Vulcan felt the surge of General Marthozite's power and was, at once, distracted. The battlefield overflowed with strength and rage and vengeful spirits. For the cadet, the energy that rolled off of all their bodies was like a drug.

Adrenaline spiked in her veins. She looked up, at what was precisely the wrong moment, and was helpless, suddenly, under Alkaid's magic spell. Vulcan's jaw dropped open, as though she intended to speak, but no sound slipped from between those parted lips.

What a shiny light.

Hypnotized and vulnerable, though she did not know it, Vulcan stared.

xxxxxIt was then that Myalite noticed just how rippled the girl was. She no longer had eyes, only blank, black sockets. There were burns, cuts everywhere. The ghostly silhouette she had applauded for earlier now disgusted her beyond belief. The fact that the senshi would do this ... it was too much. Myalite was knocked backwards quite a few steps thanks to the ripple of dark ... no evil energy.

xxxxxJust like that, Ares ran off. At first Myalite was angry, how dare she be such a coward? But then a flicker of understanding crossed her face. She just wanted to protect what was important to her.

xxxxxAnd Myalite would do the same. She sprinted for the general queen after Ares had left her sight. Hastily, she said, "Hey queeny, here to help." She noticed Sailor Requiem being knocked over by Scheelite. He didn't look very troubled, but nonetheless Myalite said, "Hey, you need help?"

"My kind?" Requiem shouted. "My kind has been trying to make things better. Its your side who goes around killing, goes around hurting the innocent. We're merely the retaliation to your sick and evil ways. How can you all be so ******** blind to that?"

The entire conversation had been had before only two weeks before with General Tanzanite who was just as blind. Were all the Negaverse agents this blind? Were they all brainwashed at corruption? "Things will only be made right when you people stop and you people are clearly to blindsighted to do that. You can't be trusted. The only real way to stop you is to kill you."

Requiem paused. "Or have you buried." Requiem clapped her hands together and aimed her attack at Scheelite. "REQUIEM COFFIN!"

If successful, Scheelite would be trapped inside a wooden coffin for up to thirty seconds. The wooden coffin can be broken from the outside easily, but if shattered then the planks of the wood would hurt Scheelite within. Otherwise the coffin would eventually unlock when the time runs out.

She was frozen as Laurelite moved closer, and the feeling that coursed through her as the General Queen reached out to touch her was not fear, or anger, but confusion. And then outrage, at the other woman's words. She didn't know- Her head was pulled down, and she felt her nose break as her face met Laurelite's knee. Scylla screamed, stunned, choking on the blood that came out almost instantly.

And then the energy exploded out, making the hair on the back of Scylla's neck stand up. And with it came a surge that made the senshi of the Kraken use the backbone she'd displayed. "You don't know ******** anything." Her throat was full of fluid, and she spat at the toes she was facing, her head held down by hands on her ears. There was enough of her blood on Laurelite already, from the fact she'd used her leg to do the dirty deed. What was a little more blood, regardless fo the fact it was a derisive ? She struck out, verbally. "Because you kill because you're a monster, not because you have no choice."

She fought, now. Her hand punched out, the fist balled up as Andrew Collins had taught her, what seemed like a lifetime ago. She punched, the intention to go through the Negaverser, not to merely hit her. Scylla used all of her weight, all of her fury, not even aiming. She would connect, somewhere. Laurelite was too close for her to miss.

"Don't stop."

Serandite didn't need Gunn telling her that. She didn't need a senshi telling her what to do. She slowly got to her feet, what was left of her kimono wrapped around her wounds, sticking to them from the raw skin exposed. She wasn't going to fall for Gunn's fire once again.

The dark silhouette of her rabbit weapon loomed behind her, it's paw rubbed at the last of the dying flames burning on the ground. The decisive strategy was obvious-- Serandite was heading for Gunn. Her bunny was heading for the flames.

"Fight me. You can't affect what's happening there. You can affect me, though. Fight me."

How could she -- How could they just stand there, pretending they were better than the negaverse? How could they just stand there-- At this point, a high kick, aiming for Gunn's chin abruptly erupted from the pink-haired General like a volcano of fury.

Linarite's scream fell upon deaf ears, as those blackened eyes fixed upon Castor as his energy signature drew her attention.

The Prince.

She looked to the senshi around them, to Scylla and Gunn, and Lyra. One by one, her gaze fixed upon every senshi present. To the people she held responsible for every wound upon Wolframite's body. For every moment of suffering that Uranophane had endured. She blamed them for everything. For the loss of her humanity and her life. For the loss of Dioptase, Primase, Helicase, and Marthozite.

Kill them all, she heard a voice whisper in the back of her mind. A voice she had thought silenced when she'd been promoted to General. The youma within her, I can do what you cannot. Release me!

