As Maikau looked around, another smile broke onto his face. He knew what had caused it, now. He just didn't know how. He turned to face the Telvanni Canton, where the wizards were fighting off hordes of Daedra. As far as he had known, Daedra were easily intelligent enough to launch an attack, but to form an army would take a Warlord of considerable ability. Ordinator's corpses littered the ground, each one cut down in a different way.
He raised the bone staff, and a low, malicious laugh escaped his lips as he cast an echo spell. His voice boomed out across the entirety of Vivec, and even the yelling Daedra managed to hear him.
"Foolish Daedra! Telvanni are not a threat to you. Unfortunately, you'll not be taking Vvardenfell today! Because, unlike the Telvanni, I am a threat."
A fireball, cast by a flame atronach, came at him. He raised his staff, and it disappeared. He didn't say it out loud, but the Telvanni instantly knew that he had been born under the sign of the Atronach. Stunted magicka would grant him the ability to absorb most of the spells cast at him.
An arrow came next, but erupted in flames half-way. Then, a voice boomed out through the ranks of the Demonic beings.
"Winged Twilights! Hunt that mage down! Make sure he doesn't escape.
Now Maikau knew who the Warlord was. He knew where the voice had come from, and intended to kill him. For now, though, he had the business of Winged Twilights to attend to.
The blackish beasts came at him in four packs of ten, and cicled around him before closing in. He was ready, though. He knew exactly how to deal with Winged Twilights...

Arnix stood there watching as Kah searched the Bosmer, trying to get into his mind, he had done it before to Kah, but why couldn't he do it to this one? Eventually he said to the Bosmer, "What's your name?"

Zakkon seemed to sense everything through a veil of distorting fog. He looked at triple images of a redguard, which suddenly moved to eight times that.
He blinked, and tried to focus. He managed to get it down to only 6, but knew that that was as few as he'd be able to get it down. He watched, and almost had his entire focus thrown off again by the Redguard asking him something.
It came from 12 different directions, odd since he could only think of 10 that it could conceivable come from. However, despite the phrase being so jumbled, he managed to make it out.
He looked up at the Redguard(s), as best he could anyway, and just gave him the most incredulous look he could.
He managed to slurr through unhelpful lips, though with quite a bit of difficulty, "And why would you expect me to tell you that pretell? I'm well aware that there is power in names, and I just don't think that I'm going to freely give you mine."

"Because if you don't give us your name, we may inflict more of this ring on you... I have heard that people have gone insane from hearing it over and over. Plus, we can inflict more pain by just casting sound spells, which I am particularly skilled at." Kah started running around him, looking at the assassins hands, making sure there was no way he could cast a spell. He would silence the thief if he try any spell. And wait until he got to Morrowind, or Maikau came back before he did anything else to this assassin.

(Don't worry 'bout spells. The slave bracers prevent that.)
"My insanity is the worst of my worries. I've walked with demons along the outer realms of Oblivion, traveled to the realms of the dead, and returned unscathed. Faced numerous horrors, communed with the terrible unknown, and endured pain that would have killed a lesser man. As far as insanity goes, I lost mine a long time ago, and haven't found any need for it since."
Zakkon didn't care how much they might torture him, he'd endure, for the second he gave in, and started trusting the Khajit, then he'd may as well have sealed his own death pact. Notre Dame de Mort said that trusting a Khajit would ultimately end up bringing about his final and true demise, and he had complete faith in The Lady. He had no urge to end his life now, when it'd been going so well for so long.

"Well that's one thing we have in common. I lost my sanity years ago." Arnix tried again at probing his mind, he got something, a glimps of his past, maybe. It was an image of a burning house and a small child standing there sourounded by armed men, screaming, wheather this was his past or not, it was important to the Bosmer, and he felt something he didn't know what, but it made him do something he never thought he would do.
Arnix took Kah aside, "Listen I got into his mind but only for a second, I trust him." He said it in a wisper he himself could barley here, "Don't try and stop me Kah, you know it won't help." Arnix walked over to the bosmer and said , "Zakkon, I don't know what I saw, and I probably never will." He was shocked that he knew his name. "I'm trustting you, and you do not want to break that trust, cause when a Redguard swears it will not break, I swear I will not kill you." He released Zakkon and handed back his affects and walked off.

