3+16=19 FAIL Masa tried to gather her chakra up for another wave, but she was far to embarrassed. She walked out a little further to distance herself from the two shinobi on the shoreline. She walked out a fair distance and readied herself to try again, adjusting to the tides ebs and flows from out her in the deeper ocean.
7+16=23 Success Masa eventually adjusted herself to the rhythm of the tide and once she had that down creating the water she needed was easy. She lifted her hands as her chakra flooded into the tides and raised the water up in front of her into a giant liquid curtain, ready to crash down as soon as she commanded it. A devlish grin overtook Masa's face as she prepared just for that event.
Pt 2: Chakra control 16+39=55 Success Masa sent the wave crashing forward towards the island in a roaring laugh of victory she crushed her own wave and brought the water back to her. This was going to be the fun part of learning the jutsu. She raised up another wave and prepared to launch number two with a, "Whhoooooaaaa whoa whoa HELL YEAH!"
12+39=51 Success Masa raised up another wave to send towards the shoreline. This was becoming rather fun as she went about it, playing evil mastermind intent on flooding the world. She smirked as she crushed the wave before it could hit the shore. She couldn't even fathom riding on top of one of these waves. That woulc come much later.

[edited my earlier post to react to Masaraku. Haha.]
Naru mulled over Hiru's advice for a moment. Varying viscosity and spread of the syrup was all determined by speed of synthesis. Surely tongue movements and the shape of the mouth when spitting would help too? It could possibly have a negligible effect though, like when she had tried to create syrup outside the mouth. Well, enough thinking. It was time for more doing. Making the hand seal Naru turned to face the sea, edging further away from the lady Hoshigaki to avoid getting drenched again. She drew the water based chakra up from her gut and did the steps she'd figured out so far as fast as she could, bringing it out of her mouth in one smooth motion.
d20 [15] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 28 Successes: 2/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 350
The syrup erupted from her mouth with a strong enough force to at least not look like she was drooling, and Naru upped the pressure to make it look more like a jet hose and less like a watering can. By moving her head and concentrating on keeping the syrup synthesis up, she was able to cover a relatively wide field. The syrup joined together to create an impressive looking field before quickly sinking down into the sea. Because of this, though, she couldn't really see how sticky her syrup was. Time to test it on some poor beach creatures...
d20 [14] + Chakra Control [35] DC: 28 Successes: 3/8 [Int: 40] Cp: 347
Naru turned towards land and went to find some beachlife.

5+39=44 FAIL Masa thought about the fact that she would eventually have to be on top of these waves and decided that she had best focus on making the tops of them level. She raised another wave, looking at the uneven top on it, she tried to even it out, the wave collapsed in on itself, sending the tide rushing forward. Masa made a barrier to stop it in time, but was rather shaken up by the near mishap.
8+39=47 SUCCESS Masaraku now knew that she needed to not only worry about leveling off the top of the wave, but that she also needed to worry about maintaining the wave's infrastructure with her chakra walls. She raised up another wall of water before her and trimmed it up. The top had a small flat area to stand on, which is all she needed.
12+39=51 SUCCESS Masaraku sent that wave falling forward and it quickly fizzled out before she got the chance to make another wall, which is what she wanted it to do anyways. She could now focus less on the safety of those on shore, and more on her jutsu. She raised another water wall with a small platform on it. She focused on perfecting that platform and then let the wave fizzle out again once she had it perfect.
11+39=50 SUCCESS Masaraku raised up another gigantic wave before her. Her chakra shaped the wave to her will as it climbed higher and higher before her. When it reached its peak she carved out a smooth platform and sent it crashing forward. She stomped it out before it got to far, but thats when she suddenly realized she was doing this all backwards. ------------------------ Suiton: Bakusui Shōha (Water Release: Exploding Water Shockwave) Stage I: Chakra DC 20 {d20 + chk mod} Creating or gathering extremely large quantities of water for a technique.[+16] [10/10] 12 rolls Stage II: Chakra Control DC 45 Launching the water into a wave. Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique) Stage I: Chakra Control DC 36 Forming a water sphere. Chakra Control: 26 Roll: 10 or above Train: 6/10
Byakuran took a deep breath as he focused his chakra, the water below him, as he sat atop it's surface at his favorite training spot along the steep cliffs, stirring slightly as it's touch. It was not all that different from when he had focused on creating the water clones...it was the same basic principle. It was creating a chakra construct. forming a solid body with one's chakra... the only real difference of course, was that he was having to create a far stronger and more volatile formation, rather than something that was merely detailed. This would be a matter of controlling the chakra, rather than precisely, overtly. Being able to control it's radical power as it churned about within the form of a sphere, being able to contain even a high level ninja with it's power... that was the power of this technique. And what was more it was also a precursor to an even more powerful technique. It was a basis for learning more water jutsu in the future, and completing it here in the manner that he was would increase his abilities with chakra control and Ninjutsu over all. He was focusing on increasing his hand to capapbilities, but that still didn't mean thaqwt he could completely ignore his forte. No pun intended. He needed to be able to master Water Ninjutsu if he was going to be able to stand up to opponents like his sensei.