Now, there was no one to hold Aree Cadence's hand and tell her she needed to stop fighting and just be human for a little while. There was no one to worry about her at two in the morning, or wait patiently for her to wake from Elysion's grasp. There was nobody to clean her wounds now, when she needed it most of all, and tell her that it was okay to just be afraid. With Linarite’s... mutilation, the last anchor that held the General to her human life had been severed.

And so, General Tanzanite let go her frail grip on life, and floated forever away into darkness.

The scream that tore from her throat was unnatural. It was a deafening roar of pure, unbridled rage as the blackened skin began to crawl along her body. It latched onto the pale, pink flesh, the scars and the open wounds, and pulled itself over, chewing up human cells and replacing them with those of something.. very much not human. It was something many of them had seen before in battles, when Tanzanite let that darker half take over and lead her into a fight.. but this was different. This time, it was not stopping. It was not halting as it stretched across her face and encased it in a mask of black skin.

The energy signature flared like a raging fire. Her head was thrown back, unintelligible sounds of rage escaping her pale lips as her cheekbones curved out in sharp spikes. Black skin stretched over them, consuming her features as it traveled over the edges of her lips and into her throat, muffling the sound and it reached down into the girl and corrupted her at her very core.

Their superiors had often told them horror stories of what happened when a human had too much too fast, when they were exposed to more of that dark power than they were prepared to handle. It was why the Negaverse required ranks. Try to pump the energy of a General into the body of a human and what do you get?

You get a youma.

The power of the General-King’s starseed, the raw Negaverse energy it had contained, had proven too much for the overzealous General. Her hands clawed at her throat even as black tendrils wrapped themselves around her neck and choked off her breathing. Her own fingers betrayed her, curving into thick claws that raked across her scaly neck, pulling away pale skin to reveal the thick black scales beneath.

The suddenly parasitic skin did not stop at her feet. It crawled out and expanded. It multiplied with incredible speed, growing until it climbed up the twisted support beams and covered the rubble like a glistening black mold. It grew out in sharp spines and spindled formations, jutting into the air and bending back in towards the woman trapped within like a closing flower. It grew until in had enveloped her completely in a fibrous, twisting black mass. Until her screams could no longer be heard from within. It grew until there was nothing left to consume, and those closest to her would have to step back as the parasitics cells stretched eagerly towards them, ready to devour.

One black mass lashed out suddenly, and pulled Zanazziite in from the battlefield. The last thing anyone would see was her outstretched hand, before blackness wrapped around her, and she too was gone. Any who approached the thing risked much the same fate.

It settled at last, a stony mass of thick black spines that twisted up into a strange cocoon-like shell. Inside, though... there was nothing. Even those who could sense energy signatures would only detect the faintest trace of one, weaker even than the average youma should have been. Not the energy of a General, not even that of a Lieutenant. Only Zanazziite's distinct energy signature, that black cocoon and the silent, still body within.

They had been warned, and Tanzanite had not listened.

It worked, just as Alkaid had intended for it to, but she didn't stop to bask in the glory of such a tiny achievement.

She moved quickly, trying to hold her concentration on the power while simultaneously setting herself up for an attack on the senshi of volcanoes. She drew back a fist and aimed it squarely at Vulcan's jaw. Seconds before it collided, the orb flickered and finally blinked out. That wasn't enough time for Vulcan to dodge something sailing right at her face, though.

The punch made Vulcan stagger, probably both because of the blow and because of the sudden release of the mind control. Alkaid didn't pause between the first punch and a follow up, however, and as Vulcan staggered she was closing in on her again. She drew back the opposite fist and aimed to sink it right into Vulcan's stomach, but at the last second she was.. distracted.

Her gaze flickered up suddenly as Tanzanite's scream echoed through the crowded battlefield, drowning out all other battle cries. Her eyes landed on Tanzanite just as her face was encased in the dark skin. Had it stopped there, her panic would not have been so great.

Except it didn't.

The youma skin grew, expanded, until it had swallowed Tanzanite entirely in some kind of dark cocoon. She faltered, her fist poised to drive into Vulcan's stomach, but her attention completely on the monster that was growing rapidly and consuming anything that got too close, like a black hole.

"Tanz," she breathed, a hint of panic in her voice.

"YOUR KIND is the one that tortures people. Tell me how torture is making things better, little senshi. Tell me how ripping someone apart with a glass tornado is a just cause. Tell me how twisted your form of justice is. I'd sooner die then live in a world filled with your justice. Though...I think I'd rather see the Senshi threat ended and -real- justice prevail first."

He paused.

"The real funny part of this is...before they were -kidnapped-, I had actually been not fighting...not killing. Nothing. This stunt here, this is why I returned to fighting. So thank yourselves for that, mmkay?"