Zakkon was slightly incredulous as the Redguard unlocked the chains and bracers, and gave him back all of his weapons and picks. He had no idea what the Redguard saw or professed to see, but was amazingly pissed that he'd somehow discovered his name. Oh well, it must have been The Lady's will. He quickly healed himself, and used Balizars Mazed Band to get to Vivec.
He'd deal with the Khajit later, and possibly let the Redguard live long enough to know what he'd seen. For now, he had only one goal. Maikau must die, and he planned to be the one to do it.

"You idiot Arnix!!! Why did you let him go!! What if he wanted you to see that memory!! To help let him go!! Now we have nowhere to go and Maikau will be after us, along with that bosmer Zakkon.. that was his name wasn't it? Now what can we do. Either way, we will have to get rid of this ship soon. Lets actually land in Hla Oad, and go to Bolmora, from the Seyda Neen silt strider. We can get the prices off of our heads there, and possibly have those two leave us alone for awhile."

Arnix turned around and faced Kah. "No, I need the bounty, I need to get it as big as possible, I need to go to Vivec, you can follow me or go your own way." Then by some unknow force he was teleported to Vivec, he was in the Palace, he was in the presence of Vivec himself........

((For some reason, I'd assume that, during an attack on his town, Vivec would, well, y'know, be outside...))
Maikau turned around, counting the Winged Twilights as they came at him. His hood had fallen back, due to the sudden wind that had burst through the cantons. The wind wasn't due to his powers, but it did appear as an unexpected help. The Twilights were forced to close their wings to keep from slowing down, and therefore, were weakened.
Maikau reached into his cloak, and produced a blood red ring. This is where he revealed it all. He knew that what he was about to do was stupid. He knew that any other plan of action would have better results than this, but he knew that he had to do it. Somewhere deep in his mind, a voice told him that he had to take this course.
The sun was falling back down into the clouds now, as afternoon fell into evening. He would have three days to cure the disease he was about to inflict upon himself. After that, he'd be lost to the rational world for eternity. For eternity is how long Vampires lived.
Since the Vampiric disease is spread through two sources, Maikau, and a number of Necromancers, had produced a theory. If they could extract either vampiric blood or saliva from a living vampire, could they change into either a Quarra, Berne, or Aundae vampire at will? Maikau Seimorase, Korbaine Necro, and Seth Frathien ventured deep into a Berne Lair to get either the blood, or the saliva. Maikau and Korbaine made it out unwounded, carrying an infected Seth. In three days, Seth awoke, chained to a wall to keep him from lunging at those whom had tricked him into becoming a vampire. Korbaine cut his arm open, and collected the blood as it dripped onto the stone floor. They bled Seth dry, and collected every drop of blood, ignoring the other form of infection. One of the four remaining mages, Sern Dernothe, eventually managed to force the blood into a form of a magic, which he then imbued onto four different rings. When worn, the ring had the effect of changing the user into a Vampire instantly. However, taking off the ring did not cure it. Both Sern and another of the mages became incurable vampires after three days, and were dispatched the Maikau and Korbaine, who finished the research. The wearer became a Vampire instantly, but had to cure themselves within three days, or the infection became permanent.
And now, for the second time in his life, Maikau was going to wear the cursed ring. He could have shot the Winged Twilights down with Sting Spells, or had them all burst into flame. But he knew that even his magic had limitations. Fortunately, when he was a Vampire, his magicka was only limited by the amount of blood he drank.
As soon as he slid the ring onto his finger, his face changed. Yellowish lines ran around his eyes, down his nose, and across his mouth. His skin became noticably paler, and all of his muscles tensed for a few seconds before relaxing again.
The twenty Daedra were only a few feet away, and all Maikau could do, was smirk.

