"Step one is cleaning it," Velika nodded. "Then we put some salve in it to help it from getting infected. We don't have any proper salve but I know the herbs that go into it, so I can make it quick and easy, but that might take too long, so I'm just gonna put them on, that should be fine," as she spoke, she cleaned his wound then started sprinkling the herbs she had found to help. "I'll make you some proper salve once it's bandaged."

Aydan winced as she cleaned his leg but found the herbs to be soothing. "Where did you learn to treat this type of injury?"

"I get around," she shrugged. "I meet people. People know things. I ask questions. Sometimes they answer. I learn. I... I used to travel with a flock when I was younger. We had a healer. She was very eager to teach anyone who was interested in hopes of training another healer. We were a good sized flock."

"What happened to them?" Aydan asked quietly, still trying to avoid looking at the damage.

"This and that," she answered, softly. She tried not to sound as sad as she was at the memory, but it was hard. "Some left because it was too large, some to join other flocks. Some grew old, some grew sick."

"That is so often the way," Aydan said quietly, noting her sudden sullenness. "Why did you leave?" he asked cautiously.

"Why do you think I left?" Velika asked, shaking her head to try and rid herself of the memories. She carefully bound up his injury.

"I couldn't even begin to guess," he said watching her work. "It sounds like you were very happy there."

"I was," Velika confirmed, quietly. She smiled brightly as she finished binding the wound. "We used to get into so much trouble, me and my brothers. Our poor mother never knew what to do with us. I think we would have given Sonja a run for her money."

Aydan tilted his head curiously, "I didn't know you had siblings. They must have been a hoof-full if they're half as bad as Sonja. Where are they now?"

The smile wilted a bit. "Gone. Like the rest of the herd. There was an... an attack."

"Oh..." Aydan said quietly. "Velkia, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories..."

She shook her head. "It's fine. It was a long time ago. I'm... I've learned to move on."

Aydan held his tongue from asking any more question. He was curious about her past, it was true, but it was obviously something that troubled her. Still...the stallion did make up his mind to do everything he could for the wind mare. Velika wasn't like Sonja, she didn't Need someone looking after her, but Aydan wanted to, nonetheless.
"Ok, three leaves, four petals or...whatever it was...." Sonja muttered dumping a large collection of flowers and shrubs at Velika's feet. "I grabbed a few extras that looked like they might be helpful," she added quickly cursing herself for the hundredth time that she hadn't spent nearly enough time (or any...) studying healing...I mean, wasn't that what the horn was for?

Velika eyed the pile Sonja had brought and nudged through it a bit. "This is perfect, thank you Sonja. Now, I want you to talk to Aydan," the blue wind mare said, seriously. "You know him best so ask him some questions he would know the answer to."