And he would likely have to. He was someone who was prepared to fight with his all, to fight to the last, he was going to run into many more opponents who wer just as driven as himself. There would be no mercy or drawbacks between them, and there would be no turning back once the battle had begun. If he ever truly met someone like himself in that regard, he suspected it would be a harsh battle...and not one to take lightly in any respect...and this jutsu, whether it was one which would directly finish a foe off or not, would be greatly useful either way. First of all if he created a water Clone to use this jutsu, then he would be able to keep someone held back while he deal with multiple opponents. With his massive chakra stores, there was little doubt that it would work rather nicely when used in conjuncture with the clone technique. His only real weakness in his style thus far was that he didn't have any real means to deal damage outside of....well... he frowned slightly. Outside of the minor vibration. But there was no way that he could use that while on a mission, for multiple reasons. First of all there was the matter that if anyone else was around they too would suffer the effects. The otobe tended to be at their strongest when they fought alone... in the case of having his teammates...it would be as much a hindrance as a help.
And then there was the fact that Yuriko was watching him carefully. He knew now more then ever, after...having come to like her on some level, that there was no way that he could ever allow her to know about his clan. He could let himself...fully trust her. True she was his ally now...but she was a Ninja first a fore most. And even having taken the very first lesson from her...he didn't want her role as his sensei to...vanish. He didn't want to be her enemy. So he would forced to rely solely on his water Ninjutsu for battles from here on out. He would be able to accept that of course. It wouldn't be that much of a burden. The most powerful of his clan's techniques after all, were a long ways away from him. And even then they were techniques such as "black screech" ....the jutsu his brother was more famous for. It was a weapon of terrible power...and it was a technique that even now could dismantle an army of himself. Number didn't make a different against such power. It was merely the sort've absolute might that crushed all opposition weaker than itself... that manner of strength... he still had such a long way to go.
Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique)

Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique) Stage II: Ninjutsu DC 30 (raise for challenge) Maintaining an object inside the sphere. Ninjutsu: 22 Roll: 10 or above Train: 3/10
Byakuran's eyes slowly closed as the water continued to rise and come together into a single cohesive shape, the sphere forming before him. In reality, Byakuran was the sort of person to over think things...this was true. His sensei had remarked on it strongly....and he supposed that she did have a point. He knew it for a fact that he often tended to let his mind wander and go off where it would. Often at the expense of what was right in front of him. It was one of the many things about himself that he supposed was a bit troubling. Still it wasn't something that he couldn't work around...wasn't something that he couldn't work on. He supposed, if he truly wanted to try...he could probably manage to train his mind to concentrate, to focus, when need be. His inability to focus was most likely the result, though, of his kekke genkai. When one had so much external stimuli coming into their senses at all times, it could indeed become very distracting. It was merely a fact that he had to learn to multi task, or he would have gone as mad as many of his clan members.
The water was indeed finally in the perfect shape that he needed...a perfect sphere floating before him, the interior hollowed out as he held out his hand, the water shifting and churning under his fingers as it continued to keep it's shape, the first step of this jutsu completed. He was a little amazed that he had managed the jutsu's first step so easily...he truly could pick up jutsu quickly when he put his mind to it. It was the exact same way with the syrup technique and the water clone...these things just seemed to come easily to him. But they were some of the few things that did. He understood jutsu, yes. He under the art of manipulating certain people and thought that he understood much about the world at large, about the world around him. But at the same time...there was times when he just didn't understand anything. Why people made certain decisions, why they said certain things. And of the many things that completely bewildered him, his sensei was one of them. And, while this was just speculation, he didn't think it was entirely his childhood infatuation with Chishio that brought this about. There was something else altogether about their encounter which had struck him,,,and while his more paranoid side was informing him that this was obviously some manner of trap or deception, he couldn't really be bothered to listen.
He didn't really any option if he wanted to survive...he had to be suspicious, a wrong move now would mean his death. But... he didn't want things to be like that anymore. He wanted to be able to shed his past...to be able to just...be Byakuran Usotsuki. He didn't necessarily want to give up his senses, his ability to perceive the world around him... but...the burden that it represented now, the line it drew between him and the village that he now resided in. But...he couldn't. His clan was, as always, the force keeping him under it's thumb. He was their tool, their weapon, their pawn. Just like his brother before him. They would use him until they were done with him, and then should he prove to more a hindrance then a help...they would dispose of him. Such was the life of an Otobe who had been chosen for life as an infiltrator...an agent. He had tossed single rock inside the sphere of water now, working on keeping it suspended there, keeping it contained. Contained...trapped. How very ironic it was that he was mastering such a jutsu, when in truth it was him that was trapped...it was him that was in a cage. And no matter how hard he struggled to pretend her wasn't, not matter how hard he tried to play the part of the mist ninja, to live in that role...it was still not what he was. He couldn't pretend away reality. He couldn't just keep playing the part until it became real. The world didn't work like that. He needed to remember, and keep in mind, that at the slightest shift in situation...the people on his team, and his sensei, would turn on him...would kill him. And he wanted to live, thank you very much. His chakra continued to build up the walls of the orb of water before him, the rock within shifting anf flicking about within the interior, but remaining basically stable...he just needed a bit more work with it...

Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique) Stage II: Ninjutsu DC 30 (raise for challenge) Maintaining an object inside the sphere. Ninjutsu: 22 Roll: 10 or above Train: 6/10
The words however, were coming back to him. The so called best advice that he'd ever gotten. The words told to him by his uncle. Another one who held the title of second born of the seventh house of the otobe clan. Another who like him, had been cast out into the world, considered expendable...only to turn it all around, and show them all what he was truly capable of.
"Whenever you tell a lie, there is a part of you, that in your weaker moments, will want it to be true. You wish that you truly could make the person to you told it happy, without the feeling of guilt welling up inside you. You'll wish that you didn't have to lie, that you were not enemies with the person before you...that you could fill the role that you have been assigned to... but you must not allow that part of yourself to win. You must steel yourself against it...deaden yourself to it's voice. You must be strong, you must be unbreakable...and you must be unrelenting. This, and this alone, will save you...will make you stronger." the cold eyes of the man looking down on him remained unchanged, even as he lay what ...may have been supposed to have been a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You must wear a mask that the world cannot see through... you must always be prepared to destroy any and all those who place in danger."
"...even the clan...?" He had meant to say it. It had merely slipped out, but he DID mean the words themselves, deep in his heart. Even then, when he was first being sent away, so young, he had had his reservations...his seeds of hatred. But then he had heard something that surprised him.
"Yes." he'd looked up in surprise at his uncle. "Anyone. Remember in this world that you must rely on yourself...and if the clan becomes a hindrance to that...if your ideals truly conflict with them...then they are just another enemy.
"...Should a knight of forte be saying that...?"
His uncle had given a small hint of a smirk. "Perhaps not. But that is just another mask...do you understand? Just another role that one must play to achieve their ends. You mustn't let your weakness fool you into confining yourself to that role. you musn't start caring for those around you through the mask...you must remember that what they see, what they love, is the mask...and as soon as it falls away...they'll betray you. Death is what occurs when you let your heart win...do you understand...?"
Byakuran had stood there for a moment. He wasn't really sure he agreed....but he understood. Yes. He nodded. "Yes, uncle Hisoka."
He continued to focus on containing the rock into the sphere, the water still swirling and churning about forming the surface of the sphere. This chakra construct was different from the others he had made in more then mere purpose, he was discovering more and more...it was a matter of the fact that it was in motion. The reason it could contain others was because the construct itself was always shifting, always turning and keeping up a constant speed and turning ratio. The force of this constantly swirling and shifting body was what gave the technique it's power, it's efficiency. It wasn't so much about strengthening the water, though this was also key, it was more that one had to know how to do it in such a way that they were able to keep the construct moving at a constant rate, an unrelenting velocity. This was what gave the the technique its power. It was what permitted it to be capture even the most experienced ninja if he was caught off guard by it. And that, when combined with his water clones, could allow Byakuran to escape with his life from a Ninja of even his Sensei's caliber. If he had had this technique during the charm test, he might have been able to grab the charm and trap her using the rest of his chakra...allowing himself to "win" their little game. The test hadn't been about that of course, but it would have been a interesting enough feat that he could have held his head high because of it. It was there fore, perhaps, worth challenging his sensei to a rematch in that regard. Just for fun, of course... for the challenge of it. It could be....
"Death is what occurs when you let your heart win...do you understand...?"
Byakuran's face seemed to fall a bit more solemn and he continued to focus on the jutsu. He did understand. He did. He just didn't think that it was going to be this difficult. He supposed though, that his uncle was the one person who had never steered him wrong...the only person... who he was certain that he could trust besides himself. His uncle was out for himself and his, and it was in this capacity that he could trust him in. He couldn't prevent Byakuran from being sent away, but he could tell him to become strong...so strong that the clan had no choice but to either recognize him...or be destroyed.

Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique) Stage II: Ninjutsu DC 30 (raise for challenge) Maintaining an object inside the sphere. Ninjutsu: 22 Roll: 10 or above Train: 10/10
Suirō no Jutsu (Water Prison Technique) Stage III: Chakra Control + Ninjutsu DC 56 (raise for challenge) Preventing the trapped object from escaping. Roll: 10 or above Train: 2/10
The rock was being suspended within the sphere perfectly now, his craftsmanship in forming the chakra construct having improved to the point where he was fairly certain that he could moving on to the next step. Certain that he could begin truly focusing on the true core of the technique. Being able to strengthen the construct itself, as well as increase the rate at which the water was turning, to the point that it could contain even a fully grown shinobi. The chakra within the sphere ws actually fairly minal considering the feat it preformed, much of it was a matter of the speed at which the jutsu turned, the rate at which the water was spinning...if he was to focus on that, and worry less about holding the water together...he might be able to advance the matter. He continued to focus on the task at hand, trying to keep his thoughts from wandering for a while. The water continued to hold the rock, but the way it turned, the way that air still seemed to be getting into the the sphere, it meant that there were still moments, lapses, in it;s perfect containment, and therefore still imperfections in his technique. Once the technique was completed in full, the rock should have been able to sit perfectly still within the constantly shifting sphere... he should have been able to perfectly contain the air itself within the water, ensuring that there was no possible means of escape. The jutsu itself designed for this, so he was really only having problems getting the balance between durability and speed, as well as the amount of chakra used to contain the water itself in the shape he desired. It was a balance of all the elements of the technique into a single final step, and while he was most certain that it was the most difficult part of the exercise, it wasn't anything that he couldn't handle. He just needed to pushing the envelop, as it were. In truth this wasn't really as hard as he had suspected that it was going to be at the start of everything, in this secluded area, the noises and crowds of the everyday clear from his enhanced hearing, things were proceeding much smoother, much calmer, than he had thought they would. Suspected that they might. As such, he was rather optimistic that he might find it a simple enough matter to hurry up and finish this jutsu, before the mission that he knew was soon to come. If he worked at it hard he was sure that he could manage it well enough. The best part about this jutsu was that with his vast stores of chakra, he would be able keep someone contained for quite a while before he was forced to relent. Such was one of the boons of his up-surd chakra training, he supposed.
it was just another reason however that he should focus on improving his chakra control and knowledge of Ninjutsu. With it he could easily be able to master the more powerful jutsu, and make himself a force to be reckoned with. Given his talent for awareness, he was even planning on training his concentration and adapting it to become a chakra sensor...it might be a good excuse to pass off his abilities as an Otobe. It would certainly take a weight of his mind. The more things he had an excuse for, the more he could afford to not hold back on his missions for mist. And more importantly, the closer he came to mastering himself and his chakra, the closer he came to being able to learn the clan's most powerful techniques...techniques that could put an end to his clan with the very power that they coveted so... The water within the sphere was holding together much more stably now...he was feeling that he was at last getting somewhere with it. he could not begin to work with the final stage in earnest, and get to the last stretch in mastering this jutsu. The trick, once again, wasn't just throwing more chakra at the problem, it was about synergy, it was about finding the balance between all the elements of the technique itself. Once he managed to work that out, perfect the process in his mind, then he would easily be able to enact it. It was only a matter now of trail, error, and learning where the errors had occurred and why. He was close now...

Byakuran's attention was focused solely on the churning water now, the rock within only occasionally jostling now as the sphere continued to proceed towards perfection, his efforts bearing fruit slowly but surely. He was certainly not going to have an easy time of it this last leg of the jutsu, but he was sure that he could pull it off. After all, this was nothing to trial that he endured to obtain the powerful chakra with which he was going to be performing this technique with. He had nearly brought himself to the brink of death, nearly ended himself, just to get this far... and he still had so much further to go. Having come up against his sensei was a sign that he didn't have as far to go as he might have thought, but even so, it also showed that that which he had left was no small amount either. He supposed that deep down, he had felt like the rock that was currently trapped within the water of his jutsu. He felt as though escape was secretly impossible. That being able to surpass his brother, being able to truly succeed and crush those that opposed him was completely impossible. Because those that opposed him, even if he didn't include his uncle, were by far the most powerful individuals that he'd ever met. Oh he was sure that the Mizukage was strong, that the village hidden in the mist had it's own movers and shakers...but at the same time he didn't feelt the same sense of....terror, at the mere thought of the power that they possessed. He didn't remember in terror the show of their powers when he was younger, and didn't have the clear memory of one of them ripping apart so many trained warriors before his eyes as though it was nothing. To him they were a threat incarnate, an enemy that was near insurmountable. And yet he struggled to do so. He fought with everything he had to defeat them...to be able to become as great as they...so that in turn it would be them trapped within a cage...sealed within the sphere of his influence...and forever trapped in either death, or his own control. He didn't want to kill his brother, or his uncle, or even Chishio...but Orikami...that was another story. He was rumored to be the strongest of the Otobe...by far, even. The most powerful and brilliant to ever be seen from their clan. A true kage. if Byakuran was able to remove him, to kill him, the perhaps the complete destruction of the clan wouldn't be necessary. And after all, Mist and Oto might soon be allies. They might soon be on the same side... if he could take advantage of that... he just might be able to pull of a miracle. A miracle that would allow him to take his place in this world, while not actually having to make an enemy of his sensei or his uncle and the innocent members of the clan. He might truly be able to end this with the loss of only a single life...that of the egotist, Orikami...
The water around himself seemed surprisingly undisturbed as he began to understand the error that he'd been making in the formation of the orb. It was a fairly simple matter, now that he was working through it. It wasn't just about a single chakra construct and causing it to turn to cover all the weakness, it was about creating two alternating layers to the construct which were turning at the proper velocity. That was the key to completing the jutsu as it was intended. That was how he was going to need to manage this ... the rock within was indeed growing a bit more stable now, the stillness within teh sphere that he knew to mean completion of his efforts close at hand. He was almost there now... it was merely a matter of pushing himself through the rest of the way. His hand seemed tp pulse slightly chakra as the sphere began to spin faster, the chakra constructs forming it starting to fit into their rotations. fusing together as one as the sphere was fully formed. Yes...this was it. Just a little bit more... and this jutsu would be complete...he just needed to memorize this pattern, this manner. This way. He needed to be able to reproduce it in the heat of combat, to be able to recall in on instinct. It was just a little bit further...and he would be satisfied.