Scheelite had been prepared for another attack. Something physical, that he could defend!

He wasn't prepared to be locked into a coffin, and...well really the only thing he could do in there was bang around and try to get out.

It didn't seem to be going well.

"LET ME THE ******** OUT!" The captain gave a cry from inside that sounded...rather terrified?
PS: Captain Scheelite is afraid of the dark.

Whatever had happened to leave General Tanzanite so wrecked, Lieutenant Ametrine was not about to let it go unanswered. She couldn't make up for what had happened. But there was one thing that she could do, and as she crouched over Lyra, she unleashed every bit of fury, every bit of the grief she felt on the senshi beneath her. She was wild, her strikes without aim. Tears streaked down Ametrine's cheeks as she tried with all of her might to keep Lyra on the ground. "You would have done this again! You would have taken another one of my comrades from me. But I won't let you." No. No, she wouldn't let Lyra win this. She couldn't.

Could she? Guilt curled in her chest, and she grimaced. She had lost so many friends, discounting the Negaverse officers who had died in this conflict. It didn't matter that she had once allied herself with Lyra for her own survival. It had been about survival! How could she continue to serve the Negaverse, to defend her people if she were dead? Dreams. It had been in dreams, but Lyra had confirmed them as real.

She felt sick. Her throat was raw from the senshi's attack, her eyes stung. When Hel kicked out at Lyra, Ametrine's body absorbed some of the blow, unknowingly. It hurt, but didn't matter. She knew what Hel was after. "This is for Dioptase. This is for Helicase. This is for Primase. This is for Marthozite," she cried as she tried to keep Lyra pinned while Hel attacked. There was nothing fair about this fight, but had there ever really been?

Ametrine was oblivious to what was going on around her, the energy signatures were the only thing that registered, and even then, not very clearly. She couldn't see what she was doing, but it didn't matter. With every wild blow (and she couldn't focus enough to see if they connected), she gave a snarl, maddened by what she had seen. What she knew. Half forgotten alliances could not quell her berserk fury. She was not helpless now. She was not bound. She was not drugged. Lyra was not a civilian, and Lyra did not have a knife.

At first, the cocoon simply sat there, an ominous flag sticking out of the battlefield.

Then, it began to change.

The black husk that surrounded General Tanzanite continued to thicken. Long spindles grew in horizontal stripes across the dim purple glow of the cocoon. They thickened outward, rounding out into curved strips. Dark, oozing patches began to grow all over the cocoon, zigzagging outward across the cracked and scuffed pavement. It went from a single shape to a network of purple-blackness. Smoke rose from the ground until it was so dark that the cocoon was obscured in the haze.

There was a sickening snap. Purple-black triangles broke upward, springing up like roots, their shadows casting long and ominous across the place where the Negaverse and Senshi stood. The shapes bent and churned, taking on a more recognizable form with each passing moment.

Two legs. Two arms. And then -- a feathered tail?

The legs and arms lurched upright, lifting the cocoon with them. The stripes over its glowing husk began to pull outward. They became rib bones. It shifted, hung horizontally from the belly of the beast as a layer of black scales shimmered into existence to protect it. Just as smoke lifted, the massive head of a youma of incredible size and power swung into view -- no, not a youma. A Great Youma.

Its eyes glowed purple. Its beaked mouth snapped noisily. One great clawed hand gripped a nearby building. It pulled itself upright, rising from the ashes of the demolished building. The beast continued to crawl until it was perched high above the battlefields, its talons sending flurries of broken concrete and wiring raining down on the combatants below.

A sounds rattled in its throat. The Great Youma turned its head up toward the stars above. A cry split the sky -- discordant and full of darkness. It would be a battlecry to the Negaverse; to the senshi, it sounded like a death knell. A plume of bright purple smoke erupted past its beak, and then it turned its glowering gaze on to the battlefield.

And then the Black Phoenix took flight -- with Lt. Zanazziite riding between its massive shoulders.

FACING THE BLACK PHOENIX

The HP of the Great Youma is ??? at this time.

FOR THE NEGAVERSE:

The flames of the Black Phoenix will burn you too! But otherwise, this majestic beast does not wish any Negas harm. On the contrary, it seems capable of imbuing individuals with great strength, or even giving them a special ride around the battlefield. That’s right, friends, you can mount the Great Youma -- but the Black Phoenix will be doing the pickin’.

Your job in this battle is to prevent the senshi from harming this magical beast.

In order to protect it, you MUST roll ONE 20-sided die and target a specific senshi who is attacking. (Note: you MUST write the senshi’s name in your post BEFORE you know the results of your roll.) If you roll higher than the senshi you indicated, then the attack has been blocked. If you roll lower, then you fail, and the Black Phoenix takes the damage. You can only block once per round. Rounds will last thirty minutes and will be announced by GMs.

