Another long sigh. "Honestly I'd like to just go back, but if I do so now, the first thing I do when I get back to my room will be to sit down at my computer and draft a report to Seth explaining how everything he said about Izaya was absolutely true and we should go ahead and react to the situation accordingly." Not that that would likely mean anything to Inigo, who probably wouldn't know 1.) that Aila was reporting on Izaya to Seth, 2.) who Seth was, 3.) what Seth had said about Izaya, or 4.) what it meant to react accordingly to this particular situation. What was important was that she recognized that such a decision would be rash and that the fact that she was seriously considering it meant she was too angry to make rational decisions.

"Ah." He was supposed to know who Seth was, he was sure, but that had been one of many things he was expected to learn in a rather short amount of time, so thus far he had yet to memorize all the higher-ups. He also had no idea what Seth had said about Izaya - probably nothing good - and had no idea what she meant by react to the situation accordingly. From the nature of their organization, though, that couldn't be a very pleasant thing. He struggled through his ignorance to find something to say for a few brief moments before giving up with a small sigh. "I'm sorry." It was his fault she'd stayed, anyway, so he felt if not wholly partially responsible for her discomfort.

Somehow the apology served as an additional annoyance rather than the reverse, and Aila folded her arms on the table and rested her head there, a faintly bitter expression remaining even when her eyes closed. "You should save your apologies for a time when you've done something wrong, or else they'll lose their effect." Honestly, who had ever heard of such an apologetic criminal?

Well crap, now she looked even more upset. "But I--" He frowned, interrupting himself and turning his gaze to the table instead. He felt like he had, actually, done something wrong by asking her to stay when she didn't want to, so therefore his apology was more justified, but he didn't want to argue with someone who was obviously upset. A small, inaudible sigh escaped him. "I'm s-- uh.." A hand raised to rub the back of his neck awkwardly, refraining from apologizing for apologizing. "Ah.. nevermind." Maybe he should just leave her alone for the time being and try to talk to someone else? They all seemed busy though, so maybe he could just wait for an opportunity instead of interrupting their conversations.

[Alexander] Features softened after the greeting, lifting a hand in a gentle gesture "Nothing terribly. though I did see a young lady here with a mechanical arm," THAT was exciting, to Faleen anyway. "And we've had a few interesting vocals for the night" And than Alexander started to sing, a look of polite, and pleasant surprise crossed her features, seemed that Faleen had an appreciation for those with good vocals, even if she made no comment. She knew this song, goodness she felt like dancing. but she remained seated with Nyx, Aila, and Inigo.
[Aila, Inigo] Listening to the two of them quietly, not interjecting her opinion, though her eyebrows did arch slightly at what Aila had said to her, Certainly she couldn't imagine anyone who -liked to be treated that way, but again... why expect anyone to treat you the way you wanted to be treated? It often lead to disappointment in the end.
Faleen had worked with Aila before, she was a capable and refined young women, the words she was speaking to the Trainee who seemed to know her were words she agreed with.
"Perhaps-" Faleen spoke once their conversation died down, looking over at Aila. She didn't wish for Aila to spend the evening in a bad mood, knowing that tonight could turn out to be relaxing, and enjoyable. it wasn't very often that the Rockets got to spend time like this together after all. And after listening to the comments from Aila, and from bits of information she had picked up from Izaya from previous conversations, she could gather what had happened. "look at the situation with a different perspective." She offered, holding a hand up for a moment. "if nothing more, that self preservation."
She glanced over to where Izaya was sitting, and looked back at Aila, using a calm, respectful tone to her fellow agent. "Sometimes its best to expect that others will act in a way that can directly hurt you." She tilted her head "That way, you can't be surprised when it happens. It will help to prevent situations in the future as well." Faleen was raised to be a very independent person, and a hard lesson of her own only helped to drill this mindset further into her experiences. Even so, Faleen was not saying this in a way to lecture Aila, simply offering some advice to the clearly troubled Agent, in the intent to help her clear her mind and better enjoy the night with them.
"Not that I'm saying you should shut anyone out, on the contrary, regardless of actions, its important to stick together, but considering our... unique gathering of friends, a certain caution goes a long way."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Izumi] A half smirked formed over his lips when she mentioned a guitar bar, indeed they did not have any of those around, not that he knew of anyway.