((You make a good point, I'd personally never thought of that myself. We'll just have to see what Arnix'll make of that point I guess.))
A flash of magicka suddenly broke through the smoke and ashes of destruction that clogged the air and made it thick. As unexpectedly as it had shattered the cloaking smog, it dissippated, and grey air fell back over the land, and once again shrouded the blackened smoking ruins.
Zakkon stood in its place, and surveyed the carnage surrounding him. A smile lit on his face, and a quiet, sadistic chuckle escaped his lips. As far as he could see, the ground was covered in corpses and blood. Buildings lay in ruin, with smoke pouring from their smoldering remains. He calmly strolled down the stairs of Vivec's Palace, his smile only seeming to grow brighter as the sounds of fighting reached his ears, and bright bursts of Destruction Magic pierced the smoke.
He reached the temple, and suddenly paused as he caught a glimpse of something reflected in a pool of congealing blood. He turned around, and looked at Vivec's Palace, noticing for the first time what it had become. The water that had once beautifully fountained down into and out of the Puzzle Canals, was blood red. The cause of this was apparent, as Zakkon saw scores of citizens and ordinaters impaled upon pikes, their corpses placed all about the temple, blood even now, still flowing quite freely.
Zakkon wasn't usually one to openly laugh. Hell, he usually wasn't one to openly show emotions period. However, the blatant disrespect that was being shown to Vivec by the desecration of his temple seemed to strike a humorous chord within him. He couldn't help but throw his head back and laugh, loudly and cruelly at all that surrounded him. However, he sobered quickly, as a thought suddenly came into his head. He drew out his Daedric Shortswords, and strode forward with a purpose.
Wading through rivers of blood, and over corpse after corpse. His stride never slowed. He came upon a barricade of corpses, much to tall to just walk through. As he reached it, he started to climb. Body after body passed in front of his eyes. Khajiit, Imperial, Redguard, Dark Elf, it didn't matter, every race was here. However, there were no men in this pile. This was a group of innocent civilians, women and children, that were slaughtered mercilessly by the enemy. Zakkon cared nothing for their lives, but despite his lack of caring his face grew grim at this spectacle.
As he reached the top, he cast Tinur's Hoptoad, and leaped to the top of St. Olms Canton. From there, he could see some Winged Twilights attacking someone, someone who was holding their own. He knew that this must be Maikau, because no ordinary being could hold their own against this force. He ignored the cloaked one though, for that was not his target now. He looked into the horde of Daedra, and saw the Commander. He ran forward to the egde of St. Olms Canton, and jumped. With the help of Tinur's he soared through the air, straight towards the middle of Daedra and their Warlord.
He didn't care how many citizens were slaughtered, men, women, children, khajiits, it mattered very little to him.
Only one thing mattered, stopping this Demon before he could reach Balmora, and commit the ultimate sacrilege to the Lady by desecrating The Deathblade Manor.
His Lady had shown him mercy, and allowed him to return to the world of the living. There was no way that he would let this slaughtering fool anywhere near Balmora.
His conquest would end here, at the end of Zakkons Daedric Shortswords.

Maikau's attacks happened in such blinding succession, that only the Gods themselves could have dodged them. A single punch with his newfound supernatural strength took down one Winged Twilight. His fangs ripped through four others, and, after quickly draining an ounce of blood from one of them, he cast a spell.
The orb was pitch black, and didn't swirl. It touched one Winged Twilight, and conflict broke out. That Daedra attacked another, and that one another, the frenzy spreading like a disease. He took out eight more in the middle of the conflict, and drank every drop of blood from one of the corpses. Then he saw it.
As he turned, Zakkon came into his line of vision. Vivec's warriors were tearing a line through the Daedra, and that line gave Maikau a clear view of the Warlord. Maikau could only imagine what drove him to do what he did next, but the near-insanity caused by the Ring caused him to raise his hands, and mutter a single word.
"Barrier."
A purple oval surrounded the Dremora Lord, and a smile surrounded Maikau's face. However, he couldn't allow this war to spread either. For if Vivec fell, he would have the wrath of both Almalexia and Sotha Sil to deal with. He had made a promise for his power, and he had to keep it. Nonetheless, he was determined to keep Zakkon from killing that Warlord, even if it meant that he had to kill the Dremora himself.

((A high-power barrier could block around eighty percent of a Dwarven Weapon. So around half of a Daedric Weapon's strength would be useless. Barriers also deteriorate weapons faster. Only slightly, but faster, nonetheless.))
