go make sure everything's alright. I hope to see you two at the ball! Take care.." she trailed off, rushing the words out of her mouth before trailing after Theo. Something about the look on his face unnerved her. And even though she was heading back towards Emelia, she knew she'd better follow. Her decision became more adamant at the sight of Phil. She couldn't decide whether to smile or frown, having not seen him in a while. But he was also being dragged away by Rajih, who still had the witch eater in tow.
As she caught up to Theo, she tugged his shoulder and blurted behind him, "What's going on? Where's he taking Phil? W-with -her-?"

Phil chuckled and straightened his back, trying to contain laughter that built up in him at Rajih's reaction. It usually was the other way around. It was most often Rajih that would play jokes and laugh at him while he tried to cope but he could understand what he found so amusing about this whole deal, in the end. His flushed reaction was rather cute, after all... even though Phil had always thought that 'cute' is a word most likely solely reserved for cute ladies. "Eh, where?" he questioned as he was dragged along, surprised at the sudden urgent tone he could make of his friend's voice. Having his back turned he had failed to notice Theo, same as his friend Ophelia who he hadn't seen in a while, behind them. "Okay, okay, I don't mind~" he decided. He didn't mind where his friend was taking him, after all it could never be too bad in his company, and he didn't know exactly who that charming lady was but he had never been bothered by meeting new people; on the contrary, he was overjoyed.
"A party?" Phil found himself laughing. "It's very nice to meet you, Emelia. My name is Philemon, but you can call me Phil~" he would have bowed a little and offered his hand if Rajih hadn't been so insistent on them walking ahead. "As you can see..." he motioned over at Rajih "Most friends do." he paused for a second to think and shrug. Rajih? Shy? His friend had never exactly seemed like the shy type except for that very first time when they had slowly, but surely revealed the cards they held secret to each other. And that had also happened here, in Lumena, not that far from where they were right now.
"So, how do you two know each other?" Phil asked, thinking it better to make some conversation while walking than keeping completely silent. "I mean, there seems to be a small age gap-" he bit his tongue right afterwards realizing he was letting it run ahead of his mind yet again and that was a terrible thing to say to a lady. "Ah, sorry!" he exclaimed, his free hand rubbing the back of his neck in an uncomfortable motion. "I didn't mean..." why, why, why did he always have to be the victim of such tactless words?