When she indicated toward Izaya, who was sitting alone again, Jerome's dark eyes drifted over to him for a moment, raising an eyebrow, not surprised to see the other Trainee hovering, and just watching. "Kinda" He replied, looking back over to Izumi "Seen him here an there round the streets." He shrugged casually. "Kinda the same with everyone here, don't know any of em well."
As Xander began to sing Frost raised one eyebrow slightly, the rest of his expression remaining neutral, before turning away to face Lilith and Faleen more fully. Show no interest. He had no intention of allowing his roommate to publically serenade him with a song like that, no matter that it had come up at random. It wasn't that he didn't like the young man; he did like him, but he didn't really know what to do about it and he certainly had no intention of showing anything that could even vaguely be interpreted as interest while they were in public. He just wanted to go home and shower and curl up with a book and a cup of tea.
Why had Xander made him come here? He had said he didn't want to come, but the young man had insisted... And he had allowed himself to be persuaded, even knowing how much he would hate it. It was loud, and smelled of alcohol, and somewhere behind him Xander was singing a romantic song possibly at him. Even Faleen's mention of a mechanical arm more or less washed over him, all he managed in response was; "A mechanical arm? Fascinating." He knew he should enthuse and want to find out everything he could about it but all he could deal with was bland responses and keeping up his impassive facade. He just wanted to go home. Why had Xander forced him to come here?
Inigo was wise not to press the issue; Aila's usually boundless wealth of patience had worn quite thin and had not yet hardly begun to restore itself. He might have noticed her expression tense slightly at the two words that seemed a preface to an argument, but the feeling passed quickly when he cut himself off. Good to know not all of the trainees were senseless fools that didn't know when to sit down and shut up.
She straightened into a more attentive posture when Faleen addressed her, to both better view the speaker and better hear the words. What she heard caused her to lower her gaze in a slight embarrassment. Wasn't that how she had always lived in the past? 'Man will kick you into the mud if you do not first cripple his legs,' as her mother had said. While she found it difficult to honor anything her mother had told her anymore, she could at least understand why she had believed in those words in the first place.
"I'd prefer not to think that someone whom I personally went out of my way to assist would push me in such a way," if she hadn't spoken to Seth, after all, it was very likely that Izaya would still be in the brig rather than antagonizing her in the middle of a bar she didn't want to go to, "but I suppose that's what it comes to, isn't it? Perhaps I've been too honest..." She had always been as cautious and as independent as she could. How had that guarded nature become so eroded without her notice?
[Aila]
She sad in silence for a time, and offered a small nod, Faleen could relate to feelings like that. "No one does." But all the same she gave Aila a smile. "I think what you did was quite amazing actually, I don't know many people who would have stuck their necks out like that." She told the younger agent, and she meant it. More people could learn for Aila's example. "Don't let something like this discourage you from what your doing for him, and for the rest of us." She lowered her voice a little, leaning slightly forward over the table "we are a team after all."
Hazel eyes flicked over to Inigo, it was clear that he had some sort of connection to Aila. "We do have good reason to celebrate today" she said with another smile.
She tucked in her chin in an autonomic show of modesty in the face of the praise of her actions. It was the first she had heard the decision referred to with any sort of positive connotation. What was the proper reaction to that? Appreciation? Probably appreciation. "Ah-- Thank you..." That was true. They were indeed a team; that was exactly what she had been trying to show Izaya when she had made her compromise with Seth. She couldn't understand why he insisted on acting in a way that would aggravate the very team that was supporting him, but it was petty to let that behavior warp the ideal of cooperation. Above all else, working civilly and productively alongside the other Rockets was an important ability. She'd simply have to remove herself from any emotional aspect attached to that ability - she'd obviously become much too personally invested somewhere along the way.
"What is that reason, if I may ask?" Meaning, if it was possible to say in a public place, amongst mixed company. "I didn't get the e-mail, so..."
"That- um... Faleen... seems nice. She knows mechanical things." Izumi's face brightened, her eyes filled with excitement at the thought that she'd just met someone who, possibly, she could have a two way conversation about her projects.
So...that was how Frost responded to embarrassment. Of course, the man could have merely turned away from Xander and toward the two ladies without a feeling of embarrassment, but Izaya wasn't buying it. If he knew anything about humans, even one as stiff as Frost, he could tell when someone was uncomfortable. He fought to hide his smile. Obviously the grunt knew the song was meant for him. Even if Xander hadn't exactly chosen the song, he had made the decision to sing it, and to sing it well.