FOR THE SENSHI:

This monster is not your friend. You know that much. It is wreaking havoc on downtown Destiny City -- people could be hurt! As a soldier of the side of good, it is up to you to bring that beast crashing to the ground.

Your job in this battle is to destroy the Black Phoenix.

In order to attack it, you MUST roll ONE 20-sided die. Make sure you BOLD your own name in the post. A Negaverse agent can try to stop you from attacking! If they roll to block you and roll HIGHER than you, your attack has failed. You can attack once per round. Rounds last thirty minutes and will be GM-announced.

THESE RULES MAY BE CHANGED DURING THE COURSE OF GAMEPLAY

CHANGES

If you roll the same number, the senshi's attack does HALF of the damage they rolled.
You may NOT try to block a senshi attack more than once per round.

Lieutenant Unobtainiumucles grinned. This knave had felt the full force of his power, and he still had the nerve to underestimate him? His comeuppance would be divine, unlike anything his Hand had ever sampled before.

"Fool!" he shouted, his battle honed reflexes allowing him to easily maneuver out of the way of Hephaistos' shoulder. With nothing more than a fully prepared side step, he was immediately behind the senshi - the opening he had been looking for, and the one that no enemy should ever give him.

"Brace yourself!" He skidded to a stop, lifting his arm and pointing his foam fingertip directly at Hephaistos. Raw energy crackled through the air around his hand, snapping briefly before blossoming into a fully realized sphere. The battlefield's occupants would only have a brief moment to admire the glowing sphere's magnificence before a beam of tremendous power burst forth, completely obliterating any and all who stood in its line of fire.

Of course, all Hephaistos would see was Unobtainiumucles pointing at him, screaming his head off, still not wearing a shirt. No such energy beam existed anywhere other than inside the Negaverse soldier's head.

Th-the hell? Bellatrix's blue eyes went wide as Tanzanite turned into...into...

Oh god.

"I-I'm sorry!" Was all she could say to the Lieutenant she had been talking to before turning tail and running. It was cowardly, and it was wrong. But there was so much wrong with this already. So. Much. She needed to go and make sure Xavier knew what was going on, she needed to make sure Ainsley was home and safe and...And she had to simply protect her own.

This wasn't her fight.

"I DID NOT TOUCH THEM." She hissed with clenched teeth, Hel's attack hitting true into the senshis side. It did not break, but the under layer of skin was clearly bleeding, a huge bruise already starting to form. "I did not touch them you fools, do you think i AGREE with what was done!" The punches were sporatic, not very well aimed. Some of Ametrines attacks hit, getting a wince from the senshi as she glared a mix of ice and tears at them.

"I was doing as told, i was protecting my own. I feel sorro for those lost." Was the senshi really saying this?

"... But i do believe in defending myself." With a heave of effort the super senshi sat up, and bashed her forehead against Ametrines. Taking advantage of the confusion, she slid out from under the woman.

Only to find herself staring at...at the largest youma she had ever seen.

"Oh, ********." s**t just got real, and it was staring at all the senshi with hungry eyes.

Requiem leapt high off the ground in jolting fear as the sound of the Black Phoenix rose. She landed on her feet, feeling herself wet (she was really ******** scared). She wasn't sure what she should do - obviously attack - but how? It was a mother ******** giant draconic youma. The tiny Senshi looked up at the massive creature with fright and awe. She needed to do something! She grabbed a plank of wood from the rubble and charged towards the Black Phoenix. Requiem leapt forward and swung the rubble at the youma.

Tears had all but vanished in the wake of what had been happening in front of her own two eyes and the scouter had all but shot out at a touch to record every minute second of it. The power signature all by itself was something both more and less than what Tanzanite had come out of the building surrounded by and it was fluctuating wildly. A full read was impossible and as the young girl in a brown dress was sucked inside of it, Lina mourned her.

For a moment the power died and she thought that it was over. That black tomb would be all that remained of her dear friend and the knight squared herself to fight furiously to keep any of the Negaversers from taking it. It needed to stay where it was. In case....in case she was wrong! It was one of the very few times Lina hoped she was actually wrong.

She didn't have long to wait.

It started out small but the power bloomed and grew before erupting like a flower while the Great Youma shot from it and once again all but blinded the knight. Really, were the situation not so dire and life or death, it would have been amusing at how totally inappropriate the whole situation was for her weapon.

When the reading finally printed numerically across the front, and the scream of the Death Phoenix split the sky, Lina's face was incredulous. This whole thing had to be a dream because it was so very unreal. Swallowing she looked first up at Castor, laying a hand over his own to steady herself and then her voice rang out over the crowd, as loudly as she could.

"It's power level! It's over nine-thousand!!!" What the hell was this thing?!