Byakuran's eyes seemed to flicker, their lids shifting slowly open as a smile crossed his face. Excellent. He'd done it. The rock within the sphere was completely still, there wasn;t even the smallest hit of of a imperfection or disturbance. The only way to escape from the sphere now would be a matter of skillful application of a great deal of force...and even then it wasn't likely. He had managed, it seemed, the mastery of this jutsu, with flying colors, as the saying went. Slowly releasing the jutsu, allowing the water to fall back into the sea, he slowly got to his feet, taking a few long and slow breaths. Well, that task was completed, the processes and intricacies still fresh in his mind as the technique was stored away with the rest...burned their by repetition and ingenuity. He would have to practice it on occasion, he knew, just to see in the future on what little ways he could improve it...but in the meantime, his work was done. The Water orb was a precursor to an every more... devastating, technique, but that would have to wait for another day, he wasn't yet ready to try and tackle that sort've advanced jutsu...and anyway, it would require a different jutsu altogether to truly be effective away from any body of water. For the moment, he had done well.

4+39=43 FAIL Masaraku tried to raise up another wave, focusing on having the platform created from the start instead of making it an afterthought. The wave raised sure enough, but her platform didn't, her two waves faltered before collapsing. She had focused to much on the platform, and not enough on the wave itself.
6+39=45 Success Masaraku made another wave, it grew slowly, but the platform on it remained steady. She remembered surfing with her dad when she was a kid. He would use this jutsu to make waves on days the weather was good. She smiled at the memory, she watched the wave go forward. She couldn't wait to be on it.
5+39=44 FAIL Mas had gotten so preoccupied in remembering her family and looking at the waves she was creating, that she had forgotten about the waves that already existed. One hit her and knocked her right on her a**. She got up, shaking her head as she stood up once more and mentally prepared herself for the next wave.
14+39=53 Success Masa Raised up another wave, keeping the platform level and keeping aware of the surrounding environment this time. She raised the wave up higher and higher until it reached a peak height. Then she sent it crashing away towards the shoreline. She smiled as she racked up another successful wave. A few more like that and she would be golden.

Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 10 Experience: 248/550 Hp: 160 Cp: 260 MHp: 13 Dodge Bonus: 21 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage I: Chakra Control DC 40 Forming water into a tentacle. Chakra Control: 30 DC: Above ten Roll: Count only above 10 Train: 6/10 Byakuran stood atop the surface of the water, his chakra flowing all throughout his coils in preparation for the undertaking that he was about to undergo…this was certainly going to be one of the most difficult things that he had undergone thus far… his chakra training not included, of course. He was going to have to master a B-rank jutsu…a jutsu that if he managed to master it would mark both how far he had come as a Ninja…as well as give him all that he needed to truly excel in battle. It would be his sword, his first real weapon in combat that he could utilize his chakra for. A weapon of such great power, in fact, that there was little doubt he would be able to crush opponents of the skill level that had earlier bested him. With his vast chakra stores he was perfect for it…able to use the technique and keep coming with more… he would be able to engage opponents on a higher level of battle…and his fatality rate would drastically increase. There was little doubt that this jutsu would be one that allowed him to defeat 100 Ninja…there was little doubt once he completed this jutsu, that he himself would become a real warrior…one to be feared and reckoned with. He wouldn’t have much by the way of brute strength, but he would make up for it tenacity, speed, and what was more, power. Power that came from the depths of his soul…power the rushed through his veins like a coursing river. Power that moved as the water did, and allowed him to bend it to his will…his fingers twitched slightly as his he began to conduct the water with his hands, his chakra moving out and into the water, moving through him as he stood upon it’s surface, and pulling the water, pushing it, molding it up as the energy which was born from his soul began to form the construct that would form as this first stage of the Jutsu’s base. The water responded, reacted, his hands shifting through the motions as though to aide the water in it’s ascent, slowly forming a rough, barely stable tentacle. He was fully committed to trying his all in this endeavor, set on his path to complete this jutsu, and however exuasting this became, however much he was pushed to the edge, he was determined to finish this before he left for his first real mission. True, he technically had a B-rank mission under his belt already, have faced off with the Fire Daimyo’s men during the attack, but this would be his first mission along with his teammates, and he didn’t intend to fall behind them. It was a matter of not being able to accept that he was still weak after all the work that he had put into his training…it was the drive to excel and bypass all those that stood in his way. He was prepared by all means to throw himself into the madness of his over training ways once more, time and time again, if it meant that he could fulfill his ambition to be strong…strong enough to bring ruin to all and any that would force their hand upon his will. He wanted to live…he wanted to be free. That was all that he desired! If he had to practically kill himself to attain the power needed to take that freedom then he would. Even if he needed to rise up and defeat his sensei…even if he had to fight his brother and the entirety of the Otobe clan… then