Struck by a sudden urge, Nakura leapt up from his peaceful seat and came over to the shorter blond man. "Evening," he greeted warmly. "Come to sing?" It was a jest, of course, but he stood just out of arm's reach for Frost - just in case. Clasping his hands behind his back, the suit-wearing informant nodded toward Xander. "He's good, isn't he? But I'm sure you probably already knew that." There was a minute. A pause.
"Frosty-chan, I can't help but notice you seem very reluctant to be here. Not that you're doing anything to show it - just as stoic as always. But that's exactly why I'm getting this notion." Moving his arms to cradle one elbow, he tapped his cheek with his other hand. "Call it a...gut-instinct, I guess. If you don't want to be here, then why are you?" His restrained smile seemed to split at the seams. "Or am I wrong and is it that you do?"
Oh that child. Why would it not cease it's pointless grizzling? "Izaya," Frost greeted the other Rocket with perfect neutrality, "I have not come to sing, and I was not previously aware of Xander's talent in that field. Why do you imagine that I would have been? As for my supposed reluctance," a pale brow raised, but there was no other change in expression or stance, "I fail to see your logic. I seem the same as ever, and so you assume I am very reluctant to be here. What a peculiar gut-instinct. If you think I seem reluctant to be here, but that I am 'as stoic as always' then you must assume that I am always reluctant to be wherever it is I am at the time. An inaccurate assumption; a wild stab in the dark, not wise intuition."
Incidentally, a wild stab in the dark was exactly what Izaya would get one days if he had is way. Just let him get out of here, away from the swirl of noise and smell and colour.
Nakura shrugged at Frost's question. "I guess I thought you two were comfortable enough as roommates to learn those sorts of things about each other, even if just by chance. I'm glad you agree he's talented, though!"
Nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing. No fun at all. Wait. Had he heard that right? "Even if that may be, Frosty-sama," he replied, drawing out the honorific to emphasize his 'respect', "you have yet to answer my question. Stab in the dark or not, it could still be right, couldn't it? You haven't even attempted to directly deny it yet."
Not wanting to press his luck, the trainee slowly took a step back. "Yes, actually, you do seem to be reluctant to be wherever it is you are at the time. But maybe that's just because I'm usually with you while observing said expressions and we both know how you adore my company so~" He chuckled. "So, then, why is it you have to tell me that you 'seem the same as ever' when you could just as easily tell me that you are the same as ever, mm?"
While he had been singing, Xander had been slightly disappointed that Frost seemed to disapprove but he still had fun with it. He gave Faleen a quick grin in between lyrics as a quick promise of actually responding after h was through then his eyes caught Nakura talking to Frost. Xander knew his roommate wasn't having fun but the sly Rocket wasn't making things easier it seemed. He scanned the bar briefly with a calculating look, not letting his slight distraction mess with his singing, and his gaze landed on Nakura's computer. A smirk crossed his face just as the song ended and he strutted over and passed the microphone over to the trainee. "Your turn." he grinned then quickly walked over, swiped the small laptop and chose a song at 'random'.His task done, he walked back over to stand by Frost and Nakura, but also, close enough so it was polite to talk to, Faleen. "Really? A mechanical arm would be awesome. But I would hate to think of why it would be needed and it's up keep." he said with a grin in regards to her statement earlier.
Well, he was feeling particularly useless in this situation. It seemed Faleen knew what to say to Aila - not that he had a clue what to say in any particular situation anyway - so he was content to let her handle it. He'd probably just make things worse or something.
He took a few moments to scan the bar, green eyes drifting lazily over all the people milling about. That Izumi girl with the metal arm was talking to Jerome, and looked much more comfortable now that people weren't crowding around her. Izaya was off bugging two other guys now, the weird-looking blond guy named - Frost, was it? He looked awfully familiar for some reason - and.. another blond guy? Hmm, lots of blonds around here. Weird. ...well, if by 'lots' you mean 'three.'
His attention returned to Aila and Faleen as the former asked her question. "I think it's about celebrating.. something about our boss?" It was weirdly phrased, in his opinion. Then again, he had no idea that Team Rocket's boss had been a secret up until not too long ago, so of course it would be confusing for him.