he would do it. That was all that he needed to know about the matter…was that it would allow him to cast off the manipulations and strings that had seemed constricting him since birth. Trapped between loyalties and powers his entire life… he was always the pawn and the agent, always the one on the brink of death because of his divided loyalties. He’d been forced into this life, into this choice, he had no option in the matter. Even as he stood here unshackled, were he to start walking, just start walking and not stop, he would be deemed a dead man by two powerful organizations, and hunted down like a dog. If he wasn’t killed, than he would be crippled and imprisoned for the trest of his life, a prisoner with true shackles and bonds to match the metaphoric one’s which had rested around him his entire life. He gave a deep frown as the tentacle fell feebly back into water. He took a deep breath and started once more, sending out his chakra as he tried again… it was just as his uncle said… failure is not the fall…it is the weakness to not raise yourself back up after the fact. It was staying fallen. So he…he would merely continue to get back on his feet…no matter how many times it took… Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. click to show. Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 10 Experience: 248/550 Hp: 160 Cp: 260 MHp: 13 Dodge Bonus: 21 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage I: Chakra Control DC 40 Forming water into a tentacle. Chakra Control: 30 DC: Above ten Roll: Count only above 10 Train: 10/10 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage II: Chakra Control DC 42 Rotating the tentacles into a drill. Chakra Control: 30 DC: 42 Roll: Count only above 12 Train: 2/10 The water was bending to his will easier now, the chakra within it melding together to his will and design. He took a long deep breath, slowly allowing his soul itself to calm, to be as the water, flowing, smooth a featureless as he adapted to any and all situations that were thrown in his direction. This was merely a matter of taking the shape that he needed to to survive this moment in time. He just needed to bare through it and play the part, wear the mask. Eventually the time would come when the dam holding him back would break, when he would be to great to contain, and then, then, he would be able to be free. He would as a wrathful wave coming down on his enemies… he would be finally able to crush to those who stood in the way of his freedom. He would be as vast a unbound as the ocean itself, he would as free from the control of common hands as the tides that swayed in and out. He would at last be able to call himself his own man…at last be able to feel safe. For in this moment, there was only one soul on the planet who’s nature he trusted enough to call him an ally. All others outside himself and this one, if they knew the truth about him, if he were reveal his actual thoughts, motives, and situation, would kill first and ask questions later. He would be nothing more than another check on their note pad. His sensei was no different…his teammates were no different. Even given next to no reason to be suspicious of him, they still didn’t trust him. And the look in his sensei’s eyes…she would kill him if indeed he was a spy…and in fact, he had been since he was young. He had had no choice in the matter, if he wanted to live. To defy the clan and run would mean his death. It would mean that they would send agent after agent, officer after officer, knight after knight, until he was dead. And even now after all the power that he had built up since he began his ninja training, he would be as nothing before a Knight. Even now that was all it would take to spell his demise. The water from the tentacle was solid now, his will pushing it back and forth, bending and moving it at his whim… he was able to creat more than one now, all flowing up and out of the water before him as he continued to manipulate their structure. The principle of the jutsu was simple enough. To create a powerful enough force behind the blast using rotation and the power of his chakra…in a way that part of it wasn’t all that different than the water prison that he had just recently mastered. It was the same basic matter at hand, anyway. He just needed to concentrate and meld them together, control them as he controlled his chakra, as a mere extension of himself. He moved his hands as though he was conducting the motions of the water, which, for him at least, aided him in this regard. For battle, hand signs were the best, they allowed for rapid and precise control of the chakra, but for the process of learning it, this way helped him get a better feel for the chakra as he was controlling it. It allowed him to get down the process that he needed to conduct the chakra through, which was very helpful when he would later be controlling it were mere signals. The water fang bullet was a technique that was nothing if not an effective weapon. When utilized properly by someone with his level of chakra, it could easily kill a low level chuunin in a single blow. If he was to truly master this technique, if he was to adapt it to the point where he could use it in battle at a moment’s notice, then he would have no trouble with another genin of normal skill level for as long as he lived… he wouldn’t run into the situation he had during the invasion again, where he was stuck in a battle without a weapon. The only possible scenario where that happened now was if he was out of chakra…and in that case he now had his tonfa and martial arts to fall back on…that was one of the enxt things that he would begin to train…his speed. After this jutsu was finished he fully planned to work on his speed until there was hardly a soul on the earth that could see him move. He had no intention of leaving room for chance ever again. With his tenacity for training, he would easily be able to devise a…proper exercise for himself…something that normal ninja or people would have thought insane, that he himself would endure, and be all the stronger because of it.

Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 10 Experience: 248/550 Hp: 160 Cp: 260 MHp: 13 Dodge Bonus: 21 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage II: Chakra Control DC 42 Rotating the tentacles into a drill. Chakra Control: 30 DC: 42 Roll: Count only above 12 Train: 6/10 The power of water was something that so many people underestimated. They saw water as fluid, as nothing. When one looked at it, one could see through as though they were seeing nothing at all… when they touched water, there was little resistance, little show of strength. However, Byakuran’s eyes slowly opened. The more water was pushed, the more one tried to compact it, focus it, restrain it….the stronger it became. While rock could be grinded away into mere dust, reduced to nothing, water was eternal. It merely recycled itself…constantly reshaping and reforming the world. It could cut mountains, it could shape valleys, it could even change the entire balance of a regions weather system. Water was the mover and shaper of much of the world…it was the force which though so many people underestimated it, was a source of radical power. And this power was his to tap into…this power was his to wield…if he could only master it. There a great deal of effort involved in fusing the tendrils of water together, in spinning them together into a single cohesive attack, but he was managing. Bit by bit, piece by piece. He was giving his all in this exercise, and he was not going to let anything stop him… this was the weapon that would continue his journey toward becoming a warrior…this was the next step in his venture to exceed all expectations. For just as people underestimated water….they underestimated him. They saw him as pawn, a problem, a potential annoyance. They saw him as nothing but a fly buzzing in their face to either be used or cast aside. The Mist, the Otobe…both of them were the same in the end…. He frowned, continuing to work on the jutsu. As much as his Sensei had appeared to care about making him stronger…despite the words she had said to him during the charm test… he knew merely from looking into her eyes when they first met that she didn’t trust him…that she would kill him as soon as she believed him to be a spy… it was the cruel fate of what he was, he supposed. He was a liar. He could only be happy when he was lying, when he was wearing a mask. Byakuran Usotsuki was the one who was her student…the loyal soldier for mist who had nearly died trying to protect it from the attack from the daimyo’s men. That was the young man whom she had been speaking to and being kind too. That was the one who, if he eventually bonded with his teammates, they would see and become friends with… and his clan? To them he was Byakuran Otobe, second son of the seventh house, and the defacto heir if something happened to Senkyoku…the very idea that something could happen to such a powerful warrior ridiculous. He was nothing, a cast off resource, a dejected, barely useful, spy…who they never the less would hunt down and murder if he tried to leave their thumb. But was he really either of these things? Who WAS Byakuran? In reality, he was neither of these things…they were merely parts he was playing to survive, lies he was telling so he could persist…masks he was wearing to shield people from the truth. And in the end that was all that they saw or cared about. The only way he could interact with them, the only way they could see or praise him, was through the lies he told them. He was forced to live through those lives, feel their emotions for the people who believed them and responded to them…but it was never really him…never really HIM that they cared for. He was Byakuran the reluctant spy. A traitor to his family in his heart, and a traitor upon them first taking him in to the village that he had called home for so many years… neither of these places could he trust…neither of these places could he truly embrace…because they only embraced the lies he told them…the truth would turn them both upon him…the truth would bring his lies crashing down and show him only hate and wrath… that was the only thing that the real him, the true Byakuran, behind all the masks, could expect to find from those around him… so he had to become strong. He had to become so strong that it didn’t matter that the world hated him…he needed to become strong so that he could throw off all the masks and laugh at those who had believed in them…force them to suffer as he suffered now…force them to know what it was like to live in constant fear…the prisoner of the whims of those far stronger than you… this was his goal…constantly growing and solidifying the more he found out about the world and himself… this…was his truth…

Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 10 Experience: 248/550 Hp: 160 Cp: 260 MHp: 13 Dodge Bonus: 21 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage II: Chakra Control DC 42 Rotating the tentacles into a drill. Chakra Control: 30 DC: 42 Roll: Count only above 12 Train: 9/10 The chakra within the water was difficult to control in this stage of the jutsu, in fact he would go so far as to say was one of the most difficult things that he had ever attempted in terms of control. It required such a intricate web of motion, of manipulation, that he was having to give everything that he had to work through it. He was making progress with it however, it was indeed within his power. Within his ability. The water continued to converge into a single spinning drill, the many tendrils of water he was form whipping about and bending at his whim, yet even so they were difficult to keep a firm handle on while he was focusing on so many at once…it was difficult to keep the rotation a constant with having to keep the tendrils in one piece while he did so…and to add to all of this, he was even having to embue all the tendrils with his chakra to strengthen them, to give the jutsu the necessary punch that would become vital in the next stage of progression. Being able to focus on controlling the water would be meaningless if all he could use it for was bending the water itself…the jutsu wouldn’t be nearly as powerful, and in this particular case he needed it to be. He needed it to be the most powerful weapon in his disposal. It was true that he had plans to increase his speed greatly, but there would always been the issue that he would have to completely dedicate himself to mastering the tonfa’s before he could turn what was once something he had zero talent for into an efficient weapon even approaching his Ninjutsu. As it was he at the rough Ninjutsu abilities of a special Jounin in terms of raw skill and the strength…no, depth, of his chakra. They would put him ahead in most any fight that he came across he was ready to handle, and with a combined assault between his water clones and himself, he would be able to crush someone even near his own level of skill. While it was true that he had attained the power through skill, he was still going to win the only way that he knew how…the way that he’d seen his clan win before him…through the sheer force of raw power. He would gather up his strength…he would prepare himself…he would grow all the stronger… he would master jutsu after jutsu, and he woud become a force to be feared…a force to be respected….and force that someday people came to fear more than any other…even if he had to raze entire villages…even if he had to cast down the countless number of people that got in his way…. A strange smile crossed his face as the jutsu continued to take form, as the influence of his control continued to bear the jutsu stage to it’s completion. Yes… this was just the first step. His uncles words still rang true. He couldn’t trust in any of them…because all they saw was the lie…all they accepted was the lie. If he wanted to be able to show them the real him, he needed to be strong, stronger than they could ever hope to be. If he was ever going to be able to truly meet his sensei face to face…then he would have to be stronger than her…stronger than his teammates. Stronger than his brother and Chishio. He would become their superior, a warrior capable of bringing them low…and then, then he would be able to show him the true him, without fearing for his life…then he would see their true face…what they truly thought of him… Then, perhaps, at last, he would be able to say that he was no longer a liar… no longer a person hiding behind a series of masks. The water continued to spin, the sound of the frothing surging water ringing slightly in the air to his enhanced senses. This was just the beginning of the power that he would wield…the first of many techniques that would grant him strength…the first of many paths he would walk that would bring hyim that much closer to his chosen destiny… as he felt his chakra rushing through his veins, as he felt his power welling up within him, manipulating and controlling the power within the water itself… this was his destiny…and not that one that had been chosen for him by foreign hands…this was the destiny that he had chosen for himself…the one that he would turn into reality.

Byakuran Usotsuki LV. 10 Experience: 248/550 Hp: 160 Cp: 260 MHp: 13 Dodge Bonus: 21 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage II: Chakra Control DC 42 Rotating the tentacles into a drill. Chakra Control: 30 DC: 42 Roll: Count only above 12 Train: 10/10 Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet) Stage III: Ninjutsu DC 35 Projecting the spinning tentacle at a target with concussive force. Ninjutsu: 25 DC: 35 Roll: Count only above 10 Train: 6/10 Byakuran's eyes finally opened her shifted his stance. With a sudden twisting of his weight, the water that he'd been spinning up into a drill, suddenly whirled about with him as he faced the cliff wall. With a rapid movement of his hands, the twisting torrent of water rushed forth, a volley sent at his command, with a resounding crash it hit the cliff wall with a splash, and Byakuran gave a small smile. "Heh..." it worked. He had advanced passed the hardest part, mastering the twisting drill motion of the bullet. Being able to completely pin down the construct and movement that couple together to form that part of the jutsu's mechanism. Now that stage was over, and he could move on to the more.... pertinent stage. Weaponizing it. Once he managed to fight his way through this stage, he would be able to reach the final one and bring this entire process to it's fruition...he would finally have found a way to make a sword of his soul, to turn his very being into a weapon. To turn water into the harbinger of his wrath. As always, it just one step at a time...one foot in front of the other. He could master the power that was given to him by his efforts within the cave on this very cliff side... the cave of trails where he had faced the agony of his own overpowering chakra...and through the experience had ascended to a higher plain of ability...of power. The water once more rose as his command, the complex series of chakra manipulations, of motions and currents, came easily to him now, ingrained his mind by his efforts as he once more thrashed the water forth, the beginnings of the bullet again crashing into the cliff-side. The Stone seemed to shudder, giving off vibrations that shimmered through the water to his senses, reaching him in a wave of reaction. Again, he raised the water up, twisting the tendrils of liquid into the proper form before sending them crashing into the stone. Not yet... the attack wasn't fierce enough. He knew that his chakra, that with his skills, he could do far more. He could crack the stone with his wrath...he KNEW that he could. His aim was a little off too when he rushed himself, that also would have to be corrected. He would have to work fast in a battle, and his target would be constantly moving, more, intelligently trying to avoid him. So he continued to push himself into the process, raising the water again and again, as many times as it would take for him to master this technique. It was a matter of pride...it was a matter of his future...it was a matter of him being able to survive. This was the only road that was open to him. The only road that allowed him to live. Only by being strong could have have the slightest chance, the smallest hope, at survival. All other roads, roads of weakness, of giving up, of being careless... all these roads would lead him to his demise. These roads would bring him nothing but a swift end...and suffering. Emptiness. So really the only path that he could choose for himself was to be come strong. It would allow him to reach a different sort of cross roads somewhere down the the line...it would lead him to a place where the choices that he had before him where all appealing, where the freedom he had was to choose more than merely become strong or die. They would lead him to a place where he could truly choose to be happy...not just pretend that he was someone who could be. Lead him to a road where he didn't need to lie merely to see the next day... He wouldn't need to fear becoming close to others because he would be strong enough to end any attempts at betrayal...and thus didn't need to fear them. Insightful enough to know the nature of those around him...and thus be able to know their intent and value with only a glance...this would be his future...and it would be so much more fulfilling, so much more like truly living...than this mere sham of a lie... He would finally be able to cast down all that stood in his way....destroy all that impeded him. And thus he didn't need to be afraid anymore...he didn't need to wear a mask to protect himself because he could protecty himself just fine all on his own. It was then that he would see the truth in the hearts of those around him. It was then that he would be able to see through the happy smiling faces of friendship and understanding that they were wearing... while looking at his mask.
